Rice and noodles were perfectly cooked. Service was pretty good, and the entertainment was worth the visit. Salmon was good and the chicken was delicious. Shrimp was tasty also and the sauces they give you were pretty good also.

This is my first time eating here. And it was delicious! The food was sooo good and in fact I could not eat all of it because they gave you quantity. The service was very good. The person who cooked was very friendly. They even played a song for my mother with lights! Would definitely eat here again

We googled food near me and these guys were open. Came here for a work lunch and we enjoyed it. They had some of the filet mignon on lunch special so we both got that.... little did we know if was a 2 oz piece chopped into 5 pieces. Lets just say it was delicious for what was served to us. Would love to come back and enjoy the tempanyaki grill next time.

Super Loud, Blan Food, Horrible Service. Definitely suggest any place else but here, way better shushi choices in Salinas. If your in the mood for Japanese food, way better choices in town for that also. Didnt try the hibachi, so no comment on that part, except even more loud on that side of the restaurant. If you have epilepsy or sensitive to flashing lights, I would think twice before going, they have flashing lights that they will randomly turn on without warning. If you have anyone sensitive to sound, please be cautious of this place as it could overwhelm them as well.

The food is really good.I recommend the tonkatsu don, the Godzilla Roll, and the Perfect Naruto Roll.The staff is incredibly nice, and always greet you with a smile.I really could do without all the kids running up and down the ramp, leading into the hibachi area. Im also not a fan of the random disco lights in the sushi dining area lighting up, and the loud birthday music playing, every time theres a birthday being celebrated in the other room.Ive been coming here for years, and every time (EVERY time), these 2 things happen: obnoxious, unsupervised children are running back and forth. And the birthday disco lights and birthday music.

The hibachi show was great. Very fun, very lively. I ordered a tuna steak. It was huge as you can see in the picture. Unfortunately I couldnt take a picture of it cooked because it was really great and I ate the whole thing right away. Everything was just incredible. Perfect wonderful highly recommended!

I was told good things about this place so I decided to go. (Really recommend to go on a slower day to get the best experience like I did)Good experience. The food was not great. Just flavorless for the meals. The miso was not meant for human consumption and so salty it made my stomach turn. Prices were high and the service was terrible. Took 15 minutes for water and 30 minutes to get miso soup. Place was nearly empty. Really just one of the worst experiences Ive had in a long while.

I really enjoyed the food at Fujiyama, which seems more like a nice place to go for dinner than a lunchtime place. The food was tasty if not a little overpriced. My one complaint was that the nigiri didnt come with sumeshi (vinegared rice common for sushi). Our server was nice but service was minimal--the restaurant seemed understaffed for lunch.

I love love love this place. Since 2020 Ive probably only eaten here 7 times and I usually get the udon noodles, and vegetable or shrimp tempura. Sometimes I get sushi. And whenever I feel the need to splurge I do all three. Their quality has not changed once, and I hope it never will. I saw their hibachi through the window once. It was enjoyable even from my seat on the other side of the restaurant. If youre in the area this really is a must stop even if you get the food to go.

This place used to be amazing. Now its just sketchy. Prices are higher every time we go. The manager woman is rude, constantly barking at the employees. The bathroom is disgusting, you can smell it from the front door. If you have a large party you have to wait outside. Which, if you like hanging out next to the homeless and degens from the laundry mat and head shop in the dark is great, but for a family, is not. The parking lot lights are almost all completely out, and this parking lot is known for theft. 100% sketch. Will not be going back.Update 3/7/23, returned for my daughters birthday. Parking lot is illuminated, service was prompt and very friendly. Food was pretty good. For some reason they are still serving tea in paper cups like we are in quarantine. Food was expensive, but really, what isnt these days. Bathroom was clean and freshly painted, unfortunately some degenerate tagged the fresh paint. Cranky manager lady is now working the sushi bar and didnt bark at anyone during our visit. Had Gluten free soy sauce too!

Amazing restraunt good sushi quality but I must say sitting in the hibachi I was impressed. Chefs all seemed good and made everyone happy! It was my sons birthday and he wants his next birthday here. I was surprised its not too busy but I enjoyed having much more attention provided for us then normal restraunts almost fells like a king in a castle will be going back to this hidden gem im sure.

When me and my family go we normally sit in the booths and order the hibachi however now if you want to order the hibachi you have to sit where they do the grill and my son is scared of the fire but the chef made him smile so for the most part he was ok however I dont like the wait time for the chef to get to our table and I really didnt like that they charged me $22.80 in taxes thats ridiculous really ridiculous!!!!!

Absolutely awesome food and service. I have eaten here 4 times now and had nothing but excellent experiences here. I highly recommend the Sashimi and nigiri special. My wife and child love it too. The fish is super fresh and the sushi rice had the perfect flavor and consistency. It always comes quickly and with a smile.

I liked the experience. Friendly staff, the chef was so nice. I would definitely go back. A bit pricey but its worth the amount of food given. They have two sections, one to dine in and enjoy the food brought to you. Or you can have the chef cook the food in front of you.

I liked the food. I am giving it 3 stars only because the waiter didnt seem to know the rolls. I requested a golden Philly roll (Deep fried Philadelphia Roll), currently I cannot eat raw fish, it came to the table raw, he looked confused when I asked for it to be deep fried, so I dont think he even put in the special request order. Everything else was good. I forgot the names of them already. I would come back for the hibachi experience, looking through the glass window gave me a little FOMO. 5 rolls and drinks came out to around $85 without the tip.

Went in for lunch:- waiter didnt know the difference between a tonkatsu ramen and a miso ramen. She assured me they were the same and brought me the one I didnt want.- ramen was plain, I had to pour half of the soy sauce bottle in it to get it close to edible. Eggs were overcooked (far from hanjuku). I even lost my spoon in the bowl because it didnt have the dent that prevents it from drowning and the bowl inconveniently shaped.- water tasted like chlorine- waiter didnt bring the check until I asked the front deskMaybe my expectations were too high (the price didnt help) but it seems there are too many things dysfunctional.

Wow!! I was so surprised when we walked into the door. Beautifully refurbished and plenty of room. Very clean and staff very friendly. We chose Habachi and was not disappointed. Well trained cooks friendly and entertaining. The food was above delicious, with plenty of left overs. Soup, salad, fried rice, noodles, vegetables, shrimp and our entree made for a delicious meal. Can accommodate large groups of up to 18 people. Our annual holiday gathering there was our last. Service was extra slow...well over an hour to eat. Then 40 minutes to pay. Other groups came, ate and left before we got our food. Very disappointing. Had to keep insisting that they serve us and even then it took that long.Their food is decent and a good show if youve never seen the hibachi. I cant eat their hibachi as their sauce either has msg or heavy sodium that prevented me from sleeping. Now can only select soups or other menu items not seasoned with hibachi sauces.

I had great service my host was on top of everything.But I did see two other tables that ordered before me and didnt get there dinner after I was half way through mine.Now about the food.I got the dinner box it has great portions but for me the Teriyaki sauce Seemed water down not much flavor, The chicken didnt seem to be cooked right and also not much flavor. I really appreciate this very unassuming restaurant at the end of a strip mall. Inside you find delicious options of various Japanese dishes. On the weekends and evenings sometimes they have a chef who cooks the food live like Benihana. This time, some in our party had the hibachi grill dishes while others had sushi rolls. All very good. If you are looking for a satisfying, exceptional meal, I highly recommend Fujiyama.

Everyone was nice, good service. Quality of food was ok. They tend to fill you up with rice and noodles. Small portions of steak and other eantras. I ordered steak had to share with three people and two of us ordered steak they cut everything up except shrimp. They gave or shrimp to other people who did not ordered shrimp.

I dont recommend sushi here.Warm fish, doesnt taste as fresh as other sushi restaurants in the area and small roll sizes. Rolls did not menu description online. Prices were $2 dollars extra from what was advertised online. Maybe I was looking at an outdated menu but the price was still not worth what I recieved. Check out Kokoros or Ikebana for higher quality sushi in Salinas.Their non-sushi food is delicious though and Ive had great experience in restaurant at a regular table or teppanyaki style seating.

I went here for lunch a few weeks back. Talk about dinner and a show! So much fun! The rice was some of the best I ever had. The filet mingon was to die for. The service was fast, friendly and entertaining. My only gripe is that the scallops were inedible. The cook on them was incorrect. They were rubbery and unpleasant so I left them alone. Other than that the lobster was great and I will definitely return!

Just had wifes birthday dinner here. Wait staff were attentive and polite. Cook was very entertaining and made our food perfectly. Took home enough for a second meal. I had the steak habachi, very tender. Wife had vegetables and tofu habachi. Tofu was incredible. Whole family enjoyed the experience. Enough food per serving that splitting would have been a good choice. Will be back for other special occasions.

One of the chefs was so rude to my husband. He threw him a huge piece of broccoli for him to catch with no warning. He then tried to make up for it by pouring more beer but instead poured it all over my husbands lap and my lap getting us all wet. Fabulous Japanese food! Clean restaurant. Went here for the soft shell crab tempura dinner and was not disappointed. Generous portions, ample sides (came with salad, soup and rice) and delicious. Weve been here several times since they opened and have not been disappointed with any of their food. The hibachi side of the restaurant is similar to a Benihana (or Sapporo in Monterey for that matter), but I think they give you a larger portion of food here. While many hibachi restaurants give you fried rice as part of your meal, Fujiyama goes a step further and also gives you a side of noodles, hibachi style.The dining room side of the restaurant is also very good; weve tried several dishes for both lunch and dinner and everything was very tasty, nicely plated, and reasonably priced for the amount of food served.

(Would do minus stars), Cooking ( Benihana Style) the open stove, the cook used a lot, I mean a lot of butter in the fried rice ( I have never used butter to cook oriental fried rice and vegetables) and vegetables, a whole lot of butter I never seen nothing like that or tasted food like that before we did not finish the meal it end soon after we started, matter of fact we gave it back to them and then I went to the store and bought some fresh ginger root and some unfiltered apple cider vinegar made some very hot tea with chamomile and drink it out of a large cup did the same thing the next morning.
