Shrimp scampi was way too acidic the chef in the night time argued that is how it’s made, but I’ve had many scampis at seafood restaurants and they don’t taste as terribly acidic as it was that night. He made us a different dish to compensate but with a defensive chef it ruined the night for my parents. I’m pretty sure the white wine had gotten too vinegary, oh well.
Amazing place! The food was so fresh and and service was very friendly. Its great to see another great local business in the downtown YC area. We had the fish tacos and pozole, and would definitely order again!
This place is a must try in Yuba city. I dont usually leave reviews, but this place deserves it. Aside from the restaurant being very clean, the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding, everyone of my group agrees. I will definitely be returning!
Visited here today for the first time with my dad because we were in search of dining somewhere weve never been before. This place definitely did not disappoint! We both ordered the Portuguese pasta which was incredible!! So delicious and full of flavor!! Fresh squeezed lemonade was amazing as well. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!

Honestly I felt like I was getting to be a capable cook myself, and then I walk into this spot and Im reminded of the actual heights of mastering the culinary arts. Most people can make food, this place makes food art.Update: I went a second day because I really just cant believe this isnt a Michelin Star restaurant and wanted to try the Mexican food off the menu since the previous day I got calamari steak. The calamari steak I had was actually perfect, each bite was frustrating because I know I really cant cook this as well without years of practice. Today I got the wet burrito shown below was $8. Honestly go here before this guy leaves for LA and makes it big.
Absolutely fantastic! The wet burrito was incredible... they need to bottle that sauce and sell it. The perfect amount of heat with just a hint of sweet. We followed with dessert of both tiramisu and a lemon dessert- both truly delicious! Our server was attentive, and the prices were quite reasonable. Definitely will be going again!
Best pozole in town! Always tasty! Zacs special is a fav as well. Fresh ingredients... Never had a bad meal here.

This place is amazing! Everything weve eaten here has been fantastic. This is the third weekend in a row weve drove out to Yuba City from West Sacramento to eat here. I wish I could have two husbands and marry the chef! 🤣
I had a wet burrito with carnitas for the meat. It was super delicious. Service could not be better, attentive with lots of smile. The acoustics of the dining room is my only complaint. There is a lot of echo in the room if there are a lot of people talking. Very good prices for such a good meal.
The food is amazing. The salmon is the best weve ever had. The fish tacos, carnitas, and the GIANT shrimp cocktail are all taste tested by me! Its small, I wish they could expand the dining area. Oh, and they make yummy homemade lemonade . They have a regular menu and then they have a whiteboard with amazing specials of the day. Open for lunch and dinner. On center street right off of Plumas street.
What else can I say about Fernando’s but cozy. The food is always incredible (Wet Carnitas Burrito & Fish Tacos) and the margaritas are tasty. You’re sure to run into someone you know! 🤣
Nice people, good food.New waitress doesnt speak English. Shes pretty bad at her job. She completely forgot the table next to us ordered chips which they never received, my son asked for garlic fries and got regular. She seemed to have many loose ends with tables, boxes needed, tickets and she was not aware of what was on the Special menu. We asked for dessert and she forgot and we reminded her. We are long time customers who love the food but service with this particular waitress is seriously lacking.
I stopped by to have lunch. During the time I was there an older customer was drinking wine from a glass. She called the waitress over to complain that the glass had a cracked. Waitress took the glass and just poured the old wine into a new glass. No consideration for the customer. Customer just continued drinking like nothing happened. Cheap.I noticed waitresses touched their face without proper cleaning afterwards.yuk.

Our out of town group visited for lunch, and we are glad we did. They were busy, but were extremely welcoming. Every person had a great meal, and prices were very reasonable for big portions of fresh made food. The wet burrito was the size of your head, and I had some of the best fish tacos I have ever had. Highly recommend!
THE BEST FISH TACOS EVER. I usually dont like Fish Tacos(only my own). These are so full of flavor. Your first bite you get the shell, fish, then the pineapple salsa and sauce just explode with flavor. Its that good. Carnitas are good & flavorful. Salmon & Salad are hubbys go to & the sauce on the Salmon is incredible. Its not fishy just real tasty. Black & Blue Chicken & Portuguese Pasta are also delicious. Theyre even good the next day. Tempura Prawns (his own coating)are a great appetizer too. I eat here as often as I can and I am never disappointed. Ive introduced many friends & family here and they amazed with the flavors of the food. Fernando has a way of mixing flavors that are unbelievable. Fernando & Rubi are fantastic at what they do. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE. Its a true gem.
Been here a couple of times for different occasions. Best fresh mexican seafood in town! They have so many different delicious choices. Tried the oxtail soup, passole, their pasta dishes, and a variety of their seafood dishes. Have not been disappointed with anything I had. The chef/owner really knows what he is doing. So greatful to have high end cuisine in our small town.
Have to admit the wet burrito was plain. The two only ingredients were rice and chicken. If it wasn’t for the sauce the burrito is pretty basic. However don’t let that stop you from trying it out. The wet sauce that the burrito is Smothered in is perfection. Where the burrito lacks, the sauce makes up for. I been here twice. The first time, I did get beans in my burrito; However, the second I only got rice and meat. Overall it’s a nice place to eat. Don’t let this review stop you from trying it out at least once. Would I go back? Well of course, but next time I’ll try something else from the menu. Lastly the staff is very nice and the service is not that bad either. I would recommend that you order your food ahead of time.
I will not go there again we where so interrupted by a privilege person that we just got up and left. Now ther Server Bless her Heart she was willing to do anything to accommodate us. But when WHITE PEOPLE start with the name calling its time to go. So the Party I was with I paid for our meal and we politely went on about our Evening. We are a Blended Family and was treated so horrible by your Patrons But this is your City.

I have NEVER been disappointed at Fernando’s. Fernando is not just an excellent cook, he is a gourmet chef. I’ve been a extremely satisfied customer since they opened. I have tried a variety of things on the menu. The salmon and calamari steak is my favorite, but I’ve tried lots of choices on their menu and everything is excellent ❣️
This is the first time coming here. I ordered the fish tacos and a lemonade. My daughter had the salmon Picatta and my grandson had the honey siracha strips. We also had calamari. Everything including the lemonade and watermelon fresca was delicious. I will definitely be back 😊
Very casual dining. I had blackened chicken and my girl had the seafood saute. Both excellent! Servers were super nice and friendly! It seems like the daily specials tho are the way to go, tho. Im gonna grab one of those next time. Reasonable prices, especially for quality.

This is the best restaurant. The service is friendly and the food is the best food I’ve ever eaten. I recently told my husband I don’t know why we ever go anywhere but Fernandos when we go out to eat. So I don’t think we will! The great thing is, is that they have a variety of foods so if you’re in the mood for Italian but the other person you’re with wants tacos or seafood then going to Fernandos leaves both happy. Definitely try the wet burrito it’s the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

This is the best food in town. The seafood is wonderful. The pasta dishes are equally impressive and I cant wait to try their Menudo next. The salads are substantial! The calamari steak got rave reviews as did the taco salad, black and bleu pasta, and the seafood saute. The service is excellent.
What a great place to eat! Food was great and the staff was helpful. Was different than your run of the mill restaurant. Meals were generous and had plenty for left for a nice lunch the next day.
Good service, the food was decent. Loved the chips. The mole, or wet sauce, was sweet to hide the heat that was trying to be the dominating flavor. They do have some fish options that were delicious. Id go again, but only if friends really loved the place.
Ive eaten here many times. Fernando is awesome. Im a bit unique in my Mexican food tastes. When I explained to him what I wanted, he prepared it just perfectly. And, sometimes I only go for the carnitas. The food is good, the place is clean and the owner is an awesome person.
Ive only been there twice (so far!) and have only ordered off the Specials. They dont have a cook, they have a chef! Such a perfect touch with the seasoning and cooking (Prawns were perfect!) Maybe eventually Ill get around to the regular menu items. If I had someone from out of town that I wanted to impress for fine dining, this would be the place.
I have had lunch here twice and both times the food and service were great! Fish tacos and taco salad were wonderful! My friends have raved about the wet burrito and tri-tip sandwich. Having heard high ratings about the Posole (not on the menu, but they now have it daily); today we both ordered it to go. Delicious! One order will be two meals for me. Cant wait to try other menu items!
Absolutely delicious food. Fernando is a great host and chef. Great location and prices are very reasonable. We had the chicken piccata, wet burrito, posole and fish tacos and it was a 10 for each one! My only thing i would suggest is a deep cleaning of the dining area. We will be back every week!

Hands down, the best restaurant in Yuba City right now. Ive been eating here all year and now I feel he has just perfected things to the point of every single thing I eat is out of this world phenomenal and swoon worthy!! I am not a huge salad person but the sonoma greens hits the spot every single time, even when Im craving carbs!! I thougth it was all about the carnitas, but Ohhhhhh myyyyy freaking goodness, the honey shiracha chicken will be my salad go to from now on!! The carnitas are still phenomenal, but I will keep them to the cali burrito, which is my #2 fave along with the chipotle mayo. Honorable mention for the fish tacos!! Everything is fresh and flavorful. Tho for me personally, my lesser faves, at least in the past, have been in the italian section of the menu, its still very, very good and I may at some point try that side again, but I have found so many other phenomenal menu items, its hard to try something else. The one thing on the italian side that you dont want to pass up is the Tiramisu!! I worked in a high end italian restaurant for many years and have had lots of Tiramisu from many places and have never been a big fan. Thats until I tried Fernandos Tiramisu! I now go in solely to get a slice sometimes, its that good!! The service has also evolved and improved, not that it was bad before, you can just really feel the team coming together and fine tuning!! His prices are on point as well, especially for what you get. Not pretentious, very welcoming atmosphere but still higher end ambiance for date night! The flavor is what you would expect from a niche fine dining establishment that takes pride in every single dish that leaves the kitchen, but you still get that home feeling and most importantly, that home flavor, just elevated!! This is the spot!! Support, support, support!!!!
The tri tip sandwich was on point! All fresh ingredients and delicious homemade BBQ sauce. I was able to cut my sandwich in half with a butter knife! My husband had the shrimp scampi served over pasta and was extremely satisfied with his choice. The staff and owner make you feel welcome. We will definitely be a returning customer.
The prices are so good and the food is so amazing I discovered a hidden gem and I thought Id share. I had the Cali Fries with Chicken. The chicken was so flavorful and the sauces were on point. A little bit of spice but not enough to take over the flavor. So good!

Just had their Cali burrito, hit the stomach just right! Asada was cooked perfectly, fries were fresh, and the salsa Verde was also a mouthful. To top it off, the agua fresca de melon was refreshing and tasteful. Great experience with the owner and food.The only thing I would like to see is more items on their menu, not a lot to look at.

Ive have had Ferns on beale and from cali kitchen a few times now.Items of note:Cali burrito is not only very good, its also enough for me to eat over 2 days of lunches.Fish tacos, while you only get 2 the are enormous and more than enough to fill with the beans and rice side.The posole is rich and deep, I dont know of a better posole. If he made menudo half as well as he makes the posole I would have to change menudo spots.Great place and interesting personal touches on food you know.Also the chicken piccata is awesome really the food is just plain good

2023-08-17 02:13:25Ive been here several times and I feel like I owe them a great review. Went here by a friends recommendation and Im sure glad I took it. Im a big seafood guy so I went for the salmon piccatta. And that didnt disappoint. It was the tastiest salmon I ever had. This is like fine dining at half the price, probably beats the fine dining places around this area. Dont be fooled by the not so fine atmosphere. Ive been to upscale restaurants and they dont even come close to how this restaurant prepares and serves its salmon. To me, food is primary, atmosphere is only secondary. Plus they have wonderful service and treat you well. Ill sure be coming back here many times over.

The servers were attentive and very sweet! I ordered the Portuguese Pasta with chicken, sausage and shrimp. It definitely has a kick to it but overall it was very good. My daughter ordered the Cali chicken burrito which was so filling that she couldn’t finish it 😊 Thank you for making our family dinner date night a success! We will definitely be returning.

Service is good and the prices are appropriate for the serving size. I got the fish tacos this last time and they were the BOMB! Go here if you get a chance and you will not be disappointed. I recommend the fish tacos, carnitas plate, or the wet (or Cali) burrito. Cant go wrong.

Although, the furniture looked homemade and had dents and scratches. The menu wasnt too large but it definitely does need a second page full of dishes.I went with a friend and her kid. And get kid was very rambunctious so the owner offered his employees to watch him. So we ate in near quiet ambience but my friend was worried about her kid. So, I couldnt quite say we were eating in peace. Anyways, it was very cool to eat there and I hope to eat there again but with my family, soon. Anyways, enjoy!

Today we tried Fernando’s after a friend suggested it. What a unbelievable surprise! The food was some of the best we’ve eaten anywhere in the US. It compares to any high end restaurant that you’ve been too. My husband had the Basque Lamb. He said it the he’s he had ever had!! Give them a try. You will be in for a treat!

Along with a friendly host.Unfortunately even with the great service I got very bad food poisoning on my first trip there.

What a nice place, the food was great, Our server checked back several times to see if we needed anything, she was very friendly and kind.We sat in a room to the side that was nice and quiet and cool very relaxing.The food was very good cudos we have another wonderful place to eat!

2022-09-20 02:37:09This was my first visit and it wont be my last. I have been building up my momentum to check this place out. Well today was the day. I wasnt disappointed at all. Fernando’s is a happening joint. The food is like smoking weed for the very first time and getting a one time high. This place as you can read all the 5 star reviews on yelp stating the food is exquisitely delightful, with a tiny bit of awesomeness and scrumptious taste of delicacy. A round of applause on my behalf. Heres to an excellent choice of a great hole in wall restaurant. The food exquisitely prepared and beautifully presented on a platter. Their location is quite secluded, but the diner looked quite appealing from the outside. However, parking was limited on a busy day though.I am an extremely satisfied customer today. I will definitely be back and try all variety of things on the menu. The fish tacos are yummy 😋 delicious. On my next visit Im trying the salmon and calamari steak is my favorite, but I going to come again to try everything else on the menu. 😍I am now a forever customer. Ill Definitely go try it again & again.Absolutely amazing food. Fish tacos were the BOMB. I highly recommend everyone to plan to visit. Check them out for yourself.YOU will undoubtedly be amazed.

2022-08-16 12:46:04First off this place is the real deal. Eating here transports your taste buds out of this town and into an exotic destination. Forget all the others in this city, they dont compare. I cant express myself or give any analogy to explain the flavors I just tasted. Fernandos hands down takes the crown.
