This market is a jewel in Castro Valley. Super clean and organized. The taqueria inside IS AMAZING. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu. You can eat there or take it to go. Very busy during lunch time so be prepared for a line if you go at noon or call in your order ahead. Dont forget the carneceria in the back for your fresh meat needs.

LOADED BURRITOS.Great market style assembly line of tacos, burritos, and authentic Mexican food, and I ate it so quick I forgot to take pictures! With various different salsas and agua frescas, they took down me and 20 other patrons and had food in our hands, inside of 15 minutes. Super professional, and the burrito I ordered, a carnitas burrito with everything, was absolutely delicious. Now I know why cars are always lined up in the parking lot of this place towards the end of the day. Next time I will also have to check out the market itself. But definitely try the deli!

Since I dont live near, every opportunity to visit is a treat meaning I leave with my scooby snacks - aka chicharrones. The stoee is always immaculately clean, staff is always so friendly and customers non problematic. I have yet to try the eat in food offerings, but I have had prepared foods at a friends party and it was all good.

Excellent Mexican food! Best Mexican food in the East Bay. The food is just the way my aunts and grandmother made, mom too.I suggest you order by phone during peak periods. Not because they are slow(there so much you can fit behind the counter), they have lots of customers.Only negative is parking. Good luck finding a spot to park.

This is definitely a hidden gem in Castro Valley. I realize theres a Chipotle in Castro Valley & many go there for convenience. But when you want some authentic Mexican burrito or food, I would highly recommend this over Chipotle. Yes, its a super market, but they serve & make food for you inside too. The carne asade super burrito never disappoints & you have to try the surf & turf burrito, if your a fan of shrimp burritos.

Best mexican food I’ve tasted in Castro Valley. Food is authentic, tasty, and affordable. This is my go-to mexican food spot for lunch/dinner, and I also use their catering when I have parties.Everything I’ve eaten from here has been amazing: burritos, burrito bowls, tamales, quesadillas, flautas, rice, beans, salsas, agua frescas.I’ve always did take out, but there is a small space inside for you to sit and enjoy your meal.

I ordered one of the catering packages for a family baby shower ahead of time online. When I showed up, I had apparently incorrectly ordered it for Sunday instead of Saturday. The manager immediately assured me he could still accomodate me, and filled the (large) order very quickly while I waited. I cant say enough how helpful they were, and the food was excellent and remarked on by everyone at the baby shower.

The food is mediocre. The customer service provided by the cook Kevin who prepared my food is terrible. He is monotonous and unfriendly. I asked him for clarification about what he was asking regarding my entree and he just kept repeating his question. He didn’t say anything differently or try to explain. It never occurred to him that maybe I have had this particular entree prepared differently. You can tell he hates his job. It is a family owned business so Kevin is probably a family member. Well, this family member just lost you a few customers. Customer service is just as important as the taste of the food. People are evolving into jerks. I don’t know want is happening to plain human decency and compassion. I remember when customer service meant something, so sad.

My favorite Mexican food place not only in Castro Valley but in whole Bay Area. I’m very picky with my burrito. I like a specific ingredients and don’t like when some Mexican restaurants add “accidentally” what I didn’t ask for. I always can trust El Rancho for my order be correct. The employees are very friendly, kind and fast. I usually call to make an order to pick-up 15-20 min before I arrive and it always ready on time. I’m faithful costumer and highly recommend to visit the store.

I got some food catered for my daughters graduation party. The process from beginning to end was seamless. I did everything online with less then 2 weeks notice and they said no problem. I love this place, we order here to cater office events, and I get the family meals several times a year... but today I called in my order and the young girl, with long eyelashes ignored me and took many people ahead of me, to the point that if I could have stood in line to order, it would have been faster (she had 6 people that were in line ordering pay before me)! I had to lean on the counter because I threw out my back. I finally said I was next and she said I wasnt in line (tho the guy ahead of me was in the exact same spot near the counter!). She had no empathy for anyone older with health issues. Ive been coming here for 20 years!!! And have never been treated like this! This is a great little place! Theres an eatery and grocery combined in one. The grocery has everything youd ever need for your daily life. Fresh meats and produce, too! Everyone - the butcher, other customers, and take out people were all super friendly today, helping us figure out how to make Chile Verde & get the best ingredients. Sooooo nice. The take out food was really really good, and looked wonderful, like all being made and simmered right there. Secret options like chicharron in Chile Verde sauce (in addition to normal Chile Verde). The butcher even had secret pork shoulder, really fresh. Sissy usually really fresh vegetables - best place for cilantro.

Been frequenting this place for several or so years now and it’s still my favorite taqueria. I love the flavors and will keep going here. Parking can be challenging when busy and during peak hours you may wait a bit but it’s definitely worth it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The taqueria is incredible, my favorite burrito in the area. Delicious, fast, friendly. Their catering service is excellent and pretty cheap as well. Id never been here, but we took a leap of faith with some taco catering. The 20-person platter had NO problem feeding everyone (10 adults, 14 kids), with about 50% as leftovers! The steak and shrimp giant burritois my fav with a side order of 4 cheesy enchiladas with all the trimmings in a easy to go sealed tight plastic container thats real not like one of those styrofoam containers thats gonna leak out in your vehicle. Ive had many things on their extensive menu but my favorite is the chili verde...amazing.The grocery store and meat counter here are simply amazing. The have incredible salsa and the cuts of meat are stunning. Dynamically fast service with a smile is standard here. As impressive as their service is, it is only outshined by the impeccable quality of the wide array of products from incredibly fresh meats at their butcher counter to the beautifully presented fresh vegetables. I pretty much go here just for the taqueria. The food is great and reasonably priced, the service is super fast and everyone that works there is very nice. Their classic tacos and burritos are good with lots of choices as far as meat and toppings. But their green-go taco, which is a lettuce wrapped taco is where its at. They have a special salsa for it thats tropical flavored - try it next time youre there!

We had lunch at the El Rancho yesterday, first the line was very long, which to me is a very good sign. The food is very good, extremely fresh and very good quality for a Taqueria. I had a Veggie taco..so good. My other have had the goat tacos, he said the meat was extremely tender and the flavors were great. Also their Aqua fresca was very tasty not too sweet and not watered down very flavorful.

Pretty good burritos, got Carne asada and shrimp and steak. Couldnt figure out markings and ended up eating wrong ones. I like his better than mine, but I saw some carnitas burritos being made and think I might try that next time. Not cheap, but Im not sweating that during the scamdemic. When places can open, competition will come back.Moving nearby soon so I expect Ill get to try a lot of the menu. I seem to recall getting a quesadilla last time (pre covid) and it was good.

Ordered a breakfast burrito, the guy puts sour cream and guac on the burrito and it goes from $8 to $10 and youre now charged for a super burrito. Best burrito I have had since moving out to the Bay last year.They are not the best priced (about $8), however the flavor is outstanding. They are a good portion size, pretty filling. And truly delicious.I tried the Al pastor meat for the first time (Im from the east coast) and it was just too fatty for me. I have nothing to compare it to so Im not sure if that is how it is supposed to be. I just did not like it.So I tried the carnitas instead and was pleasantly surprised. The carnitas tastes great! This is the go to place for awesome Mexican food! I think there was only one time that weve ever been disappointed, but thats out of a couple dozen visits at this point. My go-tos are normally the super tacos, super burrito, nachos, or the steak and shrimp burrito. Ive tried almost meat with the exception of the one in green sauce, and they are all excellent! The one bad experience was a little too much salt on the pollo asado once, but I chalk that up to a fluke, because normally everything is amazing.

Great store and their prices are fantastic on produce. Just be sure to check your produce well as fruits can be pretty ripe already. The meat counter has great marinated options and you can find all sorts of Mexican products. Edit: the corn is now sealed in small bags to attempt to stop the weevils. And while the price went up considerably, Im glad to pay more for a better product.The corn here is infested with granary weevils. I bought whole corn and stored it for several months. The container was full of small black weevils, and you could see the holes where they came out of the corn. I threw it away, but the weevils had already spread to the rest of my pantry. Im still finding infected food and throwing it away.The food counter is great, but I would stay away from the bulk bins.
