Absolutely amazing our second time coming here. Me and my co-worker Christian is phenomenal. Definitely highly recommend eating here. Great service. Great atmosphere. Very friendly family family run place. If you come to town you have to go here. Delicious food 🤤🤤

What a hidden gem! Solid American-Mexican food served in a homey setting that slightly feels like a 70s diner. Really friendly service and the portions are generous! I loved the grilled sea bass plate and the taco salad, which was lightly dressed even without me having to ask! There were plenty of folks there but we were seated right away at 12:30pm on a Friday. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available!

Great authentic Mexican food. Fresh and crispy complimentary nachos as starters! Good portions and quality. Everything was cooked perfectly and the margarita was very good too. Fast and kind service. I’d definitely go back. Highly recommended!

We had a phenomenal lunch here today! The food was excellent and service was exceptional. The lovely waiter brought yummy chips and salsa to the table, and I ordered extra guac which was nicely seasoned. For mains we had a pastor burrito and enchiladas suizas - both came with rice and refried beans, and both were absolutely delicious! Portions were so generous we had to take half home for later! We will absolutely be back, what a great find.

Very good Mexican restaurant with generous portion sizes. Service was also very good, didn’t even have to ask to have another round of chips and salsa given to me. I’m hoping I continue having job sites nearby so I can come visit again for lunch.

From the complimentary chips and salsa to the delicious crab enchilada, El Cerrito never skipped a beat, the portions were generous and the food cooked to perfection. Service remained quick and friendly for the duration of our stay. Although, compared to the competition the prices seemed a little steep, ranging from $15-$20 per main dish, personally Id say it was still worth it though.

Service was, very good. For that alone, Id give 5 stars. Unfortunately, cannot say the same about their food. Salsa was just ketchup with some spices. Had the steak a la tampiqueña with a side a shrimp. The meat cut was paper thin, smothered in a creamy orange sauce and full of fat. There were 3 shrimps. The beans, seemed like they had just opened a can of beans and portioned some unto the plate. No flavor. Had the house sangria and even that, they couldnt get right. Wine was not fresh and started to taste a bit rancid. Place has a lot of potential but, they need to review ingredients and product preparation, as well as, recipes that more closely resemble Mexican cuisine.

Love this place! We moved up here from LA, the land of a thousand delicious hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants, and had a hard time finding a suitable replacement until we found El Cerrito. Delicious food, wonderful staff, free chips and salsa. What else do you want. Price is relatively high for the genre but hey, its Palo Alto. We are regulars and will happily keep it that way.

My hubbie and I enjoyed a terrific late breakfast/early lunch at El Cerrito recently. It was a wet, chilly day, but we needed fresh air, so we choose to sit outside and the staff very graciously served us. Friends had recommended the huevos rancheros, and we were NOT disappointed! Beautifully plated, big portions, and fantastic flavors with warm tortillas on the side. This place is the real deal! Dont miss stopping by.

I find that we are very liberal with our ratings and this isnt what I would consider a 5 star restaurant. Michelin would agree. 3 is reasonable, but dont mistake this as a bad review because its not. You would make a mistake not visiting if you love Mexican food. Just be warned that some items can be very spicy.

I dont want to give a low rating because I know times are tough, but the food here is terrrrrrrible!We ordered at steak burrito and a chicken quesadilla.The burrito was overly filled with undercooked pinto beans and hard rice. There was some little meat pieces if you look for them and a few strands of lettuce. The burrito was dry and crunchy, not good and would never recommend to even my enemy.The chicken quesadilla was cooked in a stenchy old oil and the whole togo box was drenched in the orange oil. Got all over the bag and table, nasty. Old oil is smelly, which this was.Id never visit this restaurant and would never recommend to anyone. Im not sure why they have so many good reviews... I would give 1-star if I could without feeling bad.

This restaurant is a little tricky to find but it will be worth your time! Very friendly staff and tons of options on the menu. I went with the burrito and my dining companion had the quesadillas and we were both very full. The chips and salsa were fantastic and were complimentary. We will have to come back (now that we know where the entrance is) for more chips, salsa, drinks and excellent service.

This is a great place for breakfast they have many American things in amongst their Mexican breakfast. I love the chorizo and eggs and the Southwest omelet. You can really tell when people who make their own chorizo and this is one of those few places. The service is good and the bathrooms are clean. I love to eat at this place when I go to my chiropractor next door

A local secret. Very homey and unaustentatious for Silicon Valley, but the food is always better than I think it is. Especially the specials which are a step up from a taco combo. No waiting. We had a wonderful meal here, and will definitely come back. One of us ordered a chili relleno, and a side order of a fish taco. Way too much food :-) definitely worth taking home. I ordered steak Ranchero plate, which had tender cubes of beef with a delightful sauce, rice, beans with cheese on them, and a little shredded lettuce. It came with warm tortillas. I couldn’t finish it either, but it’s going home. Like the Terminator said, “I’ll be back!”

As a SF native, I know what the best burrito is all about! Working in Menlo Park, I have suffered trying to find the perfect Mexican restaurant. Luckily its down the block. El Cerrito is a small, friendly restaurant where yes, even the staff know your name. The food is good and I cant stop asking for more salsa - both a plus! Its tucked away in Sharon Park Shopping Center so its not busy at lunch to the point where you would have to wait for a seat.
