I had a fantastic experience at Fortunate Son, the Chinese food restaurant. The food was not only delicious but also a hit with my kids. We ordered a variety, including orange chicken, beef and broccoli, fried rice, and crab wontons, and nothing went to waste. The prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were generous, making it a great value for money. We left with satisfied appetites and smiles on our faces. Highly recommended!

Had the pleasure of trying this place for the first time yesterday with some friends. The food was phenomenal! We opted to try a variety of different plates and shared them for the table which worked out nicely. We tried the Orange Chicken (Excellent), General TSOs (also excellent), the Dan Dan Noodles (Spicy but excellent), Beef and Broccoli and the Lo Mein Noodles. All the options were great, I enjoy spicy foods so I would probably do the Dan Dan Noodles when I come back. We also had the egg rolls which were great! The food comes out as it was made so its super hot and worked out well for our table of 6. I would recommend getting there early, I didnt confirm this but I believe they do not take reservations and are just first come first go. We showed up at 4:30 for an early dinner and they had a table for 6 right outside (it was kind of chilly but the heaters were nice). Definitely recommend this place!

So fun! A great place to take out-of-towners for some great Chinese cuisine! Everything was so lovely, there is honestly nothing bad on the menu. The rangoons are always a hit though! Good service and fun vibe too!

We were heading to Mayuel when the soft red glow from red silk lanterns and umbrellas seduced us from across the street. Curiosity and appetite aroused, we crossed to see the menu... a small but adequate list of dishes and a good drinks menu. The tables were covered in embroidered floral silks and a giant carved wooden buddha head presided over the glowing red vibe. It was then we saw the heaping family style platters whip by our hungry eyes. We got added to the wait list and paced the outside street til the winning ring. The first plate on our table was eggplant sticky, spicy and slightly crispy on the edges...delicious..then large perfectly cooked salt and pepper shrimp..then crispy tofu...we were over the moon. Each dish more delicious than the previous. Then came the green beans..soo spicy that one of us starting coughing. .they replaced with a less spicy immediately..Cant wait to go back. Server was gracious with recommendations and quick to replace drinks, plates etc. A lovely evening with family and new friends. Highly recommended .

Put your name in and wait at one of the bars next door. They only serve beer and wine at the restaurant. The food is excellent. The vibes are excellent. The service is great. Will definitely be back when Im in the area.

The Unfortunate Waiter and the Eggplant at FS.Went here on a Saturday at around 5.45 pm.Hostess- was nice- 4/5. Seating took about 40 mins.Place- Super small space, but good ambiance. 5/5The waiter was bad- 1/5Saw him 2 times once- to take the order and later to give out the check.Food- limited menu, but totally fine with it.Our order:Gao beer, Crispy Eggplant, Crispy Tofu, Orange chicken, Dan Dan noodles, Veg Lo Mein, Chicken Fried rice.Beer- took about 20 mins to get it- which is ok.Very disappointed in the order the food was received...Fried rice, Dan dan noodles, orange chicken, Lo mien, Crispy tofu- the food was ok.Chick-fried rice was the worst- 0/5. The chicken pieces were burnt- never had such bad CFR.Crispy tofu was good- 4/5Rest were Meh.Now we ate our food and never got our Crispy eggplant, called the server and he said it was on its way- I was like were almost done here bruh- its not dessert is it...:) and finally pretty much 1 hour later we get it.Crispy eggplant- taste 5/5Note: The waiter and the Service- sucked- very bad- 1/5We had some folks that were sat before us that left after 20 mins, cos the people that came after them got their food first. So server and service are definitely an issue here- management please note this point.A one-time visit, thats it.

Best Chinese food I’ve had in sd so far! Also pretty cheap considering how much food you get and how good it is!I highly recommend the dumplings and crab Rangoons, they are so tasty and amazing! The lo mein is also really good! I tried the orange chicken which was just okay but the kung pao was pretty good, just a bit too spicy for my personal liking (I am weak)The atmosphere is very eclectic, with paper umbrellas and flowers all over + moody red lighting — definitely a must for dine-in experience.

Had to get there right when the doors opened to beat the usual long wait to get inside! Food was great. Everything is served family style so expect big portions. The crab rangoons were exceptionally amazing. Also loved the orange chicken and beef fried rice. The ginger lemonade is very ginger-y BUT I do love ginger :-) The beautiful atmosphere of the restaurant made the experience altogether great

The food here is absolutely phenomenal it’s like a Chinese restaurant but taken up 10 notches. The cream cheese wontons for example have a real crab in them and the walnut shrimp and some of the best deal ever have it’s insanely crispy. I really loved the fried rice because it has Chinese sausage inside of it. This place does not take reservations but it’s definitely worth the wait. I really love that they have a family style portions and the food is delivered super quickly despite it being very busy. The chili oil lo mein was my favorite item I loved it, and practically drank the sauce out of the bottom of the bowl. What really surprised me was how much food I got for the cost. A family of four left with a ton of left overs And I only spent 60 bucks

This place is as good as they say. Really great food and it does not hurt the wallet at all! The atmosphere is very unique and takes you out of the busy city. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area. Just be sure for a wait as they can get busy.
