Clean, pleasant store with a good selection of healthy foods. It is a little to expensive for me for day-to-day ítems, but I shop here for products that I cannot find anywhere else. They carry a lot of organic and super healthy foods and treats and stuff.

The appearance, cleanliness, and quality of produce are excellent, but the prices are too high. I found the prices for the same items I normally buy at other supermarkets to be as much as double in price. The best deal is their pizza, and I would definitely recommend it; however, be ready to pay $7 - $10 for a gallon of milk or $20 for a small package of chicken. Even if its organic, I can find a much better deal at Trader Joes. They really need more competitive pricing.

The Gelson’s La Costa/Carlsbad store is well known for their friendly staff and meticulously chosen food items. It’s always well stocked even during the “outages”. The store is kept immaculate which as an older adult I appreciate very much. The bathrooms as well, are kept extremely clean.But the fresh Produce and Meats are what sets Gelson’s apart from all the other grocery stores. Everything is fresh and delicious! They go to extreme effort to sell the most excellent produce and at a decent price. And the unusual produce is always fun to try.The Meat at Gelson’s is so good that I can’t buy from other grocery stores anymore. The quality is something you simply can not get anywhere else. It’s worth the price of every single bite!!!

I was shopping for ingredients to make a dinner. When I entered the store, one of the bag clerks ( Bobby ) greeted me which was very nice. also, Troy, the MOD waved hello as well. When I couldnt find the bread I was looking for, he offered an alternative brand and took me to where it was stocked. I appreciate the attention given to regular customers as myself.

Today I went to my favorite store, Gelsons La Costa because they have it all like delicious meat, kind of expensive but the meat is high quality and top of the list in steaks. The amazing staff who remember my name, and are always helpful. They go above and beyond.I moved here from L. A. in 2018 and I found this gem in La Costa. Even though other stores may be less expensive, I go to this Gelsons because the staff made me feel so at home, and continually provide excellent service.Through Covid it remained the best stocked and maintained a sense of normalcy!

The bad tasting shrimp and cucumber salad. It is $20 a pound, and last week I got a bad batch, slimy and bad tasting. I buy this almost every visit. Yesterday I was smart and tasted it before buying. It was of substandard freshness and had a bitter aftertaste. I think someone is not being careful on freshness. Also upsetting is that now the crab cake sauce is very hot, it was not spicy initially. In addition, last night the crab cakes themselves were spicy. Please stop the injection of hot sauce into everything! We can add it if we want, but it has no place being the default, especially in foods that were exceptional before. One more of my favorites ruined and I will stop shopping at Gelsons.

Charging my car across the street, thought Id be effieicnet and do my grocery shopping while I waited. Three of the first 4 items I needed, were not there. Too much effort put into appealing to high maintenance, picky, affluent people. Blue cheese is a basic salad dressing. There wasnt any in the dressing aisle. Might have been some overpriced gourmet blue cheese, in a refrigerated section, but I didnt have a chance to look. I was too busy looking for Franks Buffalo sauce. Nope, only Franks Red Hot sauce. Guess my buffalo chicken dip wont be happening. Went on to look for a basic Stawberry or fun-fetti box cake mix. Nope. Only chocolate or vanilla. Ugh.The store is well lit, nice decor, and has a bar... (why?). Seems to have a good wine and produce selection. Just disappointed that my basic items were not available.

Personalized friendly service, especially in the Pharmacy. Dale the Pharmacist reminds me of a time when we had a relationship with a pharmacist who knew you and the whole family and went the extra mile to make sure you weren’t left on your own with your treatment. This was my first time in a Glesons. The store is nicely laid out, clean, and with all the usual things youd expect in a grocery store, in addition to some pretty high end/gormet items; floral, a good selection of cards, dairy, meat case, veggies and fruit. They also have a little Cafe, sushi bar, pizza, etc. The isles are nice and wide- which is in stark contrast to Ralphs & Vons...which is most appreciated especially if you are using a mobility aide or just trying to navigate past other buggies. I would say its one of the more pricy stores in the area, but.. the meat looked really good, as well as the fruit and veggies.

This was a beautiful store with a lot of great options. However the customer service is really lacking. I smiled at each store employee that Ive seen and I got no smiles back. Also no thank you, no have a good day no good morning. It was the most uncomfortable experience at a grocery store Ive been had. Im staying at the Omni Resort next door and I plan on coming back. I hope this was just a one time tired morning occurrence.

The person that helped me out at the store when I screwed up and ordered a holiday meal from the wrong location was wonderful. This, and the Butterflake Dinner Rolls were the only saving grace of the experience.We ordered the brisket and it was extremely overdone. When heated up it because a brick. $100 meal that ended up in the trash. Bottom piece is how it came from the store (to be heated).UPDATE:The local store promptly refunded the cost of the brisket without me needing to follow up again. As a result of this action, and my positive first interaction at the store, I am updating my review to 4 stairs. Mistakes happen, its good to see a company making an effort to address the problem.

I enjoy this store for nostalgic reasons... I used to shop for a client here.I had hoped their selection of meats and seafood would be at par, but its just like any other store, except for the amped up prices. Youd think with prices jacked so high they would weed out rotten produce or have fish thats actually fresh but I expect too much?They have a wonderful drink selection....but most of the things they carry that I cant find other places arent worth spending my whole paycheck on five things 🤷🏼Dont shop here if youre not rich lmao.

Just terrible and overpriced. I ordered a red salad with salmon. Just a little bit salad with a couple of pieces cubic shape, slightly cooked salmon(which tested terrible), and ice-tea was over $30! I was there with coworkers and eventhough we ordered at the same time, the food came after a long time with a big gap between each couple of dishes! Service was almost nonexistent. I am sure, they would blame COVID for their lack of service, overpriced bad food, and lack of management!

Gelsons is a gourmet market with prices to prove it.This location is rather plain when compared to others.For everyday items its too expensive for the common person like myself,BUT it does have items all throughout the store that you cant find in your average market.Its main claims to fame are the service deli where you can get whole meals such as over roasted whole turkey and toast beef, carved to you order, salmon, gourmet sides, stuffed potatoes, awesome imported and domestic olives, gourand sides and salads.Their salad bar us second to noneIf youre going to pay $8-10+ for a salad elsewhere, come here and try their salad bar first; you wont regret it.Their imported & domestic cheeses are incredibly delicious.Ask the cheese specialist for recommendations & a sample.Their produce is high priced, but you soon find out that its worth it.Locally and organically sourced, you find the produce to be some of the freshest and best quality.Their gourmet European bakery makes some of the best treats Im sure youll love.Lastly their meat department is amazing. Their meats are also local and organic and some of the best youll find.You may not be able to shop here regularly, but it you have an important party, event, or even a great date at home shop here first.

Found lots of healthy items that I cant find at other stores, some of my favorites are pasture raised organic eggs, prime meat, grass-fed beef, whole milk organic cottage cheese, whole milk yogurt and Skyr, local grown green and kalamata olives, microgreens, beautiful avocados and the produce in general. Its expensive but the customer service is excellent, the aisles are wide, the store is impeccably clean and they have quality merchandise and a excellent selection. Also they have a small sports bar which is unusual for a market but its very nice and they serve the best hamburgers which you can call and order to go. Theyre prepared food is very good and salads are made fresh daily. They do not put out Gelsons salads made from the previous day like other stores. If you dont care about spending extra money youll love it. Almost forgot, be sure to join their rewards program and download the app. You get $5 off for every hundred you spend and it adds up. I drove around to 10 super markets (not kidding) looking for mannicotti shells. Every place was out! I then went to Gelsons and they were stocked! I live close by but didnt go there first because their prices are usually way higher. But the price i paid wasnt as high as I thought it would be. I even bought two boxes. The salads to go in back are awesome. The sushi is legit. The folks that work here always polite. I dont think Ive ever waited in line. Very nice they have lovely food nice selection of higher-end items. But the everyday things you can get anywhere cost nearly double. Reminds me of this little market in Malibu same prices. Its definitely not worth it apart from the fact that its always so empty and theres never ever a line for obvious reasons. Everybodys very friendly. It looks like a painting up every isle. Regular groceries like canned goods and other non-perishables can be pricey unless you know how to shop smart.Great customer service and lots of local stuff.

I was excited to see a store that was new to me and I looked forward to do a shopping trip there. I admit the store is big, clean and pretty, however, it has virtually none of the staples that we usually buy. Over half of the shelves were empty and had cases of water staged to take up the empty space. It would be a great water store if the price of water was reasonable. The water was as expensive as everything else in the store. Will not go there again, unless I need to buy emergency water!

This is the best location. I went to del mar and it didnt meet my expectations. This store is always fully stocked and the employees go above and beyond. You pay for what you get so the reason for higher prices is due to quality and service. They offer products that you cant find at Trader Joes, Whole foods, or any other market. Its a nice, clean store but it is pricey. And I dont mean that they necessarily have high-end items that cost more, I mean everything costs more. My wife and I perused the store to use a coupon we received when we moved and it became an exercise in damage control; how could we actually save money using this coupon versus just going to any other grocery store. In the end, we were able to bargain hunt, but by bargain hunt I mean find items that were normally priced at competitors.A benefit of the prices is that it wasnt busy. If you prioritize not having to fight crowds, youll like it here. The meat counter did look quite good, however, we didnt need anything that day. Overall it seemed like it isnt a terrible place to shop, but Im unlikely to be back considering Vons is less than 5 minutes away and is substantially cheaper for roughly the same quality of food.

Though a bit pricier than other super markets, their produce, meat and deli selections are absolutely wonderful. This market is also within easy walking distance to the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa--and attracts many guests from there. Watch for their specials--which can also be amazing as well as good buys. Im fairly new to Gelsons, but amazed at the selection of products and quality of the pre-made items. Also just recently tried the deli where I got a sandwich & 2 side deal. For around $12 its a great lunch or dinner. I love this place and wish there was one closer to me in Temecula, but gives me an excuse to visit Dad. Also the staff is great here. The people that work there are fantastic, their meat department, deli, bakery and grocery isles are exceptional with foods that you can’t find in any other store. The pharmacy staff is incredibly helpful and professional. At CVS and other major chains, I just feel like another number. At Gelsons, they take the time to discuss my medications and chat with me while I wait for my prescriptions to be filled (which usually is not that long, since they are very quick at filling them). The experiences I have had at Gelsons Pharmacy far exceed those Ive had at any other pharmacy, in any other state, without question.On the grocery side, I love the impressive variety of specialty and niche products offered here. Their prices on specialty coffee beans are, even without a sale, far cheaper than the same coffee beans would be from the roasters themselves (Counter Culture, Intelligentsia)!!! When there is a flash sale, as there so often is, I end up saving around 8 dollars per bag of coffee vs. the roasters home delivery service. Their cold-brew coffee cooler is also impressive (can you tell Im a bit obsessed with coffee?).All around, their exemplary customer service, exceptional pharmacy staff, specialty grocery offerings, and frequent, impressive sales make them a store I will return to, time and time again, into the foreseeable future.

Had an experience here where we ordered a special cake for a special occasion two weeks before the date we needed it, was told everything would be taken care of and we should pay for it when we pick it up. The date come, March 5th, they claim to have lost the order, didnt make the cake, didnt try to make it right and not even an apology. Basically shrugged their shoulders and said whoops, I guess it wasnt ever made.So we were stuck picking up a cake from a different store and were very upset obviously. When I went online to express my displeasure at the way the whole situation played out on their customer service form on their website. Its been WEEKS now and no response. This place doesnt give a darn about me, you or any of their customers. If the roles had been reversed and I was responsible for basically ruining someones birthday cake I would, first, apologize, second, see if there was anything we could do to find a comparable cake, and third, let my manager know what happened and see how they wanted to help - thats how you MAINTAIN customers.The way we were treated is how you LOSE customers - and the only reason for this review is because of the fact that no one in management cared enough to contact us after reading the customer comment section on the website.I work right down the street and will be taking my business elsewhere from here on, even though I have to drive further to do that. I go there for special things like poke and Rxs which has the same pharmacists as Albertsons and Haggen. Everyday staples are very, very expensive compared to Vons less than a mile away. The store has fewer items and sizes than its predecessors and many of my old favorites are gone. I agree that the salad bar is nice. Personally, I think that Gelsons has given up on the location, none of the remodel plans announced late last year are underway.

What a disappointment this market is. This is essentially the same market as the Albertsons that was there for years and the Haggan that was there for months, but with much higher prices. These is nothing unusual or nice about this store and isnt the same as Gelsons in LA.
