Just stopped here for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised! The place is tiny bit mighty! I was going to take pictures of the food before we started eating, but it smelled so good I forgot! The cabeza tacos were super authentic, reminded me of the cabeza my dad used to make in the backyard pit when I was a kid... The chips were cuspy,thick and warm, the salsa was good but not hot so we asked for the hotter stuff - it did not disappoint! The shreddded beef Taco was crispy, filled with tasty beef and nice and hot! If youre in the area and want something hot, yummy, and authentic Mexican, this is the place!

From the outside I had no idea that there was this much room inside for seating. Dont be afraid to stop and eat there. Plenty of space and really good Mexican food. The Birria tacos looked delicious but I had the three tacos with rice and beans. I watched a fish dish being taken to a table and wished I had ordered that too. Crispy giant fish on a plate. They also had Mexican Coca-Cola. So much better than what we have here.Down the street from work so Ill be coming back for a taco here and there for sure.

Checked out this place for the 1st time. It is one where you order and then sit down. They brought chips and salsa right away. The food came out shortly after. My wife ordered the green chile verde burrito that was pretty good. I ordered the two taco plate with rice & beans. The shredded beef tacos were good, but everything seemed to lack flavor, including the rice and beans. The cheese on the beans or tacos was cold shredded cheese, not melted. I dont know how this place has such a high score, and the food lacks an extra touch of love and flavor. It was pretty basic to me, and service was just OK. I honestly cant say it was great.

We ate there and they brought chips and salsa to the table. The salsa was so good we ordered some to go. The tostada was meaty and so heavily topped that Id consider it to come with a salad. The Birra quesadilla is tender and delicious... my favorite was the carne asada fries... I poured the salsa on top of it... if Im in the area Ill be back.

Pretty decent. The Carne asada was a tad overcooked. But still tasty. Beans and rice good. Very healthy portions. (Picture shows double meat serving i paid extra for.)The asada is Ranchera. Not some sub par cut like other places. So the price is really good. The plate comes smothered with grilled onions. The plate comes with guacamole, i asked them to remove. (Im one of the few Mexicans that doesnt like aguacates.🤷)One orders at the counter, but food is brought to your table. Self serve soda fountain drinks and some bottled stuff.It was good enough for me to return!

Was craving some street Mexican tacos, but not from a taco truck. This place has the best street tacos in Lawndale! Their tacos are by far the best in town and they put a lot of meat in them. 3 tacos is enough to fill you up. So worth the price. Carne asada tacos were tender and had no fat in them. The staff is also very funny (if you speak to them in Spanish)

I had 2 lengua, 1 carnitas, and 1 steak tacos. The food came quickly and all were super tasty. Lengua was the best, then steak, then carnitas. Their chips are the slightly thicker kind which I like better. All in all, its a perfect place for a quick lunch. Get there early cause parking can be an issue

Everything here is real good. Tacos, burritos, tortas, and plates. Maybe dont get the birria, it was beef based and under seasoned when I tried.Can be difficult to park due to tiny lot, but you can always circle around the block and find a spot on the street if needed.Small dining area with some outdoor patio space too.Overall, just great food.

Great food! Really hit the spot. A good amount of food for a great price.My daughter and I were looking for some great carne asada nearby and chose El Amigo based on the reviews.We loved the variety of the menu. I had the carne asada plate and my daughter had the carne asada tacos plate. I had the large Tamarindo...the cups are big, but good.The service at the register was great. They offer complimentary chips and salsa while you wait. True chips and the salsa was perfect. Chunky and bien picante!The plates came out full to the brim. Table service was great. The steak was seasoned just right and came with grilled onions. The rice and beans were a great compliment, not too dry or too runny.We finished the plates and ordered some to go for the rest of the family. We will be back!

EXTREMELY RUDE! If I could give no stars I would. I called to place an order worth over $200 for a business office and the person who answered the phone was absolutely disrespectful from the start. As I am telling him my order he interrupted me and says “why didn’t you tell me it was a big order” I asked him if that was a problem but regardlessWhat difference does it make?!!! Ive had the Carne Asada tacos from this place and they were pretty good. Today I had the 3 Chicken tacos and they were a LETDOWN; chicken was DRY and INSIPID -- like it was just boiled -- not sauteed along with the bellpepoers and onions which would have infused some flavor into it.I ended up removing the chicken and just having basically vegetarian tacos. Not even the hotsauce they put on it could save that meat. AVOID THE CHICKEN TACOS HERE. Also, their aguas frescas (fresh waters) are not fresh; theyre syrup based. I really like this place. It is small and does a lot of carryout service. There is limited indoor and patio dining. Parking is limited but a wait for parking is short due to lots of carryout service.I love Chili Verde and consider a good Chili Verde a mark of a good Mexican restaurant. Even in California the Chili Verde is often mostly or all tomatillos with little or no chili. The chili has to be there to get the correct flavor.This place served me large portions for both a sit-down meal and as take-out. The size was the same for either meal presentation. The Chili Verde shredded pork is mostly in big chunks. The sauce is appropriately spicy, medium to a little above medium. Maybe the dish could use a little extra sauce, but I have always been satisfied. A large serving of refritos beans and a slightly smaller serving of rice accompany a small salad with guacamole topping. I get corn or flower tortillas as I feel like it.

Delicious authentic Mexican food!!Small building with patio and just enough parking.We had tacos, enchiladas, and tequitos; they were all flavorful. Not consistent and be careful they overcharge you. They told me 2 tacos were 9.95 which is too expensive but I think if they can get away with this alot of people wont notice so they pocket the money. Carne asada is inconsistent sometimes good sometimes really bad and no flavor. First time I got birria tacos it came with a side of consume next time no consume. I have been going into El Amigo, alwaysordering inside, for a few years now. Tonight I made an innocent mistake of calling the wrong location(obviously not realizing). When I went in to pick up my order, we (the workerand myself) realized I called the wrong location. I immediately called to cancle and apoligize. Quickly after the worker at the other location to which I called, told them NOT to sell me anything and I would have to go pick up at other location. I sincerely apologized for the confusion, but was not going to drive somehwhere I am not familar with. So basically for a $12 fajita they lost my business for life.I have NEVER experieced such awful customer service in all my life. I will NEVER return to them again. I CANT believe that this is the way they run their business.

Never had a bad experience at El Amigo. They have such great food. Honestly the closest to homemade Mexican cooking as you can get. They have excellent customer service, the guys are super helpful, fast and friendly.They have a nice covered patio or comfy booths inside the restaurant. There is limited parking on site but you can easily find street parking.The salsa verde is HOT! If you cant handle let them know and they mellow it for you. Ive tried many things on the menu and have never been dissapointed. However my faves are the tacos and the sopes.Great little place to have really delicious food!

Super popular locals place. My carne asada taco was fantastic but the cheese enchilada was bland and barely warm. My mother said the chili rellenos were okay but not her favorite. Theres seating inside but at the moment due to Covid there seems to be no dinning in.The only bad part about this location is the parking is not the greatest. Good vibe. The inside is warm, well lit and has a tv. There isnt a high noise level. The outside lighting is a little dark. The staff is friendly and patient. The horchata is the fountain drink kind, which is ok. I ordered a wet super burrito with green salsa but I received red salsa instead, it was good and its not spicy at all. I had already gotten home before I noticed and didnt want to drive back to address this issue. I have had leftovers from a burrito with green salsa and it was really good. -1 star for wrong salsa but overall great

Such a hidden gem here in the South Bay area. Parking is super limited but we live nearby so we just go walking over. My favorite has to be the tacos here. They are pretty big for a standard taco. The Lengua and Asada are the go tos. Plates are really well served and the location has gotten some major updates in recent years. My lady likes ordering the chile relleno, pretty bomb. I recommend ordering ahead as it can get pretty busy here. The staff is really cool as well. Just know what you want.

I came here after leaving LAX. It had decent reviews and was close to the freeway. Its small, but had a small lot for parking. Theres seating inside and in a covered patio with TVs. I got Ricardos Super Burrito (dry) with al pastor. Wet probably would have been really good too, something to try next time. The mix of ingredients was balanced and the house salsa was a nice addition. It came with a serrano chile too. Freshly fried chips and salsa were provided. So I love authentic mexican dishes, chile relleno is my favorite dish, I ordered this and for the price expected a little more, it was good just not authentic, the sauce was more of a tomato sauce rather then chile sauce and it was stuffed with cheese and then layered with cheese on top, that made it too cheesy.
