Stumbled upon this wonderful locals hangout one Sunday afternoon when we were craving some comfort food. And what an amazing find it was! Everything about this place made us feel comfortable. From the friendly atmosphere to the old-timey bowling alley- I just felt like I belonged there and everybody was family. The coffee shop attached to the bowling alley served incredible Hawaiian food and the variety of items on that menu just made my soul dance from excitement! I can’t wait to go back with my friends and share how wonderful this place is!

I would have never guessed that this hawaiian gem is inside the bowling alley. This place really takes me back to the cafes in hawaii, with traditional hawaiian and japanese inspired dishes. Love the morning service and staff and was Pleasantly surprised that there was a spanish speaking server and a japanese speaking server that Both welcomed our family with up most hospitality. Would definitely come again, and would recommend for homestyle hawaiian-japanese breakfast. Cant wait to try the rest of their menu. The hawaiian french toast & pancakes were the best 🔥🔥

This is the place we always think of when we are hungry. Its located inside Gardena Bowl (bowling alley). Large portion and delicious! Their food is Hawaiian, Asian, American with a lot of varieties on the menu. I love their bacon fried rice, tempura, saimin noodle and pancakes.

This spot is institution status, more than 30 years! The Portuguese sausage is my guilty pleasure, I make sure I get it in at least 2x a year. I forget how good it is when I return. Excellent service and food period!

Juan the manager was great to work with, but Sam the owner was incredibly rude. He said reservations aren’t something they do, but he does reserve for his “regulars.” We were ready to spend lots of money for my friend’s birthday after being promised this was first-come-first-serve bowling, but Sam completely reneged on that. Ruined my friend’s birthday and lost a lot of business. Absolutely would not recommend.

The waitress is horrible to me every time I come in here to eat. She messes up my meal everytime. Have no idea I order the same thing every time and she makes sure she gets it wrong. I bowl here on the bowling league so I eat here before I bowl. She has a very nasty attitude for totally no reason. Really needs to be replaced. The food here is amazing the atmosphere is nice and calming to have lunch. Always busy.

As David Chang has noted, you wouldn’t expect such bomb food in a bowling alley, but lo and behold, Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop exists. Came here on a Monday evening with two other friends around 6:30pm and the parking lot was already full. There is street parking available. The restaurant is unassuming but the food is delicious and portions are generous. Credit cards are accepted. You order at the counter first and then sit down. Indoor dining only. Takeout is also available.I got the Hawaiian Royal, which everyone seems to get for their first visit. It’s on the sweeter side (which is good for me) and very filling - I had a very hearty lunch the next day. My friends got the loco moco and garlic chicken respectively, and both liked their food a lot. The garlic chicken in particular has good flavor and comes with rice, mac salad, and broccoli. The employees were nice and everyone eating there seemed to be a local. Overall, it’s got hole-in-the-wall vibes, but you won’t regret coming here.

A friend of mine booked a reservation for four lanes for her birthday a week in advance. The manager confirmed this reservation at the time of booking. The day of her birthday, with more than 40 people already invited for her party, the owner called and cancelled with no explanation. There is no form of making a reservation for bowling lanes, and the management is incapable of proper communication to patrons

Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop is my go place for a solid meal and more then a fair price. When you walk in youre greeted and are treated like family. The portions are HUGE! The menu is fantastic and I highly recommend the Loco Moco.The staff are always have a smile on their face and offer first class service.Stop by and give their coffee shop a try!

This is a good place for Japanese, American, Hawaiian food oddly enought. They are generous with their portions, the food so far has very tasty and satisfying.It is an older place and definitely a local hangout. The prices are resonable compared to the amount of food they give you, and if you over eat, well there you are, in a bowling alley so play a game or two to work off the loco moco!!

The food is bland. Had to add salt and pepper to my omelette and breakfast potatoes. I tried the rice and gravy and it tasted like melted plastic for some reason. My sister and I have been wanting to come here for a while now. We finally did and Frankie took great care of us!We started with the miso soup and hot green tea. I meant to take of pic of the soup but ate it too fast! The soup was good. A little sweet with noodles and green onions. No tofu. A nice variation and delicious.Thanks to Frankies suggestion we tried the garlic chicken which was delicious. I upgraded to the kimchee bacon fried rice which was awesome. We also tried the miso Salmon which was flavorful. Sides of broccoli and potato salad with the chicken and broccoli and seaweed salad took me back to the days of eating with my grandmother.Comfort food amazingness with great service.Sorry for the partially eaten food pics. We were so eager to try the dishes I forgot to take the pictures first!

Love this Hawaiian style coffee shop. My family has been coming here for years now! Its a great little local joint attached to a bowling alley. Definitely recommend trying it! Today we got the bacon fried rice, saimin, and corn beef hash and eggs. I also like their oxtail soup!

A Hidden Gem! Truly amazing how hidden and delicious it is. I came on A Monday around lunchtime, the place was buzzing. The menu has a variety of Hawaiian and Asian foods. I heard all kinds of great stories about the food here and they are all true. My wife and I had the Sweet & Sour Short Ribs Special that came with 2 Scoops of White Rice and Potato Mac Salad. Sweet & Sour Short Ribs were fall off the bone tender and the sauce was more sweet than sour and very delicious. We also had the Cha Shu Pork Plate with Bacon Fried Rice instead of White Rice. A much better upgrade. Cha Shu was very tender and full of flavor with a side of hot mustard made it so good. Big mountain of Bacon Fried Rice made this fabulous meal too big for just one person to enjoy. USA 🇺🇸 (Hawaii)Eat the World LA review:Besides Gardena and surrounding areas being home to many Hawaiians in Los Angeles, the image of a yellow hibiscus is the only clue that the food inside the coffee shop will include some Hawaiian specials. This species is the states official flower and used often around the islands as a source of pride.Even if this cute diner inside of Gardena Bowl did not offer a loco moco or Kings Hawaiian bread, it would still be a fun place to come for breakfast. In fact, most customers were sticking with greasy spoon favorites paired with their coffee. The interior of the diner is what you think it might look like based on the 70s imagery from the bowling alleys sign above, a place that probably maxes out at 30 people when at capacity with booths lining two sides of the room.

I grew up in Southern California, and never knew about this place until visiting from TX this time... a coffee shop in a bowling alley that specializes in Hawaiian and Japanese food!?I had the moco loco with Portuguese sausage, and oh my waistline was it good! Others at the table had moco loco with chicken katsu, Hawaiian French toast, chashu saimin, and garlic chicken, and we shared spam musubi. Foods here has a very good and deep umami flavor. Service is normal do not expect high quality service but you can eat in peace. The place is a little small and a little old and dated. They havent upgraded or rearrainge the place its an old food cafe style and thats what you get. Its an old place but there is a reason they are still there. The big caviat is that do not expect cheap food. Its in the middle 10-20 per meal.

Hands down the best Hawaiian food in Los Angeles. I have tried a few things on the menu and everything has been absolutely delicious. This is one of those places that is like if you dont know about it you would just drive by. Its in a bowling alley and for me when I think bowling alley food I think roller hot dogs and greasy burgers. But this place is the polar opposite good delicious food with a huge menu selection. 2pm late lunch on Monday, a friend drove me to her diner in the bowling place in her hood as a child. One young man show. He rocked it. Took phone orders, sat customers, took table orders, served the food and bussed tables etc...all in a decent mood. Not once was he rude to anyone nor crabby during this rush. If you want delicious Asian/Hawaiian food, this is the spot. I had the breakfast with their homemade Portuguese sausage and I devoured it. My bestie had the bacon 🥓 fried rice and she said it was delicious. She also ordered the garlic fried chicken which was cooked in karaage style. She said it was crispy and very juicy. Will be having breakfast and lunch here, so far ordered corned beef hash and yes it was homemade patties 2 eggs and 2 scoop rice 4 1/2 star breakfast little expensive but average for gardena 12 bucks like da other local place here in gardena. Ordered the combo fried rice to take out it wasnt as tasty as the last time the meat wasnt as much as the last time I was here and it didnt come with mustard and the drizzled sauce and green onions so gotta give um 4 stars for that and kinda pricey at 15+ bucks. Maybe its da cooks that made the difference. Anyways, da food was ok and had good amount just a bit pricey. Next time Ill order garlic chicken or a meat dish then maybe bring the review up. I had to check this place out for myself. Several times Ive been told that this place was good. But the people who told me this had never been there themselves. They were repeating what someone else had told them. So I took my family there to find out for ourselves. This place is a hidden gem. They have a variety of food but specializes in Hawaiian Food. It was delicious! The portions are huge. We ordered the Chinese chicken salad, Garlic chicken, and the noodle soup ( I forget the name of the soup). The flavors were so good. The waitress was so helpful and patient. She walked us through the menu. It was a great experience.

Service is friendly and dont keep you waiting. The food is not at all what youd expect for a place connected to a bowling alley. The menu is unusually diverse with Hawaiian and Japanese food alongside all the normal stuff like Burgers and Salads. I would argue the Hawaiian food easily shines through as the best I personally love the teriyaki beef with eggs. My family loves the Oxtail soup and the BLT sandwiches. The price is right and for the quality of food it is a no brainer if the family is feeling like take out.

Best Hawaiian food on this side of the Pacific Ocean. There are several quality Hawaiian food joints around the South Bay, and this is the closest to a restaurant you might see on Kapahulu, down the street from Leonards. Ive noticed that lots of Hawaii expats tend to agree.The saimin, loco moco, kalua pig, and teriyaki beef skewers are all big winners - but really, the whole menu is pretty stellar. Ive heard the oxtail soup is also killer. Portions are very generous, and prices are reasonable.The service is diner style. I love the food here. It is delicious. Everything from the breakfast items (served all day), especially the Portuguese Sausage (which is their own recipe and its a patty type sausage not like a hot dog) and eggs and the Hawaiian Royale (a rice dish with eggs, portugese sausage, char siu, sauce, kind of like a fried rice but not). It was me and my wifes first time here, upon seeing it on Netflixs Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We tried and loved their miso soup, the standard beef patty Loco Moco (the patties are made in-house), a side of Garlic Chicken, Hawaiian Royal, and a Portuguese Sausage patty on the side.The miso soup was tasty, consisting of plenty of chopped scallions, noodles, and perfect dashi stock.The 2 patties on the Loco Moco were huge and perfectly char-broiled. They actually have 4 types of protein for their Loco Moco to chose from: beef patty, Portuguese sausage patty, Kalua, and Katsu chicken patty. The side of the Portuguese patty was delicious with a slight kick of spice, but trumped in size compared to its beef alternative.The Hawaiian Royal is a generously served dish of steamed rice beneath chunks of Portuguese sausage, Chashu (the reddish BBQ pork), chopped green onions & eggs drizzled with Teriyaki Sauce. The dish was my favorite of the four, which worked out in my favor given the abundance of each ingredient in it. It can easily be shared amongst two to three people.

The combination was supposed to come with green tea and miso soup - had to remind the server. My husband ordered the char shu wonton we watched in horror as it went to another customer and she had to tell them it was not hers then it went back to the ready area for a couple of minutes while the 2 wait persons tried to figure out who it belonged to.
