Food was great! Service was good. Seems to be family owned and operated. Not really welcoming/inviting, but not rude at all. Just kinda matter of fact. Again the food was really good, give it a try, Im sure youll enjoy it.

Stopped here on our drive from SFO to Pinnacles NP. We obviously wanted garlic so we did it up. Garlic soup, garlic city burger, garlic fries. Would order it all again. The garlic soup is more complex and subtle than it sounds. The burger comes with whole cloves of garlic, and the chopped garlic is heaped on the fries. Exactly what we wanted.

Honestly was a bit disappointed at this place. I came to Gilroy looking for a very garlic heavy meal....and to be honest the food lacked garlic flavor.My wife and I ordered a chicken sandwich and the garlic burger with garlic fries but the burger was dry, the fries had little garlic, and the chicken sandwich was only okay.The server was also a bit rude when we asked for extra utensils which wasnt exactly helpful.Will definitely not recommend coming here or to others.

My husband ordered the Rebel Burger and I tried the Garlic chicken and eggplant panini. My husband really like the burger. The panini was really good but it would have been better if it was sun dried tomatoes instead of fresh tomatoes. We will definitely be back to try their breakfast menu.

What a great little cafe. Loved every bite of our meal. The fried artichoke covered with minced garlic was crispy outside and moist inside with great flavors. The sage chicken with mushrooms sauce was the bomb. Well balanced flavors and delicious. I licked the plate clean. The spaghetti bolognese was also very good. Oh and the bowl of clam chowder that came with the dinner meal was also licked clean. This is one of those places that you can taste the chef’s passion for his craft. Portions are generous and price is reasonable. Place feels like a small family restaurant but food is awesome. We want to come back for many of their other dishes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars)!

The food is delicious, the garlic soup sounds nasty, but oh no!, its very good, lick my lips. I usually lick my lips for another thing, but Im rating this restaurant at this time. Service however needs to shift into 2nd or even 3rd gear. But I will be back. So try it yourself and you wont be disappointed with the food

Their meals were all right. Customer service was decent and the waiter was attentive. The meals were decent but their garlic soup was plain and somewhat salty. Now the Shrimp Alfredo pasta and wraps were okay. Not the best I have tasted, but overall good meal.

On our way traveling past Gilroy, we decided to sample their famed garlic at some local establishment. Garlic City Cafe proudly proclaims the theme in its name, so we headed there for lunch.Unfortunately, we all found our meals rather lacking. I ordered a Crab Melt Sandwich with their homemade Cream of Garlic soup on the side, my husband got a Calamari Steak Sandwich with a side of Garlic Fries ($1.50 extra to the meal cost), and several of our friends ordered the Garlic City Burger. Each entrée came with two slices of watermelon, which were a nice addition.Crab Melt Sandwich - this was just alright. The crab cake was nothing to write home about and in general, the flavors were mild and not standout. I wouldnt order this again.Calamari Steak Sandwich - this was REALLY bizarre. Somehow, the calamari was sliced into a thin steak shape and sandwiched along with some lettuce and tomatoes, all seasoned with chipotle mayo. The textures really did NOT work well- namely, the wet squish of the calamari with the bright tomatoes and crisp lettuces... it was just all a bit of a confused mess. Do NOT get this, unless they change how they make it in the future...Cream of Garlic Soup - this was really strong, and not in an appetizing way. It has herbs and potatoes in it (as well as some penne pasta, for some odd reason), which is fine, but the overall effect was just overwhelmingly garlic-musk-heavy. My husband LOVES garlic as a general rule, and even he thought this was funky and didnt like it. :(Garlic Fries - these were pretty meh. Crinkle-cut fries (which could easily have been frozen before) sprinkled with a mix of garlic and herbs. It was pretty bland tasting and the textures werent standout, either.Garlic City Burger - the garlic component of this dish is just a few cloves of roasted garlic plopped onto a fairly thin charbroiled patty. One of our friends ordered it medium while the others ordered medium-rare, and none of them could see a difference between their patties (i.e. all of them were pretty darn cooked through). The rest of the dish is pretty simple with some slices of cheese, lettuce, and tomato. It overall felt like a bit of a disappointment given the price tag (I could have easily made this at home).That said, a couple of our friends were fans of the Strawberry & Banana smoothie (one of them curiously reported seeing the owners throw some tangerines into the mix) and declared that this ended up being their favorite part of the meal. One of my friends ordered a Chicken & Prawns Fettuccine and was the only one who seemed to thoroughly appreciate her entrée.Additionally, our receipt was incomprehensible. The itemized list had everything listed strangely as Item A (or something like this) all the way down. There were over a dozen lines of Item A! It was impossible to tell who had ordered what (for the purposes of splitting the bill).Whereas this café provides good portion sizes and fresh ingredients, their cooking (textures and flavors) could use some serious work. Also, although we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time (it was a late lunch for us), some of us had to ask for water 4 times before it arrived. I would not recommend coming here, given other options.While researching places to try, I had noticed multiple BBQ joints in the area. I would personally look into a meal at one of those instead, if given another day around Gilroy.

The girl who was working that day was very attentive and professional. So I can definitely say the service is very good. The food that I ordered was the shrimp pasta 😋. And sausage lentil soup . I added extra garlic on my pasta dish 😋. It was all so delicious. I wish my mouth was bigger. I dont usually get to go to Gilroy so Im happy to go to this restaurant because I will always remember how delicious it was. High Fives 🤚

Food was delicious!Had the spaghetti, chicken and eggplant panini (great on its own, but level up with side of ranch), and shrimp and chicken alfredo, garlic fries (make sure to ask for dip, otherwise, it’s pretty dry). Yums!Could use more garlic on all dishes though, but I normally eat raw garlic. Would definitely come here again and ask for more garlic!

Looking to take pops out to lunch today, I broke out the ol Yelp app and found this place.We got there at 11:15, found a handicap parking space right across the street, and was able to get seated right away at one of the three tables outside with umbrellas. “The outside temp was a Beautiful 75° with a slight breeze just wonderful”The Waitress took our order right away I opted for the El Paso burger “med rare” that comes with cheese, bacon, Ortega chiles, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pineapple and avocado. I added the garlic fries for an extra $1.50. Pops got the cowboy steak that comes with wedge cut fries, salsa, two slices of bread, and butter, two eggs of your choice, and pineapple.We waited almost an hour to get our food but when it arrived we were served 2 stunning dishes.(Pro tip) if you want your food fast don’t come here, McDonald’s is down the street. But if you want a Delicious meal then it’s definitely worth the waitBurger: oh my gosh, so many subtle flavor, Tex-Mex meets Mexico meets Gilroy meets the USA.The first bite came in at so many levels. 1st the taste of The perfectly cooked medium rare burger, and a hint of salt, then the sweetness of the Ortega chili melded with the perfectly crisp bacon. Honestly there was nothing in this burger that stood out it was just so beautifully put together in its flavors. 5 starsGarlic fries: oh yah baby these are the real deal, with chunks of minced garlic the garlic flavor shined through. “Garlic lovers this is a must”4 stars.The cowboy steak: pops liked it but for him it was a little spicy, the steak comes smothered with salsa.Bottom line: this is a book mark place for everyone to enjoy.

I work close by and tend to order takeout from this restaurant about once a week. I find myself craving it! Its family owned and operated and the food is always delicious. Large portions for the price as well. They tend to have to go orders ready within 15 mins, 20 -25 if really busy. My favorite dish is the Italian Chicken Sandwich with Garlic fries. It comes with a grilled red bell pepper and a sun dried tomato pesto, along with the fresh, crisp produce and melted mozzarella cheese on a fresh french roll - its to die for. The best chicken sandwich in the area!

Roasted garlic appetizer was delicious. The chicken noodle soup was flavorful full of chicken, noodles, and vegetables. The salad was cold, crispy. The pan roasted salmon was so good and the risotto was a good creamy texture with freshly roasted vegetables. Chicken coq a vin was tender and served with the risotto and vegetables. The pear Gorgonzola pasta was unbelievably good. And fresh made carrot cake was shared by all three of us for dessert. Yum, and now we are so full with leftovers coming home.

Unfortunately we really wanted to eat here, we ordered and waited 50 minutes, still no food, the restaurant wasn’t even full, both waitress ignored us, food looked good on other tables but the combination of waiting 50min and being ignored by the servers was disappointing. This is simply the best food in Gilroy. I do not say that lightly, as we have many excellent restaurants. But if you appreciate thoughtful, well-prepared dishes (down to the garnish) that are packed with FLAVOR… and if you can suffer through excellent service and reasonable prices… this is the restaurant for you. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and have never wished that I’d gone elsewhere or ordered a different dish.

Absolutely loved this place. The food was amazing and the service was great. We went right before they were supposed to close, we were from out of town and didnt know their hours, and they stayed open for us. My little one has food allergies and they accommodated his meal, which is not done at many places. If ever back in town will definitely stop by to eat there again.

I would do take out. The food is sooooooooo good! I have loved everything Ive gotten but it will take you 45 to an hour to get your food.Im always impressed with the fruit selection and my entree. Ive been for both breakfast and lunch. It would be a fun place to sit and catch up with an old friend as long as youre not starved.Dont bring your small children unless they can stay entertained for that long.It is a very casual cafe.

I was looking for some where to eat dinner so I googled restaurants. Garlic City Cafe looked interesting. The waitress was very attentive. I ordered the fried artichoke with chipotle sauce and it was delicious it also had garlic on top. I also ordered the creamy pesto ravioli and that was delicious too. I ordered way too much because my eyes were bigger than my stomach, because I also ordered the chocolate torte it was the perfect amount of sweet. I think this is a local joint so show support to the small business, you wont be disappointed. If you go around the corner if there isnt parking in the front there is back parking lot.

Stopped in for breakfast and it was a delightful experience. Some of the best omelets topped with a delicious hollandaise sauce and cooked perfectly without too much grease.On the side they gave you the option of toast, pancakes, or French toast which was a bonus.Good sized portions and good quality ingredients. The amount of crab in the Cancun omelet would have easily doubled the price in any other place.Looking around the sandwiches looked fantastic and Im glad we made the drive from San Jose!

The portion sizes were generous. The quality of each sandwich we ordered was nice. I suggest paying the extra $1.50 for garlic fries as your side dish. The fried garlic chips and chives they use heightened the flavor. I also liked how the fries werent overly greasy and stayed extra crispy. Pricing is very fair per dish. Really dont waste your time coming here! Everyone is rude, the wait is long, they overcharge, theyll give you the wrong food AND the watterss tried to argue to me about it.I asked the waitress for recommendations and she just mumbled I dont give recommendations because everyones always unhappy about it. The second guy I asked said he loved all pastas...so took me some time to choose.When I was ready to choose I said I wanted the rigatoni pasta to the guys there and they said to wait for the waitress. The waitress took my order, I said rigatoni and pointed at the bottom of the menu and asked for the garlic soup because it comes with the pasta.She charged me $18 for the pasta but it says $17 on the menu. Also charged me $2 extra for the garlic creams soup even though it costs the same as the other soup? Whatever I just wanted to order to go and leave.After waiting 30 minutes to pay I get my food and leave and have to come back because they got my order wrong! I know the guy checked too and he kept asking me if I ordered the rigatoni and looked at the food and didnt say anything. This is the second time Ive been here, the first being several years ago. I got the Tuscany omelet and it was the best breakfast Ive had in a LONG time. I am sorry. I have lived in Gilroy off and on for 11-years and have been in the Gilroy/Morgan Hill area for nearly 37 years. This place has never impressed me. I want to like it so bad so that I can help support downtown businesses, but I just can come to grips with this place. Many out of towners rave about this place, but I am always disappointed when I get the courage to go back. I just do not care for any of the food hear.

All details on Google, website, and door show open till 9pm. Its a Saturday night and a very large car/bike show is going on out front. They had several guests in the restaurant. We walked in shortly after 7pm and was told they were not open and closed at 7. Disappointed

Who would have thought gilroy only has one establishment geared toward serving garlic specialties outside of the annual festival? We were hopeful to eat here after hearing so many positive things. This restaurant is open only Sunday. We determined this according to the sign in their window on the Saturday we were in town closed Tues-Friday, and Saturday: closed.Perhaps theyre closed in preparation for the festival next week...anyhow, I guess we were surprised there were exactly zero other dining choices relating to garlic (theme parks arent our thing), despite Gilroy being the garlic capital of the world.

I really enjoy coming to this place with my husband and daughter. The staff are family friendly and always welcoming. The food is amazing and Im not just saying that for kicks. This place is really great.

If possible, call ahead. Service is always very slow. Could be 1 person in there or a group of 15. Its always slow.BUT...the cream of garlic soup is worth it. Its a shame Gilroy doesnt have a signature restaurant that focuses on garlic. This is as close as theyve gotten.Trust me, try the soup.

Food very good, always is. Good selection on menu. Service good but a little slow. No air-conditioning so on a warm day it is a little hot and stuffy. No liquor licence.

Food was good but we waited 45 minutes for our food. We asked the server twice to check on our order, response waiting for fries. We watched people seated after us get their orders WITH FRIES.

The food has never disappointed us. A nice secret is that they are in collaboration with the Wine Bar a block north from them. You can order your food from Gilroy Cafe and sip on some amazing wines at the wine bar.

Great food and a very deep menu. The pastrami sandwich is NOT your usual NY Reuben. Rather it has mozzarella cheese and pepperoncini and mustard. Yum!

Wait staff was a little forgetful, and chair was sticky. Garlic burger was good, garlic fries are good, the Tuna Melt was epic, smoothies are legit, Cuban is really good, Garlic soup is good, French dip is really good.

Mom and Pop. Servers and hostesses are very kind and attentive, but the food wasnt the best and the ambience wasnt impressive. Still, there were a lot of families on Sunday morning, so it seems to be a popular local spot.

Terrible service. We were waiting for more than 25 min. for our order and the waitress didnt even remember if she placed our order (she didnt). The other waitstaff were arrogant. Nobody even noticed wed been waiting; they acted like they were doing us a favor . We walked out.

Worst costumer service ...waited 30 minutes for my order,and turns out the waitress forgot the order. If you do go beware of the waitress ( shes the old one with blonde hair) super slow and grumpy.

Love this place! The food is fantastic. Its a bit of a hole in the wall but you will be happy if you stop here for a meal.
