The best Shanghai food in Bay Area for my personal taste. All of my orders were great. The indoor decorations are cozy. The environment is clean. A really good place to have food before/after you go to the outlets.

We’ve visited pretty much every Shanghainese restaurant in Bay Area and this is by far the best taste and authenticity. Even it is 40min away from where we live we still plan to visit in the future from time to time for the taste.+ Authentic Shanghainese food and comprehensive choices. It is not that common to see drunken crab on the menu!+ Fresh ingredients, rich flavor.+ Nice decoration and clean.+ Friendly staff.- it is a bit expensive and the portion isn’t large.

Saw a picture of the dry sauteed string beans and based off that decided to check them out. They were so good I would return just for them alone.While we were getting seated I saw a dish coming out of the kitchen and asked what it was crispy noodles and ordered those too. Very good, and they are crispy youll need the serving utensils to cut them.Got an order of the twice cooked pork, very tasty and nice thin slices of pork.Lastly we tried the steamed pork bun these were our least favorite.We couldnt finish everything but would definitely go back. Since its in the Pacific Pearl center theres plenty of parking. We didnt call ahead for reservations and didnt need them.

Nice restaurant located at the Pacific Pearl strip mall. Plenty of indoor and spacious outdoor seating. Staff is helpful and friendly. They cut and split the huge pork knuckle 😉 Food has lots of Shanghai specific specialties. Flavors are spot on Shanghai flavors.

Love this place! We eat here or grab takeout from here about once a week. It’s also where we celebrate holidays and birthdays (they can set you up with a banquet menu if you ask). Jessica, the manager, is wonderful and will help you pick out the best dishes of the day/week.

Very good food. service, and ambiance overall. Good COVID safety precautions with well-spaced out tables and some outdoor dining. The Shanghai dumplings and dumplings in chili oil were huge and delicious. The noodle dishes were plentiful with fresh perfectly cooked noodles. Perfect place to stop after outlet shopping or fruit picking in Brentwood. Will definitely return to try more dishes.

Not the best chinese food and dimsum we’ve had. The hot and sour soup was good, the combination fried rice was ok. The dumplings in chili oil, shu mai and beef with scallions was a disappointment. The shu mai was all rice and hardly any meat ( you can see the pictures), the beef with scallions was a tasteless version of mongolian beef, and the dumplings in chili oil has a sweet taste and no flavor also. This restaurant is serving Shanghai style chinese food. I did not know the different styles of chinese cooking but when I asked, the lady server said that Shanghai style are more on the sweet side than other chinese food. I guess you live and learn. $72 down the drain.

Very helpful and courteous servers. We ordered Shanghai noodle, siu long BAO and beef noodle. Other than the beef noodle, the rest are pretty good. Beef noodle though is the worst I have eaten. The beef is so tough that it was almost impossible to chew. So disappointed.

We were in town for some shopping and stopped by afterwards. The restaurant was busy and we didn’t have to wait long at all to be seated. We were promptly asked if we wanted tea or something to drink and given menus. I don’t speak mandarin and the owner was able to communicate with us in English and some Cantonese.There are a few Shanghaiese dishes we are familiar with and have had elsewhere so we wanted to compare: the Shanghaiese flat noodles (“Leen Go”), the hot and sour soup, the dumplings in chili oil, and the beef meatballs (Sze Tze Tau), and the red bean dessert (almost like a flatbread).The food was good and came out in 5-10 minutes (soup, noodles, beef, dumplings, dessert). Certain dishes like the dumplings were a bit salty (not uncommon with northern cuisine), but the food was flavorful. I don’t think the one star reviews are legit and they are a bit off base and harsh. The restaurant was clean, the food was good, the price was a bit pricey but not out of range for Bay Area pricing that I’ve had at other Asian restaurants. Our 5 course meal for two came to $65.There was selection here that isn’t available elsewhere. Not a single reason for a one star review. Contrary to another review the food isn’t Americanized; the restaurant was full of Asian people (I have yet to go to a Chinese restaurant that is Americanized that has a full house of Asian customers; thats like finding a Chinese Unicorn). This is worth a try people so that you can make a decision for yourself.

We had a very nice waitress! The food came out hot which was great and it we weren’t waiting too long after we ordered. We ate the Shanghai stir fry noodles, an extra spicy noodle bowl with beef and salt and pepper fried pork. Everything was so so good! Very much recommend :)

The food is hit or miss. Half the dishes are over seasoned. Its very salty depending on the day. The prices are outrageous considering the portion size. 20-50 dollars per dish. Overall, the food is okay but the value isnt great.

Stars ONLY for the food amount and quality!From the times saving to visit this place on the occasion we’ve chosen mid autumn festival and unfortunately got disappointed that almost walked out of the table without getting the order.Came for celebration dinner around 7:00PM and got in line for the table. Got seated around 7:40 PM and made an order. The place was almost full with people coming and going.Drinks arrived with the lipstick on the glass. Eric, host, I apologize for the delay stating that there are lots of online orders and them having only one chef on the floor. At around 8:15 PM we have started asking for the food status when the place was more then half empty. At 8:30 PM, when we were about to walk out of the place with being a bit frustrated, chef and we assume manager started bringing the food out. Meanwhile about 3-4 servers were peacefully chatting behind the bar in front of us.Food wise, the place really worth every single bite of it.Light and flavored boiled fish can feed 2-3 guests. Boiled beef would definitely need some side, cause the soup is sooo rich that you would not want to waste it. And in case you want to go late, just go with Shepherd‘s purse. Either one of these dishes can serve at least 2 guests.Inside seating is kind of odd due to the pandemic, however relatively authentic. Really did enjoy the outside fire pit.With that being said will definitely be back and hopefully will increase the rating to the deserved stars once service improves

Nice and clean restaurant, friendly servers and fairly authentic Shanghai cuisine in term of flavor. But some food could be made with better quality for the price. Hope to see tender pork in smaller pieces, juicier spare ribs. Maybe it takes some time for a new restaurant to get on track. Will be back in a few weeks to check out other dishes.

Authentic Shanghai-region food prepared with thought, light touch & high quality ingredients. Without being Shanghai-sweet, the dishes were reminiscent of ones we had at high-end restaurants from across the ocean. Seafood was fresh, beef was tender, pea sprouts was both. Fried entrees came crispy, soup steeped in multiple layers of flavor, xiao lung bao satisfying. Special callout for prawns w walnuts, in which the (huge) prawns were delivered tender, not over-wrought with mayo (like so many others): very hard to do just right with such large pieces of shrimp. The (smoked?) fish was also a standout for being meaty & tender as few Shanghai restaurants manage. We also discovered a highly refined fish filet in rice wine sauce on a 2nd visit. All the classic Shanghai dishes were done with competence and a restrained flair.Staff were happy & solicitous. Indoor seating had see-through separators, while outdoors (at night) had festive lighting. Overall a complete experience.

For the price you pay, Id expect the dishes to be larger. But I digress. I thought the salt and pepper pork was just okay. It definitely had that familiar profile that Ive grown to love, but it also was tough and chewy and tasted a bit stale if Im being honest.The eggplant was pretty good, as well as the string beans. The fried rice was also decent, though as mentioned before, Id have liked a bit more.Overall, quite pricey but might be worth it depending on the dish. Service was excellent, though.

Sunday lunch and just had to wait a little while for a table. Distancing was appropriate and staff wearing masks. Menu was easy since there were pictures. We ordered the xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), wontons in chili oil, zha jiangmian noodles, dry sautéed string beans, and fish dish with wood ears. Enjoyed all the dishes. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Would definitely return again!

This is my second experience at Fiery Shanghai, first time was a couple of months ago for lunch and last night for dinner. This is authentic Shanghainese food, not to be confused with regular Chinese food... the flavors are complex, super delicious & addicting, and yet not overly spicy. The food servers are extremely helpful if you need recommendations, and the dishes were served surprisingly quick; we received our food within 5 to 10 minutes of ordering! Both visits were with my father who lives part-time in Shanghai, so thats a great recommendation on top of mine! He visits Fiery Shanghai one to two times per month. I read the negative reviews from a year ago, and from what I understand when they first opened, they had a different chef and a new food serving staff trying to perfect their game. Apparently, things have considerably changed since over six months ago and it shows. Overall, this is a great restaurant with delicious Shanghainese dishes and great service!

Not good. Not worth the money. Not recommended. There are may better Shanghai restaurants in Bay Area.We first ordered old shanghai pan fried bun, this is the worst. The wrap is half cooked, sticky and not fully proofed. The meat is just so so. We initially wanna try black pepper beef, but when we see this quality of bun we canceled the beef. They initially not let us do so. Food quality is definitely not worth the cost.

Came in when it first opened and just last week. Service has improved and food quality is great if you know which dishes to pick. The vegetable salted pork fried rice and Shanghai pan fried noodles were really good and unique. The chili wontons tasted like it frozen and reheated. The price is typical for Bay Area restaurants so it’s on the pricier side but for the portions you get it’s worth it IMO.

I was pleasantly surprised. Im extremely picky about Shanghainese food because Im Shanghainese. The fish (松鼠鱼）is extremely well done. Its basically a lightly fried fish with sweet and sour sauced poured on top. Its a very famous dish in many regions of China including Shanghai but extremely difficult to find good restaurants that can make it well. I found it here. I also likes the stir fried rice cake which is a well-known Shanghainese dish and also done well because the rice cake is just right not too soggy. Overall I recall coming here and disappointed before but really enjoyed the recent meal. The 生煎包 however looks horrible from a neighboring table so dont order that at all.

Went for a nice afternoon lunch and of all the places I picked this up. Ordered the spicy fried rice, steam dumplings and crab. Steam dumplings were not good and crab meat tasted bland. I am not sure what triggered a reaction in my mouth from just a spoon of the spicy fried rice. Apparently they add a numbing pepper (a kind server informed us after we returned it). Please state this before anyone places an order, we couldn’t eat even a spoon of it. Same goes with crab. I have had a lot of good Chinese food and maybe this is just not meant for general people. We left hungry from a restaurant a first of first. Please make sure you ask about the numbing pepper it’s highly allergic and staff should put this on the menu.

As a Shanghainese, I attest it is authentic Shanghai style Chinese food, probably the best in the whole San Francisco area. The owner is from Shanghai, so no surprise they offer a wide selection of dishes. Ma-lan bean curd (马兰头拌香干), bran dough (烤麸), braised minced eel (响油鳝丝), braised duck with bamboo shoot soup (老鸭汤), small steamed bun (小笼包), peanuts with dried sea grass (苔条花生), just to mention a few! Highly recommend!

This is American Chinese restaurant,everything is sweet, sea cucumber with beef tendon one menu is $28.93 and another menu is $38.93, the waitress said 38.93, that’s no problem because she said it’s good so we got it. But it comes out in a Little pot and taste nasty and way too sweet, we asked the waitress why it tastes like this and if they can change it but they refused to do so. Also the Shanghai braised pork is sweet too, it tastes so different than in another restaurant, prices is ridiculous high and not even a good food. I will never go back again .

Food quality and service has vastly improved since it first opened. XLB is just ok for me, although its juicy, it doesnt have the texture & flavor that i prefer( Like DTFs) Prices are on the higher side considering portion size you actually get. But waitstaff are friendly and eager to please. Overall its pretty good, i would probably frequent more if portion size can catch up with food price.. I also recommend management not put trees and plants close to food tables, we had to continuously shoo flies away during our meal becuz we were seated so close to a plant...Hostess was kind enough to bring us candles to deter flies but unfortunately it was scented which is not too appetizing to smell while eating but nonetheless i appreciated her effort to remedy the situation.

Fiery Shanghai has more of an authentic Chinese menu than what many are used to. So this means you wont find orange chicken or General tsaos that you expect. This is located in a brand new plaza across the outlet. The service was great and they were very friendly refilling our tea. We ordered wonton soup, cold brisket in spicy oil, and the fish fillet in spicy oil. Everything tasted excellent and it was prepared amazingly fast. I definitely recommend this place. Just an FYI, their dim sum options are limited for dinner and they were out of the pan-fried buns at our dinner visit.

I went with a big group of my family and didn’t order, so I’m not sure of all the names of the dishes, but overall it was quite good and I would definitely go back for more if I lived in this area or when I return in the future. One of my favorite fishes was the drunken chicken (strong Chinese wine taste). Their stewed pork belly was pretty good (4 stars), too, but not the best I’ve ever had. The only thing that was definitely disappointing was the red bean dessert with red bean paste layered in between thin, fried, crispy skins/dough. We all agreed this dessert tastes better with the thicker and softer breading/dough that other restaurants use for this dish. My local cousins said the food here is just as good as restaurants in San Francisco but without having to deal with going to SF (long drive, paying for parking, etc).

Honestly, pretty mid. There are better Chinese restaurants near this area. The flour used for the baos are pretty thick and not as thin as the ones Ive had before, might be personal preference though. One dish we had was exceptionally bland. Shang hai chow mein and the sweet and sour fish was decent though. Might not come back, but not bad for a try.

A large menu with great selection of Shanghainese dishes. However the taste and decorations were not at par with their prices, quite underwhelming.The interior looked like there was some attempt to look luxurious, however, they definitely cheaped out quite hard. The restaurant was spacious. Their seatings had gold rims with flowers decors, which was quite nice. However, the table cloths were old. Their chairs had some pretty ugly fabric coverings to hide their $10 chairs. The ceiling still had the old panels. Their specials were written on a white board with dry erase markers.Onto the food. The braised duck was quite dry. The sauce tasted like it was straight from a grocery store jar. Dan dan noodles and soup wonton were fine, but also no wow effect. Perhaps other dishes that I did not try were better, but I would recommend these to be either taken off the menu and have a smaller menu, or spend more effort to making them better.Please also change the table cloths and ceiling panels if the restaurant wants to fit within a higher end profile, which they seem to want to based on the prices.

Ordered the spicy beef noodle soup; noodles were bla, generic factory made noodles not fresh or thick cut like many other restaurants; beef was good but not worth $13 same w/ string beans dish. Im not a super spicy eater but my friend who is LOVED the flavor and heat of some of the dishes as well as their (seemingly) homemade hot sauce. I especially loved their chicken in rice wine appetizer dish and their wonton in chili oil dim sum. The wonton in chili oil was flavorful, a little hot in a tongue-numbing way, but done just right! Will definitely eat here again!! ... If only I lived closer...

The Xiaolongbao is bigger than normal ones, but the meat and gravy are a bit greasy, and the skin is thicker, which is normal.The boiled fish smells so good on the table! But there is not much aroma in the mouth, but the fish is delicious.
