This is my wife and Is favorite place. With excellent customer service and the uniqueness of this Market and Cafe, you will not be disappointed. Our first date was here 12 years ago. We visited again on a vacation we had not had in 3.5 years—the flavors, freshness, and quality you will receive when ordering this food are phenomenal. The pumpkin shakes were perfect to pair with our entrees. Please spend some time in the market to look at various things to purchase. I recommend trying egg-free mayo. It is sugar-free and preservative-free—vegetarian mayo. A classic is born.

Can’t begin to tell you how much we love this store and cafe. It’s stepping into a classic old school health food store and it’s truly magical. We have tried so many items on the menu of the cafe and have NEVER been disappointed. Same with our kids. They beg to come here for special dinners. Best desserts and the staff has always been nothing but awesome. The store itself is rad, we always find new vegan products to try along the old faithfuls. Definitely need to try this place out.

One of my favorite places to go. The cafe here is great and everyone is so kind. If a warm local grocery store vibe is your thing then this is your place. They have some pastries made in house that are 🤌 you can sit inside or on the patio for the cafe too. The parking lot can be small but there is ample parking around the area. They have some products that you cant find at most stores too so check it out

Amazing store and restaurant (back part of the store). This place has pretty much every vegan product I have heard of. The restaurant has great breakfast options (I believe weekends only). Non-dairy options available only upon request, otherwise all vegan. Service was great. Massive portions!You need to pay at the cashier in the store with your receipt.

This restaurant is one of those good old restaurants that I’ve been around and you can’t go wrong with eating at this place. It has a very big area to sit inside and outside but specially outside is wonderful on a great sunny day. Make sure to try their stuffed shell/pasta and cheese dish with meat sauce and their meatball dish is also definitely good to order and expect big portions so you better be a good eater.You will enjoy anything you order from their menu, and the staff is also very friendly.And they also have a wide selection of vegan and gluten-free food in their menu so this place covers almost anybody who wants to eat and no noI was not paid by the restaurant, but we do quite often stop by here too have a wonderful meal.So for sure, I would recommend anybody who wants good food and a wonderful environment to have a meal.

Man how times of changed for me. A couple months ago if you had asked me to recommend a place to eat Follow Your Heart Cafe would have not even crossed my mind. Then a couple of weeks ago a suffered Cardiac Trauma. I was forced to face my indiscriminate consumption tastes. I had to make a drastic life altering mind set in particular my eating habits. This restaurant offers up some health conscientious options that arent necessarily tasteless or boring. I eased myself into it by ordering the chicken sandwich (beyond meat) which to my surprise was flavorful and NOT dry. It came with a pickled vegetable garnish. I ate half of it and took the rest home. I think knowing you have options will help transition people like me into a healthier lifestyle in regards to dining.

They cook with CANOLA OIL. How is this good for the heart? I did not give them 1 start because the staff is great and they have other products that are awesome plus cool gift ideas. If you love your heart then order from the SOS Menu (Sugar-, Oil-, & Salt-Free Menu)

I really like FYH cafe and its products! I think the grocery section is expensive - many products can be found elsewhere for a lower price but here you pay for the convenience of having nothing but vegan choices and some unique/local products! The cafe section is great. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and the menu is extensive. Im a big fan of the Reuben sandwich and the chocolate chip muffins. There is a parking lot next to the building. There is no wifi available unfortunately - it would be a nice place to work from if it was available.

This restaurant has been a long time favorite. They have such great food, and this is coming from someone who is not a vegetarian. My favorites are their melted cheese sandwich and the nut burger supreme. I get it with sprouts instead of lettuce and add bacon bits and grilled onions.

Follow your heart is an experience. Worthy of calling it an institution in the valley that is a must visit.At the back of the vegan grocery store is the restaurant. For the unfamiliar, follow your heart makes vegan cheese and other products available nationwide in natural foods and grocery stores.The vibe is eclectic and very hippie. You may as well be in Joshua tree or Palm Springs.Bill our server was super friendly, funny and had great recommendations. We asked for deconstructed nachos since they do not travel well and we wanted to take some for our nanny.Desc: Organically grown stone ground corn tortilla chips with spicy chipotle cashew cream, organic black beans, guacamole, sour cream, Pickled Onions, Pickled Jalapeno & fresh salsa. Insanely delicious. On hindsight we should’ve just asked to bring it all mixed together.The banh mi is spectacular and packs a lot of flavor and with the jalapeños some heat.Desc: Savory tofu topped with pickled vegetables, jalapeños, fresh herbs and Sriracha Vegenaise on a French baguette. Served with Coleslaw or Housemade Pickles. We opened for coleslaw.The favorite item on the menu was a Russian roulette gamble, where we asked bill to make us a pizza that’s insanely delicious and a surprise. He picked pesto, and the toppings of artichoke hearts, tomatoes, fresh garlic and roasted red pepper. FYH makes their own cheese and the crust felt like it was made with high quality ingredients, lots of flavor.Overall a very positive experience where you don’t feel gross and crave your next meal and the 100’s of items you could not try. You pay in the grocery store and 5% service charge for staff is added, you can add additional tip. We picked our deserts to go and ate it in the car. Their triple chocolate cake is decadent and so is their Whoopee pie.Tip: If you have kids, ask for their kids menu.Tip: Parking is easy and free in the lot besides the store/cafe.

I have been coming to FYH for the past 35 years. What I am able to tell you is about the appalling recent developments at this establishment.Every time I came here during 2021 and ordered waffles, the server would tell me they do not have them. Is it not the responsibility of a server to advise patrons what food they do not have BEFORE they take your order? I used to be a waiter. I always made it a part of my daily practice to find out which items were not available so I could advise the patrons in advance. Failing to do so is not good for business because now the patrons have to decide on another menu item which takes up more time at the tables.This practice eventually upset me so much that one day I spoke to the manager. The manager looked at me with a blank stare and said, Okay. After I found he had nothing else to say, I walked out without ordering anything.In 2022, they printed new menus. Waffles were not on them. I asked the server if they discontinued them. She explained that they actually do have waffles, now, but did not have them before because their waffle iron was broken. Due to the pandemic, they had a hard time getting a new one. WHY the manager did not explain this to me when I complained in 2021 instead of looking at me with a blank stare and saying, Okay to my complaints is beyond me.The IRONY of all this is they did not have waffles when they had them on the menus - now, they have waffles but forgot to put them on the menus! Another irony is that I got a better explanation of the situation from the server (a year later) than from the manager.My 2nd issue is their new Optional 5% Service Fee. Should they not also charge a utilities fee, insurance fee, and a toilet fee? I would rather they raise their menu prices by 5% than insult their patrons. To add a fee is blatantly advertising that they do not know how to pay employees a living wage. When I pay for my food, I am paying for the whole business - not separate sections of it. I e-mailed Follow Your Heart about this but they are silent. Maybe I need to pay a Read-the-Emails fee.

I love this vegan/vegetarian market/health food store! They even have a super cool selection of crystals and polished gems as well as a great assortment of gemstone jewelry. My only gripe about this place is the prices are really high but I know you get what you pay for and good health only comes in the form of what you consume each and every day so I get it, but with the hyper inflation weve all been experiencing it can be rough on the average individual living in California. I still continue to shop here but I limit it to only certain occasions. Aside from that, this place is so amazing, which is why I gave them 4 stars. All the staff from my experiences here are really cool and helpful as well as knowledgeable about their products.

For one, I am not a fan of vegan food. I love my meats to be meats, my dairy to be dairy, and I stay away from coconut (yep, Im one of those who gets sick when I eat, or even smell, coconut). My wife found this place, as it said vegan options, which she needs because she cant have dairy, gluten, and has other dietary restrictions (she can have meat).Come to find out, the whole menu is actually vegan. Their menu actually is very helpful, telling you if items are gluten free, gluten free option, has nuts, or has coconut.All that being said, we couldnt have been happier with the food there. I loved the fettuccine alfredo - anything done to make a vegan alfredo sauce was done so well, I couldnt believe it was vegan.I would recommend the restaurant, will go again sometime (my wifes other restaurant she likes is only open early hours), Im really curious how their pizza is.

Honestly….. the food isn’t that good here anymore. This place has gone downhill. And now with so many vegan options they should be trying harder. Cashier is always rude and entitled in the way they ask you at checkout if you want to leave a tip for takeout. If the employees aren’t making enough money than Follow your heart should give them a raise. God knows they have enough money. Especially the young guy with long hair that ALWAYS has an attitude and acts like he’s doing you a favor. Bear in mind they charge a service fee, hidden in the bill, for take out, on top of asking you if you want to leave a tip for your take out order. I’m done with this place. I asked if I could have a pickle with my sandwich and they said, it would be $1.50. It should be called Follow your wallet. Goodbye 👋

I’ve been coming here since the mid 2000s. I returned last week having not been back since 2019. The nut burger is as good as I remember and the peanut butter date shake was incredible.One thing that’s changed is a 5% fee can be added to your bill so the back-of-house staff can have a livable wage. Follow Your Heart, shouldn’t you pay your employees a livable wage? You’re selling millions of dollars worth of products around the USA. It’s odd you’re asking customers to pay your staff better. That’s your responsibility, not ours.

Great vegan store with lots of options - they carry items I can’t find in any other store. The cafe is great and the food is delicious and I never have to worry about asking the server a bunch of questions to ensure the food is vegan. I only wish they had more locations :)

Used to love this place. Lately the service has been awful. Went there yesterday, sat at the bar, nobody acknowledged our presence for nearly 10 minutes (it was empty, not at all busy) so we left. Probably won’t be going back. Lots of other (better) vegan options in town these days.

I had the chili which was awesome 😋I also had 1 tamale. The tamale was like a small piece of cornbread, not tasty at all and not worth $6.50.I picked up a slice of Coconut Cake out the refrigerated section. The Vegan Coconut Cake was delicious! It’s a pretty pricey store and cafe. Oh and the Chili Baked Potato!!! Is delicious!

Love this place! So many vegan and gluten-free options. Cafe is great and we enjoy the outdoor seating. Usually theres a guy playing his guitar out front which adds some nice ambiance. The attached market is awesome for many hard to find vegan items. They have a fun assortment of gifts too! Staff is friendly. Definitely recommend!!

I brought a friend to FYH last week. It was a chilly day and had rained in the morning so I got a Love Plate (half a sandwich + soup or salad + beverage). My lunch was so incredibly perfect, I wish I could repeat it every day! FYH changes their soup offering daily so I mustve lucked out because my favorite Popeye Sweet Pea soup was available. As all their soups are, it was fantastic! My half sandwich was the meatball sub. Even dedicated meat eaters love this one 😃 My drink was hot coconut chai tea with some almond coconut creamer. I couldnt have asked for a better meal in a cold day than this one 💜

Classic gem in the SF Valley! Vegans, vegetarians and yes, meat-eaters dine here. Been dining at Follow Your Heart Cafe for many years. Food and service never disappoints. Min of 2 soup options each day (one always vegan). Never had a soup I wouldnt order again (often take 2nd bowl to-go). Bobs Breakfast is my go-to breakfast. Recently, hubby decided to change things up and order a new item - Woke Stir-Fry (with Tempeh). Wow! Portion was huge and so flavorful (tons of colorful veggies). Hubby came back two days later and picked up the Stir Fry to-go. And who doesnt love a little shopping afterwards in their market. Such a great place that I hope is around for many more decades.

Many Follow Your Heart (brand) of vegan products are available.Located in the Follow Your Heart natural foods grocery store¹, this unique restaurant offers an upscale menu of coffee shop favorites, that are vegan. Separated from the retail store, the room is relaxing, softly illuminated with lighted salt crystals and sculptures. The tables and chairs are comfortable. There are no booths. A small patio, in front of the store, also offers table service. Our server is knowledgeable and friendly.The straws are made of paper. The napkins are made from recyclycled material. No styrofoam is used. Follow Your Heart is doing their part to save our planet.I ordered the Club Sandwich. Its large, very large. Three slices of whole wheat bread, a garden of veggies, vegan turkey slices, house-made vegan baccon crumbles and vegan cheese, and, of course, Follow Your Hearts Vegenaise spread. The massive sandwich was covered with crispy french fries. Luckly, they divided the sandwich into four, holding it together with sandwich picks. I ended up devouring the delicious sandwich, but, sadly, left most of the fries.I brought home my wifes favorite pastry, a Cigar. The vegan, sugar coated, flakey crusted, cinnamon flavored, tubular pastry is delicious. My wife cuts it into bite sized pieces and enjoys them for a few days.Many of their sandwiches and entrees are available for takeout in the refrigerator case, located near the front of the store. I particularly enjoy the triple layer, vegan club with bacon bits, turkey, tomato, lettuce, and Vegenaise. Its similar to the restaurants, only the bread in not toasted.Prices are reasonable. Everything is wheelchair accessible. Parking, in their lot, is free. There is a handicapped entrance, near ADA spaces as the rear of the parking lot. Metered street parking is also available. ADA compatible restrooms are located at the rear of the store.¹ Since 1970, Follow Your Hearts factory store offers their nationally recognized food products and a broad selection of competitive vegan products. Their bakerys pastries are vegan and delicious.

Not everything is vegan but it’sa really great place to eat and shop! The food is vegan from what I understand but if you check closely, not everything in the shelves is vegan. They sell badger hair brushes, products with honey and dairy, etc. If you’re the t type to read labels carefully in stores, do so here as well!Aside from the disclaimer, they have some really amazing options that are hard to find elsewhere

The worst customer service I have ever got!!! No one was helping me to sit. I had to find a seat on my own. It took way long for them to get my order. The servant was not caring about my glass to fill it in. The food was ok! Nothing special, I won’t definitely stop by again and don’t recommend it!!

As I parked the car I heard this wonderful soothing guitarist romancing my ears I felt heart warm to the sound. On the sidewalk stroking the strings. 1st time ever at this Earthly store green foliage at the entrance. Walking up and down each aisle eyes viewing the items, my nose was drawn to the rear of the store and a Cafe with tables and chairs, a bar for single seats and the smiling waitress asking was I eating alone or waiting for others. The smell was fresh and inviting. The menu was for Vegans, healthy foodies, yes meat was an option too. Clothing organic, crystals, gem stones, food for your dog or cat, found this place while driving in The Valley love this place, did I mention that they sell vitamins and everything herbal including teas and tinctures. The staff were very friendly and helpful as knowledgeable.

Best vegan chicken pot pie Ive ever had in my entire life. The falafel was so soft on the inside and crunchy in the outside. The kale and beet salad was a perfect match. First time in LA. While there are alot of unique products to choose from, some of which Ive never seen anywhere else its very expensive both in the store and the cafe. They also are uninclusive of EBT, creating a huge gap in cliental as anyone on government aid would not be able to shop here which is highly disappointing. This is just another health food store that has high potential yet has a pay wall. Furthermore, I was told by the cashier that the place was ALL VEGAN, however they are not fully vegan yet but nothing towards that. They are currently vegetarian so if youre vegan youll need to read labels.

5 star rating for the excellence of the vegan menu. We come down from above Topanga to the valley and always stop there.The sandwiches we have gotten are outstanding. Salads are fresh. Brunch last Sunday was biscuits and gravy with tofu scrambler and roasted potatoes. Superb.Follow up 5 years later. Still like an old fashioned American diner which is a plus in the world of cookie cutter fast food. I tried chicken pot pie in remembrance of my childhood days of Swanson’s TV dinners and frozen pot pies. This is just like that with too few “solids” but a good crust. I would not try it again but it was fun.

The cafe was okay. I would give the cafe 3 stars. I had the benedict with Wonder Egg and potatoes. The potatoes were seasoned very well and were awesome, but the benny was way under seasoned, and I often feel like vegan dishes focus so hard on the health aspect that they forget it should also taste like something you *want* to eat. It can be vegan *and* delicious. The sauce was bland, the bread was too dense and gritty, and the meat replacement wasnt great. It wasnt bad, it just wasnt good either. I shouldve brought my kala namak. But I added a star for the store, which is awesome, and the employees are so helpful.

Having a corporate buyout is such a huge disappointment-And, it may seem petty, but taking off the Follow your Heart burger and calling it “The Heart Burger” and using beyond burger. Gross. Just gross. Methyl cellulose as a “filler” and canola oil which cannot even be absorbed properly by the body…If because you can’t get an ingredient, (at least that’s what you’ve trained your employees to say) to replicate the “Follow your Heart Burger”, you could have done better and gotten more creative than using a beyond burger!Thankfully the staff and the market are still great.

Always would go for the nachos.I took my girlfriend here for the first time and when we went to the Restaurant to eat they wanted you to wait in line to be seated. I was so upset i wanted to leave multiple times but my girlfriend kept saying to stay since were already here. The servers and workers had made eye contact and would walk past us multiple times without saying anything.I literally had to stop a worker and ask for menus and for someone to help us.Finally we ordered are food and it was all cold by the time it got to us.I had en empty glass of water sitting there for the whole duration of my yime there and nobody came to refill it, I had to drink my girlfriends water.The whole experience was just awful.If I could go back and time and stop myself from spending money there I would have. Was not worth the money and not worth the wait.You guys need to close down and redo your whole Restaurant experience. Oh boy.. we went there today and I immediately thought that this would be my new favorite place.. this lasted until the food arrived.Lets start with the sides: a large leaf of lettuce under a shredded carrot. Pure and dry. The main dish was called mushroom burger or something like it. I decided to try it and the food was not very good. I had the “chicken” pot pie. Miso/vegetable soup was very salty. The “chicken” pot pie tasted onions and the dough tasted flour. It came with a pecan/beets salad with lots of oil. What is the point of removing butter from dough and adding oil to the salad? Very expensive for what it is.

Quirky grocery store, delicious cafe, and toy shop. All tucked into a very unsuspecting part of town. The cafe is all vegetarian with vegan options. All delicious, its the only place my mom will eat when she comes to visit.

Over time the portions have gotten smaller and smaller to the point where I feel that I am being ripped off. I always order the Club Sandwich with no center piece of bread. In the past year, they have reduced the portion of the wheat meat so that it is a couple of slices with tomato and lettuce. Certainly should not be called a club sandwich. When I complain, they bring me more, but charge me for extra wheat meat. Tonight, was the last time. The wheat meat is a little larger than a 50 cent piece. I told the waiter and he told me that this is the proper amount. For the price of the sandwich, I can just make a sandwich at home with Tofurkey. In the past, have also ordered the nut burger. However, the nut burger is the size of a childs portion. For the amount of money that they charge for the food, I will find another restaurant where the portions are reasonable.

The classic vegan spot in the valley. A great grocery store for organic vegetarian/vegan goods but also with an attached cafe. This isnt avant garde vegan food like you see popping up at some of the new vegan restaurants. This is classic, delicious vegan food such as tofu scrambles, rotating soups, and sandwiches. They recently added beer and wine too!

Follow Your Heart is the prototype for vegetarian health food stores. Their in-store cafe is a classic, and all of the sandwiches, salads, soups and dishes are excellent. FYH is particularly known for their famous soups. You can choose between dairy and vegan options. All dishes are flavorful and filling. For beverages, you can pull a bottle out of the stores organic fridge section or you can choose from the restaurants fresh brewed teas and organic shakes. My personal favorite is their Red Zinger Iced Tea slightly sweetened with a vegan Honey substitute.Back in the 70s, my parents saw the Beach Boys eating out on the patio area of the diner. FYH brand Vegannaise (vegan mayo) is available in many supermarket health / vegan sections.

I remember FYH since the 80s. Way before Whole Foods, and I also remember way back when Mrs. Goochs Natural Food Markets was acquired by Whole Foods back in 1993. I basically go to FYH now to buy Vegenaise, since its at least $2 a jar cheaper than Whole Foods / Ralphs. And recently they were only $4.49 a jar ($7.99 - WF/Ralphs) with their temporary special discount sale!I went there today to buy 2 jars of Vegenaise, but the Original one expires on Feb 21st and its already the 5th. The other Vegenaise flavors/recipe expires in Aug. & Oct. I asked the cashier if I could get some kind of discount, since the expiration was so soon, and he flat-out said NO. So I nicely asked if I could talk to the Manager - Hector, and he happen to be nearby. He said normally, 365-days a year, they wouldnt do such a thing, BUT he surprisingly agreed to give me a 10% discount anyway!!!Recently our Family Business - Board & Care Home for the developmentally challenged adults (since 1980) - had to close down due to financial difficulties. So for now, every penny sure helps! So KUDOS to Hector for following his heart and going beyond policy to satisfy a local customer!!Wouldnt this World be a far Better Place if everyone followed their heart? ❤ ✊
