Food was yummy, only complaint is that my beef was a more fat than actual beef pieces, I mean the picture looks great and don’t get me wrong the whole bowl was fire 🔥, I’m just saying I would want actual beef pieces rather than beef pieces with a lot of fat. Would I go here again ? Yeah cause like I said the Bowl’s are delicious. Vegetables steamed /cooked perfectly. We also ordered the chicken Karaage & that was good, liked the sauce on it. Again it’s located in the food hub and they give you a little buzzer that lets you know you’re order is ready. Overall rating 4.7 out 5 ⭐️

Not sure what’s happening but the reviews are not matching with what I ate. The gyudon beef was tough and the flavor didn’t soak into the meat. Definitely needs to be cooked way longer. Honestly, I would rather have yoshinoya with this inconsistency and price.

Amazing! I got the short rib plate accomplices with rice, macaroni salad and kimchi! Everything was flavorful. Tender. It was one of my top meals I’ve had out in San Diego for sure. Also had the Yakiniku beef bowl which is always amazing! Veggies were done but not soggy. I loved it. Will definitely be back for the short ribs and try different menu items!

I wouldnt get the strawberry matcha latte again. Way too expensive ($5.50) and only meh. Almost half the price of the katsu.I got the pork katsu which is only $14. The food is so delicious and the portions are HUGE. The katsu is crispy and unlike a lot of other places Ive tried, its seasoned. And it comes with a salad which I didnt notice. The salad is SO GOOD (cabbage, green onions and sesame dressing) and the gyozas were perfect. I wish I had tasted them while they were hot and crunchy. But they have a delicious chicken and green onion filling. I will return here. The service is really good also.

Omg omg!! sososo delicious. i ordered the yakiniku ricebowl, shrimp tempura, steamed gyozas, and takoyaki. got it all in under 10 minutes and the workers are friendly. reasonably priced food and the portions were good enough to feed my family. def recommend

The food is incredible. Reminds me of being in Japan and having curry for the first time .Nothing beats the atmosphere of the place and its a great spot for a group. Highly recommend it

It was AMAZING. LIKE SO GOOD! The service was excellent and it reheated well the next day. The Blueberry Pusheen soda is super yummy! This is the Karage chicken and the BBQ beef bowl with veggies! I was huge! So much rice.

Love these bowls! This place is located in a cool food hall. All the concepts are great. I love Donburi’s simplicity and fair prices. The yakiniku was what I got but the rest of the family ordered one of almost everything. It all tasted bomb!

Curry fries 10/10 never had it before this place. Really unique. The cashier is really friendly and funny. Overall, would eat here again. Must try pork katsu curry!

Had the pork katsu with curry and a karaage bowl and both were great, portions are what you’d expect from the price. The staff was also welcoming and kind, overall I would recommend.

Donburi is located in Market on 8th which is a food hall in National City. I came before prime dinner hours so it wasnt busy and food came out quick. Service is ok.I ordered the Gyudon Rice bowl. I enjoyed the Gyudon beef and thought the flavors were good. It came with veggies and some pickled radish. The veggies were good but the radish had a chemical taste to it. Rice was also clumpy and old.. The beef was the most enjoyable part of this bowl but it tastes exactly like a chain restaurant who does Gyudon beef rice bowls. This is a small business, so prices of course would be higher than the chain but it is almost double the price here. Almost $15 for this bowl is just too pricey. Meat to rice ratio is bad and I was left with so much rice.

The food was barely edible. Tasted like a microwaved meal. The veggies are just frozen veggies defrosted in the microwave. I had the chicken teriyaki and it was just like steamed chicken with just a basic sauce. I sadly would not eat here again..

As someone who lived in Japan for a few years I can safely say that this is now my GO TO spot for Japanese cuisine. The takoyaki sparked memories of all the times I had it at street vendors all over Japan. Absolutely GREAT hidden gem of a spot!

One of my top places for a rice bowl, and easily worth the drive and price each and every time. Staff is friendly and food comes out pretty quick. Every time I come here, I get a small flash back of growing up in Japan. Definitely a nice little stop if youre craving some high quality rice bowls.

I love Japanese food, so sometimes I crave a good Japanese dish and Donburi rice bowls are the quintessential Japanese comfort meal. Ive been to this place multiple times and it ALWAYS hits the spot. This is exactly what National City needed. I usually get the gyudon or tonkatsu curry, always with a side of gyoza. Not only is the food delicious, but prices are fair and customer service is great!

Amazing food. I highly recommend the Gyudon. If you like beef bowls, you will not be disappointed. Some of the best beef I’ve had, tender and delicious. Every time I crave one now, the first place that comes to mind is Donburi Rice Bowls. Can’t wait to go back!

My go place for a gyudon bowl in Mitsuwa market was closed, so I looked for a place near where I live in CV. Found this place on Yelp, and glad I did. My gyudon bowl was delicious, and the portion was big! It was just over $13 w/tax. Im definitely going back!
