Called ahead of time and asked about the pasta. The person I spoke to told me the prices of the pasta and a few other food items because their website doesnt have menu prices. They failed to mention over the phone that they only serve the pasta part of the menu on certain days so when we drove all the way over there, it was nothing but a waste of time. The Tavern is labeled Family Restaurant, yet does not have enough seating for families and the whole place smells like mildew, dirty laundry and bad body odor. Dont get your hopes up about eating here, they have a small menu and half if it they dont even serve on certain days. Word of advice, go somewhere else if you want good food, and a clean place to eat. First time going into this place and it was an absolute horrid experience.

Awesome sandwiches ! I had the Mexicali and my husband had Curry. Both were great. Sweet potato fries fresh, crisp and amazing ! The buns were so fresh and just the right amount of crisp at the edges.. 10/10 recommend!!

This bar and restaurant is a local staple that has served the local military for a long time. The burgers are great and the beers on tap pair perfectly. Perfect for a small group to grab a meal before heading into town. It is tucked away in a neighborhood near the Presidio but there is street parking available. The gate from the base is closed.

Great place for DLI students to just walk off campus and grab an AMAZING burger for lunch. I had my honeymoon in Monterey just so I could come back to this place, great, friendly service and excellent food, really nice vibe. Couldnt recommend a better burger in the city. Im glad to see this place weathered COVID and also not surprised, consistently high-quality service and food.

This is an absolute must for a good fix for yummy delicious comfort food - HUGE sandwiches that are scrumptious and if you need a good mom or grandma fix, Debbie will fit that bill and take great care of you. Beside the menu holding so many choices to choose from, it also contains plenty of quirky fun information to make you laugh. Sitting next the the lovely ornate and historical gate of the DLI Defense Language Institute for all Military- this is the perfect place to come for fabulous food and plentiful drinks. So glad that my husband found such a gem!!

Been here once before. Its cool because its right next to base and a strong supporter of the military.First time we went, it was a pleasant experience. The food was hot and the bartender was nice.Second time (tonight) was HORRIBLE. The food itself wasnt great but wasnt bad, but thats probably because they only had one server there doing what looked like everything but cooking, so the food wasnt too hot. Not her fault they were understaffed, so I dont blame her for that. It was probably pretty stressful to her being the only server there.However, that doesnt excuse being rude to the customers. Ive worked in restaurants for five years, and even if youre having a bad night, its never okay to take it out on the customers, ESPECIALLY when they are being nice to you (like we were). It felt like our mere presence there put her into defense mode. It felt like nearly everything we did, it seemed like she had to correct and make us feel like we were in the wrong, even though we went out of our way to be nice.Thats the kicker, and sad to say, I will never go back to Duffys again because of this experience. However, I do hope it continues to be a base favorite and that others will have a better experience than we did.

I went here for the first time tonight. We got the California chicken sandwich, the reuben, the bacon burger, and a childs cheeseburger, and they were all delicious. The vibe was really chill, and the server was welcoming. She took my little one back to get a bucket of crayons and a coloring page to work on while our food was being prepared. The place was a bit cold, but the door was propped open when we got there. Also, the bathroom was clean. I will be happy to come back here again.

The prices are great, but the food has been okay at best.Im not sure what the woman working tonight has going on, but it doesnt make me want to return anytime soon. I felt uncomfortable from the moment we were greeted and would have left if we werent there with other people.Our friends young son wanted to be helpful and grabbed us all menus, but by the womans reaction and rude remarks, you would have thought we all committed an unforgivable act. Other comments and jabs were made to the rest of us, but she focused on the kid like he was trying to steal her job or something.I cant speak for the rest of the group, but after tonight, I wont be going back.

Nice place away from the tourists. Ate there over 20 years ago but forgot about it. Have eaten there several times recently and always get served great food! The onion rings are the best Ive had in a very long time. Nice variety - something for everyone, including children. Will be eating there more often now. Wait staff is friendly (already remembers our family) and accommodating.

Family friendly - as advertised!Small, but there was room for our family of six with two babies (had high chairs available). They provided crayons and coloring pages, and had star wars playing at the bar so my kids were happy.We got spaghetti and fish sticks off the kids menu and both were good. We also had burgers and the Cobb salad which were delicious.Service was friendly and fast. Not much parking, but not too busy Saturday afternoon. Would recommend!

Go there because it’s a little British style neighborhood pub near The Presidio of Monterey. It’s not busy, parking is limited, but they have Shiner Bock on draft. It won’t be crowded with tourists and the service is fast and friendly. Prices aren’t outrageous either. It’s about as good as you can get for a bar in Monterey.

What a wonderful hidden gem! We came down from Auburn for a visit and one night had a craving for a burger. We found this place and we were not disappointed. Our bacon and bleu cheese burgers were amazing along with the side of giant crispy onion rings. We will be back when we make another visit. Thank you very much!

I went in not expecting much, but the service, food, and general friendly atmosphere from a largely locals restaurant blew me out of the water. The calamari although not perfect was leagues ahead of most with it being tender and seasoned well. The bacon cheddar burger was thick, cooked to specification, and tasty. The freshly ground turkey burger was the best we’ve ever had and truly an excellent reason to come back in itself . The buns are also fresh, slightly grilled with butter and everything you didn’t know you wanted in a burger bun. We even had a child with us and the selection for little ones was reasonable. 10/10 will come again.(sorry no pictures, we ate everything too fast)

This place is just outside the Presidio gate in Monterey. It is in a residential neighborhood. Parking is on the street, but not a problem. Staff is great. Amanda is friendly and helpful. Food is very good with lots of choices. There is a bar, booths and tables. One can see the whole dining area. Lots of military decorations from past diners so it must be the place for them to hang out.

This is a no frills place with lots of personality. Very military friendly. The whole place is decorated with military patches. We loved it, grandparents and children both.

Talk about your fun out of the way eating experience. At the back entrance to The Presidio. Duffys certainly dates back to a different era...probably at least to the 40s. Our rating on 1-10 was an 8 compared to a 9 for the Oasis Burger (Menlo Park, now closed) and an 8 for the Lube Room Burger (Arnold/Dorrington). We’ll be back 😎

Duffys is amazing! This is a unique neighborhood experience in Monterey. The service is excellent and their burgers are unrivaled! Seriously, I absolutely recommend visiting this establishment and talking to the owner, who always has a good joke, and staying for dinner. This place isnt bad, tiny little building with decent food and beers. I had their chili burger, it wasnt bad.They have some board games and a dart board in the back. The people here are nice too. My biggest gripe about the place is that its cash only. There may have been a sign about this, but its not very noticeable if so. They have an ATM, but it charges like $3 or $4.

Totally not how it looks on google maps. For some reason they mention steaks, but they dont actually sell any. Walked in and immediately felt uncomfortable. Everyone fell silent as we made our way to our seats. I guess the bartender was the waiter as well because he was the one that told us to sit where we like, but he never came to give us a menu or ask what we wanted. Left right away and everyone inside began talking again. It was weird.

Duffys was chosen because the web site menu listed capped mushrooms. They dont have them. The internet menu is incorrect and the owner doesnt know who posted it. What they do have is a very small gathering place for locals. Everyone knew everyone and it was entertaining to see them greet and interact with each other. Terrible service, was there with my husband for 30 minutes before we got up and left. It was only us and two people at the bar but the waitress couldnt be bothered to take our order or serve us our drinks. She was too busy chatting. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
