Went here for the first time. I ordered a michelada to start off. It was just a beer and tomato juice. And when I was gonna order my plate the waiter say they were out of rice.... that not good.

Great food and friendly service. I had the chicken mole; it was delicious. My wife had the 2 item combo. She enjoyed it. Fresh homemade chips and salsa. Homemade tortillas. What more could you want? Prices are reasonable. And they have a good selection on the menu. Check this place out. You wont regret it.

The food was delicious! The jalapeno poppers had a lot of flavor, and very little heat. The pork had fantastic flavor, and was complimented nicely by the fresh ingredients in the burrito.The staff was friendly and helpful, with plenty of suggestions. Do yourself a favor and get the churro!

Called in for pick-up on a Sunday morning. Wait time was ~20 min, not bad.Had the breakfast burrito and the torta with carnitas. Both were fine but not great.The breakfast burrito was 70% bean - it was difficult to taste anything else.The torta was fine but disliked that there was only 1 slice of a jalapeno and the cheese was a block slice (was expecting shredded cheese to cover the entire length).

Thought it would be good but nope. Fajitas were dry, they put rice in it and it was burnt at the bottom. Wet burrito was too salty. The time it took for them to bring menus and take the order was absurd. Perfect restaurant for the white folks, dont go here if you want good Mexican food.

This was our first time here. We usually go to the mexican restaurant nearby. I ordered menudo because it was available on a thursday. It was horrible. the broth was so watered down and had no flavor. This had to be the first time in my life i had to salt to my menudo. needless to say, i didn’t finish it. My son ordered the chilaquiles which he didn’t eat or take home. The sauce was just salsa not the traditional enchilada sauce. probably the most irritating thing is when i got the check, the prices don’t match the menus. How can a restaurant do this or operate this way. I didn’t bother complaining about the food because i don’t like sending my food back because i don’t want to upset the cooks. I am sure they have some good things on the menu but i won’t find out. we will never be back

Plus the service has always been great but tonight we were absolutely stunned by the excellence of the service. Our server was very welcoming and attentive, and the food we ordered was fantastic. I got the mole rojo and 2 birria tacos, my girlfriend got the shrimp fajitas and we were both very happy with our orders and amply stuffed. Ask for their hot sauces on the side as well, the green sauce has pork in it as is DELICIOUS.

This place is awesome. The customer service is top notch. Eric and his staff take care of every patron as if you are family. The prices are reasonable, and the food is simple and delicious. Favorite go-to dishes for me are the shrimp fajita plate and the Burrito Especial. Ive tried a lot of the menu items, and I havent been disappointed yet.

Started liking the food until I bit into my birria taco and bit into a bone. Thought nothing of it and then took another bite and an even bigger bone and then by then I was disgusted. I have never had a taco with bones, tacos should not have bones. My son had chicken chilaquiles and yes a chicken bone in his chilaquiles, wth. Im surprised no one has sued them for chipping a tooth. Its no surprise we wont be eating there ever.

In old Town placentia, a place I randomly found on a bike ride, El Cantarito is really a hidden gem. The folks there are extremely friendly and attentive. They had a great selection of the usual Mexican fare. What I found very appealing was that they didnt quite have on the menu what I was looking for, so I asked the friendly waitress if I could have something custom-made. Nothing elaborate mind you, just a custom taco. My point is that she was very accommodating, and I appreciated that.What I ended up having was extremely good, and I will be back for sure! Here are some details for the detail oriented diner: This is very simple place, with simple tables, and simple decorations. A small, very friendly, family feel to it. In my opinion there are too many TVs in the restaurant. But lately, if there is one TV, that is way too many for me! In spite of the TVs, like I said previously, I will absolutely be back again to this place to try other items on their menu. Also, I was pleasantly surprised with the price. It was a great value for the money.

After reading a few reviews about the pork, I tried the carnitas. Maybe the best Ive ever had. The hand made corn tortillas are legit! We all loved what we ordered and well be back.

A lot of places claim to have authentic Mexican food but our family being used to homemade Mexican food is hard to find a place that has that authentic, homemade touch and this place definitely has it!! We drive more than 40 miles just to eat here. They serve handmade tortillas, their rice is authentically delicious, their beans are so good as well. Even a simple tostada is amazingly delicious, thats how good their food is. Highly recommend it...

I’m never one to post a review or my opinion on places I visit but I feel like these guys don’t get enough credit. We are visiting out of town and the wife wanted Mexican food for dinner. We stopped in here and I was blown away by how good the food was. My wife loved her tacos and my steak and peppers were amazing. YUM! Good sized dive in old downtown Placentia. Had TVs with a basketball game on visible from every seat in the place.. I had a bit of trouble hearing my dining companion,, but I have tinnitus and hearing loss and he (85 yrs young) mumbled softly. Most people will not have a problem conversing.Now for the food..Delicious! They make their own chips, thicker than any Ive ever seen, tasty and light on the salt. We also requested a refill of chips with our food and there was no charge. The salsa is perfection! I had a chili relleno, rice and beans, my companion had a small nacho plate. Serving sizes in both instances was generous with us both taking home leftovers. Nachos used the same thick Tortilla chips already mentioned and my companion raved about the onions. They were sweet and freshly cut. The beans, meat and cheese were all over the top of the chips and there was a big mound of sour cream and guacamole.Mine came with three piping hot flour tortillas (I chose flour over the corn). Put in some of the relleno, beans and rice and it was wonderful! I wish I could clone this place in Chandler, AZ. As it is, Ill be back and will have to be content with that.

Good food served fast and served well.Today was my first visit and I timed it to be after the lunch rush. My waitress, Lupe, quickly brought me chip and salsa and ice tea and took my order for three shredded beef floutas on a lunch plate with double beans and no rice. I ordered a large guacamole which was made for me while I was waiting. Their tortillas are made in the store and their chips are made from their tortillas. Theyre very crunchy and go well with their salsa which has no chunks of tomato or onion but is very tasty and a bit spicy. The service was excellent I was eating in less than 10 minutes from my arrival. And my waitress packaged up my tea to go after refilling it twice during lunch. The price for all of it was $15.99 which was a bit more than Im used to paying at $9.99 for the same thing but the guacamole was exceptional and so was Lupe.I was told that taco Tuesday is a really great deal. I will have to come back to see!They are open every day from 7 AM to 9 PM. Those are long hours but Im sure that their customers appreciate it.

First off, their food is very good. My husband had menudo since it was a Sunday and I had sopas de res. It was a cold Sunday morningand our order blended very well with the weather. However, there was a baptism celebration and they had quite a number of people so the service was kind of slow. Aside from that, the waiter was very courteous and apologetic on a longer wait. Placentia has plenty of great Mexican restaurants and for some reason wed never stopped here. Were glad we did and weve returned several times since. First the staff is great here. Theyre friendly, happy, professional, and are on top of everything. You just feel welcome here. And the food is great. The tacos are perfect but their specialty recipes set them alert from the crowd. After establishing a taco baseline on our first visit Ive ordered a different plate every time. Try anything you think you might like, its all good!

The pupusas here are more empanadas than actual pupusas. They have various meat options more than just your regular chicken, beef and pork. The portion is okay for what we paid ($23 dollars for 2 pupusas and 2 cokes, 1 glass of water). Will we go again? Im not sure. I mean it could happen but then again we are not really making this restaurant a regular thing.

This is my favorite local Mexican restaurant! My family and I have been coming to this family-owned restaurant for years. They make the most delicious chile relleno and their fresh chips & salsa is so addicting. Lots of seafood options. Not only is their food amazing, but their service is always top-notch too! Shout out to Black Mamba, hes an excellent waiter. You can always find parking out front on the street.

Its hard to get my Dad to eat much anymore, but if I get him Caldo de Pescado from El Cantarito, its a guarantee. These folks have known my family for decades. Mom is gone now, but they remember what she liked to eat. And the food is always excellent. I love the outdoor seating they have now and would feel comfortable taking my Dad there if we go on an off hour so there arent too many people. He doesnt get out much anymore so its a huge treat for him.

I have been eating Mexican food for over 50 years in Southern California and this is by far the best, authentic, Mexican food I have ever had. Not a fancy place, not huge, but good food. This is a family owned and operated business, I know the owner and his sons by name. I have had events catered by them and you cant beat the quality of the food and the price. The chile relleno is my favorite, the beef enchiladas are killer, and the fajitas come to your table hot and ready for you build at your table. If you have to wait to be seated or wait a bit for your food to be served....it is well worth the wait.

The food is exceptional the pricing is excellent and the staff is the best. Every time I visit they treat me like family. By far my favorite Mexican restaurant and I travel a lot throughout the state of California. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great enchiladas. Their shrimp cocktail needs improvement. Their carne asada was kind of hard, but everything else was pretty good. The service was excellent: They are so friendly, and they really make you feel at home. I do wish, however, that they would serve their drinks out of actual cantaritos.
