I had been waiting to try this place for a while and will go back. They have a lovely, friendly staff. The atmosphere is minimalist, but not uncomfortable. They were quick as well.Yummy chips and salsa.They have a nice selection on their menu, lots of different pupusas and unique burritos as well as the traditional items like wet burritos and tacos.Loved the horchata and Aqua Fresca.

Cannot say enough good things about this place! Discovered it two weeks ago and have already been three times! Trying to bring everyone I can here. The 2 pupusa plate is the way to go. Pick any two types they have on the menu/the weekly special goes with some delicious rice and beans. Pair that with a cold drink for only $15 is a steal! Employees are kind and helpful. Both sauces they provide are great, but if you like heat go with the hot read! I will be back as many times as I can before I leave town!

Heck of a delicious mix of El Salvadoran and Mexican dishes.Must try a mix of dishes to be satisfied.Portions are generous.The popusas with chicken and beef are delicious. A big fat quersadilla, El Salvador style (thicker) corn filled with cheese and protien like chicken or beef with side ot pickled veggies. The bites are amazing - like biting down on a good hearty sushi roll or hamburger. Very satisfying on every bite.The salsas are fresh and tasty.The tacos are a perfect bite of corn crunch, lettuce crunch, and juicy beef. Sometimes the bite caused the warm beef juice to drip down my chin. Yum. Wipe with napkin and tilt the head for next bite.The nachos are amazing. Even the bottom nachos are crunchy. Usually the bottom nachos are soggy from the hot juicy food. Not these nachos. Chicken and beef mixed with sour cream, salsas, and yum.Loved it.PS service is pretty good. This place is busy with take out too.

The first time I came here was on a whim, it was just one of the places that was open on the way to Bodega Bay and Id never had pupusas so we went. The pupusas were amazing, flavor and texture, such a good eating experience. I got the pupusa burger with the orange marinated chicken and that chicken was intensely delicious. The salad that comes with them was so good too. Then we had the empanadas which were delightful. I thought I would be too full to eat the whole thing but it was so good I just couldnt stop. Ive now been a second time and this time I tried a plate with fried yucca root and carnitas. The yucca root was great and so was the salsa it came with for dipping but the carnitas. Mind blowing, Ill be dreaming about it. Juicy, crispy, deeply savory, best carnitas Ive had I think. Super friendly staff too, its just a really nice place to go eat. Highly recommend.

Ok so the record maybe a lil needy but the food n service completely make up for it.Where else can you get a papusa burger or Tamale frito?Drinks were also good we had guava mimosa and the magic hibiscus aqua fresca.Ok so on a second visit i was not as happy, the tap water they bring you is really gross, they did bring me a bottle water for free. Also the guy got my order wrong, thought i ordered a fried tamale when i specifically said not fried, i know not a big deal but they do charge more it. I think the papusas alone arent as good as the burger they make with papusas as the bread, that i still highly recommend.

Ive come here for lunch several times now and have enjoyed the food and the experience each time. Ive gotten the pupusa burger and the pupusa plate, both with chicarron e queso, and the tropical al pastor burrito. The burrito was fantastic! The last time I went, I didnt think the pupusas were that good. Honestly, I remembered them being better. My issue with them was that they were far too bready, especially on the outer portions. And they didnt come out hot enough, so the cheese wasnt melty. Picky, I know. But Ive had some excellent pupusas before, so my standard is sort high. These just miss the mark, especially for the price. And wow, this place can be expensive if youre not careful with what you order. Overall the food is good, service is quick, staff is friendly and theres plenty of seating inside or outside. Atmosphere is just an outdated strip mall so no big deal there. I definitely recommend Don Julios because theres something for everyone!

I’m a bit disappointed with the papusas… I had ordered extras to go for my wife and I .. but was very bothered the “extras” like chicken lettuce and cream was in a small cup and not inside the papusas. I ended up just throwing away the small cups with extras and eating whatever was inside the papusa but then got a really bad stomach ache so I’m giving it 2 stars unfortunately

This was my first visit here. They have outside seating which was nice I didnt have to take the food to go and had a chance to try it fresh. I had a tropical pastor burrito with red sauce. The presentation looked delish. At first bite I really enjoyed it but as I ate more of it it became too sweet for my liking. It was good but too much. Overall it was ok

We stopped by Don Julios after seeing their pupusa burgers on TV. Unfortunately when we got there we were too full but we did order pupusas. I ordered the al pastor and carnitas pupusas. It came with a slaw on the side with a salsa. It was okay, but unfortunately nothing to write home about. The staff was very friendly and the prices were extremely reasonable. I would make the following suggestions. The arabol chili salsa doesnt belong with chips its a great addition but doesnt have the zing that pico de gallo or something with lemon or lime would have. The arabol salsa goes great over enchiladas. The pico de gallo was really really good, but I had to ask for it. Thank you for the food and I wish you the best of success! One last note, I really did think that they were going to be smaller. One to two pupusas could be enough so cheers on the great portion size as well.

Ive eaten here many times with no issues. This past weekend I took my son here for lunch. By the end of the night I was in pain and throwing up. Now two days straight of diarrhea and puking which I anticipate will continue tomorrow for a third day. Clearly this place has lost its way. Food poisoning is due to gross negligence by cooking staff and this is probably the worst case Ive had ever. Hopefully my complaint to the board of health goes somewhere and their kitchen and staff are cleaned and retrained. Unfortunately, I wont be coming back as I never want to go through this again.

This place is phenomenal, its been here for years and the quality of the food has remained extremely high. They have a ton of different veggie options which is awesome, but they also have a lot of traditional options. My brother is Salvadorian and he loved this place and said it was very authentic. This is one of my favorite places to take people who visit us here in SoCo.

Came with a group of 6. Everyone ordered some form of papusas and everyone loved them. Mine was the pork/bean/cheese. Ordered it ala Carte and it came with a spicy Cole slaw. (Not too spicy) and a very mild sauce to dip. The papusa came out nicely browned and toasty with a creamy center and crusty, cheesy edges. Yum!

I was here some years back with a family member who grew up in Latin America and wanted to introduce me to Pupusas. When I asked my brother Jim if he would like Pupusas today he said the right thing= ¡SI!! Gotta be honest about my experience. When I first came I had a cashier that was a female looked a little different than the others with hippy type tattoos, but younger in age. She stared at me as if I was something different. It was bothersome and apparent. Im not sure as to really why someone would take such time looking that hard at a complete stranger, but to continue I realized maybe because Im black there is am actual problem for her internally. (Racism perhaps?) Anyway so I waited about 40 minutes for my food that I ordered to go. I noticed that about 7 other people had gotten their orders after me even though I was there before them. Then a lady who must of been a supervisor came up to me and asked my name for my order and agreed as if she just noticed like I was waiting for awhile. I think Im pretty obvious as a person sitting that long there being the only black person in there. She apologizes and asked if I want a drink I declined this offer and just laughed it off. Finally, about 10 minutes later here is my food... I left right after and then I proceeded to eat- well the food was just average I thought it would be authentic testing for the amount of time it took to make, but no it was just garbage- my 5 year old could have made it in half the time. Save yourself the grief- first: of feeling like your unwanted at an off at like establishment then secondly: served slow af and lastly: less than average taste in food. Spoil alert this place is less than average theres a spot right across the street that serves Hispanic food and I think thats the better option just by the treatment by this place. I will go there next time. And I bet their attitude wont be like that or Im leaving ASAP.

We ordered 4 pupusas and tamal de élote, (corn tamale) we got one wrong pupusa, but it was ok, the consistency was melting, the ingredients have too much liquid and after a few minutes is hard to grab a piece, a bit short in seasoning.Tamal de elote was awful taste, lots of oil, and the smell was rancid, stale.Cashier and waiter were pleasant and very respectful, good point of their favor, the order was ready in 15 minutes and were gone. Another point on their favor.I could give them another try just to make sure I don’t overreact but for the quality I took two points.

Saw a write up in a local news media about this place and had to visit. Its definitely worth the trip!Wonderful to have an awesome local papusa restaurant which also has an extensive Mexican menu.I ordered 2 papusas which came with sauce and cabbage salad. One loroca and the other one chicken with beans and cheese. Both were a good size and delicious!My son ordered the papusa burger, it was gigantic serving size! Two papusas, your choice which flavors, sandwiched the meat of your choice; he selected beef. It also came with sauce and salad.We enjoyed the best horchata around. It was rich, good cinnamon flavor, and best of all, not watered down!Pricing was very good, affordable and great value.Staff were masked, tables were socially distanced. Also nice outside seating.I cant wait to visit again and try more items from the menu.

Food was pretty good. Although we asked multiple times for napkins and it took forever for our food to come. Towards the end of drinking my fountain Coca Cola drink I noticed black sludge in the bottom of my cup. Prior to having past experience regarding fountain machines I knew the machine was not cleaned properly. I approached a waitress who got the manager. The manager immediately blamed me for backwashing into my soda. I never asked for money back. Never asked for a refill. I simply told them I knew the machine was not cleaned properly. The manager began to raise his voice and continuously blame me. He also said that they had really good reviews and insinuated that no one would believe my experience to be true. Will not be returning. A simple Im so sorry, we will get this fixed would have satisfied me. Why would I go through all that for a fountain drink if I didnt think it wasnt a problem?

We are vegetarians and were amazed at the many veggie options on the menu at Don Julios. The food was wonderful. I ordered pupusas with rice and refried beans and he ordered the 2 street taco plate with a veggie and tofu taco. Ive never had such delicious refried beans and he said the tofu taco was out of this world. The staff here were so good, and we were thanked by 3 different staff members for visiting their restaurant. Great food and great service easily make this a 5 star experience!

Best restaurant in Rohnert Park. Definitely lives up to the rating it has. There hasnt been one thing out of the kitchen that wasnt exceptional. Personally Ive had the chimichanga and the tropical burrito. They serve a nice selection of bottled beer as well. A great place to bring the family to. Completely casual. The food is made to order, so expect a little bit of a wait. 20-30 minutes. Totally worth it. Their Salsa that comes with the tortilla chips is hot! I love spicy and it sits at the perfect heat to taste ratio. If you visit you will not regret it!

First visit. We ordered Salvadorian specialties, a variety of pupusas, yucca fries, and fresh fruit drinks. The drinks were my favorite, mango-pineapple. I lived in Venezuela for a year and was hoping pupusas would be similar to arepas, which I love, they are not. The yucca fries were much thinner than Venezuelan and batter-coated so they tasted like some fast food french fries (Jack in the Box or Carls Jr?) and had no yucca taste or texture.

The food is very good here even if they no longer serve fish entrees.The service is friendly too.There is just one fly in the soup, but it’s a very BIG fly.It is the music.It is truly disgusting!!!Why does a family restaurant have Spanish club music with lyrics about inappropriate sexual acts.My wife and I had planned on eating there, but on account of the music, we took our food to go.It was very uncomfortable being there and that’s sad because it didn’t used to be like this.Don’t bring children to this place unless you want them to receive a raunchy education.

First time for Salvadorean food. The wait was long because they are popular. It was Friday and again they are popular. Ordered the combo pupusas (pork and chicken) with beans and rice. Plus a side order of one chicken pupusa just in case we were still hungry. Side order of fried plantains. JUST AMAZED at the taste of this food. Someone had told me this place sold really good Pupusas, so excitingly went to try out the place. First off, Pupusas are way over priced but then I said to myself wow they might be that good. I ordered a combo of 2 pupusas with rice and beans, because if I had gotten 4 pupusas which I usually eat, would have been around $12 at 3.75$ for each pupusa. I realized that the pupusas weren’t great at all, the beans where not the beans meant for pupusas and just flavor did not exceed my The rice was dry and had a weird taste so I didn’t even eat the rice. And the bowl of beans where just Uncraving. Overall it’s a real expensive place for not okay food. Don’t think I’ll be back at all. Nor suggest to anyone. I stopped here with my friend coming back from Fort Bragg, the owners were very sweet handsome young men that provided excellent service. I even offered to help them with bringing products in to show my gratitude. I really wanted this to be my new favorite pupusa joint but it fell far below my expectations. Spanish Rice was bland and dry, beans were flavorless and the pupusas revueltas were lacking flavor, as well. I liked the pupusa masa but I could not taste any chicarron inside. Even the curtido and the watery red salsa that came with the pupusas was lacking any distinctive flavor. The best part of the meal was the warm tortilla chips and spicy salsa roja along with the agua fresca de piña y mango, which was outstanding. Stopped here again on the way from the Bay area to the Lost Coast. Again the soft tacos were superb. The cheese papusas were also excellent. This appears to be a family run business and the whole family was there. The son, after I questioned him on how the papusas were made, spent several minutes giving me a detailed turorial on how to mix the masa and then form it into the yummy pancake shape without breaking the dough. If you are passing by Rohnert Park on 101 and are hungry for very tasty food, Don Julio’s is a great way to cure your hunger!

Good Times! My wife, kids and I decided to try Salvadorian Food. So, we went to Don Julios. It was a nice day and there were seats outside but I like to see how it goes close to the action at least the first time. We ordered beverages . I had a very delicious and refreshing Mango and Pina Agua Fresca with Jamaica. It was perfect for the warm day. It also was a great compliment to The Two pupusa plate that I had. I got one with chicharron and one with pork revuelta. Nummy! Salsa was a bit spicy for the kids but it was great for me. The kids wanted nachos so they got a big pile of nachos tasted good.
