2023-05-20 00:37:44Great French restaurantService: Excellent. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and they are always happy to answer any questions. The chef even came out to introduce himself and talk about the dishes.Food: Delicious. The menu features classic French dishes, all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. I started with the escargot, which were perfectly cooked and served with a rich and flavorful sauce and crispy baguette. For my main course, I had the special pork, which was tender and juicy. The bread pudding from croissant for dessert was moist and decadent.Overall: I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great French dining experience.Additional Comments:The coffee was excellent and a perfect match for the dessert. The chef was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food.I would definitely return to this restaurant. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and service.

2023-06-25 03:58:04A very pleasant surprise. First time here. Matthew was the perfect wait person. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Unique menu and reasonably priced. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. Freddie, the chef, came to the table to make sure everything was perfect. This is a hidden gem that deserves more attention! I had the heirloom tomato salad - excellent. My husband had the mushroom strudel...sublime. I highly recommend it! Everyone was pleased with their entrees.. I had the elk medallions. They were tender and perfectly prepared. Not gamey at all. I thought it was a generous portion. The only complaint I have is that they seemed very rigid in their cocktail offerings. My friend wanted a Gin and tonic and they were unable to do that despite the fact that they have gin behind the bar. I was able to order a vodka martini with no issue. But another friend wanted ice tea and they couldnt do that. Seems strange that they had the liquor but couldnt seem to veer off their list of specialty cocktails.

2022-12-31 19:24:41We visited Freddie’s based simply on previous positive reviews. The experience was a little odd since it was a late sitting and we were one of two parties seated. It was hard to gauge the atmosphere therefore, which is a big part of the experience. The interior is clean and stylish. Our server was friendly, and of course everything you hear about the chef, his personality, how he loves to interact with the guests, is all true. Most importantly, the food was delicious! We had the French onion soup, the braised rib pasta, and the chicken. All excellent.I think Freddie’s is relatively new, so there are limited reviews, but we would return next time we are in Palm Springs.

2023-11-17 16:27:53I was expecting the onion soup to be much better. The bread should not be so saggy and overly moist. We did enjoy the escargot. We want to go back and give it another chance

2023-09-24 16:01:55It takes several words to describe the ambiance: retro, upscale-casual, modern, intimate, romantic lighting, & fresh flowers. The service was excellent and provided by a warm friendly host, obviously educated and well versed in all things cusine and beverage related. The French chef loves to welcome you and check-in on you, making for an intimate and pampered experience. The food is fresh, perfectly seasoned, and with an artfully combined compliment of flavors. The menu is small but thoughtful with every selection being outstanding. This is no American super-sized, super-salty, high volume dining experience. It is totally civilized without being fussy. Just wait until you taste the French onion soup that is prepared the proper way. The elk medallions melt in your mouth without a hint of wild game flavor. The chefs preparations are exquisite! Freddies Kitchen at the Cole is a must try! And youll be back!

2023-07-16 16:46:50We’ve dined at Freddie’s several times now, and each time has been an excellent experience. The restaurant is welcoming and comfortable. Matthew, who greets you upon arrival, is friendly and efficient in explaining the specials, bringing you cocktails he prepares at the bar, and taking your orders. Better still, he paces the arrival of the courses in perfect fashion. Chef Freddie comes to the tables to check in several times to ensure your satisfaction. The menu offers a wide range of options while being reasonably sized-- there are about 5 options each for the starters and main courses, with the addition of 1 to 2 specials for both of those courses. We’ve sampled the majority of those options in our several visits and have yet to be disappointed by any of the choices we’ve made. The onion soup, escargot and mushroom strudel are particularly memorable, as each was delicious. The main courses we’ve had have all been beautifully presented and perfectly done, from the elk medallions to the bone-in pork chop. We’ve especially enjoyed the chef special cassoulet prepared with venison sausage. The wines offered by the glass and by the bottle show a nice range of styles and regions that pair well with the entree options offered. The desserts are terrific too!Overall, the atmosphere is a casual, but the food and service are at the level of fine dining. The team at Freddie’s clearly is interested in providing a top-notch experience, which they do. A highly recommended restaurant in Palm Springs.

2023-02-26 05:04:42My very first restaurant since I moved to Palm Spring. I came with a few friends, and I had the pasta while my friends had the elks. Honestly, the dishes were AMAZING! The Elk took me away as the flavors was spot on! It was absolutely tender, and especially since I had a lot of elks in my life. I totally would recommend to anyone who have not been to this place! Would definitely come back! Thank you!

2022-09-30 17:38:03Last night I not only had some of the best food in the Coachella valley, but also felt like I went to a dinner party! My husband and I sat at the bar with a couple of other diners, and chatted and ate with Matt (general manager) and Freddie, the chef.Creative cocktails were delightful. The food was unparalleled: escargot for me, onion soup for my husband. He had elk for dinner and I had pork, both delectable. Were not usually dessert people, but were glad we also shared the special: bread pudding made with croissant.Fun and delicious. Well be back...often.

2023-09-05 14:00:00One of the best meals Ive had in PS. All three of us had great dishes from start to finish: sumptuously flavored tuna tartare, skillfully prepared and delicious entrees including lamb chops and veal medallions, and a perfect croissant + apple bread pudding. I vacation in the desert several times every year and visit tried-and-true and newer restaurants every time ... Freddies moves from new to cant wait till next time!

2023-06-25 00:24:31One of the loveliest, most unique dining experiences in Palm Springs. We came in very early for dinner (330) and the manager, Matthew, and titular Freddie were quite accommodating. The food was thoughtfully recommended, prepared and served. Everything was delicious, especially the heirloom tomato salad and croissant bread pudding. We had an illuminating chat with the charming owner and had a great time. Our only note would be that it is hard to get into if you are not staying at the hotel that is attached to. My partner had to call the restaurant. Freddie picked up and graciously let us in.
