I love Veganito!!! Delicious vegan food and generous portions. My favorites are the Ruben sandwich with fries and the California burrito. Their hot sauce is uniquely flavorful and brings the heat.
Went for the first time today, and had the california burrito, and it is phenomenally delicious, the taste and the amount of that enormous dish is unthinkable guys, my wife had the adovada tacos also great, she loved them. Im definitely coming back for more, you guys made a fan out o me and family.
For the life of me I cannot understand why this joint isn’t in a restaurant location of its own with a line around the block! The food is ridiculous, as in RIDICULOUSLY tasty! Don’t take my word for it though, just do yourself a favor and try it. They need to get out of this hidden food court (by the big Walmart) and unleash their gourmet extravaganza on the rest of San Diego now. Ridiculous!
Heard about this place from my sister, they used to sell at the Sunset Market & the Escondido Farmers Market. I am not vegetarian or vegan, so this was my first time trying something like this. I was impressed by the flavors and the authenticity of the food, the only difference was there was no meat. Well done El Veganito!
Delicious vegan food in a food court atmosphere. The portions are generous and reasonably priced (not to mention absolutely delicious).
Best vegan burritos in San Diego!! They actually hook you up and they’re filling enough to split between two people. I’ve tried other places and they just don’t compare.
This place is amazing. I got the ‘carnitas’ tacos. Three come to an order and I ate them before I could take a photo. The ingredients are simple, clean, and fresh. The tortillas are legit (both corn and flour). My husband, who is a serious carnivore, and very skeptical of vegan food, loved the California burrito so much. The adobo style ‘meat’ was so delicious and the whole burrito was divine. We shared everything (which for me never happens cause he’s always eating meat). I’m obsessed with this place. Also, Dante, who worked the counter is a joy and we can’t wait to see him again and try some more food.
Hands down, one of the best strictly vegan Mexican restaurants I have tried. I ordered the adobada burrito and it was a monster - plenty of food for two people! Filled with spicy, marinated adobada meat, every bite was delicious, and the beans and rice were very tasty, too. I cant wait to return to try their other menu items. A must try for carnivores and non-carnivores alike.
The food was amazing and the portion was pretty big. The prices were high, but other than that I was totally pleased. I will definitely come back to try another item from their menu.
I love this place! My boyfriend and I get the carne asada fries (it has a different name on the menu) and it is SO good! Dare I say better than real carne asada. I cant wait to try the burritos.

We got two burritos (fish-less and California) also the fries. The burritos are HUGE and they’re super tasty! Loved everything we bought. Just wish they opened more days. Whenever I think of the burrito they’re closed lol not a big problem, everything was delicious. Do recommend.
BEST VEGAN CALIFORNIA BURRITO!!!! I’ve tried several in San Diego and El Veganito takes the win! The taste is ON POINT! My husband and I couldn’t believe it was all vegan! The guys were also very nice! Don’t think about it, go try this place!!! You won’t regret it!!!
Doesn’t get much better than this place for southern California style Mexican food, in a vegan format. My only warning is for people to call ahead or double check on their limited hours. When they are open though, you have to give it a shot.*In case management sees this, please be more proactive adjusting hours on Google when you are closed. Today was the 3rd or 4th time over the past couple years that I’ve driven 15-20 minutes only to find them closed (when Google Maps lists as open, and every other restaurant in the food court is open)

Panchos tacos were delicious! The vegetables were fresh chucks of yellow pepper, asparagus, onions, zucchini and mushroom. They did not scimp on the avocado. Fresh salsa is fire!!
Very tasty food and very generous portions. I had carnitas tacos and some sopes with a jamaica. Service was terrific and the wait was around 10 minutes🥑🌮🌯

This place!My daughter & I were traveling to San Diego for business purposes. Approx 8 hour round trip.We looked up vegan options. We’re so glad this was the one picked.Veganito is by far the best ever Vegan Mexican food we’ve had. Honestly! We ate on the go & wished we had ordered more of everything just to have back home. Now we are sad it’s so far away from where we live. Can’t stop thinking about how tasty everything was. And when we will be driving back for more.True story 🤗

Best phish tacos ever! Even better than the real fish tacos I’ve had at various shops. A huge chunk of avocado slices on each taco too. Definitely worth every penny. Super creamy sauce. Crunchy breaded phish. Super fresh and crunchy lettuce and veggies. Also the salsas are really delicious
We got a phish burrito and a large order of carnitas/adobada fries (when ordering they suggested that we could get multiple meats on the fries, highly recommend that for trying a variety). It was all an unbelievably satisfying plant-based take on classic So-Cal comfort food! The phish had a savory, crispy crunch on the outside (even while swaddled inside a juicy burrito) and a tasty seafood-softness within. And the large order of fries was huge, easily enough to satisfy 2 people. We took leftovers home and we just finished eating them as a cold snack after a hot day, it was still so good I had to sit down and write this review. I hope they expand to more locations in the future, its so good!
Omgawsh this was so delicious. The portions are huge also! I was traveling through the area on a road trip and was so happy to find this place.Even my teen who doesn’t eat vegan was so happy with this! It’s definitely decadent, indulgent, and a lot of food - and it doesn’t feel too heavy or processed.I like that they have grilled veggie options to counter balance the heavier things like the cheese and sauces. I felt like I had a healthy but indulgent meal. I wish it was closer to me!

They just opened in La Mesa food court and I am BLOWN AWAY by how delicious the food is!!! The menu is large and has something for everyone. My favorites are the “fish” tacos, adobado tacos, plant-based horchata, and the sopas. Super fulfilling, generous portions and even carnivores will love it. Highly recommended and I can’t wait to go back!!! This place definitely satisfies my Mexican food cravings and is the best vegan Mexican food in all of San Diego!!!
My wife and I have been fans of El Veganito since our first bite back when it was a pop up. Adobada is the best. Green salsa is extra hot - no joke. Everything is amazing and I say that as a non vegan. Adobada tacos are a great place to start!l
Came across this place while cutting through the food court and had to stop. So glad I did! The jackfruit machaca bowl was amazing! You would never know this is a meatless dish...great flavors and textures...and huge portion. Could barely eat half. Open Wednesday through Saturday. Plan ahead!
I’ve only ever gotten to eat here once. Traveled 9 hours to San Diego thinking of their food the entire time only to find out they’re not open for the second half of the weekend. I’m literally about to cry I just want their food so bad. I can’t even explain how upset I am I haven’t been able to have Mexican food without cooking for myself and 5 other people since before covid😞. Your food is too good for you to ever be closed.
El Veganito is by far the best, most traditional vegan Mexican food I have had! I got the horchata and the tacos de papas with rice and beans and everything was extremely delicious. The rice and beans looked a little boring and I thought I would have to doctor them up with hot sauce when I got home, but just one bite and I realized they were so full of flavor and werent lacking in any way. The cheese and crema on the tacos de papa tasted so real I almost questioned that they were vegan and definitely wish I could get my hands on some! Although they were just filled with potatoes, the tacos were super flavorful as well and the shells were the perfect consistency. It definitely reminded me of the socal/Mexican food Im used to growing up in San Diego. The horchata was very fresh and tasted homemade with a good blend of spices (definitely tasted like more than just cinnamon). I just wish they were closer to north county because I would be going every single day!

This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat. The burritos and reuben (even though it seems odd to have at a Mexican restaurant) are delicious! At first I was thinking this place was a little expensive but the burritos are MASSIVE and definitely justify the price. My only complaint is that they dont have longer hours.
This place is so good I can’t believe it is plant based today is my first day trying it and it was so good man !! Highly recommend I got the CALI burrito taste better then any Cali burrito I ever had !! Will be coming back

This is the best vegan Mexican food in San Diego the only complain I have is they never answer the phone when I want to make an order, also sometimes I go and is closed on days where it say it supposed to be open. Whats going on? The food its amazing!!!
I was so excited to try this place. Unfortunately, like other reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant is not always open during the posted hours. I arrived there on a Saturday at 4PM (posted hours show that they are open until 6:30PM) and found the place completely shutdown. I wasted 40-minutes driving to and from this place. These kind of poor operating choices lose existing and new customers. They just lost this one. Such a shame.
This is my favorite vegan food in America. I’ve traveled and literally there’s no place better. It used to just be at a farmers market once a week but now they have a spot and I’m so happy for them. I live in Texas now and still tell people about this food.

2023-10-29 00:49:49I have been to many restaurants in search of a good vegan California burrito. Today, I found it at El Veganito. It was huge, delicious and the red sauce really put it over the top. I can easily solo a medium pizza, but I couldnt get the last bite down despite how much I wanted to do so. I will definitely be stopping by again before I leave town. Dont sleep on em!

2023-09-24 00:25:40This is located in the Grossmont mall and there are plenty of tables in the food court but we always do takeout.We are not vegan but this Mexican food is fabulous, these guys really know how to make stuff packed with flavor and a variety of meat alternatives. We ordered three different things and all tasted different. Highly recommend and hope they someday have their own full time restaurant as they have limited hours. I know they are always there on Saturday afternoons but not open on Sunday.

I mean they are in a mall. They also seem to be very protective of their salsa, (had to ask) I mean who doesn’t eat Mexican food without hot sauce? if dining at the tables, which are right in front of the counter. Hot sauce/salsa squeeze bottle’s would be awesome.

We ordered the jackfruit carnitas tacos and I swear this tasted like slow cooked pork roast with all the traditional toppings. Id really love the recipe for these carnitas so I can make them at home. The menu is plentiful for our next visit when were back in the area again. Well be back.

2022-11-06 04:05:33Machaca was like a giant breakfast burrito with tofu scramble, jack fruit, peppers, and onions. It was cooked to order, and still hot right from the griddle. That charred-on-griddle flavor was nice, and the jackfruit has a chicken-like texture. Just add some hot sauce, and you have got yourself a meal or two.
