Im know on Google for my honest reviews so here is another one. I loved everything about this restaurant! Very clean, very good food, the border burrito was amazing and the lady at the desk(cashier) was amazing and very kind explaining everything and just having an awsome vibe. The restaurant is colorful and clean. The prices are reasonable as well. So definitely recommend!

Had a horrible experience with my take out order. They got several items wrong-- including adding meat to a vegetarian burrito. They made me wait 30 minutes and I had to drive back to get the correct order. My wife ended up eating dinner alone due to the mistakes. They had nothing to say about this. No offer to comp the burrito, no sorry for the inconvenience. If anything, they made it seem like I was lucky they remade the order at all.

Too expensive for what you get this is not a high-end restaurant . The steak in the Border burrito was not up to par this will be the fourth time Ive had the same order the steak black beans border burrito. thought it might be a one time random unlucky piece. found the steak still has a lot of Gristle tougher than it used to be, Ive been going there since the store opened in the early 90s

Large portions and good food. Friendly and helpful staff. Good place for lunch on our trips across NorCal. Going to try different items next time to check their range and variety. Three cheeses in the enchiladas and were a little heavy on the Manchego for my taste but fine nonetheless.

I liked this visit this time. Got to dine in. Previous experience wasnt the greatest. Wish they had more ensalada choices but went with the ceaser chicken salad. Hopefully they will have other options in the weeks to come. The size of the ensalada was good size.

$14 Side Salad??? 20-year patron of Dos, and unfortunately theyve moved to serving the smallest portions of all the good Davis Mexican faire. Their specials offer a multi-grains salad with choice of protein for $14. Dos salads of yesterday used to be healthy portions of all ingredients including a full serving of protein in the large to-go container - plenty for even 2 people. The special salad of today will a few tablespoons of grains, mostly filler salad, and a few chunks of chicken in the small round to-go plastic.Yes prices are going up for everyone but dont skimp so much youre losing customers. The paella burrito was a surprise. I love every bite of it. The blend of shrimp, fish, and sausage was just perfect altogether. I took a risk, a very delicious risk. Definitely coming back when I’m in Davis

Food here is good but not mind blowing. If you keep that in mind, the place is great. I like the burritos, which are big and tasty. The green sauce is my favorite, especially with chips. This is one of our go to places when we don’t want to cook. So, it is recommended.

Disappointing. Fish tacos were soggy and tasted like smoke flavoring. Spinach salmon salad was mostly fruit with syrupy dressing, with good but very small portion of salmon. Decor is fun but dining room very loud despite being only a quarter full. Salsas were good.

I have been going here for many years now and have been seeing a downtrend in quality of food and service recently.This last experience had us waiting for a very long time for a to-go order while watching other guests come in after and get their food first.Once we got the order we left and by the time we got home realized that they had completely forgotten the Guacamole that we ordered.I have faith that they will get back on track and continue providing a great service with tasty food.

We love this place! Lots of delicious options to chose from, with friendly and quick service. They also alter the spicing and orders a little if needed, and always get it right. We used to do both dine in & take out before Covid, now just take out cause Im immunocompromised, sadly, because I liked the ambience too. The Mango Burrito is my favorite, give it a try :)

We ate here recently and everything was below average taste wise and above average in blandness. The guac was out of a blender, had no flavor. The habanero spicy sauce tasted like ketchup. Even the marg was like a sugary sprite with a little limon. The chips had no salt and were blander than cardboard. On the plus side, salsas were pretty good.

Maybe its just me, but maybe burritos should be bigger than my fist. Their burrito sizes are horribly inconsistent. Its luck of the draw whether theyll give you enough food to constitute a meal. What little they gave tasted good though.

The food is usually great with creative seasonal specials. The service is always spotty. Like waiting while people who came in 10 minutes after you ordered get served, and then they bring half the tables entrees and the remaining show up 10 minutes later - for tacos. Go figure.

A customer from the very first day of Dos, burritos are the best. Add a few selections from the Salsa bar to make your burrito a real treat. Prices are moderate, can be busy around dinner. Outdoor seating is available at both Davis locations, great for warm Summer meal.

Not my favorite Mexican food place, but the quality of the ingredients are consistently high so Im thankful for that. Salsa bar is nice since you have a range of choices. I recommend the steak burrito and get some hot salsa. Seasonal menu items can be nice to try as well. Be prepared for the meat upcharge with inflation. Think it added around $3-$4 per item if you want steak. Tasty but kinda crazy prices.

I had the salmon salad for first time in 1-2 yrs. I know most salmon are now endangered and were in an unusual inflationary period, but the small morsel that came on top was so tiny it was almost invisible! Maybe an oz of fish. Plus overloaded with jicama & tortilla chips. What a decline from just a short while ago...!

Be prepared for white-washed, unsalted Mexican food. If you walk by their store its always just white people eating there... for a reason. Their salsa at their bar is decent but the food needs lots of work. I got fish tacos with mango salsa. Terribly sweet, fish was like it had been steamed with water, tortillas were nothing to write home about and the sides were bland. Tried my roommates order and it was just as bland. If you are craving Mexican or Mexican fusion I would not recommend this place at all.

This place is a really nice chain of fast food. I really like how their ambiance, layout, decorations are setup. The food is okay. I used to like it more when the portions were bigger. They have great sauces for you to dip your tortillas or even put on your dish.

Prompt service and good food. However, they dont always get the order right. Check to be sure the items you dont want are not there (e.g., cheese) and the items you do want are there (e.g., chicken). Theyve been very good about correcting mistakes when I went back.

The last three times I placed an online order my order was either never made or completely incorrect. The first two times I blew it off and figured they were just busy but the third time I was super frustrated and called to make a complaint. I spoke with the manager and told her our order was made an hour before I got there and was never even put in so I had to wait an additional 20 minutes. And the items were incorrect. The manager just said “yeah the online orders aren’t our priority so maybe next time just try calling”. That was her solution. She just kept making excuses for the items always being wrong or never made. Horrible service. We use to love with place and ordered here often but not anymore.

My favorite Tex/Mex place in Davis and also my go-to spot whenever my parents visit. Good selection of different dishes, so everyone will find something they enjoy. Can get packed during mealtimes when there’s a lot of people on campus (move-in, Picnic Day, commencement) but otherwise you shouldn’t have a problem getting a table. And of course I have to mention the magical soda fountain with every drink you could ever desire - so much fun to experiment mixing different sodas. One last comment - great branding! Fun coyote artwork inside.

Delish. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, great service. The fajita salad is the best. Burritos are a bit small and disappointing. Everything is very fresh. The salsas are to die for. The only complaint I have is they dont check the beverage machine to see what needs refilling . The last 3 visits they were out of all the lemonaides and when told, they didnt do anything. Someone hasnt figured out how popular they are and doesnt order enough.

Still great taste and ambiance but slower. When this place was the first restaurant in the now multiple chain everyone behind the counter moved; I mean really moved. Your food was ready and the server was shouting your name before you had a chance to find a table. Those times are gone, but the core of the business moves on. Dont get me wrong. I really do like this place, but I really feel like they try to compensate the taste of their food with the amount that they pile on your plate. The food is okay, especially their nachos but everything else doesnt really have that authentic taste to it. Now, let me make it clear, when they say South of the Border they really mean it. I went there 6 months ago and I use ONE big plastic water cup for my sauce; instead of 6 LITTLE cups--to save on waste. I love their Salmon Burritos. After a wonderfully exhausting afternoon with a seven year old, I was too tired to cook, so stopped by on an impulse about 5.30 pm. No waiting! Got this and Cheese Enchiladas to go. I enjoy the food, colorful Mexican decor and ambiance, but am never comfortable with the reverberating noise level... even when I turn my hearing aids down! We do eat in the restaurant but take out far more often. Its a casual and busy place with lots of help and friendly service.

They had their establishment streamlined with take out orders in one area, doordash, etc. pickups in another area and then people standing far apart from one another waiting for there register ordered meals to go. I was one of the latter. Upon arrival, it was little touch to get the attention of the register staff, I felt a bit lost and overlooked. I did speak up and was told to wait which I understand as they were busy it just felt awkward. The food took a while, but my spicy shrimp burrito was worth the wait. Paired with the green sweet verde sauce and voila! Perfection.

I worked at Dos in college and still love this place. As someone who once worked there, they impressed me most with their true desiccation to quality and freshness of ingredients. They don’t cut corners and they offer amazing food. Even more, this is the cleanest restaurant I ever worked in.My favorite foods they have are the howlin tostada and anything grilled, and I always love the specials. I was so disappointed with the food on my last visit. I ordered the steak border burrito with no salsa. My food arrived with no guacamole, but lots of salsa. Very watery salsa. I think it was also missing cheese, but it may of floated away on the salsa river. My husbands order was also wrong. Too bad, the attention to detail wasnt there today. :(

Dos Coyotes is so convenient for a quick burrito or meal on the patio when it is not scorching hot but unfortunately, it is hit or miss when it comes to the quality of food. Last night we went for dinner and it is the second time in recent weeks where our food was less than satisfactory.Last night, my burrito was about half the size as normal and with hardly any chicken. We decided to stay and eat since it was before the typical Friday night crowd but tables were still dirty .I want to like this place but I am often disappointed.

Flabbergasted... in the 2 decades that Ive frequented this place, tonights the first time that we were told that meal prep would take ~45 minutes. establishment needs to come up with a more effective back-up plan to tackle unexpected crowds/customers streaming in, if/when/esp when they are short-staffed.there was only one person manning the cashier, which held up the long line of customers that could otherwise have been handled smoothly.do consider having a separate line for take-outs (as opposed to eat-ins).

First: Ray is an absolute angel. She accommodated our large staff lunch without any hesitation even though we were a bit complicated( not to mention super last minute). I appreciated how she went above and beyond for us. I used to work at the South Davis location some years ago and Ive witnessed how hard and quick the kitchen staff works, so shout out to them as well. We are thankful they were able to prepare everything for our large order on such a short notice. Also, a big thanks to Trevor for being on point for the delivery. The menu is sort of limited to burritos, tacos, and salads but they taste pretty good and when you order they come out in around 5 minutes. They work fast and taste equal to or better than chipotle. The north side location (at the Davis Covell Marketplace) is the original, and has a more extensive complementary salsa & salad (fresh cabbage slaw) bar. I have been going to this place for quite some time and I am not coming back. The first strike this visit was that when placing the order the person at the front had difficultly understanding a swap made on the order. The second strike came because once the food was ordered it took them 20 minutes to get us our food, which on a busy day is explainable but last night was a slow night, so there is no excuse. The third strike came from the food itself, I ordered the Tres Taco Basket with chicken and my wife ordered their special, the Shrimp and Pineapple Quesadilla. The food was lukewarm, which means either a lack of proper cooking or slow from the grill to the table time. The taco meat was over peppered to the point were I could not eat all three tacos, and the quesadilla tasted off, and made her sick. I would recommend if you want quick quality food go elsewhere because there is a chance you will get sick.

I used to be a bigger fan of Dos...but the last few years they seemed to have dropped off in quality and service. My favorite Dos to go to is in the Market Square in Sacramento. But theyve all seemed to hit that brick wall...I love the quesadilla specials and wet burritos. And my favorite salad is with the mahi...good stuff. But has been better.

Everything Ive had has always been tasty. The border burritos are classic charbroiled goodness and can get a little sloppy towards the end from all the delicious mix ins. The mahi mahi burritos are my favorite on the menu but I will say they vary in fish quantity, sometimes itll be 1 filet halved for the whole burrito or two small filets(what it should be) to give you a fish bite throughout the burrito. The salmon salad is surprisingly filling and the greens choice pairs well with the salmon. The flavor of the salsa changes depending on who makes it that day but the level of spiciness holds true. The green sauce with herbs and purple onions is the best all around, slightly spicy and fresh.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food or Latinx looking for comfort food, this aint it chief. I ordered the yolo mango habanero chicken burrito, and I got no habanero taste or spicinesss. I tasted mango and some kind of mayo based sauce. It was sweeter than I would have expected for something like this. I tired some hot salsas (the Pico de Gallo and the red salsa) but they were pretty mild. I know this place is supposed to serve healthy Mexican and Southwest food, but there are ways to have healthy Mexican food that still tastes like Mexican food. On the plus side, no estan buenos pero quitan lo hambre.

Dos caters so much to our law school that people get pretty tired of their burritos- and they joke that it is a for sure way to make you run (to the bathroom).Ive tried burritos, flautas, quesdillas, a tostada, and everytime I feel as if its not worth the price. For TexMex this place is pretty white-washed, having 0 points of authenticity in terms of Mexican flavors. I guess most people who frequent here in Davis dont have any palate sensors as they food here seems to be fresh but lacks flavor- even with the addition of their salsa. The taquerias are a much better option in Davis.
