First of all, the service here is always amazing. We had a server today, dont catch her name but she was super nice and made dining in even better. Best pizza Ive ever had! Other pizza places Ive been to never fill me up but with just 2 slices here Im satisfied! You never have to worry about not getting enough cheese on your pizza and the taste is super good! They also have delicious ranch! Ill be going here for pizza often! Tried their boneless wings too and were also great!

Short stop for the late lunch. My son had Maui special pizza. Fast and friendly service. The place gives you a unique feeling of immersion in history, takes you 50-100 years back.Bwt. Pizza was very good!

First time here. Looks to be an old time Italian/pizza parlor. Pizzas looked good and smelled better. We had pasta dishes and those also looked and smelled wonderful.Not too expensive and very family orientated.Addendum:Went back a few months later. Still havent tried the pizza. Pasta is too good.The only bummer, the server assigned to us was not very attentive. Served salad and meal together. Never came back after throwing the food on the table. Just our server was not so hot. The other server in the area had twice as many tables and she was around 10 times more.

Very disappointing! Horrible experience. We were 9 of us and went in with kids as well and turned out to be a bad meal for all. We waited for 1.5 hours for our entree to arrive, and appetizers were served so cold after 45mins of ordering. The taste was not good at all especially the marinara sauce was like tomato soup and veggie pizza was so bad. We spent a lot but ended up getting back still hungry. Dessert was not good too. I really wish things had turned out to be the way some good reviews speak about. Overall, it was a waste of time and disappointing experience for us. One good thing was the warm attitude of the staff and fresh baked garlic bread.

Went here for my 44th birthday. The food was pretty good. The meatballs especially. Although it went right through me. Lol. The service was nothing to speak about other than in a public review fashion. The inside was louder than I care for but thats a matter of personal taste. As we left I noticed the outside seating area, how quite it was and the great ambiance. I would definitely suggest sitting outside opposed to inside, that may help the staff seem more personable not having to yell over all of the noise .

Service was okay...let me explain, when guests are seated you should drop off the drink menu with the food menu. Also, due to the fact we had our appetizer bought and left without napkins, utensils or plates. My wife got up and set out to find and bring them back with her. Now he (our server) was very polite and attentive which I appreciate.The pizza was a B- due to a little bit of liquid pooling in the middle under the center making it a little soggy.The ingredients were fresh. We tried a half pepperoni with BBQ chicken as well as a Franks Special (no mushrooms) not a fan of fungus.

I ordered Veg pizza and went to pick it up. For some reason, the waitress couldn’t see me standing right in front of her and very patiently spoke to a few people who had walked in after me and were waiting behind me. I said excuse me but she couldn’t hear me above the noise and continued to attend to the next couple who walked in with their pet.I asked her, a bit louder now, if she could see me in the line or if I had gone invisible. Thank God she could see (and hear) me this time!Oh, and pizza was good btw. Wish I could say the same about the service.

0 of 3 kids liked the pizza. Salad was fresh, but the cheese was just American Kraft slices cut up. Not even real cheese on the salad. Service was awful. Probably not enough workers, but the attitude of our server was not friendly as well. My family will it visit again.

The only thing that came fast was the check. Waited almost an hour for one medium pizza, and sat for over twenty minutes with empty drinks before getting a refill. Service was super slow. Pizza was good, but not exceptional. Toppings were fresh and plentiful, and it was well cooked, but the service and wait would make me hesitate to come again.

Wifes coworker recommended this place. I liked everything I ate, the bone less wings and the fried zucchini were on point! Pizza was better than your typical chain pizzerias. My wife and her cousin didnt enjoy the pizza as much, probably didnt live up to the hype. But overall a good experience.

My friend Michelle and her partner Brenden said this was a traditional to go to Gay 90s Pizza after the Scottish Festival. So yesterday we were inaugurated to delicious food. This was their 4th year at the festival. Best service far according to them. Our waitress was kind and checked in with us.The pizza was absolutely delicious. For even better pizza It could have used 5 more mins in the oven to get crust baked all the way through and crunchy roasted cheese!!Bread was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. It was so flavorful by itself. The bottom of the crust is good. It’s kind like a marriage of deep dish with Sicilian thin crust.Besides the toppings tasted fresh and the sausage was especially good. This kind of food would make an Italian cry.Saying the pizza was disappointing would be an understatement. Bland, doughy, and uninspired would be the first words that come to mind after the first taste.The pasta was completely drowned in sauce. It was a soup, not a pasta. Maybe they should do a word replacement on their menu to replace “pasta” with soup.No service to speak of.

We came here for dinner and ordered Wayne’s World pizza. It took very long to get our food to our table, but it tasted very good!The aesthetic was very nice. It was very nice, though it was noisy and had no music whatsoever. The designs on the walls and the tables were unique and interesting, and it gave off great vibes.Overall, a great restaurant. The only reason it is not five stars was that we had to wait for a long time. I would recommend this restaurant to people who are willing to wait for good food. A nice atmosphere overall, and very much recommended!

I came here with a large group and they accommodated us beautifully. 18 people and 5 pizzas later, we couldnt be happier. The operations manager Connor gave a detailed and engaging presentation and we learned so much about the pizza business! But most importantly, the pizza was amazing!! Ive lived in Pleasanton for years and have no idea why this was my first time here! The BBQ chicken pizza was my absolute favorite but the artichoke veggie and cheese pizzas were amazing too. The frank special was a favorite too.. it was devoured before I got a bite! We loved our experience and I have been craving their BBQ chicken pizza ever since. I will definitely return. Its a favorite for locals who are loyal to the historic location and its a P-Town staple. The decor is fun and I love the pub feel.

Bbk chk pizza had no onions on it and very light sauce could not eat it. I love pizza, so does my family but a couple nights ago we despised it. I ordered half bbk chk half chz so my family could split a $40 dollar pizza, 1 pizza, just to get home and nobody would eat it. Chk was dry, just chk and bbk sauce definitely needs something else on it besides chz. Please replace the pizza I bought and my family could not eat thank u!

Pizza was OK nothing special. Lasagna wasnt bad. When my buddy and I paid we were told the card machine was having an issue and asked if we had cash. But we both looked and we were charged. We told the waitress and all was good. BUT then she came back and said manager told her the cards would be refunded and if we could charge again or pay cash. Im sorry I dont like being attempted to be charged twice. I will not be going back for that reason alone

This place has a great vintage look. Prices are reasonable for a downtown Pleasanton location. Pizza dough is achieved with a nice crunchy bite to it. Service was stellar. Not too crowded after the usual lunch hours. Clean and well taken care of. There is a really convenient parking lot adjacent to the building shared with other businesses in the area.

Service: Took a long time for the food to arrive. However, the server was very attentive and enthusiastic. They were attentive and helpful with our drinks and special requests. We tipped him well.Ambience: We sat outdoors, the seating was very comfortable and wall art tasteful. Outdoor breeze was quite nice after our morning run. The indoor vibe is also a very nice old school pizza parlor. It would have been nice if the pizza stands were more stable and didn’t tip over easily.Food: The cheesy garlic bread appetizer was quite good. Excellent bread texture and flavor with a perfect rose. Had not been to this particular pizza parlor in years! Met a friend for lunch and, ordered a sandwich. Should have had the pizza. I ordered the Italian sausage and mozzarella cheese sandwich. One word: HORRIBLE. The sausage was way undercooked and mushy. The bread, too hard to even eat. I didnt even touch my other half of sandwich. Barely ate my first half. Asked for a box to take home but, knew it wouldnt be eaten so, left it on the table. Other than that, it was nice to see downtown old Pleasanton again. The pizza Parlor was very clean, good service and, outside dining was very comfortable. Next time, Ill stick with the pizza.

This place has awesome pizzas that are super cheesy. The portions are quite big so be careful when ordering! I was in a group of three, and a half Caesar, garlic bread, and medium cheese pizza was more than enough. Make sure to give the pizza a few minutes to cool otherwise the cheese will slip right off.The place gets packed so make sure you grab a table when you can!

I love Gay Nineties. Ive been eating their delicious pizza since approximately 1987. Even after my family moved away about 8 years ago, I stop for a pie nearly every time I drive through town a few times a year. This week I popped in on my way back from Santa Cruz and was so disappointed. A medium pepperoni was over $20, which I dont mind paying . But the pizza was all wrong. Stiff, doughy crust, different pepperoni (normal size and taste vs. the zippy little ones), and cheap-tasting waxy cheese. Such a bummer. It even made me wonder if the ownership has changed. Whats happened?

Easy walk from main street. They have some indoor seating, some outdoor, and an outdoor covered deck area which can also be reserved for events or large groups. The food is very good! They have many different pizza options, which are wonderful. The waiter was very friendly and made sure we were good throughout our visit.

A great area, a restaurant with such potential. Greeted and sat anywhere wed like. I ordered my food, a meat lovers pizza, 12 boneless chicken wings xx reaper spicy style, and some drinks. We randomly received some cheese sticks with ranch and marinara. I then asked who ordered these and the waiter said that I did.... But I said no, I ordered boneless hot wings... he came back the pizza... the pizza had sandwich slice floppy ham on it, and sandwich slice salami and more other than quality meats on it. I picked up a piece of pizza, and all the toppings came off, with the cheese. I tasted the marinara on the pizza and could tell that it came from a can. Finally, the wings came around... bone-in wings... I told him boneless... he said he heard bone-in.... I said okay its whatever.... The more i inspected the pizza and carved into it, the more I found out how cheap the pizza was made, considering Im in food service as well. For $30 a pizza, I expect quality. Not too little sauce over too much bread, or sandwich meat I can find at subway.I gave 2 star because the waiter was fast, just not accurate. The food was subpar verses the price. This place has the potential to outbeat the packed Chicago Pizza place across the street.The drinks were goodI would not go back or recommend.

Heard great reviews about the pizza me and my fiance went out to go eat. Went on a Saturday evening around 5:30 PM. Waited at the front door, finally had to go get somebody to come seat us. Sat down had to wait 15 minutes and still nobody came to offer us drinks or to take our order. I completely understand with a pandemic and shortage of employees but this was unacceptable. The unexperienced, unprofessional with no hospitality skills waiter said hed bring someone out but never did and when I questioned him he got an attitude and was very Rude. Unfortunately we left and we never got to taste the food. Because of the service that we got I will never try their food and never go back there again unfortunately.

We have enjoyed dining at Gay Nineties for many years. They have ample outdoor seating, and good service. Their pizza is unique in that it is topped with a very heavy layer of cheese. So if cheese is not your thing, you may want to order something else, but we love it!

Great place for groups! The pizza is good, like CA good pizza. My basis for comparison is NYC (style) pizza, which is the best! Chicago pizza is unique in its own right, and is great! So, of you love CA style pizza, this is the place to go! Enjoy!I didnt get pics of the pizza bcuz my group was hungry and devoured it before I could take pics. I did however get pics of the restaurant, and read the history, which is fascinating. Gay nineties is referring to the 1890s. If you go, take the time to read the history on the building outside. Awesome!

Great place! Delicious food and friendly service. This place recalls the old-timey pizza parlors of my youth, which is appropriate because my wife used to come here with her family in the 70s. We visited on the way back to Sunnyvale from a bike ride. We got perfect pandemic seating on their roomie and well ventilated covered patio, in view of our car and bikes. It was a little chilly so the heaters were much appreciated. Were going to make it a regular so. Highly recommend!!

This place was alright. We didnt get to try the pizza on this first visit, but the pasta dishes were okay. Nothing to write home about. Given the choice, I recommend the French bread over the garlic bread; the garlic bread was garbage. None of us could decide what it tasted like, but it wasnt garlic. Service was okay. We sat outside and that seemed to be the right choice; the inside was incredibly loud and warm and claustrophobic with barely enough room to pass between tables. The restrooms we singles, which is not great in a restaurant, particularly with no room to wait in line. The womens featured a portrait of a silently crying girl across from the toilet. Awkward.

The pizza at Gay’s is delicious. I love their thick chewy crust at the edges. They are very generous with their cheese and toppings. Staff is very nice and helpful. This is a nice place to hang out with friends and family. Fun and interesting atmosphere with lots to talk about on the walls. Check out the photos. There is plenty of parking on the street and also a parking lot across the street. Masks are required except when eating, but there seems to always be someone who thinks rules don’t apply and go in maskless. Don’t give the staff heck. They are all working hard and deserve respect. I will definitely be here whenever I am in Pleasanton.

I understand that nearly every service industry is understaffed but this was beyond bad. Our server rushed through our order and was ready to run off before I could finish. We were sitting outside and could not see take out orders). We also ordered garlic-bread (which used to be free). Well, now, its $4.95 per order. This tasted neither garlicky, nor tasty. It was (basically) a toasted/dry 1/2 loaf of cut sourdough bread. But it had absolutely NO taste. Very disappointed. Never complained to the waiter because I was on a date. Usually, the garlic bread has plenty of garlic and not dry (it used to have both a butter and/or olive oil finish in/on the bread w/lots of garlic). This had neither. I will never order that again (especially, for 5 bucks). I deducted a star for both the garlic/non-garlic bread and the exceptionally long wait (60-minutes is unacceptable - especially since dine in wasnt full).

My group split a pizza and four entrées so I got to try quite a few things.If it was just a pizza place I would have given five stars, but the entrées were all kind of meh. I love eggplant parm, but the eggplant was absolutely smothered in sauce so it was a soggy mess. The sauce was fine. It needed salt. But this is such a unique sauce that it should be turned into a standalone dish, not just served with noodles and bland chicken. I see the owner replies to reviews, so to the owner, here is a suggestion- turn it into a spicy chicken pasta dish (I like penne). Mix sautéed mushrooms into the sauce and noodles, then top with a heavily Cajun seasoned sliced chicken breast and garnish with sun dried tomatoes and finely chopped raw red pepper. The spiciness of the chicken with the creaminess of the sauce, and the contrast in flavors is sooooo good!!As is, the only reason I gave four stars instead of three was because the pizza was so good. Either make your entrées worth ordering or just stick to pizza.

Unfortunately, we had the one waiter who did not wear his face mask on his face but around his chin while taking our drink order exposing his nose and mouth when taking our order. Great food, golden fried chicken and veil parmesan are my favorite.Always leave satisfied and full. Tatiana is the best. Paul always makes sure the food is good and hot. Connor always recomends great beers. Oh and the pizza is off the hook.

Excellent salads, PIZZA, and pastaLove the pickled beets and pepperoni in the house salad. Very soft, homemade crusts for pizza made in house. Old school pizza bar with newspapers and headlines from last century and license plate decorations.

Absolutely horrible experience; the space was cramped, loud, and overall unpleasant. The staff was rude when we asked for service. The food was also subpar; the salads were quickly thrown together, and the pizza was extremely greasy. At least they had Coca Cola.

To be honest, I dont get the appeal, and never have. I grew up in Pleasanton and this was either a favorite to many or one that people despised. I do not despise this place, but to me it is nothing special. Between price and quality, this is one of the last places I would choose in the Tri Valley.

I visited my parents in Dublin and we stopped by Gay 90s while visiting Pleaston. The pizza was absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD! Im from Arizona and we have an abundance of pizzerias in my town but none of them can even come close to Gay 90s. I wish they delivered to Arizona!

Chef Boyardee for $70. Pasta dishes taste like what I used to get from cans. No refills - it at least no waiter has been observed doing it. Nice location. $70 for a family of 4, no alcohol, with average food.

Food was good but service wasnt all there. We got greeted, seated, greeted,greeted, greeted, finally noticed we didnt have menus, waiters walked past us knowing weve been waiting with no menus, finally 8 mins of just waiting for our menus we get them. I didn see the point of getting greeted but not taking care of us.Its a restaurant, people come to eat, meaning were hungry! It wasnt even busy, horrible waiters, wont b going back any time soon. Il just b ordering ahead if I do decide to go way later down the road.

I just took my family for dinner here 2day&the pizza was good, but the service wasnt that great,my friend had told me that the pizza was pretty good, so i wanted to try it,i guess we should of told them it was our 1st time dining there bcuz our server a older lady took our order brought our apps&then after the pizza came i had finished my soda&she didnt come back to check on us for like 20 min?then rt when i was about to get up to ask for a refill here she comes, i can understand if they were busy but they werent, besides us there was a group of 3 girls that were eating by us&i guess they told there server it was there 1st time bcuz he seemed alot more friendlier&i heard him giving them suggestions about what 2 order,the pizza was pretty good, but the service we recieved was not very good for a pretty pricey pizza i wish we would of been treated a bit better,i might go back but it probably wont be for a while.

Old time Pleasanton charm and good pizza are in abundance here. Come here for a quiet family lunch or dinner, or bring a crowd and have a party. Take away is easy to arrange, too. Beat pizza place that Ive ever come to know. That means alot to me because I thought I ran the bear pizza place. It wasnt mine but I followed and defined what was and was not acceptable to come out of our ovens, into boxes and into peoples homes and stomachs.I was allowed to experience the cheese at this establishment ladies and gentlemen. Uncooked, shredded, moist, supple and inexpensive. We spoke a little shop and while I was personally on a hunt for some mozzarella sticks, burning man in nevada has someone with a pizza shop that needs some cheese?Do you need the address?#octothorpe will get you there545iI can drive there but I need to make sure I have reserve to return. Perhaps a few tanks of gas or a fuel tank. A fuel tank would help others refuel their vehicles so they could return from when they came and refill their reserves.Why not dream big? Whose got a fuel tank? Whats it take to fill it up?A little gas station out there could probably benefit from and agreement made for some source cost fuel and an additional method of refueling people to remove the funnel of traffic coming out of the event.If you made it this far through my brainstorm of thoughts, congratulations, you are an inquisitive mind.Im wondering it its wise to fuel up. Bring reserve. Water up, bring gallons upon gallons. Bring some flour. Make some bread and help make some pizzas at burning man in Nevada.I managed a shop in every position and while managing at the top i still did the dishes and the floors and the walls. Thats just what you do.Thanks for existing in downtown Pleasanton california guys. The food was alright. However, the service was awful. Always had to ask for a drink refill and then had to wait 5 minutes or more for the refill. I waited over 30 minutes near the end of my meal and nobody checked back with me. I was with a group outside and we were the only people there. They simply forgot we were out there somehow. I had to go in to ask for the check. The food was not good enough for the poor service.

Heard abou the place and was extremely dissapointed. Although i can’t comment on the pizza since we never got to order. We waited abou twenty minutes for a waiter to go to our table. I even went inside to ask if there was service outside. And still no service. At one point a waiter came outsise to clear a table and left without even asking if we were being serviced. Terrible service. If you are mistreated before even ordering. What’s the point.
