It is a good thai restaurant. They are quite popular with locals because of their good taste and reasonable prices.We ordered three food. All of them are good. However, green curry is too sweet for my taste. I would ask it to be more spicy next time!Overall, it is a good restaurant!

Food was delicious and the atmosphere looked pretty good for a saturday at 2pm. They accept EBT but theyre completely clueless about if they accept snap or cash. I was also overcharged but I think it was a genuine mistake. She just doesnt know about how it works. Ill add that Id prefer the staff to be friendlier at the front counter and more knowledgeable, but I will definitely come back. Hopefully they will have these corks figured out by the next time.

Best and quickest Thai food that I have found in LA. always super flavorful and always hits the spot! plus if you order take out and spend $30 dollars you get free egg rolls, which are super tasty!! everything feels so made with love as well. you can taste the quality and effort in every bite. Im sure theres better or whatever out there but for the price, so good always!

Food is delicious but they are very stingy with the portions. The rice and noodle orders for takeout is only filled halfway. Never a full portion. I never walk away with my takeout without feeling ripped off.

So I was a part of the group that came here on New Year’s Day and had to sit thru terrible service. Zero interest from the waitress in actually taking our orders. We asked her what the restaurant was known for, what their main dish was, and basically got back that this is a typical restaurant with no stand out dish from her beyond the classics. She didn’t even take the entire tables order before going inside. How are you going to take the two guys orders and then when it comes to my order just disappear inside? Because the end result of that was everyone else got their dishes while my entree came out last. And it’s not like I was undecided on what I wanted and asked for a few minutes. The food itself was average. The iced tea has no sugar, and the waitress ghosted our table throughout our stay so we couldn’t even get any requested. I get drunken noodles everywhere and the noodles portion here was small, not that much beef, and was ok. The best thing I had food wise was the Panko fried shrimp. I walked inside to use the bathroom and the place was almost totally empty, and the waitress no where to be seen. This is also after we watched her from the outside eating her meal at the customer table...so yea I clearly see how super busy this place was that service wasn’t a consideration.

I like to take out from here, its close to my apartment block, easy drive, just across Lincoln beyond the Costco. They do standards well, the pad Thai is a bit gooey for my taste, but its okay. I think the peanut sauce with the satay is too bland, but given I always cut up the meat and mix it with whatever else Im having, doesnt matter I suppose.The appetizers are where they shine, the satay is fine, but the bacon wrapped shrimp are killer. I eat a couple and then . . . cut them up and mix it with the noodles. Ah well. The chicken rolls are particularly good, real dense and meaty. You know what I do with them too. I like that you can delete the peas from the curry, peas dont belong in Thai.Nothing fancy, just American Thai for the masses, and thats exactly what I want for a takeout treat on a TV night. Considering its in a pretty high-rent district, the cost is reasonable. Parking might be an issue on a busy evening, but Ive never had a problem.

Friendly and accommodating staff, heard that we wanted to split some dishes so instsntly grabbed us four individual plates. We got the Pad Ekkamai, Sweet and Sour Vegetables Entree, Green Curry with Shrimp, and Thai Fried Rice. Green curry was very liquid, like a soup. Thought it was a bit bland. Fried rice was good, but not anything too out of the ordinary. Pad Ekkamai was flavor-packed, had a stronger garlic/spice flavor than a regular Pad Thai. Sweet and sour vegetables was really good, didnt think I would look forward to marinated pineapples but this dish was great. Oh, and we got a side order of brown rice (purple rice), which was really good.

Ive been to a lot of Thai restaurants, and this one is definitely among the best. The food is consistently delicious, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. This Thai restaurant has a great selection of vegetarian options, which is a huge plus for me. The flavors are amazing, and the service is always prompt and friendly.

I havent sat inside to eat, just takeout, but Ive been very happy with it, and the food is ready just about exactly when they say. Pad Thai can be dry or moist, this is on the moist side. The flavors were fine, and they tossed in seven shrimp, one more than standard, if there is such a thing. I think the green onions should be cut up more, nothing that cant be handled with kitchen scissors. The chicken/glass noodle rolls are one of my favorites, packed solid, nice, and the curries are as they should be.Particular notice to the spare ribs, very nicely cooked, super tender, full-size meaty ribs. But, not much flavor. Next time Ill apply a glaze, like Lums Char Sui, and put them under the broiler, that should work. Honey mixed with teriyaki would be fine, or barbecue sauce if you want. But the basic pork is great as a base, sometimes Asian ribs tend to be small and chewy.Do you really need to talk about prices in a Marina del Rey takeout place? Probably not, its going to make a dent, but thats the territory, a local wouldnt complain. Or apparently anywhere in L.A., prices seem to be uniform in the $ rated takeout world, so in that sense, theyre a bargain, considering the locale. I have a pantry full of Thai rice noodles, so this isnt something I do every day. But when I want to, this is my place, my car knows how to get there on its own by now. Of course its a very smart car.

Disappointed to say the least.2nd time trying this place and both times were disastrous.Food was not as flavorful as I expected and the service was RUDE, and slow. Seriously need to train employees on food service and customer service.This last time i ordered takeaway. They told me 25 mins or so. I arrived after the afforded time and they told me ten more mins. I was surprised that it wasnt ready but I patiently and politely waited for my order.Several things were alarming to me during my transaction. I witnessed a health code violation. The cashier was really Rude at one point. I rode a motorcycle to the restaurant and was holding my helmet. When she handed my my drink with a straw in it I asked her if she could wrap it in a bag like they normally do for takeout at Thai restaurants when traveling as I am obviously on a motorcycle. she grabbed the drink out of my hand and threw the straw on the counter.I mean. What kind of employee representing your business does that???I havent even gotten to the food yet. My wife who is not picky even said it wasnt good and it weirded her out.Chicken skewer- small. Rubbery. Dry and Cold. Did not taste fresh.Shrimp pad thai- flavorless. This is a standard Thai dish. How can this get messed up? Just seemed to lack the pazazz that I have grown accustomed to.Panang Curry Medium- NOT SPICY, little flavor. Not much to it. My least favorite part of the dish was the FROZEN PEAS and CARROTS. Shrimp also seemed a bit dried out and rubbery.I decided to give this restaurant another try due to the reviews I had seen. There are a lot of 5 star reviews so obviously there are people who love it. I did also see a lot of negative reviews regarding rude service and food issues so that said...Im not the only one to experience this. In my opinion 5 star is Awesome, food and service. 4 is pretty good, 3 is average, 2 is Meh. Meh minus one star is what I have to leave due to the unfriendly atmosphere and rude service I received. Just my opinion and my opinion alone but I believe Thai food is flavorful by nature, the lack thereof and the poor service that I received is just sub parr to my expectations and experiences. Certain things may take time and money to rectify but friendly service is free and pretty easy to achieve.My suggestion to you is try it for yourself, hopefully your experience will be different.As for the owners comment about me slamming the restaurant, it is not my intention to slam the restaurant or influence others, Im just stating my opinion about the food and service I received one night. I cant see it on Google but on yelp i have 200 reviews 4-star or above, 50 3-star, 40-2 star and only 60-1 star. I love to find amazing places, this might be one of them but just not my experience from a couple of visits.

I got the pad see ew with beef and the papaya salad (spicy). The pad see ew was slightly salty for me but it was very flavorful and the beef was thick and good quality. The papaya salad was really fresh too. Also want to emphasize how big the portion was for the price! Service was great. They have a parking lot right next to the restaurant so easy to find. Its take-out only so I would recommend you call them in advance for pick up. Definitely coming again!

Horrible! The customer service is so poor. All the owners care about is taking your money. They cater to white or people who have no idea about authentic Thai food. I have been to Thailand. This food is garbage and a disgusting representation of Thai food. My order came to $25.91. I presented them with a valid coupon which read $5.00 off any purchase of 25.00 or more and the young, rude Asian girl at the cash register wouldnt honor it.The coupon did not specify in print the tax aspect. And they were really rude about it when I brought it up. I complained about false advertisement and I was told that the owner would call me which was a flat out lie because no one from Ekkamai Thai restaurant ever reached out to me. And they have my direct contact information.All they cared about was taking my money. I believe that this restaurant is not going to be in business much longer because they are acting desperate for Money without consideration for quality and customer satisfaction.

We ordered Pad Thai-Fried Tofu, Green Curry-Chicken, Cucumber Salad and Veggie Egg Rolls.Everything was delicious. Spice level was good. I ordered Medium and Spicy. Great options for adding chilis, hot sauce, chili powder and peanut sauce to a to-go order. My only complaint would be that the egg rolls were a bit soggy/stale. I did the eggrols for free as an online order promotion. So I wont hold it against them cause everything else was fantastic.

So first time eating here for take out was referred by a friend spent almost close to 70 dollars. I was about to get ringed up to pay for my take out food the Japanese lady on the register stopped before I made my transaction and had the audacity to say “no tip” Excuse me? no tip?? for taking my order I understand if I was dining in . The only Thai restaurant I crave at all time... Everything is delicious!!!! Been coming here for like 10 years. I usually get the red curry with chicken. But when I want a change I get the noodles. I wasnt impressed when we arrived. The place looked okay, but the sofa seat against the wall is defective with a huge hole on the cushion. We decided to sit at another table thats right by the door(The place is tiny with about 8 tables inside and about 5 tables outside). The waitress came and dropped off menus and left right away, we werent impressed.Anyhow, decided to order 2 lunch specials and Tom Kha soup that we like from another place. When the soup came, we were impressed with the pot that actually has fire underneath to keep the soup warm. It tasted great, not too spicy, sour, or salty. Then food came and they tasted great as well. With medium level spicy, we found them not as spicy and both dishes we ordered had sweetness to them.Overall, Ill definitely come back for other dishes. They serve legit Thai dishes and they were tasty. Just not a place if you want a nicely decorated place for a meal.

I went to Yo San University across the street and I loved how they always offered us students discounts! Their food is ALWAYS good, especially their curries (although my favorite is the pineapple curry). Service is always quick, everyone is always so nice and friendly. And it doesnt feel very clean.*Having said all of that some of their dishes are really good they taste great they look great and for the price its mediocre. If they would be be more affordable it would be a great deal.Rice dishes should never be $17 when the atmosphere is as simple as this establishment.If the prices were a little less the food would be much more reasonable. If you ask for extra Side dishes they will cost you..similar restaurants will give you side dishes at no cost.but as far as taste goes and food quality : Pound for pound their dishes are exceptional.The ambience is mediocre and understated. The setting Accommodations is somewhat lower-class. the restrooms are good, and always kept clean.

I have ordered delivery from here 3 times now. Each time was very delicious, I am so pleased! The tom kha soup is perfect, and has fresh straw mushrooms in it. The green curry seems to have actual fresh bamboo shoot, which elevates it to the next level! The satay, garlic spinach and egg rolls have also been excellent. Great food an service! I love these types of restaurants as it is a converted old Taco Bell with some parking! The food was perfectly cooked and quick for lunch. Everything is Ala carte but the cost is still very reasonable ($10 per person for lunch). We ordered the fried tofu appetizer and several other vegetarian dishes. Also order the roasted pork and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Would recommend if you are looking for some good, cheap and quick Thai food.

Food is good and its relatively in expensive. Obviously seafood dishes will cost a bit of a premium but thats to be expected. They also have a thai cafe next door that has the same owners which is also good.When dining in the place is a bit cramped but not to the point where you should feel like you cant sit and enjoy your meal. The wait staff is pretty good about being attentive. My only issue and the reason for the 4 star is their customer service when they make mistakes or theres issues on their end tends to be extremely lacking to the point where you basically have to get in touch with the owner for you to get a response a normal place wouldnt hesitate to give you.The parking can be fairly difficult especially during prime time hours but overall is pretty readily available. They also do deliver to the local area for a $4 delivery fee which is realistically not that bad for LA.

Went back: Yellow curry was great. Boba was old and in a giant clump. Crispy pork: some pieces were so dry like theyd been fried 3-5 times. Others were soggy with dry meat. They also forgot our rice. Today they were much slower than my last visit. Im not sure what happened.Delicious food. Still hot once we got home despite the drive. Pumpkin (kabocha squash) in pumpkin curry was a little over cooked. Some of the best boba Ive ever had. Will be back for the spicy crispy pork as well.

Visiting town and stumbled across this place. It looked nice and the small sit-down area (probably under 15 tables) was packed. We only had to wait for minute before a seat opened up.Once seated, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Legit authentic Thai food at a very reasonable price. I called in to order take out on a Friday night during dinner time while I stayed nearby and they told me it’s going to take half an hour to prepare. When I arrived, the place is packed. Not bad at all. Prices are decent, food is good - not epic, but good. Service is okay.Honestly I struggled between 3 and 4 stars for this one but ultimately decided that 4 would work. I really enjoy the noodle dishes like the Pad Ekkamai (hold the egg, add shrimp).The building is an old Taco Bell location - its got that unmistakable design but that doesnt detract from it at all. It just means that really large parties are a bit of a challenge. We usually pick it up to go anyways.They also serve beer, which is a plus in my book.

Ordered Pad se yew + Krapow chicken with steamed rice. It was ok, but I wouldnt say delicious. Im going to give it another try, order something else and see if its any better. I will say that the ingredients did taste very fresh though even if the food was a bit tasteless. I have to admit I was slightly disappointed when I read all the glowing reviews on here however I did live in Thailand for a couple of years so I probably expect a little more authenticity with flavour than the locals.

This is not Thai food. I had the dumplings (gyoza) and Bam-Boom. Both were filled with massive sugar. Why would anyone put sugar in Gyoza/dumplings!? The bam-boom has a comically low amount of chicken. This was one of the very few times I had to just throw out entire meal. Also, this restaurant does not receive any special requests/instructions when ordering via Doordash so dont expect modifications. Disappointed in the service and dishonesty. After calling in my order and repeating it back and forth 3x for clarification. I was sent a wrong dinner item which was for family I had visiting that traveled from 2000 miles away. I called to rectify the mistake and I was told I would have to pay $2.16 for them to bring me the correct item on a $49 order not including a $4 tip. The person on the phone said she spoke to her manager and there was nothing she could do. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told he wasnt at the restaurant. 5/5I’m passionate about Thai food and have been to over 40 different Thai restaurants across most major US cities (SF, LA, NY, Dallas to name a few), not including many local spots in Bangkok and Phuket. Ekkamai is hands down the best Thai takeout Ive had to date. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lacking, but the food more than makes up for it. The Gai Kua Noodles with Chicken is awesome; haven’t found anything that comes close anywhere else. The pad kee mow is my go to dish and has the perfect chew and balance of sweet/Spicey/umami. The Green Curry is great, much better than competing green curries, but a little sweet. Given the sweetness of the Green Curry, I generally opt for the pumpkin curry which is also a winner. All in all, this is my go to Thai spot and the gold standard that I used to compare other establishments. Delivery radius to Playa Vista is decent too!

After looking at the large menu with way too many options to choose from we decided on a noodle and a protein dish. Who would have ever thought a Thai restaurant would pop up where an old Taco Bell used to stand? Although it is a small restaurant, Ekkamai serves up great Thai food. Their Chili with Holy Basil is spicy and flavorful and it great to indulge in with any protein. The red curry is best to have with beef and is more spicier than the yellow and green curries.My personal favorite is the Green Curry with chicken. It has that perfect balance of freshness from the basil, a hint of spiciness from the chili and Thai spices, and the sweetness from the coconut milk...so delicious and hearty!Their Ginger Onion shrimp is good but I thought it had too much sodium from the soy sauce and fish sauce. Tom yum soup is to die for but it was missing an ingredient that makes it fragrant and authentic on my last visit. It needed kafir lime leaves and galangal which is used in the soup. Still good without it but on fleek when its incorporated. The service is quick, specially during lunch hours. The staff is polite and friendly. Affordable prices.Parking is limited but theres street parking nearby. I recommend this spot if youre ever in the Mar Vista/Venice/Marina Del Rey neighborhood.

I live in the neighborhood and this is one of our go-to spots. If you want to copy and paste our experience, I recommend chasing after (a) the Tom Kha soup with chicken, (b) the Panang Curry with chicken, (c) a Monks Cafe Sour ale. Share that with someone and feel happy.Get the Tom Kha large, and treat yoself with a little white rice on the side.Ask them for a tray of spices / sauces before you dig in, and put a little rice at the bottom of your bowl before pouring the soup on it (oh baby). If you like it spicy, sprinkle those awesome red crushed pepper flakes on the rice before drenching it in coconut deliciousness.We always get a Monks Cafe sour ale, which has become one of my favorite beers. It comes at a reasonably price. Pro tip: ask for it in a glass, because for some reason its more delicious than out of the bottle.The panang curry gets a bronze medal in my opinion, but its good and my wife is all about it. My credit card was manually input at this location by someone for a total of $103.37 on April 21, 2018. The credit card was not present for the transaction, it was manually input. I reported the fraud this morning to my bank. I would not fault Ekkamai Thai if my credit card was present, yet it was not so buyers beware.

Really bad customer service ordered the noodle with shrimp and they brought me a order with chicken, when I told them the order was wrong the lady went to the kitchen and got 4 shrimp and threw the plate on my table the lady was very rude and was hurrying us up as we ate
