Real Hainan chicken with flavorful rice. One of old school hole-in-the-wall business for 30 years. The price is decent too. My parents have been stable patrons for many years. They also have a few traditional Chinese dishes too. Will definitely go back!

3.5 Star. Overall. Good enough for a homey, next-door, quick meal if happen to pass by or grocery shopping in the plaza. But not special enough to go out of my way to dine here.3.5 Star. Complimentary Soup.Light and refreshing.3.75 Star. $8 #1 Hai Nam Style House Chicken with RiceMeat is a little dry. Sauce is strong on the ginger and lightly strong on the sweetness. It’s a good dish. But if forced to compare to Savoy’s, sorry Savoy’s is still far better on meat, rice and sauce.3.5 Star. $8.50 #46 Beef stew with egg noodle soupNot that visually appealing but tastes pretty decent. Beef is fairly soft and chewy for the most part. Flavor is good but not that extraordinary.5 Star. $3 Plum sodaSprit mixed with salty sour mushed up pickled plum. Not bad. Would order again. Disclaimer: this salty sour and sweet soda is likely not for everyone though.

I like their shakey beef with ketchup fried rice. Good Hainan chicken also. The soup, on the other hand, scares me. Theres probably quite a bit of MSG in their food so avoid this place if you are sensitive to MSG.

Quality still the same throughout the years. Service is pretty quick, and prices are reasonable. Famous of their Hainan chicken rice, so be sure to try it here, if you never had it before.

This is the best place for Hai-Nam Chicken; I always get extra sauce! The chicken is always moist. Their paste tomato macaroni is really good; all dishes are authentic. Staff is always friendly.

$14 cash for their Hainan chicken rice in 2023. its decently good but its too pricey for 8pcs (but really 6 due to bones) of chicken atop a huge bed of white rice and a container of sauce and soup.soup was decent but veggies in salty soup.at this price point, theres too many other options Id go for that are more nutritious or better value.

So so so so so good! Its a hidden gem of the 626 and they deserve more hype. Been going since I was a kid and the food still taste the same so I love the consistency. I highly recommend trying their Hainanese chicken rice and/or their red rice with shaking beef or cornish hen. This spot is definitely a must if you are ever in the area.

I love their Hainan chicken, been coming here for years. I used to love their sauce, but now it seems more diluted, tastes like they added some kind of sweet chili sauce. 🤔🙄

Been a long time customer here. Food is delicious and service is great. Best hainan chicken rice plate ever and their pork ribs combo is also great. The sauce that comes with it makes the plate. They also have delicious steak cubes with tomato paste rice. Comes with soup and free iced tea. Only thing a little disappointing lately is their chicken portion seem to have been reduced . Ordering an extra chicken thigh or strip of chicken would cost $3 more which I did but it didn’t look like I got a lot. I get more chicken at Church’s chicken for that price and I get at least 3 pieces of full chicken thighs and legs that I feel will fill me . I don’t see why a steamed or boiled chicken would cost so much more for so much less. Parking is plentiful. Restaurant is small and quaint. Service is friendly and fast. They always offer you extra soup when packing Togo or give you extra sauce.They’ve reopened indoor dining now as of 2/22/2023.

A great place for Hainan chicken rice or any other Vietnamese rice dishes. Prices are under $10 a dish and very reasonable for what you get. I love the complimentary soup they give. They usually use a bitter, sweet green. A warning. They sometimes use chicken feet to flavor the broth. I love it!

Came here because I was looking for a place with good Hainan Chicken and this was one of the first options available in the area that I was searching. I always went to the 168 Market here but I never noticed this particular restaurant. I have ate at the Vietnamese restaurant nearby, but never here. I decided to give it a try after a friend recommended it and it did not disappoint.When I first came in here, it smelled Vietnamese and knew I was immediately at the right place. The people who served me, and I assumed owned the restaurant as a family spoke both Vietnamese and Cantonese so I knew they were Vietnamese/Chinese. They were really friendly and understanding after I realized that the restaurant was cash only. I had to run to 168 to get cashback.Now for the food. I ordered a Hainan Chicken Rice and my friend ordered the Cubed Steak with Red Rice. They were both extremely delicious and the ginger and sweet sauce they gave me was excellent. They even went around and refilled both my water and sauce a few times. I demolished my food, and my friend who ordered the steak with red rice said hers was really good as well.I would definitely come back here as the food portion are huge and the prices are reasonable.

Always order chicken with rice here, my favorite dish. One thing brothers me is every time the amount of chicken I get is different. Sometimes good sometimes just few pieces and most of them are bones. Hope they have a standard.

Came here with a few high school friends to see what the hype about the hainan chicken rice was all about. I think this place is definitely overrated. Located in the 168 plaza, Dong Nguyen is a small restaurant with very friendly staff.You get complimentary vegetable and chicken feet broth that is placed down before you the minute after you sit! The hainan chicken came out fairly quickly as well. As four of us ordered the same dish, each one had a different amount of chicken on it. I think I got the least amount of chicken on my mountain of rice. Hainan chicken atop a bed of rice with a side dish of sauce and two cucumbers and tomatoes. I liked the picked carrots and radishes, but oh well.My friends mentioned that the rice tasted a bit like fish. Maybe it had fish oil in it? It was too mushy for me. The chicken was decent, but there were way too many bones. One friend mentioned that Savoy had more chicken with dark meat in it, which tasted a bit better than this place. For my plate, I just felt like there was barely any meat on the chicken. The sauce was also a little strange. Tasted like sweet and sour sauce (and looked like Italian dressing!) The dish was okay, but I have had better. I think JJ Cafes hainan chicken rice is even better!I think I want to try the cornish hen with red rice or the filet mignon cube with red rice that I see people raving about in the reviews. The hainan chicken was a miss for me. The people working here are pretty nice and friendly, as we sat for awhile just talking and they didnt come by or anything. But there also werent too many tables occupied. Cash only.

I had their Hainan chicken. The rice was good but their chicken was scrawny and mostly tendon and bone.The pork chop however, was thick and juicy and tender. They give you two large pieces too.

This was my childhood food restaurant. Its been always good to me for almost my entire life. The service is good, even though the employees have come to age. Come give it a try for a warm home feel and comfort food.

Almost immediately you are greeted as you walking into the restaurant, you can feel comfortable and courtesy from their staff, after ordered, your food will be served in less than 5 minutes, in addition, the food is great, and prices are good.

Its more economical to eat here, but recently the Babao Sheep Rice has less and less mutton, and the bowls have changed from big bowls to smaller bowls. But I still support it! It still tastes good! ! !
