Went here for a quick lunch, we ordered the Baked California with Scallops and House Wife Special. So good! They charge a little extra for sauce and topping, nothing crazy. Service was awesome, our waitress was very sweet! We definitely will be back to try the other rolls!

Ordered Miso Soup, L Hot Sake, Rolls: Godzilla, Folsom, California, DF Spicy Tuna.Sushi and prices are amazing. Wished we got takeout though, this place needs a basic remodel, at the very least, a good cleaning. The bathroom was filthy. Fruit flies were swarming all over our dining area. Service was too slow. My miso soup was lukewarm almost cold, def not fresh. Could have at least microwaved it. Would I order from here again? I probably would give them another shot since the sushi was really good. But dine in, a big NO.Update 7-2-23Ordered Alex Special, I Love Salmon,Monster Spider Rolls and a Calamari to go order. Monster spider was delicious, the other 2 wouldnt order again. Deep fried salmon on top of a CA Roll, not that great. Would rather prefer raw. Calamari was the worst Ive had EVER. Tasted like it was deep fried several times. Un-bitable, unchewable, disgusting! Never again!

Good quality, tasty, and beautiful sushi. Service is good and the prices are average. Their menu has many sushi rolls, and other items like bento boxes. I definitely would like to go back for more. The spicy scallop hand roll was delicious. Ill take photos next time.

I ordered a sushi boat from Express Sushi & Teriyaki for my birthday, the boat comes with 100+ sushi and all of them were gone the same day because they are just that good!! It was probably the most delicious and creative way to make my birthday table pop. Everyone was asking where did I get such a stunning boat from. 10/10!! Alex took my order for me and he went out of his way to make sure my boat is ready on time. I could tell that they care about their customers. I am planning on coming to Express Sushi & Teriyaki to dine in with my family because they all love their sushi boat.

When this place opened it was 100% delicious food. I ate there all the time. They have declined to where I keep giving it a shot hoping it was just a bad day when I went. The Pork noodles smell bad, like pork cooked in old oil. The Teriyaki chicken was so dry and old tasting. The sushi rolls, gross, the rice in the meals and the rolls was not good. Nothing ever tastes fresh anymore. People there are nice. I am so upset that I keep trying, I am done now.

Food was ok. The roll I ordered listed no spicy ingredients yet it was so spicy it burned my mouth. Not sure if they delivered the wrong roll or dont actually list all ingredients in their rolls. Upsetting a bit. The waitress was a little hmm inappropriate 🤔 and made weird comments before revealing she just graduated high school so perhaps the immaturity of a first job? Overall ok but sort of uncomfortable. Probably wont go back.

This is my new go to sushi in town! The prices are reasonable, the portions are great and the flavors are spot on for both the sushi and the udon. The servers are also amazing, especially Angela, who remembered I need gluten free soy sauce weeks after my first visit.I am super impressed with this restaurant. Its also super clean and a really great atmosphere.

Ambiance and service were amazing. That being said, its mid to low quality sushi but priced very high. It was $75 before tip just for my son and I. We got 4 rolls (2 of them were just CA rolls.) Also got an order of nigiri. Seems pricey to me. Definitely amazing service and foh staff which is why I ranked it as I did.

Its a little pricey, 2 soda drinks and 2 rolls was $29, the food is great though, when the owner Alex is working he is friendly and has great service. It can get pretty busy in here, I love that you can call and place an order for pick up. The last time my family and I went Ee were pretty disappointed about the high chairs, they were very loose and appear that they are about to come apart at anytime. The employees did not seem to care when we let them know. Overall this place has great food but is a little pricey, there is specials only once a week.

I really like this place as ive went there for years, celebrated multiple birthdays there and just hung out there. I like that you can edit your meal if you cant eat something. You gotta wait a bit for your food of course, this is a restaurant afterall, dont be a jerk just cuz u waited like 5 mins, the sushi dont magically appear after you order. The food is pretty decent, but what I didn’t appreciate was the service as soon as I came in, I was charged for my order that I placed and saw my order on the counter just sitting but the person that ran my payment didn’t acknowledge or say anything afterwards that’s not proper, welcoming behavior. I had to ask one of the servers when my food was going to be ready she picked it up from the counter and handed it to me. How hard could it have been to check the status on my order.. in these times it’s very competitive customer service plays a huge role.

The wait for a table was long because all the tables were dirty because there was only one person who cleaned them. Atmosphere was satisfactory because the floor has major water damage and paint is chipping in some places but overall the sushi rolls are amazing I definitely recommend for a low price amazing sushi restaurant.

Unfortunately, i need to change my review from 5 stars. Lately, when we have ordered, the Oyster shooters have been overly spicy. Which is usually done to hide fishy taste and just has nothing other than a burning mouth. And our rolls, which were more specialized, were greatly lacking for the cost. My godzilla roll that is topped with unagi had barely anything on top. 2 tiny slices of Unagi for 8 pieces, and the numerous sauces were laughable. It was dry. They barely even hit the roll. Very disappointed as when a specific front of the house employee was there it was always done great and with care, now its an all new staff and they dont seem to care to put out great correct product. Wont be back sadly as this was our favorite for years for sushi due to the quality product.We Love this spot. Their food is great and their staff/customer service is excellent. We couldnt recommend them more.

This was one of my favorite sushi places in Sacramento. However, Im disappointed with my Lion King (Baked) Roll. It is under cooked and still raw. Ive had the Lion King roll here before and it has always been cooked well and tastes delicious. It looks like it was torched and isnt even warm as it normally would be even if I take it home. Very disappointed!UPDATE: After contacting the manager about our poorly made sushi roll, he advised to come back in 1-hour to pickup a replacement. Since our poor service, we have not gone back here for a refund/replacement or give them our business.

The food is good except they have terrible addamami. Its over cooked, not once but twice. And we were not given time to eat our Miso soup before our meals were delivered and the addamami was delivered after our dinner. So we sent it back and the manager charged us for half the cost. My sister was not happy and she probably wont recommend or return to this establishment. I like the food but wont ever by the addamami. And the wait staff needs to learn to pace the order so we can eat hot meals correctly.

I frequent this restaurant at least once a week. It is always good and service is great. Last visit not so much. Ordered the usual chicken with all salad. The sauces they use? The fresh cuts? Everything is good from here. We have been eating here since they opened. Service is good and the place has always been clean. The food is great and priced well also. Love that you can see where your food is being made and how open it is. We have never had bad food. During the pandemic, they were wonderful and wrote a beautiful birthday note on my daughter’s take out box which was a nice gesture and my daughter really appreciated it. We have dinned in and done take out.

It used to be a nice sushi place before. But my last visit there vent not so good. It took way too long for our order to get done and they completely forgot to make one of four rolls we ordered but not forgot to charge us for it. Taste of rest of food I ordered havent been worth the money. So, it might be just my bad luck for this visit and guys doing good overall, but I in doubt Ill give them another shot.

At 2:30pm it was pretty empty and clean. The staff were as nice as they usually are. Ordering the special (Chx Teriyaki w/gyoza) was easy. It came quickly as expected. It was just okay. The reasons it got four stars instead of three are the excellent service, and quality of fish.Otherwise, its definitely not a Japanese style sushi place. Lots of mayo, lots of things that dont really go in proper sushi, techno music (which is fine, unless Im trying to relax and eat). I’m writing my review so that others will be aware of how their customer service is. I’m glad that some people have had really good experiences with this food but unfortunately in my case it’s not I ordered a time chicken Bento box and got grilled chicken. When I called to let them know that happened they were telling me that the spicy sauce is supposed to be on there maybe you just don’t see it. The lady on the phone didn’t even acknowledge the fact that I told her I tasted it and it is not even spicy. I personally will not be returning to this location.

If you’re watching your carbs, this is the place to go. Aside from sashimi, the fish rolls (riceless) are soooo tasty! The kids meal is a very large amount of white rice with an orange slice and about 6oz of one of three different types of meat. Teriyaki, sesame, or... I forget the third. Its $6.99 and easily the only disappointing thing on the menu. Everything else is worth. The service was good. The man who seated us had to clean our table twice because it wasnt ready for us. But I cant be mad about it they were very busy. Rightfully so on a Saturday night. Delicious food. Will go again.

Because of this, I decided not leave a tip. I dont remember if I put a zero on their receipt under tip or left it blank. I will preface this by saying that the food is good and reasonably priced. You most likely will enjoy the flavors and quality of what you are getting. The menu is a little crazy and too big. A lot of the sushi rolls are gimmicky and dont bring any cohesiveness to the menu. The decor is nothing special. Feels rather bland and cheesy. The service from both the kitchen and servers was not good. I only had a party of 4, but the food was brought out with bad pacing. We ordered 4 entrees, 2 sides, and 2 appetizers. The food came at as: 1 appetizer, 2 sides, 2 entrees, 2 entrees (10-15 minutes later), and then the last appetizer (another 10-15 minutes later). When the last appetizer came out, we had completely forgotten that we ordered it. The servers also barely came to check on us, and the restaurant was not busy. They also never took any of the empty platters/dishes away from the table. Even when they had brought us the check, they still didnt do this. The table progressively became more cluttered over the course of the meal and there was very little wiggle room.The kitchen also messed up my order. The mistake was corrected, but it doesnt reflect well on their attentiveness. Overall the servers are nice, but it doesnt seem like they, nor the kitchen staff, are attentive at all. Food is still tasty though.

I am very disappointed with the customer service at this restaurant. I ordered two rolls to-go and upon arriving home I noticed that one roll was not what I ordered. Mistakes happen...so I called them and asked them to re-make the roll that I ordered, and would bring back the incorrect order. Open for take out during Covid. Great portion sizes! Two rolls will fill you up! Our favorites are the rainbow roll, lobster roll and the Lion King roll. The pepperfin is great as well. Large soup proportions as well. Around dinner time they get backed up and we had wait times of 30 minutes to over an hour so if youre taking take out call ahead and order early. I doubt that family of six who had a small child ordered nothing with chicken in it. Fascinating how you noticed this lack of chicken 40 minutes after taking our order And how this chicken shortage lifted a few minutes after YOU of all people noticed it. You messed up, fine. But the lie really isnt helping your case.Fifth, the family (who again came in after us but you still seated first), was leaving as our food was FINALLY being put on our table, an hour after we were seated. All we ordered was a chicken teriyaki combo and nigiri, and that took you an hour while six people could be fed and billed before that???I asked for the bill and box after getting our food, and joked with my mother that at least we could start the 20 minute timer for that to get done.Remarkably, it only took 12.The food is good, so we will still be customers. However, we will be ordering out, as I dont feel like being ignored again.

But as someone who has been consistently coming here on weekends buying sushi boats and paying cash at full price, I thought tonight’s experience was absolute trash. We do family hangouts on Saturday’s and so we ordered a Sushi Boat D along with 2 other entree plates on top. We were told to come in 45 minutes to pickup. We get there and we’re told they’re “finishing up” on our order, I look around and all tables were served. 2 small groups came in and were seated. We waited an additional 15 minutes, which was fine. Another 10 minutes go by and we see a group of friends to either the owner Alex, or his other chef’s, come in by this time. Thy sat at the sushi counter and were served right away. This is when it became absolutely unacceptable business practices. It was already bad before but now, as full paying customers who were waiting for over an hour, while their friends were getting served right away, it was over the top. It took me talking to 3 people for them to bring the owner up to talk to me. He started with giving me his explanation of what was going on. I gave him a quick breakdown of why something like this shouldn’t have happened. This is not somewhere I would recommend if you’re not part of their community or crew. You’ll be thrown on the back burner while their friends and family get priority over everyone else. Disposable business practices here. The employees told me that Alex would work something out for me “next time”. Homie don’t give me that, there’s no next time after I saw how they choose to treat customers that they’re not close and personal with. Why give business to someone who can’t treat paying customers with respect? Regular customers at that.

I personally do not eat seafood, sorry I can’t comment on the sushi, however, the chicken and beef teriyaki is 👌🏼 perfect! We were in the area and checked this place out based on its high reviews. All I can say is we werent very impressed. It took forever for our server to take our order and it wasnt busy at all. The spicy tuna seemed like it was pre-made and refrigerated but thats just the impression I got from the texture of the rice. The barbecued albacore was cooked all the way through so it was drier than I would have liked and as such, not as tender as I think it would have otherwise been. There was flies everywhere and my cousin hated the waitress because she didnt seem sincere. I didnt care but ..... .... .... Overall the food was good. Just make sure you cover it up so the flies dont get to it first

L called and asked if they were running any specials. I was told today was 30% off all rolls $9 and higher. I ordered six rolls totalling $67.00. She said the total would be $58.29. After I hung up I thought that didnt sound correct. So I did the math and since all my rolls were $9 and over then I should get 30%off my entire order which would be $46.90 +tax and theres no way the tax would be over $10. When we went to pick it up and showed her the math her response was I pushed the button on the register and thats the total that came up. The total was 20% off not the 30% it should have been. But instead of fixing it her response was that there was no manager on site.. so oh well.I normally like Express sushi. But I dont like being over charged when I know there are easy ways for it to be fixed. They could have offered an appetizer or something to make up the difference. Or put the order in the register again with the correct discount and then deleted the incorrect one when the manager or supervisor was on site.Beware you are not being over charged if you are going to eat here

We went today for Mothers Day. We got there early not too many people. We received our bento boxes but never received out sushi. Waited 30 min till we finally requested our check. Waiter said, Were understafged. When I told him we watched numerous customers around us receive their orders, who ordered after us, he just repeated they were all nderstaffed. Very sad and on Mother Day too☹️☹️☹️ We have really enjoyed their food but will not go back after this.

Weve been coming to this place or ordering throughr doordash one to teo times a month for several years. Today doordash delivered and I got the smallest crappiest hand rolls Ive ever seen! Who the heck is doing quality control over there? I feel like we just got cheated by this place. Makes me not want to ever order from them afain.

Sushi is good, tiny bit of tobiko on on of my rolls, but shows a lot on the photo, server said I saw plenty as he walked away, thought he was pretty rude from the moment I waked in huffing all the time whenever he had to do something. The fish is very fresh and tasty though, and I like how they keep a bottle of unagi sauce on the table

We just put down our chopsticks and had to write a review.Always love supporting a local business with takeout during shut down. This is now our go-to place in the Citrus Heights/Fair Oaks region. Convenient location in the Home Depot parking lot on Madison near Manzanita.Clean place, great menu selection, and the food is fresh, high quality meat and produce with a lot of flavor. We tried the Korean Kalbi Bento Box and the Thai Chicken Bento box. Good spice in the Thai Chicken. Generous portions.We may go back tomorrow to try the sushi!We’re back...now hooked on the sushi. The Gor Special is a must try!! And the sushi rolls are huge!!

This is the 2nd time that Ive tried this restaurant! Food is ONO (DELICIOUS) thats why Im BACK! Had to make sure it wasnt only a one time ono. Alex the owner assisted us the first time (I didnt know he was the owner - found out this time . He really has the ALOHA SPIRIT which is a plus for good business practice. The associates that helped us this time was also courteous and friendly. The assistant also helped my sister and I when she fell outside in the parking lot. Now thats what you call service!!! Its a 5 ALL AROUND!!!

The staff and management are friendly and the food is the freshest, one of the cleanest establishment Ive ever been to, oh and did I mention I never thought. I could eat raw fish!! This is the place above all Im now a sushi lover!! Go figure, easy access andplenty of parking and reservations arent necessary but they are always hecka busy, 5 stars for the establishment, 6 stars for the personnel!!

I had been craving sushi, but was very disappointed with their rolls. The tempura veggies were not crisy. They were very soggy and barely breaded. My rolls fell apart. They were put together poorly. I will never try them again. Can spend same amount for better sushi somewhere else.

Ordered two rolls, albacore sashimi, and an oyster shooter. Everything was absolutely phenomenal!!! Was extremely fresh and explosive flavors. Waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu as well.

I love eating here, Ive been here for a quick bite at lunch as well as dinner date out. The service is friendly and efficient, and they are happy to serve you quickly or let you take your time if you prefer that. I usually start out with Nigori Sake and an order of gyoza, and then get a few sushi rolls. Sometimes I get a Bento box, or other hot entree. All the fish Ive had is nice and fresh tasting, and they have good sushi roll options. Food & service are great, Ive been eating hyste for a few years & always happy.
