First Street Alehouse would be a great spot to share an appetizer and a beer. Then walk around historic Livermore. The Cobb salad was tasty. Its a yummy combination of romaine lettuce topped with chicken breast, applewood smoked bacon, blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes, avocado with balsamic vinaigrette without egg. The beer list is long and they serve an assortment of artisan cocktails and wine. If the date is going well, walk around historic Livermore to get to know each other better. There are plenty of shops to browse and cozy corners for that first kiss. Or venture to some live music in the heart of Historic Old Town Livermore. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

We ordered a cheese turkey burger to go and asked for grilled onions and extra cheese. They did a great job. Replaced fries with a honey mustard salad, and it was very good as well. We also ordered a regular hamburger with a side salad. It was perfect as well.

Our server, Annie, was AMAZING!! She was very helpful, friendly and quick with our needs. The dining area is kind of dark and surrounded by their vast collection of beer cans. The bar area is much more livelier and brighter. Food selections are pretty varied so everyone should find something good to eat. Nice place to meet up with friends!

We got there when it opened and it was fantastic. It was a Friday morning and it was great until around noon. At that time itll get really loud from patrons and street traffic. Inside theres ample seating and a back room. We should have taken that! We had Reuben and onion rings with a cider.

Friendliest staff welcome you, unfortunately the attention span wasnt great when my companion ordered their drink and food, maybe it was just my great smile that distracted the server but both drink and dish they received wasnt just what they ask. With that quick response and no question ask while they exchange it to the original request.I was surprised how specious this place is, plenty of space and moderately busy around midday.The food was.. Well, I like my burger medium rare, so when no one asked you the level and serve you a well done angus burger its quite disappointing, yet they do take customisation and addons which was nice.Flavour wise nothing special. And although burger is a food you can eat by hand, been supplied with a fork and actual steak knife(not sure what kind of steak they cut with those knifes) without the need to ask.Fries where over cooked and didnt had the best texture inside, felt a bit powderyAll and all, ok with a great potential to do better

Fun place! Indoor and outdoor seating. Food was yummy! Philly cheese steak had a nice kick. The seared Ahi tacos were so good! Beers were phenomenal! I had an apricot ale I would definitely take home.

I was on a business trip and we chose this place for dinner one night. All I have to say is that the California burger with the garlic fries is definitely a win. They also have five TVs so youll never miss a game. I also counted about 40 beers on tap, so take you time choosing. All in all a great experience.

Outdoor dining for bunch 3/14/2021. There were plenty of outdoor tables. It used to get really busy here because of their breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet is no longer available due to Covid. The food is always awesome. Today we had calamari strips $12.50, mini corn dogs $8, alehouse burger $12, fish and chips $13, mushroom Swiss burger $13.50+garlic fries $2 and seared ahi tacos. Im in love with the chef and wait staff. Great job everyone at First Street Alehouse.

Fun stop! They boast the largest collection of beer cans on public display in the US … not sure if it’s true but they do have ALOT of cans. The restaurant is large with lots of tvs but not loud like most sports bars. So you can watch or talk. Some groups were celebrating each goal during the World Cup soccer game but the space is divided into rooms and it is easy to continue a conversation. The beer batter fries were crispy morsels of goodness! The sausage and tortellini soup was delicious. The tortellini was slightly firm, as it should be, thinly sliced sausage and lots of chopped veggies in a yummy soup base. ..with just the right amount of spice. I ordered a side of garlic bread. Perfect pairing!

I hadnt Been here in awhile.. the service was Amazing! We had way too many food?! We ordered all of the appetizers!! A little bit of everything and we enjoy it sooo much!! The mango haha sauce was not realize spicy, so I was disappointed.. the wings were good.. everyone enjoys them.. I really liked my Nachos.. the carnitas were sooooo good!

Stopped here on way to bay area, we had come once before and they are solidly good. I had a delicious pulled pork sandwich with habereño coleslaw and macaroni salad that was quite tasty. The sandwich was sweet, savory and spicy but not too spicy-- a great flavor profile that hit the spot. Note I had them hold the cheese. Mummy has a blt with sweet potato fries and a Thai chili sauce for the fries, an excellent flavor combination. Note, they are open a little later than other restaurants in the area and are not too far off the freeway. I would rather wait and eat here than along the 5. See pics

I just ate the best burger everrrr. Don’t judge, This is my first year in the US and the first burger I tried wasn’t exactly top rated so I just assumed Burger cannot taste better than what I ate the first one. The Alehouse traditional Burger with well cooked steak and steak fries is the best burger I have ever had. The place is really big and we sat right outside. I will definitely go again before I leave CA to try out something else. I am so glad my colleague at work recommended that we go there.

This place is a must for dinner. We sat down and had a server right away. She got us beer samples and our we ordered. We had our food in under 10 minutes and that place was packed. Not an empty seat in the house on a Wednesday. The food was so hot and fresh. The server came by to check on us every few minutes and as soon as we were ready she grabbed us boxes and our check.

Stopped by this place after some wine tasting to switch it up a bit and get some cold ones with friends. This place had a really cool vibe in downtown Livermore. Even though it was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon, we were able to find some seating on the back patio which was also full service.The beer selection was fantastic, they had a wide variety on tap that could hit any craving. I would probably prefer sitting in the back patio area if I ever get a chance to make it back to Livermore because it was a fun atmosphere and the service was great!I didn’t have a chance to try any food but from what my friends told me, they really enjoyed their meals and thought it was delicious. The burgers did look like you got a lot of bang for your buck! Stop in if you ever visit downtown!

We have been going here for years, always great service, always great food. We averaged at least 1 visit a month for the past 3 years. In January we had great service but were served cold burgers, the owners over heard and gave us a discount on the meal which we thought was fair. In March we returned, we were greeted with great service and cold burgers again. We noticed an add for a kitchen manager in the window, we will most likely not return until they have hired said manager:/ still great beer and service.

May 2022, We came late in the evening at 9pm so service was a little slow. Ordered a burger and fries, and a chicken ceasar salad. Took them 20 minutes to take the order, then 30 minutes to get it to us. By the time the food was put in front of us, it was 9:53pm and they close at 10. We were then rushing to eat our dinner bcuz the staff was being extra loud about moving chairs around and putting them up on the tables so we would see them trying to close up. We get it, youre trying to close and get out of there asap..., but its not our fault it took 53 minutes from the moment we sat down. Especially when it wasnt busy at all. Its not like we came in and the place was packed and there was 40 orders ahead of ours. That being said, the burger was good, done just the way I had asked for it. Fries were a little greasy, but still crispy. My brothers chicken ceasar looked good as well. Probably just an off night for service, well still be back to give the place another shot.

Reliable hangout. Wide selection of beers, ciders and food to go with them. Consensus amongst my friends is that the pineapple cider is to die for so give it a try. Food is pretty decent and will help you deal with the morning after hangover.I really like how you can choose to wrap your burger in lettuce too, so would recommend for carbophobics.They also offer buffet breakfast on weekends which is absolutely lovely. Staff are nice enough.

This has become a family staple for us. Everything just makes sense at Ale House.Indoor seating, outdoor seating. Wait times are reasonable or negligible. And when you have to wait, plenty of time to kill walking downtown.Food is always good, fun beer list and staff is friendly. They support fundraisers for local schools, and it just feels like a community staple. What really put Ale House on the map for me was how they handled the pandemic.

Had the seared tuna tacos and a creme brulee.The tacos are generously served with large chunks of tuna, topped with even larger chunks of avocado. The taco could benefit from a trait of ginger. The default side is rice. I looked for something more sea food, but the alternate selection is more burger oriented. Comes with a lolly pop!The creme brulee is a great surprise. Nice hard caramelized crust, hiding a onctuous vanilla custard. I mean real vanilla, one could see the little black seeds.Good value for the money, nice and lively place, open late.If anything, just try a creme and beer!

This is a place I really wanted to like. We got seated and our server took our drink order. My husband wanted a michelada, but the server seemed uncertain as to what this drink was and he simply said that they did not have it. So, my husband ordered a beer from the menu board. After the server walked away, my husband went to the bar and ordered the michelada, and he returned with one. When the server returned to take our food order, he was surprised to see my husbands 2nd drink. We were going to order lunch and decided to just get loaded nachos with carnitas as we were already turned off by our servers lack of knowledge. The nachos were very good, loaded with lots of fixings. Cant really blame the server as his lack of knowledge could be due to age and inexperience. We realize that many restaurants are facing challenges with lack of employees and minimal training with the few employees they do have. Well give this place a second chance if were ever back in the area.

This is a favorite go to place. I havent been here in a few years. It was nice to see that some of my favorite items were still on the menu. Met up with my friend for drinks and dinner. Our server was so on top of things. She was sweeping things away as they were finished and paying complete attention to all the tables in her section. Food was great . Atmosphere was great. Some of the staff who were off duty came in, and were meeting up. I think that says a lot about a place when you work there but you still love to eat there. They had some awesome recommendations for My next visit. Food is still very consistent. The place is still just as busy as it always has been. This is one of my favorite places when I visit the area.

Ive been to a lot of places in Livermore but for reason this one escaped my net. I enjoyed the beer and food I ordered (as did everyone I was with). The burger was something different. Not everyday I find pesto on my burger but it was good. Went well with my ale. The real stand out though. The fried pickles. I love me some fried pickles and these were exceptional. I could eat those all day and then come back for more. First time ever eating pickles shaped like fries but now I wouldnt want them any other way. Good stuff. Fries are worthwhile as well.

The server was nice, but sitting outside every other table had a dog with them, and we ended up taking our dinner to go due to the annoying barking. Beer selection was limited for an ale house and they dont serve liquor. Acceptable place to eat if you are already right there, but wouldnt go out of my way to come back.

The food has always been good for me here. Burgers are great but my 2 new favorites are the Cobb salad and the fried pickles. The pickles look like fries. I was confused at first but once I tried one I knew they were pickles and they taste great. A nice batter on them and the pickles are still just a tad crunchy. The Cobb salad is one of the best for thevalue in town. Its big and loaded with goodies. I have done both dine in and take out and its always the same quality.

Pretty good! Had the ahi tuna tacos. I love the large strips of tuna and avocado, but thought the meal really needed to be tied together a bit more, flavor-wise. The taco shells are incredibly tiny, yet packed to overflowing with the salad which makes them difficult to eat without dumping all the good stuff - tuna and avocado - out on the plate. The ponzu sauce is really needed for flavor (surprisingly, the ahi and avocado are rather plain without), but it really needs to be a sauce and not liquid, or a proper dipping bowl should be provided and not the teeniest cap-sized cup Ive ever seen. Beer battered fries are good but tend to be a little limp instead of crispy. Garlic fries are all right, but its your standard, not-seasoned-at-all large steak fries with grated cheese and bits of garlic heaped on top. Fries desperately need flavor so the mouthful of unimaginative potato is not so overwhelming.. or just more of the ranch dressing, which was good, but sad that you need to pile on ranch in order to make garlic fries pleasing.Might be worth a second shot, but I would try something else. I did really like the root beer on tap.

Saw this place on my Roadside America app because it had the largest beer can collection on public display, so I convinced my wife to go here for lunch. (We also like beer.) We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon after it’s been raining for weeks, so there was a lot of people. Our wait was about 30 mins. The selection of beers, although small, was pretty good. My wife got wings, which were a bit spicy for her. I got the grilled cheese of the week, which I thought was great. The atmosphere was very chill. Lots of folks just getting together with friends on a Sunday afternoon. We’d definitely go back the next time we explore the Livermore area.

Theyre here for the beer and alcohol. Prices are good too. I mean where can you go in the Tri-Valkey and get breakfast for 12.99 ? Here. Plenty of coverage. At night you cant a table in our popular outside. Most popular cafe/bar in Downtown Livermore PERIOD. Good for them. If they take time for a pro cleaning crew (outside holed black tables so liquids can fall through). Theve Bern here for a while and you know food build up can happen especially walls under tables like beebs. But if they got that patio prepared in that dept. Spent lunch here with aweek and while the waiter we had was very attentive and the atmosphere on the patio was beautiful that day, I cant really give the food 5 stars. It was good... but not great.I had a GF pulled pork sandwich. Which was very dry and very bland. No zip..and no condiments. A bit pricey for a 1/2 sandwich which was all I could eat due to it being dry.Maybe.. I will try again but... maybe not? So many great places to try in Livermore.

Great tap list, friendly staff, food was tasty, the five stars is for one specific detail. I ordered some wings, the menu said 10 wings. When they arrived, I was dismayed, because they were the tiny wings that Marys chicken seems to be sending restaurants these days, but unlike most restaurants who just send out the same number of wings as it says on the menu no matter the size, someone in the kitchen saw that the wings were on the small size, and they gave me maybe 5 more! I really appreciated this greatly, it made me feel like I was getting great value, and that someone really cares about the customer experience, so thank you.

Was wine tasting with a friend in Livermore and wanted some food afterwards. Our waiter was super nice and helpful, but we were seated next to the door which was freeeeezing and they didnt have cocktails or anything warm to drink so I was pretty cold the entire time. I got buffalo chicken strips, not half as spicy as Id like but they were good. The prices were reasonable, over all a decent spot. It was completely packed on a Saturday afternoon so many call ahead.

Went with family on a Saturday night. It was a meet in the middle place for 11 of us. From SF to Modesto with my Brother and SIL from Montana. When most of us arrived we were seated and started with drinks, then appetizers, then dinner. The service was incredible. Never did we have to wait, I swear before we were done we saw at least 1/2 of their staff. All friendly and accommodating. The food was fabulous! I highly recommend.

The chicken wings are the best Ive had upon moving to California. I love the beer can display they have on the walls. The parking can be a bit busy but expect that when going to a downtown area, as well as the restaurant getting busy, but reservations on the phone are easy and the staff are friendly. This place is great for birthday dinners.

Cool place in downtown Livermore. There were quite a few people there even though it was just a random weekday afternoon, but its pretty big so it didnt feel crowded. I had the grilled cheese of the week, which was really good, and a couple of beers. They have 28 taps, with a lot of good local stuff, and Coors light, something for everyone! Also the collection of beer cans on the walls is pretty epic. Nice spot to stop in before you hit the rest of downtown.

To go order, so review based on food only. Ordered two salads, chicken Cobb and Thai beef. Servings were generous, which was great for a salad. But salads were missing ingredients and portions/cut of meats were way to large (as if the meat was cut for sandwiches, not salads). Just an odd way to serve salad. Meat was cooked to perfection and tasted great, so that was a big plus.Will definitely try again, but may order something other than salad next time.

Service is good, as always First Street is super busy, if you don’t get water up front you will not get it. Bun on the chicken / Hamburger is much too large and you are left tasting more bread than any of the fillings. Beer battered fries are the best and make the meal much more enjoyable. Our waitress did a great job serving us last night. I was not happy with the first beer being incorrect, tasted like they mixed my beer and when they came with the right beer tasted great. Hostess was not friendly (on the verge of rude as though my friend and I were an irritation) and it took a bit for our server to get to us. Garlic Fries were so cold that even the parmesan cheese shreds were not melted nor were they sticking to the fries. We have eaten at First St Alehouse many times with great results, but Saturday night kitchen staff were really off their game. My Phillie cheesesteak had half the meat typically used which may be due to current economics so I will not order this again. But my other halfs chicken strips were cold, as in never heated prior to serving. Guess someone forgot to run them through the microwave. Disappointed as we do not eat out that often so this was a very special event for us. We will go someone else next time.

They have a decent amount of beers with a sampling of some locally brewed beers. They have had Pliny the Elder the last couple of times Ive been in 👍they had a nice Pineapple Cider, it was a bit sweet but was tasty and glad they had it on offer. The beer menu is somewhat IPA centric, so youll be happy if that is your thing. I prefer saisons, so options for variety are somewhat limited. The food is alright, its good ol American pub grub with some interesting choices. Tried the impossible burger once (it was actually beyond burger) so I was disappointed it wasnt impossible, but it was nice that they had alternate available. The fries are super good. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes great and sometimes feel like Ive been forgotten. But it has never been below average.

From the eclectic and largest collection of beer cans in America to the friendly staff to the delicious food, First Street Alehouse is a must-visit if youre traveling to Livermore. My California burger and garlic fries were outstanding. The hostess and server were friendly and hopeful. The beer selection was great, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Cant wait to visit again!

Good food, great beer selection, and a friendly atmosphere. Good burgers and salads. Onion rings are highly recommended! Watch out for the jackfruit vegetarian tacos - unless youre impervious to hot spice, they are hard to eat. Free refills on the fountain sodas. Tootsie Pops come with your meal😁. A little noisy for conversation - it a huge room. Outdoor seating is great on the street or in the back beer garden.

Eh...typical pub food in options, quality, and service. They are always busy and the restaurant is very loud. My husband likes the rotating beer list and my kids like the tootsie pop... Im convinced it is the only reason they ask to come here. Every time we finish up another pricey, mediocre meal, I regret that we didnt buy a bag of tootsie pops to bribe the kids with to go somewhere good. Unfortunately this review wont change anything since they arent hurting for business.

Went here twice while in town for a wedding. Food was great and they have a good variety of beers along with kombucha! The service was fantastic! I would definitely recommend this place. The food cost was very reasonable as well! You get great portions too.

Whoa! What a great place! The food options are diverse, they are SUPER keen on accommodating vegetarian and vegan diets (Im not vegan, but I still think this is fantastic), the beer selection is awesome and the servers are great. Meercat (my server, you know who you are) has some sort of empty-drink radar, and she magically appears the second you take your last sip. The potato and leek soup was the soup today - it was phenomenal. The philly is the perfect blend of cheesy and spicy.Everybody from the hostess, to my server, to the young lady who brought my food was SOOO nice and friendly! This is an hour from my house - I was in town for some errands - Id honestly drive here again just for lunch.

In a good location downtown, with plenty of parking to the rear, this is a very accessible alehouse.For more than a decade Ive been enjoying their fine selection of craft beers. I still feel the brown ale is served too cold, but its good once its warmed a bit.The food is tasty, and the portions generous. ½lb burgers.The front patio is well shaded, a benefit in the summer time.

The alehouse embraced outside dining when it became possible earlier in the COVID pandemic, having a large tent out back in the parking lot, and tables in the front adjacent to 1st street.Regarding food: I have almost never deviated from the fish and chips, except to say that the Cajun fries were new to me, and awesome. Their usual excellent range of ales was...excellent!Its worth paying a visit here to support local eateries.Update: although a tiny variation, their physical menus have returned! Much like many other eateries when outside dining started, their menus migrated to the 2D barcode type. When we visited the other day, my wife pointed out that we were actually HOLDING them in our hands!Double update: our recent visit (late May 2022) was the first for a couple of months. That earlier visit was pretty special - somehow my wife caught hold of an announcement that the Alehouse had gotten hold of a release of Russian Rivers Pliny the Younger. We dropped what we were doing and headed over to have a pint of this Holy Grail. Yummy! We now know what the fuss is about.

Good food and service. Waiter was super friendly, fast refills on drinks, kept checking in to make sure everything was good, but didn’t excessively interact with us. Also I dropped the lid to the hot sauce and couldn’t find it and they told me not to worry about it even though I felt bad lol. They let you choose whether you wanna sit indoors or outside too.

This place always seems to be busy. The wait for a table wasnt long though. The selection of tap bees is always changing, theres something for every taste. And of course good local wines.They will split any order. My husband and I had the house burger. Cooked just the way we like it.Its great for families too.Everyone gets a Tootsie Pop!

We came here after dinner on Monday night in June. The place was hopping with peeps and we decided to eat outside.I had a yummy Frozen Apricot Margarita for $9. And my partner had a Pliney the Elder--which he is a big fan.After having our drinks, we walked through the place, and realized that it was crowded inside because there was a NBA Playoff game. Everytime the Warroirs made a point--the crowd cheered in unison.This is a great place to have a drink with friends, and maybe even share watching a game.

I went here for lunch and ordered the Jalapeno Burger and a side of garlic fries. Neither one seemed to have any salt. The burger was under seasoned and one dimensional and the fries had far too much garlic and trust me I love garlic, but when the meal was done, there was probably a whole bulbs worth left over.The atmosphere was probably the nicest thing there. I can only assume that, due to the large crowd there that they must do something right. I will have to come again in the evening to sample their beer selection and perhaps try something else. I will give them a second chance because I cant shake the feelng that I missed something.

We receive consistently good service when we come here and the food is always delicious. My husband and I like to order the nachos and split them between the two of us (trust me, one order is enough for two people). My husband however likes to specialize the order (no pico, avocado instead of guacamole, etc.) and yet they get it right every time. My only tip is, if you’re going to visit during a busy time, plan to wait for up to half an hour. Also, if you have a large group, you need 3/4 of your group present to be seated. Other than that, I love this place!

Five stars is not enough for how great this place is. The food is great, the beer selection is awesome, and the service is even better. We have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. We went last night and our experience was even better than usual. Our server, Heather, was super knowledgeable and went above and beyond our expectations.
