The restaurant is really quaint with southwest decor. The staff are friendly and helpful. I love a lot of the burritos here but today I had the Cheese Enchiladas. Excellent!! They replaced the Coca-Cola “select your drink” machine (which was horrible as it never had the mix of the drink right) with a regular soda dispenser. Much better, easier, and quicker. The salsa bar is probably the best in the area. Such a wide selection and made fresh. You will not be disappointed eating here.

Quality of food has definitely gone down over the years. Wasn’t impressed with my $14 tres taco combo meal at all. First off, we were the only ones in line and the meal took 15 minutes to get to us. The chips that were served to us were cold and very stale and were hardly edible. The chicken tacos were bland and served on almost raw tortillas. The photo below is what the tacos looked like when served (very unappealing). Portion sizes for the lettuce and cheese were out of control. The whole plate was a mess. Didn’t even bother trying the rice.On the kitchen side NONE of the workers were wearing gloves, not even the cooks! Disgusting. No uniform, no hat/hairnet or beard net either. Sorry not coming back until this problem is fixed! I’d rather eat at Taco Bell.

Not sure why but orders are not consistent. Last week I order the season special shrimp & asparagus quesadilla got it togo a nice long box long with lot ofSlices at least 8 big & couple small ones. Today went there look what I got (picture). 4 slices 2 edges in lil plastic take out..for $15 bucks very disappointed 😞 . Can yall stay consistent

The quality is constantly slipping. When I met my wife she introduced me to this place and I was pleasantly surprised. Since then the quality of food and accuracy of the order is constantly off. My Navajo nachos didnt come with sour cream or guacamole. The side of sour cream my wife ordered wasnt in the bag. She found something hard and unidentifiable in her food. Also, her enchiladas just looked like soggy tacos. Save your money and eat taco bell.

First visit here. Had the California taco plate with shrimp and fish tacos with rice and beans. Food was delicious! Staff were friendly and customer service was excellent! The margaritas looked appealing but didn’t get a chance to try bc I had to go to work that evening. Will definitely try when I return as this will be my new go to spot for Mexican food!!!

My kids and I always share the Navajo Nachos plate with extra steak. It is amazingly yummy. Food always comes out piping hot and fast. Meat and other ingredients were always fresh and I never had any compaints.Additional review: Just found out you can get any burrito on their menu as a bowl. Really good!

My wife and I come here a couple times a month! We cant get enough of their tacos and burritos. The food is excellent, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The food is priced reasonably but is always delicious and filling. We absolutely will continue to come here to fulfill that craving that only Dos Coyotes will sate.

This location isn’t as good as it used to be at all. I’m vegan and always get the southwest veggie and the last three times I got it the rice was severely undercooked and hard. This time I ended up finding a bone in my veggie burrito???? Never going back

Had not been here in a long time and went this week for lunch. The shrimp tacos were amazing and I underestimated the pre-made bottled margaritas!!!! Holy moly! The staff was very sweet and helpful. They knew the menu very well and told me everything that would be on my tacos and all of our orders were correct. By the time we got our salsa and drinks the food was out right after. We will be back!

By far my worst experience dining...whomever was on the grill yesterday overcooked the the steak so it ended up being incredibly dry...also the soda machine was out of regular coke...I let the cashier know but nothing was done. Definitely not eating at this location

We always come here because I struggle with gluten intolerance and the bowls are super yummy and pretty healthy. My bf gets the salmon burrito every time. Once again, I order a specific burrito and it comes out entirely wrong. Theres less chicken bits than ever and the tortilla is twice the size of any other burrito size anywhere else. Pay attention to the requested orders and stop with the less meat, more tortilla move. The taste is still good, but the quality and attention has sharply declined. Next time Ill ne going to Chipotle.

Food was OKBut they pull a shady thing when my wife asked for more guacamole on her nachos the young girl taking the order should have informed us that it would be $1.25 extra for that.Since also my asked for lite sour cream that dhould have made up for the upcharge for the guacamole.She should have given us the option of accepting a $1.25 extra care by infofirming us of this practice. One of my favorite things to order is a Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken. The salad here was outstanding!! It was done like no other I’ve had! The chicken was truly grilled and had an outstanding flavor! The additions of the black beans and corn made all of the flavors blend together!! It was so different that I’m hoping to recreate the flavors for a family gathering this summer!! I usually do not gush over a salad, so you know that this one is worth trying!! Staff is very friendly even with pandemic mode. The food is delicious. However, my close friend, a vegetarian, ordered a smothered burrito and we were pretty upset to find, after hed eaten about half of the burrito, that there was a fairly large chunk of beef in the burrito. He was given a replacement burrito right away. Its still not the first time Ive been let down by a quality issue with an order.

Dos Coyotes is one of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. I feel I could it eat there breakfast lunch and dinner. But last night I ate dinner at the Elk Grove location and got food poisoning. It was horrible - I felt like I was dying. Not sure if it was burrito or salsa bar, but take care if your customers with quality food.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years, and around 2 years maybe this Dos Coyotes got new owners. Ever since then we have had minor problems and the portions are smaller(not by alot but there is a difference). Around a year or so they got better and now they are almost like they used to be! They still have really kind workers everytime we go in. There was this one time that they messed up our order so bad(we only noticed when we got home) that we had to call just to make them aware of the situation. Overall a good place to go.

I’ve gone here often in the past two years; the food has always been good and consistent. However, in the span of just two months, they’ve gotten worse every visit. I’m not sure if it’s because of new employees but there’s been way more mistakes and the food itself has just gone downhill. Yesterday was the last straw; my food was cold, soggy, flavorless, and best of all, the fish was undercooked. It was disgusting and a waste of money. We have been to this restaurant twice - one dine in and one take-out. Comparing with similar Mexican restaurants in the same region, this place offers more choices with similar prices. I ordered the take-out online and picked it up promptly. They serve you unlimited salsa which is very nice. I think it is better to dine in as the food will be served fresh hot.

Dos Coyotes is so good. I’ve been enjoying their salmon burritos for over 20 years. I have visited their locations in Davis, Sacramento at Arden Fair, Folsom and now Elk Grove. I try to get a burrito once a month and it tastes the same, always delicious. I get mine with mild salsa and once a year I double the salmon. That’s a lot of salmon.

This place is a inexpensive mid fancy restaurant. They give you a ton of food for each order and it is really good. The staff was friendly and rolled with our confusion. You order at the front then they bring the food to you. There is a salsa bar that has utensils and a variety for salsa. It was a great experience eating there.

Ive been to many Dos Coyotes locations and this location is as good as any for the food. There is a lot of seating, both indoors and out. The employees taking orders are friendly and efficient. The kitchen staff gets the food out quickly and accurately. The drawbacks...there is only one soda dispenser so there is often a line, the line crowds into the tables that are very close by, it also often mixes with the people getting salsa from the salsa bar which is adjacent to the soda fountain, and all of that happens in the aisle that leads to the restrooms. I wish they would sacrifice a little seating elsewhere to move either the soda or the salsa and add a second soda fountain to alleviate the congestion.

Because of Eric, the food is quick, service is beyond outstanding and Eric is always taking care of whatever needs to be done. He is personable, stops by the table to ask how we are doing and is extremely professional, courteous and polite. The food is delicious and the guacamole is superb, as good as homemade. Their food is always fresh, theyve got specialty seasonal items, which keeps things interesting, theyve got several protein source options (beef, chicken breast, dark meat chicken, turkey, pork, salmon, white fish, shrimp). They also have white and wheat tortilla options for burritos. They are happy to alter their menu items per request, theyve got a great salsa bar, AND a universal soda machine with endless regular and diet options, not to mention margaritas and various bottled beers. This review is biased because Dos has been my absolute favorite place to grab take-out since they first opened in Davis many moons ago. I was delighted that there was this location in Elk Grove when we moved here. The service and food here is always satisfying. Never have I ever regretted a dollar spent on Dos! My go-to meal w/o overthinking the new, in-season items is the Ranchero Chicken Burrito. There is something on the menu for for everyone in the family-the kids under 10 usually get the kids quesadilla or the kids chicken and rice plate.Re: the atmosphere: I love it but the noise level is too much for my sensory sensitive child-though it hasnt been an issue because I do the take-out option anyhow. And w/COVID-19 in effect, just grab your food go anyway!

Dos coyotes has fresh, tex-mex inspired foods. My go-to is the border burrito, but I also like their Adobe salad and the Ranchero burrito. They have lots of good veggie and seafood options on their tacos, burritos, salads, and other menu items. It can get busy for dinner, so I would recommend calling your order in or placing an order online.

If I could give no stars I would. Very expensive for what you get. I ordered the shrimp tacos plate, received two flour tortillas tacos with 3 lil shrimps!! A bunch of Cole slaw on top. It was more like a veggie taco than a shrimp taco. With a spoon full of rice and black beans in the side. A family of four, two of us got the shrimp tacos, one got a burrito plate and the other order was a three taco basket. We each got a fountain drink and the total was $71!!! Totally overpriced for blah food. Very disappointed.

I love this place...well I did until I had this food experience. I am from out of town, but I visit Sacramento, I love coming to this location and ordering the Adobe Salad. However, today I ordered my meal to-go. When I got back to where I am staying and sat to eat, I was chewing, and a piece of lettuce was hard and tough. I discovered that it was a twist tie that I was chewing. After realizing it was a twist tie, I threw out my food. I will not return to this location or even bother going to another Dos establishment.

My sister gave my wife and I received a gift card for Dos Coyotes for Christmas. On 1/23/2020 my wife and I went to the Elk Grove location to use our gift card. My wife ordered a salad and I ordered a southwest plate of chicken taco and cheese enchilada. After eating half my plate, I notice what appeared to be a large piece of red onion. As I picked it up from my with my fork, it fell off and made a loud clunk!!! As I looked closer, it was a large piece of a broken plate. I notified the manager and all he did was refund my money and how sorry he was. I will never eat at a Dos Coyotes again!! The Manager did not even offer to replace my meal. Bad service!!

Food is good. Have gone 2 times now. Had a mango chicken quesadilla and a chicken burrito. Both times service was fast and friendly. Burrito was a little dry. How ever the plethora of salsa and pico de gallo options fixed that. Place is a little echoey and for November seemed a little breezy and cold. Inspite of that will return to try something else. Parking and handicap access is easy.

The Border Cafe is clean and has Pleasant seating. The food is pretty good, it is a Mexican place so usually get this same types of food to get in a Mexican food place. Its in a nice area where you can get other types of items as well. You can do your shopping, take a bite to eat, and then go do more shopping. Lots of parking in the place. Id say you did enjoy yourself if you want Mexican food and a quick bite to eat.

Clean restaurant, professional and courteous staff, and best of all... delicious food! Moldy cheese. We ordered the New Mexico Flat Enchiladas. They were inedible due to the moldy cheese with a mildewed flavor on top and off taste over all. I advised the staff who said they would advise the cook. The 2 enchilada dinners were replaced with a plate containing one mahi taco and one carne taco. Not much for a $10 each dinner. I couldn’t believe the indifference and lack of customer Service. I have never had this experience before at any of the Dos Coyotes Border Cafes. I am disappointed and doubt I will return.

Dos Coyotes, a place Ive went to so many times growing up, now I had a lot of Mexican food before, but this was a different style to it, and being able to experience this new flavor is incredible, you cant go wrong with the steak here in a burrito, quesadilla, or my favorite, the Navajo nachos. Bad. Left my table to use the restroom and when I came back my food was gone, and my daughters books. After being passed through 4 employees, 2 who saw me head to the restroom with my daughter, told me my table had been bussed, the books were behind the counter, amd my to-go box was thrown away. Very young immature staff. One of our friends order came out wrong and the server was passive aggressive about fixing it. When told what the order should be she said she would fix it but then didnt. Came back with another order wrong. And didnt fix that one either. Then fixed an order but the wrong one. Initial order was never corrected. Then came back and said the order was correct all along. What it came down to after 4 or 5 times of going back and forth was what was ordered and what was entered into the ordering system.
