Omelet is good. And the meal size is good enough for woman. Panini is OK, pretty common one. If you want to have a early morning breakfast here it will be a good option. No much service here.

I loved Gateway’s breakfast: fried chicken or pork with garlic fried rice, a fried egg & side of pineapple. I’ve moved thousands of miles away and it’s been years, but it’s one dish that I love and can’t get its true cousin anywhere near me. It was the garlicky rice that made it!

A mission st staple! have been going here since i was a kid and i love the consistency in quality. Prices have gone up with inflation but still probably one of the cheapest meals you can find in the area at this quality. I love getting the ticino or the hk style fried pork shop. Service is usually fast and friendly

I first went here in the early 90s. Was cheap back then and is still cheap to todays prices. Had the chops and calamari plate. Calamari was a little salty this time around but still good. Basically around $6.40 a plate with your choice of meat, comes with an egg and garlic rice and some chunks of pineapples.

Between the HK Pork Chop and the fried chicken rice plate, the HK Pork Chop wins hands down. The pork chop itself is tasty and the price tag of $7 is what makes it a value deal in 2023. You arent coming for the service, as this is a pick up order spot, youre here for a tasty meal at a really good price.

I stopped by Gateway Kitchen to get something to-go a couple of days ago while passing through Daly City. It is located on Mission which like every other street in Daly City has almost zero parking so your best bet is to park in the lot at Mission & Bepler and walk. During the peak lunch hour, it seemed to be about half full. After going through the menu I decided to get the Beef Tapsilog ($3.45) to-go. What immediately struck me was this was literally dirt cheap so I was a little skeptical about the quality. After ordering I was out in less than 2 minutes which means nothing was made fresh.I was expecting an extremely low quality dish but what I got was not bad. I would say at-best average. The rice was not over steamed but you could make out that it was of low quality. The egg had turned into a big blob, probably as it has been fried and then made to sit. The Tapa (beef) was not chewy which means that it was well marinated, but unfortunately it was bone dry. Just having some of its natural juices present would make this dish so much better.Price wise it was cheap even for Filipino restaurant standards. It becomes difficult to rate such a place because the quality is definitely low but so is the price. Honestly I would prefer to spend a couple of more bucks and get a decent silog rather than return here, but if you are on a budget this place would be spot on so Ill be a little generous with my rating.

Extremely fast service: about 2 minutes from order to having the food. Reasonable prices: paid $4.50 for pork tocino and a fried egg. The meal included garlic rice. The reason this was 4/5 was because it was pretty chilly inside. I just kept my coat on, and it was tolerable.

I remember eating here when I was about 12 years old and I thought the food was the best Filipino food Ive ever tasted in my life 15 years later I come back and the food is still one of the best Filipino foods Ive ever tasted. Masarap na Mura pa! (Delicious and Cheap). This has been my first Bay area meal when I visited years ago and 10 years after, it is still a go to for us. Hong Kong Style Porkchop is a favorite which goves you two big slices of pork chop, an egg, pineapple and generous serving of garlic rice! As it is a small place, buying it to go is recommended.

This is one of the best places to go for a filling breakfast or a hangover. Cash only. You can ask for extra fried garlic if youre into that. My go to is the HK fried pork chop. Its pounded thin and large comes out super crispy right out the fryer. Theres no dining in so I just take it to my car and go to town on it.

Ordered the longanisa & 1/4 chicken. The longanisa was awesome, Id order it again. The chicken had a nice crisp exterior but it was awfully dry for dark meat. I liked the garlic fried rice. The value is excellent and service was prompt and friendly. Id go back.

Must protect at all costs. I’ve been going here since I was a child and the prices haven’t gone up that much. They have the best Filipino breakfast rice plates (silogs) and my favorite is the longanisa (pork sausage) and tocino (pork belly) combo. Another favorite is the HK style pork chop which is a thin pork chop breaded and deep fried. Their garlic fried rice is the best, especially with a splash of vinegar. Tip well my friends! 😋

This is THE GO-TO spot for a hangover. This cheap, delicious, simple meal will soak up all the alcohol, trust me. Every meal is under $5 - you cant beat that! You can order for pick-up (better and faster if you call your order in) or you can sit down and eat. Everything was great.

Cheap and tasty food. I dont know where you can get a fulfilling meal for under 5 bucks (may have increased since). If you plan to dine in... Bundle up a bit, its quite chilly in there... Unless its super hot outside (rarely). Family ran, super friendly.

All The reviews have to be fake.. stopped here for breakfast and this is by far the worst I’ve ever had. Half the plate is rice and it’s dry and just overall not very tasty. Breakfast were better but super greasy. And it came out in like 2 minutes. Everything was cold as if it was sitting for a while.

Been coming to this place since iwas about 16 years old, and now pushing 41 the only thing that has chaged is the price. I usually go to superstar to get fillipino breakfast, but if u want hk porkchops this is the the only place to go i.m.h.o. The only downside - its in daly city. Watch out for police w/nothing to do they will pull u over for no reason.....

Hongkong style porkchops!!!OMG, it is so good! Its a hole in the wall place but you see a lot of people picking up to go orders and they order a lot. I usually order the HK style pork chops and a serving can feed 2 for only around $4. A serving comes with an egg, plenty of garlic rice, maybe 2 cups or more, and two big slices of batter dipped and fried pork chop goodness!They also have other selection like fried chicken, marinated or smoked fish, sausages, and filipino cured meat.

Ive only had Filipino a handful of times before (if you dont count the more than handful of times Ive had adobo), so I dont really have a baseline for what constitutes good or authentic Filipino food. That said, Ive been told from friends much more familiar with it that its, well, basically what Gateway serves: heavily seasoned, sweet, salty, greasy, meaty dishes.Doesnt sound particularly appetizing? Well, it wasnt bad, but I feel like the high ratings given here are for similar reasons to the ones given at places like HRD in SF: for the price, youre getting a TON of food. So, more for value and quantity than quality.My friend and I ordered their tocino and longanisa plates, and while they werent particularly impressive or offsetting, I cant say I was a huge fan of how sweet and greasy everything was. And the fact that the food came out lukewarm.Could I see myself coming back again? Maybe. If I did, itd definitely be as a to-go order, so I could take it home and remake with some more salt, spice, and, most importantly, heat. Because hot food should be eaten hot.***Accessibility Info***Venue - This restaurant is definitely on the tinier side, so when things get busy, youll find yourself a little cramped for space while ordering. Be nice to them and they will always deliver filling asian soul food right in the feels man. Gateway Kitchen provides afforadable home cooked food, that is as therapuetic as it is delicious. The garlic rice topped with toasted garlic, is always perfectly cooked and savory. One of the two best cheap silog (egg and garlic rice plate) breakfast spots in the city. Big fried chicken leg or a huge fried milkfish with garlic fried rice and tomatoes for $3-$4? Ridiculous! I must say tho, the Hong Kong Style Pork Chopsilog is theee best. I dont think you can really go wrong with anythere here. Just come with an empty stomach. I honestly never can finish any of it. The plates are cheap and really filing. It aint healthy, but who cares. If youre health nut, dont go here. Easy and simple.
