I absolutely love this place! Me and my mother come here all the time and we always enjoy our experience there! I tell you not they have the best food I’ve had in a very long time and it is very fresh and homemade! You will not get authentic food like this from anywhere else! This place is a must try!

I went there a few times and the owners are the most awesome and sweetest people I have ever met. They are so down to earth. Now the food I have had the chicken fried rice and the chicken yakisoba noodles are amazing and the ramen is the best better than other places I have tried. The sides are also a must. I love that they use chicken breast with their dishes. I love that it is fresh and from scratch. Best place ever. Lots of flavor. If you have seen it go check them out. You won’t be disappointed

This is a little hidden gem. The shrimp teriyaki bowl is on point. Perfect size bowl with great portions and a lovely sear on the shrimp. This is a family run business and they couldn’t be sweeter or more helpful. The music is soothing which helps digestion, very chill environment. We will definitely be back for more.

Ive been a regular at Formosa Teriyaki since the day they opened about 6yrs ago. At that time it was a strong 5 star restaurant. The food was high quality & always cooked to perfection. Portions were generous. Unfortunately, the establishment has changed owners at least 4x since it first opened & with each new owner the food has gone downhill. Tonight will probably be my last time coming here. The prices are high & the portions have gone significantly down. Tonights beef teriyaki bowl was tasteless & was the size of a kids meal. Im so very sad to see my favorite restaurant take such a turn for the worse. I loved this place so much because I could get delicious & healthy choices. They use to have steamed white fish & steamed pot stickers on the menu. When I inquired recently about the steamed options I was told that steaming takes too long & frying is fast. Wow. This is a far cry from how the original owners started this restaurant out. Disappointing.

(Update below!) Formosa is the BEST Asian food around! It seems like a small, family-owned business and it has its own little charm. I love their teriyaki bowl (I got mine without veggies), and everyone who works there is super nice. Their portions are also amazing, the picture below is a plate! 10/10!EDIT (12/13/22)- Unfortunately the quality has majorly gone down. Their plates and portions are smaller now, and I don’t recognize any of the staff. While before it had the hole in the wall charm, now it’s just kind of a sad reminder of what it used to be. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it’s really done downhill. Even the chicken tastes different. It used to be cooked perfectly every time, and recently it’s been all rubbery and hard to chew. I’m actually pretty sad about what it’s become now. I really hope something changes because this was one of my favorite restaurants.

This is the best takeout we’ve had in a while. Of course we can’t order it all the time because it is a bit pricey, but worth every penny! The Shrimp Tempura being delivered is still hot and crunchy, The Cheese Wontons as well! We also had the Chicken Teriyaki plate and the chicken is delicious. And I can only imagine having eaten it at the restaurant would only be 10 times better than having it delivered. So give it a try if you love Japanese cuisine!

I have already been to this place about 8 times since I was aware it opened. Its truly a fantastic place to eat! The meat is always tender and flavorful and everything that should be moist/crispy is. Today I ate the Ginger Fish that was also delicious! This food has the kind of quality that will have you craving for the next time. If you are looking for a meal that is affordable yet tastes amazing stop at Formosa Teriyaki. Im positive you wont regret it...

I’ve seen this place today I was in the shopping center and decided to try it. I figured it would be good since all they sell is teraki. Well it wasn’t the chicken was so over cooked and dry. It looks like they boil it then try to grill it. It was soo gross it was like chewing rubber they barely put any sauce on it and it’s all cabbage and a thin slice of carrot. Overall it was gross I had to drown it in teraki sauce I had at home! I wouldn’t come back or even recommend anyone to go there. I rather go to Panda Express and that’s less of two evils. They also ask for a tip on the card terminal there’s no option to say no so they force you to give them a tip pretty sure that’s illegal.

My yakisoba was good, BUT I only found 4 shrimp on my plate. If Im paying 12.99 and tipping for my yakisoba I hope to find more that 4 pieces of shrimp. Overall, the food was good. The Thai tea was too sweet for my preference and my sister said the same about her wintermelon tea. Their restroom door is wobbly and not secure when locking and closing. In the end, I personally would not be back because of how expensive the plates are and the small amount of food I received. For reference, I spent over $90 on 5 plates of food and drinks.

This was a Yelp find, and Im very glad that we tried it. Very friendly staff, appears to be family run, and the old lady cooking in the back pops her head out and greets you as well. Prices are fair and the food quality is very good. Portions are large. You get a free cheese wonton appetizer just for following on Instagram, and those were delicious as well. Try the shrimp tempura! Another couple came in and inquired about the Salmon, which one of the proprietors states is fresh and never frozen. Good stuff!

Overall the customer service was great but ………. As much as I wanted to like this place I just couldn’t, the food was $60 for 2 teriyaki bowls, fried rice mix & a ramen with chicken, the food came out oddly fast and the meat and chicken was so extremely dry, we paid about $60 and everything was disappointing. Personally I think for a place that specializes in teriyaki bowls the meat should be made with a little love at least .. I’d rather go to waba and flame broiler and deal with mediocre customer service.

Went for a quick dinner before going to the gym with my boyfriend. Food was absolutely above my expectations and beats similar chain competitors in the area like Waba & Flame Broiler easily. The quality of service, food, and cleanliness was impeccable. We had the beef & chicken teriyaki and the salmon teriyaki. All items were exceptional, made fresh, and served in large portions-- I couldnt even finish half which makes the price point great too. Ask for the hot sauce which is some chili paste like sauce they make fresh-- ITS AMAZING!!! Thank you for a quality meal. We will definitely be back :)

Always eager to try a new promising place, we saw Formosa Teriyaki and their 5 Stars average reviews. It did not take much after that to stop by, and give the place a try.We, a party of 3, arrived past 8 PM, knowing they close at 9:30 PM. Place had about two tables occupied. Nice smiles from the staff made for a good first impression. Sing, took our orders, a personable and friendly representative. Following dishes were ordered:Chicken Wings (6), $6: we chose the popcorn type, not the sweeter kind. Have to admit they were easy to enjoy. Nice and crispy. 4 Stars.Grilled Chicken Teriyaki, Bowl $7: Teriyaki sauce on the side, arrived with additional rice, cabbage, pot sticker, and egg roll. Chicken was a little dry, maybe the late hour? You enter a place near closing time, and sometimes you just don’t get a fresh batch. Teriyaki sauce on the side right out of a bottle, it seemed. White rice at the end of its shift, not fluffy, and obviously not recently made, sad but true, and since this type of food depends on a great white rice, arriving late was the culprit of such minor offense. Egg Roll like any average one in this great land. Cabbage on point, Pot Sticker flat and lukewarm. 3.5 Stars.Grilled Salmon Teriyaki, $11: Once again sauce on the side. My lovely female companion complained inwardly about the fish being on the dry side, something to consider when ordering it grill versus steamed? The same shortcoming with the rice mentioned before. No special sauces, same ole same-o tiny teriyaki, but by request a spicy home made sauce was brought, by the very nice and efficient Sing, who never let out being a courteous and dynamic server. 4 Stars.Wor Won Ton Soup, $9: I would say that the broth was very tasty, and one of their evident fortes. Good enough to repeat, with all the makings of a very decent Wor Won Ton Soup. 4.5 Stars.Sing, and his family, embody all that is good in a family owned operation, and certainly deserve all the success they can muster. I was on a wonderful date with my boyfriend and I ate at this place and it was our first time here, it is amazing, they’re so sweet here and their customer service is wonderful, I ate all my Ramen. That’s how good it was and I had this interesting drink called winter melon, and it was amazing, I recommend this place I even gave it five stars, so if you guys are wanting Ramen, go to this place, you guys will not regret it. This place is TASTY! I got the pork Raman with a side of octopus balls and it was awesome! The service is cordial and pretty quick. I highly recommend this place!My friend and I stumbled in here after attempting to go to the King Red Crawfish and PHO place but it was closed way after opening hours...roo bad for them....good for us Formosa was awesome and probably cheaper too!

Been coming here for about two years now. All their food is really good and we haven’t had a bad experience yet.I usually order the chicken teriyaki, beef, and the short ribs either with rice or noodles. You can’t really go wrong with any of those choices the portions are pretty good size and filling. The owners are very friendly and pleasant to talk to.If you do choose to give this place a try don’t forget to get their hot chili paste… it will bring your entree to a new level of taste… enjoy!

The food is really good. I ordered the shrimp Formosa which is fried shrimp with sweet and sour sauce, white rice and cabbage. My husband ordered the chicken curry which had fried chicken white rice, broccoli and curry chicken sauce. The portions are huge so come hungry! We paid about $25 for the two of us and we had leftovers for later. Definitely a pleasant surprise.

The gentleman at the register was very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. The restaurant was very clean, service was fast and we were checked on often but not too often which is perfect. The food was perfect, I had the chicken/beef combo plate, delicious. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu. Note that this is my taste preference. This review is for the taste of their food. I just moved to Murrieta and I love Asian food. So, I came across this restaurant after searching and looking at the ratings. Customer service is good. I ordered shrimp fried rice. Now, lets talk about the fried rice. The fried rice is so-so. Its lacking in flavor and its a little bit soggy. The portion is good but the taste is really lacking. Overall, I wouldnt recommend their fried rice, maybe try something else.

Im quiet surprise with this place, mainly it being in Riverside and Riverside County doesnt have the best quality food youll find near the coastal counties. But man there isnt much to complain about this place. All the staff is nice including the owner and makes sure that youll have a great visit whenever you come. This is a pan Asian restaurant which has delicious types of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisine. I tried the unagi (Japanese eel) and it hit the spot. My kids got the teriyaki rice dishes and they loved it. The only concern I have is the ambiance in the restaurant is lifeless. Instead of eating there, we took the food home. This place is fast and efficient but I get the impression that the owners want this to be a primary take out business. If you want to sit and have delicious Asian cuisine in a sit down restaurant, this is not the place.

Even my American husband can tell it’s bad.I ordered Chicken Yakisoba it’s so salty that I had to drink half of glass of water on every bite.My husband ordered Cha xiu Raman, the soup tasted just like instant noodles. Went here for the very first time today. Never heard of it, but saw it and decided to try it out. Overall, very delicious. Some of my favorite items was the honey walnut shrimp and the teriyaki beef. It also had very traditional styled ramen bowls. The restaurant was quite clean and the employees were very nice. The prices were very good considering the amount of food youd get along with the great taste. If u wanna share a bowl of ramen with someone too, theyll give extra bowls to split the ramen up. Granted the extra bowls arent the same as the main bowl, but still pretty cool of them to do that. I would definitely like to come back at some point, despite the long distance from my home.

My family loves this place so much. The teriyaki is their claim to fame but the ramen is my all time favorite here! Big portions taste great never leave hungry. I really like the fact that the prices are posted with the tax included so you are never surprised. You found it. The best teriyaki bowl. Congratulations! Ive been to a lot of other teriyaki spots but Formosa is far better than everywhere else. I moved from Murrieta and I often shed a single tear and drool a little, wishing for a taste of Formosa. I wasnt sure what to expect when I found this place. The exterior is nondescript and the interior is on the smaller side and lightly decorated. You walk up to order and there has been no wait every time I have eaten here; shocking, but I get to chow down sooner so I dont mind. The prices are very reasonable and already include tax. Plus, the owner is very kind and helpful if you arent sure what to order. But you already know what to order, dont you? You have to order one of their bowls.

A change in ownership and food quality and customer service has suffered. I recently ordered a chicken, beef and shrimp teriyaki plate to-go and when I got home, they screwed up and gave me fried rice with chicken, beef and shrimp.It was late and I was tired so I didnt feel like driving back and forth to fix the order. The fried rice was terrible. A week later I ordered food and mentioned their mistake. I even showed them a picture so they could see proof.They couldnt be bothered with hearing about their mistake and my dissatisfaction. I havent been back since.You try to support the little guys but now its back to Flame Broiler for me..

All Teriyaki is not the same but after many tries we found that Formosa Teriyaki was the best and it was as good the Happy Teriyaki in our hometown of Tacoma. We got it to go and no disappointment at all, the food was awesome and I enjoyed it very much.

Dang they are so good! They dont do sides or a la carte options for main dishes such as curry katsu chicken or Formosa chicken. Those can only be enjoyed as full entrees with rice and veggies. It was once upon a time fantastic we went in tonight 8/11/19 and found out they have new owners .. was told everything was going to be the sameit was NOT the only thing that was the same was the rice and steamed veggies I always order walnut chicken no sauce they used to be size number 10-15 shrimp now they are tiny dried out rubbery ...the oil they used was awful I had to wash my face brush my teeth and I can still taste and smell that cheap oil so sad no more wonderful Chinese food I hope grandma is happily resting in her retirement Ill miss your wonderful food

Stop whatever youre doing and come to Formosa teriyaki for a quick bite to eat. Fiance and I found this place online and decided to give it a try. They offer Japanese teriyaki, katsu, and ramen menu with Thai tea and assorted fruit refresher drinks as well. We got the salmon teriyaki and vegetable ramen with Thai tea and mango refresher and a side of fried eggrolls. The owner is super friendly and was helpful in ordering.
