First time here, outdoor seating is preferred. Indoor is a little dark and loud.This is my new favorite sushi place! Really unique offering on rolls (loved the pickled jalapeño in the Medusa Madness!), miso soup was excellent w/ fresh seaweed and firecracker tuna app was great!We didn’t wait long to sit and the service was attentive and quick. Can ask for more than that!

Best sushi rolls in all of Los Angeles. We always love the top secret roll which is the daily chef creation. The pornado isnt my favorite roll, but its a must have for the experience 😂. All of the sushi here is inventive, creative and unique. Highly recommend. They also have an insane happy hour!! Buy a roll get a roll 50% off and its on weeknights but also from 12-5pm on Saturday and Sunday making it the perfect sushi lunch place on the weekends!!! I drive 40 minutes to eat here, thats how good it is.

I had a great experience at Flyin Fin in Los Angeles, California. Its a great place to go if youre looking for a quality sushi meal, but also want something different than the usual. Wonderful sushi spot with inventive sushi options. I ordered the secret with no limitations on what Id prefer from the chefs. What I received was the highest value sushi plate I have ever had with essentially free, sashimi stylishly plated. Flyin Fin could easily be 50% more expensive elsewhere in the LA area. Come for happy hour!

I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone & I will continue to bring people here every time we have visitors. The service is incredible, I always have the sweetest waitresses and the food is always consistent and INCREDIBLE. I’ve never ordered anything that wasn’t delicious but I would highly recommend any of their special rolls and definitely their firecracker. YUM

Had an absolute feast as a party of 6. Every single dish was incredible! Yellowtail collar, the two carpaccios, sashimi was fresh, specials were barracuda and blue fin toro, we ordered both. The blue fin toro was the favorite of the entire group but we honestly think you can’t go wrong here!

Delayed review from 6/17/23Service was excellent, some of the rolls were good, but one of the fresh water eel sushi was terrible, eel suppose to be cover the top of the rice however half was covered in eel and half was covered with skin without the eel, just the skin, what a cover up, so disappointed, I will not visit this restaurant again.

Fusion sushi done by Thai chefs. The specialty rolls are good (large portions). The normal sushi bar items from market (some written on the chalk board) and sushi/sashimi platters are more expensive than other sushi places. I would stick to their rolls.

Ok, Ive been meaning to check out the Flyin Fin for a while now.Finally got down there and wasnt disappointed. Their menu offers up many of your expected choices of a Sushi place but also has some specialty trists of their own that you will find worthy of taking a ride over.They have a extensive selection of starters and I chose their Fire Cracker and was not disappointed. They also have a nice Sake selection. I chose a Kizakura to go with my entree of Buttery Black Cod that was cooked right on point.The best reason to go through is the service. You wont find a better more engaging staff. For me it was wonderful conversation and smiles from a young woman Sora whose smile and personally made my visit a very nice dinner out. Another young server Dennis with a really great personality also came to talk a bit and like Sora made me feel welcomed and appreciated.Bottom line is the Flying Fin is well worth the drive to Redondo Beach. Good food and excellent service. I will definitely be back soon.

I came at a recommendation of a friend and I think I found my favorite local sushi spot! The service was quick and our server was very very nice. The spicy edamame is a staple appetizer that everyone must get. It clearly goes out the most. Happy hour is a great way to try new things and save some money. Ill be returning to try more.

They have good prices over here. I know some people complained about Happy Hour prices not being honored, but we arrived there for their dinner service and had our prices honored. The rolls were great all around, though we did order the soft shell crab and it wasnt all that great (not enough meat!)The real issue for us was the service, even though we arrived for the beginning of dinner service, it took them an hour before we got our rolls. Our plans to double up on rolls were ruined by the wait, meanwhile most of other people waited got their food much earlier.

Who ever makes the sushi rolls dont know how to make sushi at all! It wasnt wrapped all the way so everything fell out and the presentation was messy and horrible. Misu soup was excellent tho I could drink that all day. The spicy tuna didnt taste like spicy tuna it just taste like normal tuna but the spicy mayo helped that. Not that great at all and dont recommend coming there

Our 1st visit, and we loved it!Unfortunately, there was a table of very rude patrons there before we arrived. They were trying to save seats, and were very rude to others trying to be seated.I mentioned the incident to the server, as we were being seated. He was very apologetic. The staff had been unaware as they were indoors retrieving food. The server ensured we were seated far away from this group, and took care of us to ensure we had an excellent experience.The food was amazing & delicious. Our group ordered several items to try various things. We were not disappointed by the food quality.They were very busy, during the time we were there. They would benefit if they had someone who focused solely on drink refills, but other than that very helpful staff.When we visit the area again, we would definately eat here again. Yum!

Excellent spot if you are looking for special rolls. From subtle flavors to some serious heat. I had the 100 degree along with Blue Fin tuna nigiri to go. Both were fresh and the tuna was pretty smooth. It is located in the Riviera Village and parking might be a bit difficult during busy hours. Service was great, they even accommodated an extra order while they were closing for the afternoon. Dine-out spots are open following COVID-19 restrictions all along the street so if you have time sit down and have a relaxed meal.

I have tried all of the sushi in Southbay. Flying Fin is the best by far. I am a sushi role fan. Flying Fin Mega Omega and Jaw Drop are my favorite. My highschool daughter and I are there every Friday night. Being located in the Redondo Beach Riviera provides plenty of parking options. The restaurant itself has simple decor and a lively atmosphere. It is a must for sushi lovers.

The time with my dad, the waitress was serving her boyfriend sitting at the bar next to us and flirting while my dad and I were trying to get her attention for more food and refills. Ordered delivery through DoorDash. Estimated time was about 1 hour but it came 15 minutes early! Everything was packaged nicely & securely. One pleasant surprise was that upon opening the containers, all sushi rolls had their sauces in individual containers.Our order- You could tell all ingredients were fresh & high quality. Munchy Crunch & King Cobra rolls were exactly as expected & tasty. California roll would have been on par but the added sesame seeds gave it an unnecessary nuttiness. Geisha Gone Wild roll was way spicier than anticipated. Im pretty sure it was due to the sauce. It was actually ordered with the thought that the mangos sweetness would balance the jalapenos spicy but instead the spicy overwhelmed & the mango was no where to be found. 100 Degree roll was tasty. Its description came off as super spicy but it was surprisingly less spicy than the Geisha Gone Wild; unless you smothered it in its accompanying sauce. Seaweed Salad was more vinegary than sweet. Octopus sashimi was perfectly tender & super fresh with just the right chewiness. The only issue was the attending lemon slice. The couple of octopus slices that laid on top completely soaked up the lemon flavor. This is probably due to shifting during delivery & would not be an issue during dining in.

Place was horrible!! So much sauce and rice. couldnt even taste the fish!! And they knew it was my birthday. What a rip off! They did not want to honor the happy hour prices during happy hour. And when they finally decided to they punished us for it by giving us thin slithers of fish. Then displayed a piece of fish to us, mocking us by saying, you know what this is..... Salmon. yea, we used to live in Hawaii and we are both pescetarians. We know our fish. My advice to them: do not judge a book by its cover and Treat everyone equal. First, there was a fight next to our table between a drunk guy cursing loudly and another father who was there with his kids. NO ONE in their staff stopped the fight or said anything to either party. Instead the drunks decided to curse more loudly while the other family walked out.10 minutes later-No joke, I had a band-aid in my mouth when I took a bite of their salad. I told the waitress and she said, Hold on, and went to the back kitchen instead of apologizing in shock like a normal person would.She then came back and offered $10 off on our bill, yet she auto-tipped herself 22% since we had 4 adults and 2 two year olds. I then told her about it and she knocked it down to 18%…I called and left a voicemail to the manager on the following day as well as an email. Two days later, I have yet to receive a response from anyone.

I was actually impressed that they use real crab instead of imitation. my dad and I split Tekki maki, Amazing, and Flying Fish roll and my mom got the Teriyaki chicken. The food and service was definitely worth 5 stars; however, my mom got the teriyaki chicken and it didnt really come with a lot of chicken in the dish so we ended up having to order more for her. At $13 a plate it should have more than 15 thin strips imo. Over all a great high end sushi place to eat at, I just wouldnt recommend getting just the teriyaki chicken alone as a meal.

I walked into the spot alone, sat at the sushi bar and ordered a large beer. I was one of only three people sitting at the bar. In the 20 minutes I sat and drink my beer not a single chef said a word to me, never asked if I would like to place an order, never engaged me what so ever. When dining alone I generally sit at a bar to engage with whoever is on the other side. After I finished my beer my server approached and asked if I would like anything else and I replied no. She said let me get your food orders from the chef and I replied dont bother, no one ever talked to me or took my order. With a surprised look on my servers face she apologize and walked away. Less then a minute later she came back apologized again and said the beer is on us. When I got up to leave, what should have been my chef said he was sorry and I walked out and went to Japonica another sushi spot a few blocks away where I was greeted and engaged by Val a very personal server / manager. I have sent many years in the restaurant business and eat out frequently but have never had an experience like this and found it more surpriseing sitting at a sushi bar.

While theres no doubt that this restaurant could perhaps improve some of their wacky special roll ideas (which are really sacrilegious considering the way sushi is meant to be eaten), their more traditional sushi and rolls are fresh, tasty, and overall good. Heres what Id recommend to anyone who appreciates good quality fish and flavor: stay away from their special rolls with all the unnecessary sauces, cream cheese, or any of those things. Fish should be fresh enough to be eaten without any spicy sauces to cover it up. For this reason I am wary of the munch cruncy, Philadelphia, or Oh Crab! rolls. Not only does it taste cleaner and fresher to have simpler sushi, but also it allows you to determine if its fresh -- theres no sauce to cover up what could be poor quality fish. I would compare this to a coffee shop brewing badly burnt or poor quality coffee and then covering it up with a bucket of sugar and milk.I have been consistently pleased by the quality of their traditional sushi and sashimi. I particularly recommend their bluefin tuna, which is really melt in your mouth good.BUTTheir special rolls, I believe, are composed of ingredients of an inferior quality. This is probably why they are even able to give the buy 1 get 1 50% off deal.

Used to like this place and then lost all respect when they served the wrong sushi roll that contained shrimp that I am highly allergic too. Staff response was not good. I am now waiting parked outside urgent care for 4 hours taking benadryl. Completely spoilt my work day and I will be too scared to sleep tonight..The handling of the matter by the waitress was appalling. All she did was laugh.
