I got a vegetarian burrito and let me tell you…This burrito was so good. They definitely filled that bad boy up and I was a huge fan of that. The guac was out of this world and I loved the flavor of the grill. We also got tons of sauces, and pickled onions and grilled onions. I had food for both lunch and dinner. I was a really big fan of this one and will be coming back very often. Super good! Was supposed to just take a bite in the car and ending up taking half of it haha

We had the Chicken Burrito and the Beef Burrito and they were absolutely delicious, my one takeaway though that the protein / meat ratio was too little compared to the rest of the ingredients, it was still very delicious and the service super great.

Can only rate the food because we got taken out. The gf and I are visiting Monterey for a week, working remote, and wanted something healthy as we had been eating out more than we usually do, being on a work-cation. This really hit the spot. Really nice chicken, rice, and beans, with a delicious salsa on the side. Out of towners be warned, their fresh salsa has some heat, and the grilled serranos can really pack a punch. I was so happy to have a delicious grilled meal with fluffy rice and flavorful beans. Thanks so much for the great meal.

Friendly and quick restaurant for chicken, beef, and sides. Recommend the chicken, rice, refried beans, and tortillas. Tasty chicken (not too juicy) and delicious salsa (not too spicy and full of flavor). Great price points. Perfect for take out to the beach or if heading home.

Authentic, delicious, and juicy Mexican chicken. We ordered a whole chicken meal with cactus strips, and horchata for everyone. The chips and salsa were on point as well. If you like heat theres grilled jalapeno and if you like a milder flavor theres grilled onion. I have no complaints.

We came here after reading a few good Google reviews, and the food/service/price were so good, we came back again the next day for dinner. The roasted chicken with rice and refried beans is easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The chicken tasted more like a family BBQ with that one person on the grill who doesn’t let anyone touch the grill than it did restaurant food. My 5 year old son has to be forced to eat daily, and he was serving himself. The people working there were super nice, the service was quick, and everything we ordered tasted fresh. We even came less than an hour before closing and the food STILL tasted fresh. We are only visiting the area for a few days or we would be back again, but for anyone in the area, or anyone who is visiting neighboring Monterey, this is definitely worth a try.

I have gotten pick up orders from here several times. This place is amazing! They hooked me on the chicken and then they started doing carne asada and that is our new favorite!Definitely get the meals, they are an amazing value (come with beans, rice, tortillas, pickled onions--my favorite, grilled peppers and whole onions, and salsa--I recommend the dark red). While I absolutely love the refried beans (they are awesome to dip chips in!), their charro beans are sooo good too.Every time we go, we also get the guacamole, which is awesome (we order no jalapeños in it). I have also tried their cactus salads and rice dessert and love both of those as well.When family is in town, we order the full steak and whole chicken meals, and always have left overs (feeds the four adults and lots of kids or probably 6-8 adults with the two meals--but you may want to order a few extra tortillas).One thing to remember, this place does get quite busy (because it is so good), so if you are ordering in prime dinner time, try to order at least 30 minutes before you want to pick it up. You could probably also call in earlier and tell them what time you want it ready, havent tried that.I cant believe anyone ever wrote a negative review, this place is a Seaside locals favorite!

Before I even walked in people were picking up large orders which was a good sign of things to come. As you walk into this place the aroma hits you dead in your face. The lady who took my order was very nice and patient and recommended the amount I needed to feed my hungry family. I took the food home and the aroma you smell is the flavor you get. It was amazing. The chicken was very moist, even the white meat. The rice was pretty good. The refried beans were kinda runny but still good. They do have other beans that I will have to try next time. My family is picky about chicken and loved it. If you are expecting El Pollo Loco then keep driving. This place is in a world of its own. I cant recommend them enough and I will definitely return.

Speaking only to what I have experienced here, which are the burritos.... AMAZING. The size of a small child (two or three meals for me!) with rice, beans, guac, grilled chicken, sour cream, homemade salsa. Salsa also comes on the side -- I received a dark red, super smokey chipotle salsa as well as a lighter-colored fresh salsa that may be too spicy for some. SO GOOD. The burrito came with a whole grilled jalapeno and grilled half onion which added so much to the experience -- wow! I love the grilled flavor of the chicken. Absolute perfection. I would eat this every day.

This is another one of my go to restaurants, I love chicken and El Pollo Rey does chicken right. The rice and beans are excellent as well. The staff are cheerful, courteous, and ready to serve up taste food. This restaurant is clean well lit and there is plenty of parking. Eat in or take out both are easy and quality food. They take cash, credit and Apple Pay. You won’t be disappointed. Large portions.

This is the best chicken on the Peninsula! The quality is unmatched and the price is right! Im so glad to have a go to chicken place 1/2 a chicken with the 2 sides is more than enough to fill a hungry man and there will probably be a piece left to take home along with a little bit of the sides. The absolute best value in the Monterey area. They grill their brined chicken over high heat for a juicy bird that has a great char on the outside. A whole chicken with two sides and tortillas is less than $20. I highly recommend the charro beans that have bits of sausage in it. There is a reason I eat here at least once a week.

The staff was very nice and the place was clean. I had the super asada buritto which is big enough for two people. The buritto was very good just a little to much sour cream fir my taste. The last had the 1/2 bbq chicken with rice and beans. The meal is big enough for 2 people easy the chicken was full of flavor and cooked just right. It really reminds me of the bbq chicken Ive had in Mexico. The beans had good flavor and the rice was okay for a restaurant, not under cooked and had okay flavor. Im definitely going back and I recommend trying it just once you will be hooked. Side note, the chicken is cooked in doors with charcoal. Even though there are big fans sucking out the smoke, you still smell a little like charcoal when you leave.

Awesome Mexican grilled chicken place. So glad its here in town. But if you order takeout, they use an iPad that asks you if you want to leave a tip. Its not customary for a place to ask for a tip on a takeout order. I say no tip on the iPad. Then the staff guy (I think the owner) asks me AGAIN: do you want to leave a tip? He stares at me and makes me feel uncomfortable. I dont like being pressured to leave a tip for a takeout order, which is not customary. Otherwise the food is five stars, the ambiance is OK, and the staff is cold and unfriendly, and makes me uncomfortable every time I go in there.
