Great to support a local business. The coffee is decent quality. I just wish they didnt charge so much for a tiny splash of non-dairy milk, and theres a bin of plastic creamers instead of a pitcher of milk. Yuck. They create so much garbage. If you are into protecting the environment, you are the problem. They wont even let me use my own travel mug there. 20 years in the past, but as there are no indie coffee shops otherwise, Ill support them until a better coffee house opens. And thats unlikely.

My husband and I ordered sandwiches from here and they were soooo good! I ordered the Chicken Bacon Avocado sandwich 🥪 with honey mustard. The sandwich was good but the honey mustard made it even better ❤️. The workers were friendly and welcoming which is always a plus. I will definitely order from here again 😁 I recommend people give this place a try.P.s.Please excuse me taking a picture of my sandwich wrong side up🤦🏾‍♀️😆

The food was tasty, well prepared and filling...but something was missing. I think theres supposed to be mustard on corned beef? Oh well, even without it its worth going back for the quality of the ingredients, the friendly staff and the really comfortable atmosphere. Theres a reason theyve been so recognized. Looking forward to trying several other menu items.

Ive eaten here alot and its been Pretty Good. Today was a Disaster. Ordered Clam Chowder, and got Clam Porridge, Very Bad. Tasted as if Someone put the Mixture in a Blender and made Mush. Tuna sandwich was Juicy and Wet. Tomatoes were wilted, beat up and Limp. Please Get that Kid out of the Kitchen. He served Bad Product today. No attention to detail. Mushy Soup and Wilted tomatoes. How can Someone sell that to Customers. Tall Young Man in Kitchen Blew IT!! Come on Folks, I know you can do Better.

Not feeling good today, and all I wanted was a really good sandwich. Mission accomplished. We recently moved to Hemet and have yet to find favorites when it comes to food establishments, Downtown Deli definitely made my list. I ordered the Turkey BLT Avocado and Cheese with a side of potato salad, my daughter ordered a classic BLT with Avocado. The total was almost $40, so I was a little shocked at that and thought, this sandwich better be worth it. It was!! It was about a 15 minute wait before our order was ready and we were on our way home. I was actually really excited to open up the takeout box and get a look at this sandwich. Let me tell you, the sandwiches are HUGE! The first bite was full of just absolutely great flavor, honestly the BEST sandwich Ive ever had!! The blend of salt, pepper, and oregano mixed with the avocado and fresh produce was just so freaking good. The potato salad was almost as good as my mamas and that says ALOT! It was just really so good. I thought 15 minutes was a long wait, but now I get it. These sandwiches are made with love and pride and you can taste it. During those 15 minutes I took some time to learn about the owner of the Deli, Stephen. I had to hold back tears after learning about how involved he was with his community and how loved he was by the community. He passed in 2019 and Im just really happy that his legacy is being carried on. He would be so proud of the great job you are all doing at Downtown Deli, such a welcoming atmosphere, built with love for sure. I highly, highly recommend Downtown Deli.

My new favorite spot! We came for the breakfast (not pictured) and it was so good we came back for lunch to try their infamous sandwiches. We were not disappointed! So good I dont think Ill ever go back to Subway. The prices are fair, the atmosphere is beautifully decorated as well as shelves for take a book - leave a book

Great place in downtown Hemet.Sells excellent sandwiches. Coffee available.There are lots of books and board games. Great place to eat lunch and hang out.The seating area is large and is great for solo visitors or groups.

My husband and I have had lunch here 3 or 4 times. They have daily specials that are a bargain. The sandwiches are very tasty with lots of meat and the potato & macaroni salads are good. I keep saying Im going to try their coffees, but havent yet; they look really good, so maybe next time.

I really wish my second time there was as great as my first, it was not. I was so excited to finally find a decent Deli. Reading other reviews i realized it is good or bad depending on who is working that day and if they actually have been trained on how to make a sandwich. So i wont be taking a chance and returning. My sandwich was exactly the opposite of what i very clearly asked for. The assistant Manager couldnt have cared less. Sad but true. The very worst customer service that left a worst taste in my mouth than the sandwich. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

Really disappointed in the food here the last several times I’ve been here. I used to recommend this place but I won’t be doing that anymore. The quality of food has really gone down as well as some aspects of customer service. I ordered a Reuben today and was extremely disappointed. The bread was hard on the edges and the sandwich was extremely dry… barely any dressing at all. Nothing worse than a dry sandwich. The peach smoothie that I ordered wasn’t delicious like the last time I ordered. Why would it be different?? Also, the last time I ordered food I added potato salad at the end and was charged for it. Unfortunately, when I got home the potato salad was not in my bag. It wasn’t busy at the time so nobody should have been distracted by anything else. The order should’ve been checked before it was given to me. Anyway this used to be one of my favorite places but not anymore unfortunately. So sad to say

This is nice quiet gem right in downtown Hemet. Opened in 2014, this place has a nice ambience. Their food is also delicious and prepared fresh. Coffee is pretty decent too.

Wow so disappointed, beautiful place, decorated nicely. BUT..... I got the socal Blt, the worst blt ever. 8.00$, 2 slivers of half tomato slice, microwave pre cooked bacon. No flavor hoagie roll ? It was the half. I usually get a cold brew when I go to a coffee house. $6.50 for a small. No way!!!!! Customer service was lack luster I tried to be friendly but it was on dull reception. Again beautiful place but again I wont order food

Quaint and Enjoyable coffee house. Larger than I expected. Food is delicious and many choices. Coffee selection is vast, and they are willing to explore new drink options. Did not feel rushed to get out. Staff was extraordinary, polite, and very kind as we could not make up our minds. This place is a gem to be found in our town! We will return.

Very very cute place. Loved the vibes it gave off as soon as you walked in. The drinks were good. Only thing I would say was I got the breakfast daybreak bagel and I couldnt really read the ingredients because the print is so small on the menu. They put way too much cream cheese in the sandwich which kind of ruined it. It over powered it.

I always have a great experience here. Everyone who works here is always so nice and friendly. I love that they serve east coast style sandwiches since those are my favorite. I also really like their Reuben sandwich since its toasted instead of grilled so not greasy like a traditional Reuben but still flavorful. Such a nice place to relax for a bit and have a beverage.

Wonderful oasis in a sea of chaos. Located in the older section of Hemet, on Harvard Street, with plenty of parking available in the area. Awesome little gem on Harvard. Great coffee selections and yummy sandwiches and salads. Great place for a light weekend lunch (or you can just enjoy a coffee and a book). There is a shelf of donated books you can read and even take home if you wish. Staff is very friendly and establishment is very clean.

Great ambiance and style! Super deluxe feeling. Friendly staff. And.... CLEAN!Would love to be able to enjoy a glass of wine here and listen to a live band. (Maybe a thought for future to get a wine license?)The music is easy going and sometimes upbeat. Great for swooning, talking or just to lounge. There are some faux fireplaces, lots of photos (historical artifacts) and plenty of seating. Shelves full with books and some armoirs that house books as well. It creates a nice look. Sofas, chairs and barstools. We will for sure return! 👌P.s. superclean restrooms!!!Plenty parking as well.

This place is pretty amazing! The location is great and easy to find. The decorations are beautiful inside and out! The menu is extensive, they even have daily/weekly specials. I took a picture of specific coffee beans they have because it was interesting to see a local joint actually have locally produced coffee beans! I loved the setting. It was very comforting and relaxed. The ambience was great! Definitely a place I will be coming to more often! The only thing I didnt like is that they dont accept American Express but I didnt subtract any stars because its something easy to get passed. The staff was extremely friendly and you couldnt ask for better customer service from them! I had their Harvard District Salad and Cafe Mocha (Hot), and the salad was crisp and refreshing and the coffee was smooth! Love this place!

Location is key for them and sadly I dont think enough people know about this place. Awesome inside atmosphere and the limited seating outside that could use some help is still great for how hometown and quality feeling you get when you eat here. I wished they noted that the bread is always toasted as I didnt know that the 1st time I ate here and was a little let down with the fresh but overly toasted bread. Quality food and sized sandwiches for sure. Will head back soon to try their coffee.

Just ordered the New Yorker.. didnt know if it was a hot sandwich, it is! (Forgot to bring my reading glasses in) Was asked what kinda bread Id like it on, I said, which do you prefer? We met there to plan my Grandsons wedding. There were 5 of us. It was my first time. The place was busy but, there was plenty of seating available. When our whole party was present we approached the counter to place our order. I ordered the daily special which includes a sandwich, chips and a drink for a very reasonable price. The others ordered a French dip sandwich, Philly Cheese steaks, chowder and coffee specialty drinks. We all enjoyed our food and, they bring it to our table. The employees were friendly and accommodating. The decor was lovely and clean. We will definitely be going back!

Went there for the first time today. I Loved the atmosphere and the setting. Probably the cutest place I found in all of Hemet. But very disappointed in the sandwiches. The Philly steak sandwich was tasteless, and the bacon avocado chicken sandwich was bland, too. The lettuce tasted old and processed. Both were just low quality sandwiches. If I go back, Ill pass on the food and just order coffee.

This place is horrible at knowing how to take orders down. The young lady I had greet me at the register was polite and helpful; however whoever is making sandwiches back there did not know what they were doing. I asked if it was possible to have the veggie ultimate with added chicken breast. The cashier said yes though had to ask the giy in the back how to charge it. I asked for a foot long and not was I only charged $24+ for both sandwiches (which is completely ridiculous) but they served the sandwich on a regular piece of toast which aparently they call artisan but was left with all the ultimate vegies out like the sprouts and AVOCADO! The taste in the sandwich was good and fresh but will definitley never be going back to get ripped off again.

Wow what a little gem. We had a bagel ( the only place that sold them in town) and the ham and cheese croissant. Both were great and we would recommend either the coffee was better than Starbucks. Side note my wife has stomach issues and has to drink low acid coffee their roast didnt cause her problems. Dont know if this is important but she had an iced mix. Had a sandwich (Meatball) it was good not a rock star but good for lunch. Their menu isnt vast but good offering. Not a place for dinner but awesome choice for breakfast or lunch. Also has a very cool atmosphere.

The dining space and decor is very coffee shop cozy, warm and inviting, while the outdoor curbside tables & shade umbrellas have that classic cafe feel. Delicious food, delightful friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Downtown Deli & Coffee Company is a true jewel of Hemet. I wish they were in business when I was growing up here but as and adult I can appreciate this business more. I am glad theyre still open, which is a testament to this business. A small cozy coffee and deli shop. The name says it all.Your greeted by a small reception/ordering booth when you first walk in. They have a decent range of food from cheesesteaks to smoothies and coffee. Once your done ordering you are left to explore the store well you wait for your food.Opposed to just simple chairs and tables the owners went above and beyond with the decor. Each wall is covered in striking but cozy images, wood carvings, and bits of nature. Feeling like a summer lodge in the middle of a city.10/10 would recommend for dates or just getting work done

Since the new staff, this location has gone downhill. No experience in the hospitality industry. Just a bunch of kids.Update 10/10/2022:Me and boyfriend decided to give them a chance again. He paid, and I agreed because I dont give downtown deli my money anymore, since the last incident and they never made it right. 9:41 in the morning first time here heard so much about this place my order was2 drinks and a breakfast sandwich and got turned away because they don’t have change for 100. Amazing food and great service every time i stop by. It may cost a bit more than some other sandwich shops in town but believe me, IT IS WORTH IT! Ruined me for the other sandwich chains. The bread was fresh and none of the veggies or meats on my sandwich had the this product has been sitting in a bin, in the back of the fridge, for two weeks taste offered by other shops in town. If you havent tried it, i highly recommend you give them a shot. Be prepared for a bit of a wait time as they are very popular, not because of slow service.

After 45 minutes we asked how much longer. They responded they did not have an order. We just got a refund. No apology. Nothing. They acted like they were put out. We got the refund and they refused to refund the tip.This is the 3rd time weve tried this shop and will be the last.

We usually like to come here when we are in the mood for a sandwich. The coffees are pretty good and the sandwiches are fresh. Today our order took at least 30-40 minutes. Ordered a wrap, a sandwich, a salad and a couple of drinks. In the middle of my card transaction the woman left and handed us off to a young man, but she didn’t bother to relay the order to the young man. I really like this cafe. Its warm and inviting, like having a cup of coffee in your own home. The staff is really nice and greet you with a smile. Been here a few times, its been decent enough but I dont think Im gonna go back anymore. There was a misinterpretation on our part when they said there was an ingredient missing to make one of our drinks, so they offered a replacement or a refund. We decided that we wanted a refund on my drink, my partner realized his was way too sweet to consume. The gal with colored hair offered another replacement drink, I said no I just want the refund. She got visibly upset and instead of just giving us the exact amount paid to be fair, she just has the tall cashier guy throw $6 and walks away without another word. He was at least courteous to wish us a good rest of our day. We had just gone in a week or so before and were content with what we got, so idk what was going on this particular night. I really like to see a successful coffee shop thats not sporting a mermaid logo! Very good coffee and sandwiches.On a critical note they struggled multiple times to make me a simple iced coffee. Hot coffee and not enough ice makes for tepid watered down java.. Not enjoyable. So now everyone is into cold-brew which is fine except it costs at least 1$ more than chilled drip. Even after this I couldnt reasonably take more than a half star despite this chilled coffee controversy. Comfy digs, friendly staff and quality ingredients equals 5 stars ;)=

Ive been eating here since it opened and quite frankly the sandwiches have gone waaay down hill! the bread is hard and chewy kinda like when you microwave something to long. And the sandwiches are made sloppy and 2 times the lettuce has been slimey. I dont know whats going on but i have noticed their good sandwich makers are gone. So get it together guys or ill have to keep eating at fresh cut!!!

Absolutely love this place. Had the pastrami and the wife had the downtowner seriously the best pastrami sandwich I have ever eaten. I will undoubtedly go out of my way to come here. It is worth the drive from wherever.

The Sandwiches are good but for the price$$ when you order a delivery its hardly ever complete. I ordered a french dip and did not have the dip with it. I called them and Chris the MANAGER lol told me come pick it up😈 lol lol lol. If I wanted to pick up I would have not ordered a delivery. He did not even show that he cared or sorry or said lets see how we can fix this. I said dont you know anything about customer Svc? His answer... dont know what cs is but abviously you do. That was his answer. For a $14 sandwiches he should appreciate his customer not try to intimidate them by answers like this. Rude service, I got their on a Saturday driving from Murrieta we got there at 7:30 pm and Brandon told us we had to take it to go! why we were there before they closed and never should turn away a customer and say such a thing, HOW RUDE!!! I dont care how good the food is Customer Service is everything!!! and the lady who also works there with black hair and tattoos is also very sarcastic and comes off rude. So My family will not be returning! just because you hit the # 1 list doesnt give any company the okay to treat people poorly that is how you lose business not gain. I think you should get off your high horse and having a attitude like people need you more than you need them. your customers should be number #1 and treated that way..

This rating is solely based on the very attentive and exceptional service performed by Cynthia and Todd on Monday April 17th around 12pm. My family rarely has time to see each other we decided as San Jacinto locals and good neighbors to try this gem in our historic town. We all hold jobs in customer service. One of your workers made it extremely uncomfortable to order or to even ask what specialty or drink was recommended. Cynthia took over and took our order. The other girl just stared and showed great impatience didnt respond to questions of the menu. The same girl gave my younger sister attitude when she asked for her money back and even made it uncomfortable to get her money back. I never quite understood just how valuable and satisfying a helpful and grateful personality is until yesterday. I left hungry and frankly disappointed I didnt spend my intended time with a family in a part of the city near and dear to my heart and stomach over sub par service by one person. We dont ask for freebies or refunds but we hope you let your staff know just how pivotal a meal can be to someones day. I hope Cynthia continues to smile and enjoy her employment as Im sure other companies would be thrilled to recruit such a friendly and attentive person as a courtesy clerk.

Here is the rare success story for an upstart business in modern Hemet. Downtown Deli is now two storefronts wide on the only one-way street in town, historic Harvard Street. The decor is eclectic, the coffee is rich, and the sub sandwiches (my reason for going) are big and delicious. It gets really busy around lunchtime on weekdays, but why wouldnt it be the spot for the professional set? One of the only top-notch mom-and-pops in Hemet, dont miss it!

Went this past Friday and ordered our usual drinks. Have to say it was horrible. I think the problem is the new people filling in for our usual barista. The Blondie we got was bland and watered down, the peppermint latte I got was luke warm and had no flavor. The drinks have always been delicious, until now.

I have tried numerous sandwiches, and all have been good. I keep going back to try a different one, and find I am unable to pick out one that I like the best. Sure beats Subway, Jersey Mikes or any of the chain sub places.
