Originally came to eat at the previous establishment, and almost left but decided to stay and super happy that I did. Amazing food and drinks. Everything we ordered tasted flavorful and great. The service was also amazing, super attentive and friendly. Will definitely be returning whenever I am I. Simi. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some tasting Mexican food, drinks and great service.
This is exactly what Simi Valley needed. A local spot owned by local people putting out quality food that they care about. When I say they really care they do. My wife and I go here on average about once a week. On one occasion my wife got her favorite chicken mole, and it seemed cold to her. (I thought it was fine) the owner just happened to over hear us talking and went and made her a brand new one then explained the entire cooking process to us so we could figure out together why it would seem cold. ( i thought it was fine...lol) So far I have tried almost everything on the menu. I have settled on the shrimp chicken and steak fajitas. By far my favorite. The steak and chicken are ALWAYS soft and juicy and the shrimp could not be flavored any better. A close second is the taquitos. Always hot fresh and cooked perfectI love the crunch with the perfectly made guacamole. The owners Tim And Christina always greet us with a smile and have introduced us to their entire family that also work there. Great family run and owned business. We will be coming back every chance we get for the good food but equally as important the great staff that knows how to take care of customers. Keep up the good work dont change anything. There is not enough good things to say about Elviras. The service, outstanding. The food and atmosphere, amazing. I ordered the steak fajita burrito and it was so delicious. The homemade salsa was so good that I had them add it into my burrito instead of the Pico de Gallo. Wife ordered the enchiladas suizas and really enjoyed it as well.
I’ve been to many many MANY “authentic” Mexican restaurants and usually you’d find canned refried beans or canned chili sauce on your plate.Elvira’s Mexican Grill is truly authentic and has the best Mexican food I’ve ever tasted. Truly amazing food and I’m Hispanic myself! I’ll definitely be coming back to this place!!
Great food, great service, really enjoyed dinner. I highly recommend this if you are in the mood for great Mexican food. Being in southern California its easy to get inundated with spots to grab a good Mexican meal, but Elviras really stands head and shoulders above the surrounding places. Go there and try for yourself. Side note, the Carne Asada plate was AMAZING.
Excellent service. The staff was so nice and personable. Lets talk about the food!!! My fajitas were excellent. The steak and shrimp were seasoned not over cooked! A very healthy portion of everything. The beans were good, guac was fresh. I was told theres a location out near where I live. I have seen it before and Im excited to go try it!
They were very busy, but everyone got great food and got the correct orders. Not many places do chimi burritos, and theirs was fantastic! Also, their chips were so darn good.. Honestly, just order anything, you really cant go wrong, just be aware that it will probably be busy and you may have to be a little extra patient. Go with people you like being around, its worth it!
A very nice little restaurant with maybe seating for 30. Food is authentic and the margaritas are huge! And hand made from scratch. Definitely recommend.
Elviras was suggested by a friend who had eaten here for the first time recently and said we had to check it out as it was extremely good. Since we thought this was still the old hole in the wall that had been there for years, we werent too eager to go but were we ever wrong. This place was fantastic on every level. We had the chicken fajitas that were by far, some of the absolute best weve ever had along with one of their ginormous margaritas. We even tried their deep fried ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. We also had the pleasure of speaking with Christina, one of Elviras daughters, and she treated us with the warmth of an old friend. All the servers were equally as warm as Christina and were very attentive to everyones needs. Its no surprise that Elviras is doing as well as they are with the people they have working here. If youre looking for a great place with really good Mexican food....look no further. This is the place to go. Elviras has replaced all other local Mexican restaurants to become our favorite. We wish Elviras nothing but continued success and we look forward to our next time there.
Does this restaurant really deserve 5 stars on Yelp? Damn straight it does. I had the sizzling beef and chicken fajitas and it good meat seasoned and cooked correctly. Not the cheap chewy stuff. The margaritas are humongous. Service was friendly and the owner walked around and asked how we were.When Im back in town Im coming here for sure.
Stopped by on a Saturday morning, service was fast and friendly. However we were a little dissapointed regarding our food. We order a tamal that was stone hard and very dissapointed. The red enchilada sauce tested like the one from a can. Also my beans were cold, the top of the beans was hot but underneath it was cold. Horchata was very dissapinting as well. Overall service was good but food was terrible.
This was one of my favorite places to eat before moving away. Today after a long day of working in the blazing sun, I wanted to take my friends out to eat. I suggested another place but one of them insisted we eat here and that getting a table would be easy due to the expansion. Correct, getting a table was easy, getting our meals, not so much. We were seated immediately, drinks came and food orders were placed quickly. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Chips kept coming, but no food. Eventually we were asked if we could move so that more people could be seated (putting 2 tables together). First time Ive ever been asked this, but we accommodated the request. We were then told they would get our orders out shortly. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. More chips, but no food. When my plate arrived it was the usual quality (relleno and cheese enchilada) but the hard shell taco was cold with little meat. We were laughing at how long this took. Apparently, the expansion seats more customers but the kitchen cant keep up the pace. The environment is cramped and noisy. Once we were done, we waited, and waited, and waited and finally got someones attention so we could ask for the check. My request for a discount for the numerous inconveniences was met with hostility and I paid full price without question.I really liked this place before, but this was my last time unfortunately.
Amazing!!!!!! I moved to Simi about a year and a half ago and had yet to find a Mexican restaurant that I wanted to go back to, but I will definitely be coming back here and bringing my parents for sure. The food was so delicious and fresh! I can’t stand feeling gross and bloated after a fun night eating out but I felt great after eating here! I highly recommend:) our waiter was also very kind and attentive. I don’t remember his name but he was the main guy running around on Saturday night! Thanks for a great night! The good, the bad and the ugly $$$I went to Elvira’s for the first time the other day. It used to be a small little taco spot but has since changed into a full sit-down restaurant. Living in Simi Valley it is not hard to find delicious Mexican food at a very good price. This is not the case with Elvira’s. The food is good but I found it to be overpriced for the portion size.A house side salad, a bowl of tortilla soup, and a one al la carte taco…with no drinks…Lunch with tip $30.00!The Side Salad-The good…the salad dressing was delicious!The bad, the $7.99 salad was about 5 mouthfuls (ridiculously small)!The ugly…again let’s be real… $7.99 for a super small, side salad!!!Taco De Asada al carte-The Good…fresh tortilla and at least there was meat in the taco.The bad…the meat was a little tough but still flavorful. A regular taco with onions and salsa for $7.49The ugly…again $7.49 for an al la carte taco with literally no fixings.My girlfriend had the soup for $7.99. It looked good but I did not hear if she loved it.I likely wont be back to Elvira’s as there are just so many other Mexican restaurants in Simi that I go to that are less money and more value for the price.
Great place! Thank you to the other reviewer’s for leading me here. Walked in and the owner Christina immediately greeted me and selected a table. She and her staff are welcoming to everyone and keep things moving at a fast pace. The ambience is warm from the colors to the decor. The food was delicious!!! The Jamaica was not too sweet and not too much ice. The Chile relleno was tasty and not heavy. The enchilada had just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Same for the rice and beans… no grease here and spot on portions. The hard taco was really good too. The chips are light and crispy and the salsa was perfect. Will definitely be back to try more dishes. The restaurant is a little hard to find as it’s tucked behind a gas station and a 7-Eleven… but it’s definitely worth the extra effort to enjoy this hidden gem!!

During a heat wave crank your ac! My only complaint.Otherwise it is my new favorite Mexican place in Simi. Good chips and salsa. I got the relleno and taco combo, both on point(ranchera sauce was a little lacking but super fresh tasting). My daughter ordered the steak quesadilla off the kids menu and liked it. Good value. We have been coming here since the place opened and love the food, service and ambiance. Seeing the owners stop and talk with customers is a definite plus. Also love that they have taken the space next door and opened a bar and expanded the dining area!

The food is amazing but the service is second to none. Every person working here makes you feel like they are so happy to be in your presence. The food was delicious and authentic. The music kept the place going as well. They recently opened up the place next door and they made it into their cantina. The staff was friendly. Definitely recommend and will be coming back for a third and fourth and fifth time 😁
Ok so I order the chili verde burrito and I got a burrito with red sauce tasted horrible. The sauce was like plain tomatoe sauce yuck, I had them replace it with the right burrito. The burrito looked amazing but lacked major flavor, its not good at all n its Mexican ppl who are making this food. How sad. Wasted money on this, plus now I lost my appetite. The green chili tasted water dwn to the max and it had no kick no nothing. I dnt like leaving reviews like this but I dont want anyone else to experience this.

My Wife and I just tried Elviras yesterday for dinner. We ordered take out. We have been to just about every Mexican restaurant in S.V. This is our new go-to Mexican eatery ! I highly recommend the crispy chicken tacos. These tacos are the best I have had so far in S.V. Really tender and tasty marinated tacos. Staff was very nice and professional. A nice little place that is a gem.
Have enjoyed the place everytime I went. Good food, tried something new each time I went. Everyone is friendly and courteous. The only thing is they put too much ice in the margaritas. But I go back for more and try to remember to ask for less. The pomegranate is my favorite. A must try. A little hole in the wall and family owned.

This Mexican restaurant is superb. Their spinach enchiladas are mouth-watering delicious as well as the rest of their plates. I also had a carnitas burrito that was out of this world delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, loud and very authentic. The owner (Elviras daughter) is friendly as well as the rest of the staff. I highly recommend this restaurant if your looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant experience. Oh by the way, their margaritas are excellent too!!!

Popular Mexican restaurant in Simi. The good was the margarita and Tacos. Music volume too loud to be considered background making it difficult for conversation. They need to improve flavor and ingredients of the salsa, as well as the enchilada sauce. That said, this place was packed at 6pm Saturday night. We arrived at 5:30 and seated right away.
I cannot think of one negative thing to say about this place! The staff is super friendly and helpful and they are always making sure that everything is going well with the meal. You can tell that the staff actually cares about what they do and want to provide great service. The food was absolutely fantastic! I am excited to go back for more!

I dont think there are words that can describe Elviras. The owners and staff are amazing and treat you like family. The food is almost always amazing, and the flan is perfection. But like any other restaurants, there are off nights. What makes them stand apart from a lot of others is that they take criticism and use that to improve. We were there one night a few months after they opened, and the salsa was a bit underwhelming. My wife mentioned this to the owner, Christina, and she had the kitchen throw out the entire batch and start on a new one. They truly care about the quality of their food, their customers, and their reputation. I will continue to frequent the place and tell everyone I know and meet about it.

What an awesome restaurant. Weve been searching for a place where we could be regulars and I think this may be it! Its family owned and the owners are amazing - they put a lot of thought into the restaurant, ingredients, presentation and how they were going to serve. The food was amazing - easily the best Mexican food in Simi Valley to date. The service was phenomenal - everyone there was truly on point and very genuine. Its hard to be sold on a restaurant after one visit but this is the exception. Were sold and we will definitely be coming back a lot. Im looking forward to trying everything on the menu and getting to say hi to the owners again.

Visited here from out of town not realizing that it had just opened a few weeks ago. It upsets me that I don’t live closer as I would return here in a heartbeat. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and the food was fantastic. We had the enchiladas and steak tacos and everything was very flavorful and well made. The salsa looked to be house made and had an amazing flavor and just enough heat. I would highly recommend visiting this place if you live in the area or are passing through.
Came here with friends and family for the first time (for me, my wife and daughter) and gotta say its a nice little spot. The menu had some great choices of food as well as vegetarian food for my wife and daughter. The adults had a couple margaritas which were really good and a good size as well. The food overall was good, everyone seemed happy with what they ordered. Will be coming again soon.
I have never been disappointed by the experience I have at Elviras. So much so, I am having my first real gathering there. The owners are super helpful and are willing to work with me planning a special birthday celebration. Cant wait!Now for the food, must dos... Mole & Fajitas, both are ones we cant seem to get enough of. However, everything we have tried, we love. It is a lick your plate clean type of place!Now.. dont forget to save room for the desserts because, they are incredible. For this lover of Flan, I have yet to find a place that has anything better. I took my wife here for Mother’s Day. She wanted Mexican food and I wanted to stay away from chain restaurants. We found Elvira‘s, a family business that produces some of the greatest Mexican food you’ll find anywhere in the area! My chicken enchiladas were delicious, but Barbara’s mahi mahi fish tacos were incredible! There were very large fillets of mahi mahi, cooked to perfection served with delicious rice and beans. Our server, Flor, was very welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu options. The facility was clean and tastefully decorated. We do not live in the area, but there’s no doubt that we’ll be back!

Not sure what happened. This was our 3rd time here. The first 3 times the food and service was excellent. The ground beef for the tacos needed more flavor. The rice was bland and mushy. The beans were a little watery. The salsa was excellent as was the guacamole. The owner took a well deserved night off. I guess when the cats away the mice will play, so to speak. We will return to see if this was a flook.

As a visitor to the Simi Valley area from time to time, my friends and I stumbled upon this gem and will always visit when Im in the area now. What can I say? Its 100% amazing. I would and will continue to go here anytime Im in town. I live 3 hours north of this restaurant and with that said, I would easily drive 30 minutes out of my way to have this great food. If youre in question, I personally would suggest this location 10 out of 10 times. You will NOT be disappointed with food, services, and above all PRICES. You get what you pay for, you will love what you pay and will fully understand what I mean by this review once you try it yourself. Just had dinner at Elvira’s for the first time and it was AMAZING! Danny our waiter was so attentive and on his game. Both owners came over and introduced themselves and welcomed us. The food was absolutely delicious and the service outstanding. We have found our new go-to place. Service has gone down everywhere and seems to be expected but Elvira’s exceeded our expectations by far!

Went here today because of the reviews. Ordered taco and enchilada combo. Wasnt impressed. The taco was nothing but ground beef and packed with way to much lettuce and a scant of cheese, actually there was hardly any cheese. Its the worst crispy taco Ive had any where. The enchilada was ok, the sauce was good but everything was bland and at over $40 for me and my wife it was not worth it. And $4.75 for a glass of horchata ? Are you kidding me, with no refills. Very nice staff,but our food was bland. There salsa is very good, but overall I think they are way over priced

I went to the resturant for a lunch take out chicken burrito, cost me $18 + with tax just for a simple chicken burrito, nothing special. Cost is like a 5 star high end resturant not for a small shack in a strip mall next to a 7/11 take out.BIG NEWS for the Simi Valley residents there is a new Mexican Resturant coming on the corner of Erringer and Cochran in the Simi Plaza, I hear here they have 2 other resturants in the San Fernando Valley and there food, prices are excellent, will have a nice compitition and lest see how the $18 burrito cost will come down.
Gentrification at its finest!! $22 for a burrito and coke. Go to the valley feed a family of 4 for $10 more!! The spot before this place was better and honest with their pricing first and last time I go here lol

Food was great, solid amount for what you pay.The service was atrocious though; they seem understaffed. Nobody brought us menus for many minutes, we had to go up and ask. It took forever for someone to greet us and come take our order. Two drinks took literally 20 minutes to come out. Timothy was the only one who started consistently checking on us and other tables, he’s amazing!As for ambience, it’s mostly an older crowd, 40+.
My boyfriend and friend loved the food and the pomegranate margarita.... the decoration was super beautiful, we will definitely go again

2023-08-20 04:28:03Wow, what a sweet find! Great atmosphere, delicious authentic Mexican food, and very friendly welcoming staff. The service was excellent! We talked with the owners and what a breath of fresh air. They make a point to chat with all of their customers. Homey and friendly place. Did I mention incredible salsa and large glasses for margaritas and beer! Delicious food. I felt like I was eating in my grandmas kitchen. They are expanding and will have a cantina next door. Great place! Enjoy! We will definitely be coming back, Im sure with regularity. Thank you Tim and Christina for an enjoyable evening out!

Salsa was different., it actually had a good kick not hot but flavors were there.Upon ordering the nice bonita lady was very helpful, she checked for food availability and options. Que rica, verdad. Then once all food arrived.Now this alone was the challenge, the carne asada burrito was good but began to lag. I felt it fading then i began to realize i needed that special ingredient... SALT. Once it was inserted, it was like George Mcfly punched out Biff and i was back in the game playing Earth Angel in perfect chord.Yes salt was the magic ingredient, its been lacking lately in many latin joints in the states. Once that was added, dang i could go more rounds, if the tummy could hold such flavor.Really salt is the key ingredient if lard isnt being used, gosh what a good comeback.This was the 5 star over the top, that Baño was awesome on point. Yes, Ambiance en total was where all goodness comes together.The gwapas there were very nice, tan dulceTraiga a amigos y familiares a este hermoso restaurante. 2023-06-25 03:39:41We did takeout the first time trying Elvira’s. We dined in tonight for the first time. Everything I’ve tried has been amazing. Chips and salsa are great. Salsa does have a kick if you’re sensitive to spicy. Between our two visits so far, we’ve tried the Enchiladas, Tacos, Chile Relleno, California Chimi (specially asked with Carnitas but they don’t normally do it), Fajitas, and the appetizer nachos. We got margaritas for drinks and their house made flan for dessert.First and foremost,, the Chile relleno is the best I’ve had in a very long time. I was so happy with it that I’ve considered just ordering that à la carte.The margaritas don’t taste strong but they are so tread carefully. They’re also huge!I am not a fan of flan usually but my husband is. The flan is amazing! The best I’ve had. And now the only place I know I can get it and love it. It’s a pretty large portion actually. Good to share between two people. All of their portions are large and so far, we’ve had lunch for the next day. My new favorite place in Simi Valley! Shoutout to our waiter Oscar!(The price tag per person was so high because we got a couple of drinks each…)

Me and my sister came to visit Revelation Church and was in Simi Valley for 5 day and this was the place we ate all 5 days. We tried something different on the menu everyday and was never disappointed. Not only was the food delicious but the staff was amazing, the prices are affordable, and the service is fast! The must have are; the table side guacamole, the chicken or shrimp wraps, fajita salad, Camarones a la Diablo shrimp, and fajita el patron, the drinks are also really good; I loved the horchata and my sister enjoyed the BIG Margarita and the hibiscus. However everything is delicious!!! I will miss this place when we get back to Myrtle Beach SC. WE WILL BE BACK!!! Christina thank you for the awesome food, great service and wonderful conversations. 2022-08-26 07:42:02After all the hoopla in my Simi Valley Foodie’s group I had to try this place. I heard it is super good, super busy, and has excellent service. We went on a Saturday evening at around 8:00 PM and it was about 75% full so we got a booth table that was so ridiculously tight we barely fit in. I thought the decor and vibe were top-rated.The service was excellent. I could not have asked for better service. It was the food that I think is both mediocre for my taste and relatively expensive. All three of us rated our dishes at about a 7 out of 10. Sighting that the salsas and chile sauces were very mild and lacked heat. Very odd to have no heat at all on three dishes and a salsa bowl. My Chile Verde dish, which is my staple dish, was slightly above average but lacked deep chile flavor and heat. One of my guests ordered the Spinach Enchiladas and thought they had potential but did not really have a great and distinct chile flavor. The third dish was generous portion of a child’s bean and rice burrito combo dish, that came rice-less inside the burrito, but scored well on flavor.We all felt the beans were ok, but are only half mashed. We would have preferred refried to go with our dishes. The Spanish Rice was, in all our opinions, excellent as were the flour tortillas.The salsa was okay but again lacked chile flavor and heat. I actually took some home, added some of my New Mexico dried chili peppers, and it came to life. At least in our opinion.Lastly, the presentation of the dishes were gorgeous. Just like the decor. I am certain that over time the types of issues I have noted can be easily fixed. I do look forward to trying it again, soon.

This place is hands-down the best Mexican restaurant!There was somewhat of a wait (but we did go on a Saturday evening) however, the food was completely worth it! Not only was the food amazing but, the staff are very friendly and attentive, the prices were in-line with the quality and the atmosphere was festive. This will be my new go-to Mexican restaurant and would highly recommend to everyone.

I would love for Elvira to come to South Carolina. We are here for a few days But! I promise you I will be back for more. The customer service was very pleasant they made me feel at home.
