I love Easy Creole.Though I noticed they’re closed walking by the other day. They were one of my favorite places. My partner and I had our last meal out together right before the pandemic shut down in 2020. And have loved getting together with friends there since the world opening back up again.Gratitude to these folks for their yummy affordable comfort food and the cool funky space they created for the community. So good! Get the tequila caliente, it’s SO flavorful and not too spicy. The chicken etouffee is amazing too. Fast and terrific comfort food. Definitely check it out.

An amazing find!!!! The food was DELICIOUS and we loved the service and atmosphere. My fiance and I tried four things by doing two half and half plates - all dishes were AMAZING. The food is not good. Flavorless. Zero spice. Its not creole food at all and is really disappointing if youre from the Southeast. The bread was the best thing. Got the gumbo and shrimp etouffee. The staff was friendly and the decor inside and outdoor seating is nice.

The food here is so good, and it is really a unique place, I just cant understand why its not packed all the time. The staff is great with their suggestions, and half the time I just let them choose for me. While the meat dishes look great, I tend to order from the vegan side of the menu. Ive been going here for years and I have never been disappointed. If you have never eaten at Easy Creole, stop whatever it is youre doing and go there right now!

Talk about a meal with flavor! My meal was half chicken and half chorizo and it was very tasty and food with flavor. Options of either white or brown rice and come with the bread. I overheard the cornbread is popping (I guess I missed out)

Stopped by this place since I was in Berkeley and I do love me some ragin cajun food. There was also outdoor eating and the inside was so cool and neato. Owner was cool, he told us the menu tends to change but whatever is on the board today is the menu. He had 2 water dispenser, one was regular water and the other had limes and orange peels in it, twas delicious. My husband ordered the gumbo with onions and I ordered the shrimp ettouffe with cheese, sour cream, and onions. Everything was done in under 10 minutes. It. Was. FANTASTIC! Will come back, 10/10.

Really nice staff. Ive never ordered anything I didnt like, from both the meat & the veggie menu. Big guy in the back is the owner/head chef if I remember correctly. Talked with him for a bit during a slow-ish day at the register. Easy-going guy, passionate about his work. Havent been here in a while, but this is definitely a go-to when Im in the area.

Honestly, I cant believe it took me 10 years to find this place. There is still a New Orleans itch that can only be scratched in New Orleans itself, but I must say, this comes pretty close, the folks there are great, the space is fun, and the food is delicious. Go check it out! As an omnivore, i thought that half the menu being vegan (and TASTY) is impressive.

Found this almost by accident. Was heading to this Thai place nearby, but they didnt have seating that day (some renovation work going on), which forced me to Yelp for things nearby. And this place showed up.Ive (I had?) never had Creole food before. So you know. I have nothing really to compare against. But I thought the food here was yummy and I loved that they had a bunch of bottles of hot sauces all around the tables.The place is filled with red light and an insane number of photos and paintings and such. New Orleans vibes, Im assuming. Though I havent been there yet, either. There are these two mannequins, that can be creepy depending on which table you sit on (through the corner of my eye, I kept thinking that someone is staring at me eat lol).The main guy who took my order was very friendly and gave me samples as soon as I said Id never been there before (I asked for extra samples 😬). You order at the counter and then go sit and the food comes to you in very little time.The food was yummy. Had a kick to it, and I made it extra kick-y, with the various hot sauces. Imma attach photos of the table, so that you know what types of sauces Im talking about. Was full midway through, and took the rest to go and ate that for breakfast (enjoyed it again!)Definitely a place to go back to.

I love Louisiana cuisine, so when I stumbled upon Easy Creole, I was excited to try what was on their menu, as it apparently changes daily. I thought the Creole Bechamel with Shrimp and Sausage was tasty, but the quantity of shrimp and sausage was underwhelming. On the other hand, I did not like the Honey Bourbon Chicken, but the amount they piled on the plate was massive, much to my dismay. I later saw someone else sample the dishes before they ordered, and I wish I had done that before committing. Lesson learned. I did love the cornbread with honey and butter at least. The staff was very nice, and the decor interesting. Its a cute spot; just be sure to sample if youre unsure.

I try to hit Easy Creole whenever Im in town. Its a limited menu, yes, but everything is delicious and they always have vegetarian and gluten free options. Their menu rotates so theres always something to look forward to, and you can ask for their generous samples.

Fairly decent place! So why not 5 stars across the board? Well, because the minuscule amount of hot link pieces in the red beans and rice was disappointing, to put it mildly. I can understand wanting or needing to shave down costs... Maybe they dont standardize the amount of hot links in that dish and my dining partner and I both just got unlucky? She mentioned the same thing.I did enjoy the powerful flatulence the next morning though! It felt like a windstorm cleansing my innards.Edit in response to the owners reply:No, I wont do that... Ive worked in hospitality and the catering industry for twenty years. Thus, Im FAR too familiar with the fact that calling something to the attention of your waiter almost invariably leads to experiencing passive-aggressivity at best.But what I CAN do is leave an honest review online- that way I can share my true experience without having to feel made to feel lame, dumb, etc....Im giving your business honest feedback- putting three or four pieces of sausage in the meal is poor practice. Youre saving a dollar at the expense of creating a happy customer.If youve ever read any less than 5-star reviews of any business every business owner replies the same way- why didnt you just call it to your waiters attention?Im calling attention to it now, via online reviews- for the reasons Ive covered.Stop taking things so personally and try accepting constructive feedback. Decided to get this as a late dinner just flew in and man o man this spot really surprised me, corn bread was sweet and delicious, I did the 2 plates and ate it with the toast it came with. Stopped by here on the way to the Bar next door to see if they had beignets (they dont), but the guy was friendly and said the food was good and hed let us try it out. So we got some samples and it was good. Like really good. We ended up getting the Red Beans & Rice w/ Hot Links and then a Bread Pudding. We took them next door to have some beer with them and the food was all quite good. Price was fair, and as mentioned the employees were great. Im hoping to stop here for a more complete meal at some point.

Yum! Went around late lunch afternoon (2pm) on a Saturday with friends! Plenty of seating inside and outside. We had been here about 5 years before when we visited Oakland and this time made a point of trying it out again. The food is good and didnt fail to impress as last time. There is no table service. Lovely little place in South Berkeley for comfort southern food. It is quite cozy and has a quirky decor. I really love all the portraits and show pieces that give the place its unique vibe. You need to order at the counter and find your own seat. The place doesnt seat a lot of people, so it can be difficult to find a seat sometimes. Half of their tables are community style so youll end up meeting new people. The people are friendly here. They also offered samplers when we werent able to decide between the wonderful set of options they have. They change their menu everyday which ensures we try new options Everytime we go there. What I absolutely love is the option to get half and half of any two items if you end up liking more than one options on the menu. It costs $13 including taxes, which isnt too expensive for the quality and quantity of food they serve. Their endless collection of hot sauces just adds to the flavors. My friends and I had a good time trying to taste as many as possible. My favorites so far have been shrimp etouffee, tequila caliente, Manhattan maque choux, and shrimp creole. Youre bound to find at least one of them on the menu when you visit. Love this place.

Deep flavors and spiciness abound here! I left full and very satisfied. Their menu is the perfect size for lunch/dinner - just enough variety to explore but you won’t have decision paralysis. I ordered a half plate of the spinach mushroom etoufee and half of the Thai peanut etoufee. Both were excellent and on balance I liked the Thai peanut more. Certainly, this place isn’t for everyone - if you don’t like spice or are looking for something light, I’d recommend elsewhere. But for a hearty meal, this was very delicious.

Neighborhood is kinda sketch but the food is worth the trek. No frills: order at the register and they will bring the food out to you, thats it. Im not sure what to really say about this place except that it is delicious and I have yet to experience any other Creole dishes that taste like the food they prepare here. Even after I was full to capacity I kept going back to my carryout box and eating more and more until I had none left. It was my first time going and I asked some customers what dishes did they purchase and if they like them and they happened to be regulars and gave me really good advice on what to choose. So far Ive tried the majority of the things on their menu and everything deserves it praise

First time going to this restuarant. My boyfriend and I went together with his son and daughter. Had a good time. Good food. Fresh to order. Its late March in the Bay area but still pretty chilly outside. They need heating lamps for their guests. The lamps thats there was for the bar right next door to them. I just think if youre offering outdoor seating you need to be sure your guests are comfortable.

A little lacking on flavors. It was prepared well, but just not enough spice or heat to make it authentic. I ordered a half and half plate of bourbon chicken and red beans w/ hot links. Nothing hot about it though and needs a generous serving of cayenne to get you where you want to go. Probably good for the West Coast palette, but not for those of us transplanted from the South.

Great food! Went with my family for dinner fir the first time. Great customer service. Everything is mostly etoufee. We had the red beans and rice with hot link and the shrimp etoufee, both of which were hella good. Topped it off with bread pudding, and we literally had to be wheeled away because our bellies were so full. Great outdoor dining option. Overall, awesome. Be sure to come hungry because the portions are large. Well be returning!

Easy Creole is a hidden gem in a world of restaurants trying to one up each other in terms of trendiness and price. It’s just hearty, extremely tasty, cheap food served on paper plates. I got the 2 item chicken etoufee and maque choux. Comes over white rice with a side of french bread. I can’t remember the last time I got this much good food for the price. Next time I would try the vegan options!

Easy Creole is fantastic! The best Creole food I’ve had in a long time. I had the Shrimp Etouffee and my friend had the Bourbon Red Beans with hot link sausage. We were very impressed with the flavors, large portions and inexpensive prices. $12 for a large portion of Shrimp Etouffee? Lots of shrimp, wonderful sauce and the buttery baguette was great. The Red Beans had plenty of sausage and more of the buttery baguette. (Also $12!) I will definitely return and refer Easy Creole to family and friends.

The sign over the door says creole, sort of. I have no complaints, none what-so-ever.Its a relaxed place with some family style seating. You order and then find yourself a place to sit, they bring your food to you. Music plays, but its quiet enough that it can be enjoyed but doesnt interfere with talking. No traditional sweet tea, but they do have simple syrup in a bottle right next to the regular iced tea so you can mix up your own without hassle (you just cant make sweet tea with traditional sugar, its all gritty).There is a clear separation on their menu between meat and vegetarian options. I appreciated that because when I went I wanted meat of some type, but some of the folks I go to lunch with would aim for the meatless options.For my first visit I had the jerk shrimp etouffee over brown rice. The gravy had really good mouth feel and a depth of flavor. They were generous with the shrimp as well. They give you the option to add cheese, sour cream, and onion. At the recommendation of the person helping me out I got all three. The raw onion mixed in with the other flavors pushed it over the top.I followed it up with the bread pudding. It was just a bit dry for my taste, but overall it was a great desert.Will I be back, oh yes I will.

One of the very Berkeley places, small, great deco, special concept, affordable. They only serve stews, will tell you what exactly is in every stew and give out samples to make the decision easier. The guy assisting us was very friendly and you can tell he enjoyed his job. The place has amazing food and is fantastically quirky. The staff is very friendly and will offer you samples of whichever option youd like to try. The food itself is very tasty, and comes in an ample portion! I like that you can combo two different entrees, or have all of one. To top it off, the interior is wacky (even a bit tacky) but very laid-back and comfortable. This is my go-to lunch spot. Love these guys and their easy, quick comfort food. What else?. Separate meat & vegetarian menus. They rotate items on both menus every day!. Order entrees loaded (w/chopped onions, cheese, & sour cream) for free.. Each entree is only $8-$10 (including tax + extra loaded toppings).. Nothing is fried (were in California, after all) so its healthier than you might expect.. Awesome people. Really.Everyone remembers my name (so nice!) and is super chill. Many folks who work here live in the neighborhood, which gives the place an extra nice feel.The place also has a ton of character. One of the owners, Grant, buys a lot of the decorations from flea markets and thrift stores. He made the salt & pepper dispensers from mini liquor bottles after getting the idea from his sister.TIP: See if you can find the drawing of Easy Creole on the wall. I just tried this place out with friends the other night. The food is excellent but it is spicy so beware! It is a limited rotating menu so they are quick to serve, but the pitfall is they may run out of a dish. (They ran out of bread pudding while I was there. Must have been good!) Ive been here twice and I feel compelled to write a review. Despite having devoured a pizza slice and a large sandwich 20 minutes earlier, I was drawn to this place on the way home. A sane person would have probably made a mental note and came back later or took the meal to go. I, however, have forfeited the plans to remain sane and ordered a combo meal with some cornbread on the side, with a sincere plan to eat some of it and take the rest home. Fast forward 10 minutes - I devoured the whole meal and if someone offered me another portion I would have accepted it. Excellent place in the Lorin to check out for some great Cajun/Creole -ish food, with a very Bay Area twist. Food is excellent with 5-6 vegetarian/vegan and 5-6 meat options available each day, all of which rotate out every day. All of the meals are great Cajun/Creole food, with generous portions and some excellent Creole garlic bread served on the side. In addition to a wide selection of New Orleans - sourced craft beverages, the gluten-free cornbread is an EXCELLENT side for the meals, as it is packed with flavor, and served with a wonderful honey-butter drizzle. The staff here are incredibly laid back and friendly, and always happy to offer samples of the days menu, or answer questions about the menu and the history of Cajun/Creole cuisine. As soon as you walk in, you will be instantly excited by the cool vibe of the place. Even from the outside you can tell this place is special; the sign still says Not Mings Chinese, with only a sidewalk sign that confirms youve arrived at Easy Creole. Every table has half a dozen to a dozen different bottles of hot sauce (my favorite is chili garlic, flavorful on just about everything), the walls are covered in pictures, but the ever changing food menu is the real prize. Usually about 10-12 dishes, half vegetarian half with meat, all served over rice. Id love to tell you what my favorites are, but truthfully Ive never gotten anything bad here. Every dish is served in an almost curry-like consistency, but the flavors are all creole and very delicious. Go for the half-half, something vegetarian something meaty, enjoy the garlic bread and you wont be disappointed.

It was spicy to the point I had to slow down to eat it, but given that I dont handle spice as well as most people, the taste was on point, and it was a good combination of veggies and meat.
