Something wrong with that one star review. We have ordered from here at least a dozen times and the food is excellent and portions are generous. Maybe they were looking for American Mexican food (Taco Bell).
Hands down the best restaurant in Lake Elsinore. Ive been eating at El Unico for years, before the pandemic and glad they were able to reopen after the pandemic. Great family owned local business with amazing food.

Food was very good and service fast. Outside sitting just beware that there are lots of mosquitoes due to season. Other than that they offer you fans to use to make sure flies are not on the food

We love their freshly made Menudo every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The best in town! Wonderful, friendly service. Were new here in Lake Elsinore and we have tried looking for some good Menudo, and we finally found it here in El Unico.
The Tacos and Tortas are fresh and delicious. The outdoor seating area is a great place to relax.
Great food! Little hard to find the place and the parking is weird. Bathrooms are weird(park bathroom). Flies were everywhere. But the food was really good!! Next time I’ll order to go! 🙂

This place is honestly the best Mexican spot for miles! It literally is a little hole in the wall next to the public park. They are a little more on the pricey side for their tacos and burritos but its so worth it. They are not stingy with their portion sizes and they add all the good stuff. I ordered a green salsa carne asada wet burrito to go and it was just as big as a Chipotle burrito! Inside was good amount of meat, rice/or beans, Pico, and my favorite guacamole. They put the green salsa and sourcream on top. They even gave me a few tortilla chips on the side with it. Not sure if their burritos usually come with it. But it was the perfect touch. Sorry I dont have an actual picture of the burrito I was starving and forgot to take a photo. I will definitely be back for more and will have to take some photos to upload.
Carne asada burritos were wonderful. Nice portions, you bite into it and the meat is juicy. Meat had flavor. Over all delicious it hit the spot.
Ok so we are very happy with this place. The customer service was amazing and friendly. Good priced. Great and delicious food. They dont skimp on the meat and its good quality. Even the chili rellenos where delicious per my sister. The chocolate cake was amazing. Will definitely be back. Very nice relaxing patio area.
Best mexican food around!! You can not find better! Service is good but the patio seating is my favorite. However the patio furniture was quite dated. The first seat I grabbed was broken.
Julios Especial Chile Verde, Jamaica, chips and salsa. I shared half of my burrito with a friend and had half of his shredded beef burrito. Everything was excellent! Gloria and Jacqueline are great hosts. Beautiful dining patio too! I will definitely be back.

This burrito is a masterpiece. The tortilla is soft and chewy, and the carne asada meat is melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The guacamole is creamy, the salsa is tangy, and the cheese is gooey and melty. Its like a party in my mouth, and everyones invited. If I could eat this every day, I totally would.
Big servings good quality but pretty pricey and no taco Tuesday, which kinda sucks. No indoor seating but very cute and cozy garden like patio with misters.
Finally open again after a 2-year hiatus.We are so elated to see this great little gem open again. Fortunately, the food is as good as ever, although they dont have the full old menu yet. Mostly I missed the chili relleno, but that will be coming again soon.Apparently the same family own and run this place, so we had the same friendly and efficient service.

This place is the best place in Temecula Valley! The family is incredibly sweet and accommodating. This is my go to spot when i have guest visiting. Everyone I bring here has been more than happy with whatever theyve gotten.
I used to love this place, and would have given it a 5 star review. It would seem that rising costs have affected this establishment as well. The increase in price was expected due to the inflation of the economy, unfortunately the quality has dramatically dropped. I was saddened by this. The local food truck that serves many of the same items excels greatly over the product I purchased, and is less expensive. A food truck should not be better. The Carnita burrito lacked in flavor and tasted more liked boiled pork, there was hardly any add ons like cilantro, onions, the guacamole was almost completely absent, for $9.98 you would expect more, I would have fared better at Del Taco, the Horchata was served warm, and on a hot day a cold drink is greatly desired. Had to request Salsa Roja. Salsa Roja, or Verde used to be offered without asking, and could be declined if not desired. Overall the quality of food is below expectations, and the customer service, although pleasant, was below expected standards.
My party of 4 had carne asada tacos, tacos de buche, carnitas tacos and chicken enchiladas...all were delicious and the salsa and chips was sooo good. The chocolate cake, carrot cake and pistachio cake were absolutely yummy. This place does lack in choices of beverages. The outdoor seating is very inviting when the weather is right, it could use a few outdoor heating lamps for the people that choose to dine there, there is NO INDOOR DINING. We chose this place by reviews but werent aware all there was was outdoor dining, we had to eat fast because it was extremely cold and started sprinkling on us. All in all, we would go again when its warmer weather.
I ordered Tacos de cabeza and adobada to go. Not impressed at all. Tortillas falling apart and the meat was tasteless. Agua de Naranja y piña was ok.

We had the Chile Verde Burrito and the Shrimp Burrito... Both were great. Looked and tasted great. I would recommend this spot. Its better than fast food. The seating area is nice and comfortable too. Its a patio area connected to a park by the lake.
Since they reopened food been very bad,Carne asada burrito salty,no guacamole o salsa included, although they say it comes with,n when it has any its very lil,tortilla at times very hard,shredded beef burrito at times very dry n other wayy to wet,then the burrito becomes a wet burrito cant eat without falling apart,fries at times very salty n under cooked,,when talking to management about it,it seems to be same answer, sorry but our cooks are new here,,Dk if its under new management, but i used to go there 3 to 4 times a week before it closed down,n couldnt complain about one thing,I guess i keep giving them a chance to redeem themselves, But every time disappointing..Was best Mexican food around,,now probably worse Mexican food around or as bad as other..

Full menu, but they have them best fish tacos in the area! They will grill jalapeños with your order. Yum! Not fast food, although they are quick. Phone ahead, and food is ready on arrival, to pick up or eat on the patio. Their Patio is cool and shady even in summer. Friendly and fair priced.
Definately must order by phone. Waits is long, but it is guaranteed to hit the spot! If you didnt order by phone trust me its worth the wait. Meats are seasoned deliciously, portions are very reasonable for the price, and the view of the lake is amazing especially during sunset. Dont miss out on this hidden gem!
Chicken tortilla soup all year all summer I don’t care I don’t care. Okaaay throw in a carnitas taco tambien, okay and a slice of cake too.
Like othet reviews I agree the tortilla soup is out of this world. Burritos were also unbelievable. So far this might be the best Mexican food Ive had. The place is small and you eat at a table outside under cover but that wasnt bad at all.
The food isn’t bad but recently the service is usually trash and half the time they aren’t open even though their hours say they should be. Also I heard a worker say “I should’ve spit in their food too they only gave me a $4 tip” I used to support this place but now I’ll never be going there again. I hope other people have better luck because the food isn’t bad. I just can not go back knowing they spit in peoples food like it’s nothing.
Wonderful little place on Main St. Old Town Lake Elsinore. Situated in the corner of the park. It has outdoor garden style dining areas. Very relaxing. The food is great and the place inside and out is kept very clean. I had the Carne Asada burrito with the works - even guacamole ! I also ordered a plain unspiced hamburger patty for my little dog. We both had a great lunch 🐶😊. I have been coming here since 1990 I think. Great place 🤗😋
Best Mexican food I’ve ever had. The only problem was that I lost my appetite due to a “tweaker” roaming at the adjacent park who threw up blood right next to our outdoor table. I know the city is working on helping the homeless, but the tweakers were lurking everywhere. It is not fair to the good business owners of El Unico, nor the customers, who have to be subjected to witnessing vomiting blood in public.. I haven’t been back, but I’d love to because the food is so good.
El Unico and La Unica have been in Lake Elsinore since and before I moved to the area in 1977. The food is still delicious as always. My favorite is the Chili Colorado burrito, I get with no beans. Good customer service, friendly staff. A must for anyone visiting the area.

This is my third or fourth time at this place and I have ordered stuff from Ceviche to Tortas to tacos. Let me tell you that everything that Ive ordered so far has been exceptional and Im going to keep coming back. It hasta nice cozy atmosphere and the service is really good. I recommend this place to anyone who wants authentic Mexican food.
Was hoping they had their Chile Colorado but it was crossed out. I dod have a good tasting adobada burrito. Wish they would serve complimentary chips and salsa.
Food was actually pretty good. I ordered the gorditas but they ended up being sopes instead and if you are Mexican you know what the difference is. So that was disappointing. I had 1 carnitas sope and 1 chicken sope. Carnitas was a hit chicken was mixed up with large peppers and chunks of onion not a fan at all. Taquitos were good. Also the salsas are really good too. Other tables got chips and salsa except for us😔 it is outdoor seating so expect lots of bugs and flies while uou are trying to enjoy your food.
The best mexican in all of Lake Elsinore area. You have to try the lomo torta.
Cabeza tacos were really good but the taquitos I wish I didn’t order (it had a funky smell I didn’t like) the birria had good flavor but could use more meat. I would recommend everyone take their food to go. Patio looks really nice but unless you don’t mind LOTS of flies trying to land on your food and on you than do yourself a favor and eat at home.

Chilequilles verde with 2 scrambled eggs are my favorite. Eggs are priced individually as an add on, pricey, but its good. We have tried Carne asada nachos, carne asada quesadilla, & chile relleno and all were very good. My son gets a bean & cheese burrito and its good. Torta milanesa was a little plain but still good. Salsas are pretty good.Restrooms belong to the city park. They are your typical park restrooms that arent the best. No seat covers, sometimes no soap, and very dark inside.For us, this is the best spot in Lake Elsinore to eat Mexican food.

Visited today, all these great ratings- expected great food. It was bland. The only flavor came from the pickled jalapeños. My chicken torta was ok. Her chile rellano had decent flavor, no vegetarian option for the beans. I loved the patio, she hated it. The flies annoyed me the most. Ordered within, was told the cashier would bring our food out. No napkins, no utensils. Asked for them, was told he would bring them. He forgot. If you like flavorful authentic Mexican food with a bit of a kick - avoid this place. If you like bland Americanized Mexican food - youll love it. We didnt.

He loved the patio! We ordered fish, shrimp and carnitas tacos and french fries. The tacos were so tasty! I’ve never had the carnitas there. It was so fresh! After we ate I asked him if he’d like to come back. He replied “Yea! I want to try more!” I showed him the menu and he was excited to try several different tacos next time! We will be back!

2022-05-06 04:05:25Highly recommend. We got the Shrimp Ceviche Tostada, make your own tacos (asada and carnitas, half pound each), and pistachio cake. Very dog friendly. In fact, our dog got the protein dinner and they gave him a bowl of water. The outdoor seating was so nice and lovely! All the food were delicious! The service was great even if it technically wasn’t a sit in restaurant. On top of that, the food was super cheap for the quality and quantity we got. Definitely going back.P.S. wish they had more taco toppings.

The beans and chilaquiles were almost like my moms, the only thing missing were the freshly diced onions on the chilaquiles. The rice was okay. No refills on drinks, served canned soda. No indoor seating and it was cold and damp today. Sat outdoors in patio area which was very nice. In the summer Im sure its lovely but today, not so much. The restaurant shares bathrooms with the park that is right behind it. Theres no hot water and air blower to try and dry your hands. I thought that was a little strange but oh well. Im going to visit again and try something different from off of the menu. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Mexican food. The prices were reasonable too.6/1/2023Second time here. I was fortunate enough to meet two of the daughters of the founder of the restaurant. Its a family business. This location has been here since 1983 (40 years) and Gloria is running the show. She told me that La Unica, was the original spot and it started as a tortilla factory and has grown into what it is today. Another sister runs that spot. But I digressed. So I stopped in and ran into Martha, another sister but, she doesnt work here. Without knowing she was related, I asked what was good, she replied, Everything. I liked her immediately. They were super nice Gloria was awesome. I ordered Taquitos. One chicken one beef. The beans were good the rice was a little dry. The chicken tortilla soup was very flavorful. It was a lot of food. Im stuffed. The patio is lovelier than the last time I saw it. Photos dont do it justice. My initial review was pre-Covid. Do yourself a favor, if in this part of town, visit this Mexican Restaurant. I do believe Martha, I think everything is good. Thank you El Unico for a wonderful experience and an even better meal. Gracias!

So good, in fact, we bought more to take home.Only negative about the food was that the bowl of soup wasnt served in a bowl, but rather, in a tall deli-like plastic container which would be fine if the spoons had longer handles. Be prepared to get your fingers wet on your way to the chicken at the bottom of the container!Great service & wonderful people. Well be back!

2022-10-21 01:34:11Stopped by for lunch. Got a carne asada burrito 🌯. Carnitas taco and a side of rice. Everything was good waitress was friendly outdoor eating area was very clean and had a nice breeze for a warmer day. Definitely will be back

2022-09-04 18:03:27Wonderful food... Really. I am not kidding. Casual service (disposable dishes) ideal for takeout. No inside dining but the garden is lovely! Did I mention that the food was wonderful? Be sure to try the chicken tortilla soup!

2023-07-10 02:52:36We wanted to like this place but unfortunately the food is not good and its expensive for a very small portion. The staff was very nice though.Food is on small styrofoam plate. The flavoring is very bland and just salty. The salsa was served in a reused plastic container and was very watery. My meal reminded me of a frozen dinner :( One order didnt come out for almost 30min after others were almost done eating their meal. The restrooms are shared with the public park there homeless ppl frequent. The patio is a nice atmosphere with plants and shade but youre invaded by flies.This isnt a traditional restaurant, its more like food truck style.
