Eating KETO and was happy they could accommodate us with no rice selections. The sushi was very good and I was glad to be able to sit and eat.

This is my favorite sushi bar in Newport Beach. Not that I have been to any other sushi bar in Newport Beach, but this one is so good that I have never needed to find another. The staff, especially the chef, are awesome. If you are fortunate, he will start up a drinking game involving various sushi parts. I have had great times thanks to my cousin bringing me here. A must stop every time I visit Newport Beach. I cant wait to get back.

This place had a cool beach vibe with their music, and after you put in your order, you get it super quick. Their waitresses were very attentive and sweet, and talking with the locals on the patio, they love this place, and my wife and I loved it too.
The employees here are wonderful and friendly, and the food is exquisite every time. My wife and I come here every time we visit my aunt and uncle, because it feels like a second home. We take it slow and relax for hours.Weve loved everything weve ordered, but our favorites are the black truffle blackfin tuna, the creamy rock shrimp, and of course the toro sashimi.

Great location. Great staff. Great food selection and lunch combos. Not always open but when it is I eat here. Try the lunch specials in combinations on their big board. Great service and food. Prices very reasonable.
The fish was very fresh Ive been here a half a dozen times and the only thing I recommend avoiding is their sriracha chicken dinner. It was terrible. Everything else has been good. Other than that the prices are absolutely overpriced and nothing matches the menu that they have online. What is $15 online is really $23 when you get there.
Excellent as always. Everything is set for safe dining; plexiglass separate dining booths, plexisheeting also separate single stool dining from ordering/cooking area. Masks must be worn when not dining. Servers and preparation wear masks as well. So thankful that dining here is available again. Best genuine Japanese food
Started out with no wait and right after getting seated a friendly smile greeted us and took our drink order, then like a swiss watch she was right back to get our food order, food was outstanding and was out of the kitchen very fast. If you havent been then its definitely worth the price of admission.Tim Depies

Fuji Yama is delicious, and the presentation is always amazing, I highly recommend it for a delicious sushi dinner.
Fuji Yama is well known popular Japanese restaurant in CA for long time. I have been enjoying high quality prepared sushi with reasonable price more than 30 years and still doing it. You dont have to wait long if you avoid weekend dinner time.
No doubt one of the areas best. Super high quality, creative combos, sashimi dinner is a go-to dish, Sushi Pizza is fab, Jalapeño Cilantro Yellowtail is my fav. Porch cafe is doggie friendly, and staff is prompt and cool.
It’s ok if you just need a place to eat some Japanese 料理 but you won’t enjoy it. The fried calamary was cooked to dry without dip sauce and not crispy. The bluefin black truffle tasted good but just 5 pieces. They was trying to turned up bgm to cover people’s talking, which make the whole place more noisy.
I just love this restaurant and the food! The food is always so fresh and good! The prices are amazing for how much you are served and the waitresses are always sweet and kind.
Pretty good sushi, although there are better locations around. As others have mentioned it is a little on the expensive side but you do get what you pay for. Traveling onto 17th street or harbor blvd will yield better results but if you are set on a place near the top of the peninsula you cant go wrong with this place.
I’m a vegetarian and they made me the most amazing roll . My friend is normal and said it’s the best hand roll they have ever had . So give it a go
Sushi was alright. Prices were very high for the quality. Had some specialty rolls, sashimi, baked roll and tempura. It was good, but not great.

2022-10-14 14:45:11We went to eat Lunch/Dinner here at 3:00 PM on a Saturday with a good friend who eats here often and recommended the restaurant. We sat in the section that did not have the hibachi tables because we were planning on eating sushi instead of the Hibachi grill.We started our meal with their house salad. The salad dressing was flavorful, and they were very generous with the amount of dressing. I eat at many hibachi restaurants, and I thought this was the best salad served in this style that I have had. After the salad, we ordered the mixed tempura plate. The tempura was light and crispy. The dipping sauce was flavorful and enhanced the flavor of the tempura but was not overpowering. The plate had peppers, sweet potatoes, broccoli, zucchini, acorn squash, onions, and beautiful long shrimp.It was then time for the sushi to arrive. We ordered the Shogun Roll (a specialty roll not on the menu), the volcano roll, the monster roll, and a spider roll. I thought the sushi we ordered had great flavor and was well constructed and tightly wrapped. Nothing fell apart as we tried to eat it. My favorites would be the Shogun Roll and the Monster Roll. This was the first time I had eel on my sushi, which was very good.The service was very good, and they always kept our drinks filled. They were attentive when we were ready for the next portion of our meal and never rushed us as we ate. We left a little bit before 5:00 PM, and they were very busy. If you plan on coming during regular dining hours, I recommend making a reservation.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming, but the real disappointment came from the servers terrible attitude.Firstly, the servers demeanor was incredibly rude and condescending. It seemed as though they had no interest in providing even a basic level of customer service. They were dismissive, unresponsive, and downright disrespectful. It was clear that they had no desire to assist or accommodate our needs. Their bad attitude alone was enough to ruin the entire dining experience.Overall, I cannot recommend Fuji Yama to anyone. The combination of the servers terrible attitude, slow service, and lackluster food quality made for an incredibly disappointing dining experience. Its a shame to see such a lack of professionalism and care in a restaurant. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration by avoiding this establishment at all costs

2018-09-26 20:41:14My hubby and I stopped at Fuji Yama NB coz we read the reviews, 4.6! As sushiholics, we definitely had to try it! But unfortunately we were disappointed. It’s absolutely not a 4.6 restaurant.1. Rice. Terrible. Hard. Too much vinegar. I needed to chew the rice really hard.2. Blue-fin. Dry. Super Dry with fishy smell. Other chefs absolutely won’t serve it!3. Golden eye snapper. Why added black truffles to the sushi? Coz it’s not fresh? The flavours just didn’t go well with each other.4. Aji. We weren’t sure if they were Aji. But it’s okay. Not that bad.5. Salmon. Forgot to take a picture. It was the best. Decent. But the rice ruined the flavour.All in all, we won’t go back again. For the price, you can find way better restaurants with much fresher fish in Orange County.
