Decent spot for AYCE Korean BBQSeveral new items on the menu now for appetizers, including cheese katsu, fish katsu and more.Server today didnt miss a beat and was very attentive with checking in periodically.I wish they had a properly stocked full bar, but I guess they need a different alcohol license for that maybe ? I think only beer and sake are allowed here.

Best server ever! Thank you to our lovely Kevin for treating us so well. We don’t know if that’s actually his name but he responded to it. Great night, definitely coming back. Kenneth didn’t judge our food choices and made a safe environment. I even started telling him about my life. Keith gladly served me and my friend our 12 potato side dishes with no judgement. We hope Kelly gets a raise for his hard work.

My little sister has been begging me to come to this restaurant since she is a regular and today I FINALLY gave in. I was enjoying my dinner on the evening of Wednesday 5/17 when a homeless person walked in looking for help because someone was trying to beat him up outside. Him, having no where else to go, came in seeking protection and help. Like a lot of homeless people, he was turned away. In desperation, he pulled the fire alarm to get peoples attention. I understand that can cause frustration to the staff and customers but after hearing he was in danger, I understood why he did it.He reminded me of the teen in New York who was chased, dragged out of a bodega, stabbed and left dying on a street corner in 2018. So when he was kicked out in a very rude and humiliating way by the team lead, Theresa, I was not okay with that at all. I went outside to see if he was okay where I found Theresa as well. I told her she couldve handled that a lot differently and that it wasnt okay to kick him out when his life was in danger. Hes homeless but hes still human. She yelled well I dont care what you think!, extremely unprofessional. I came back to my seat because I didnt want to make the situation worse and to keep my composure. My sister got up and went up to her to get her name because she would like to file a formal complaint, thats when she said I dont care! I dont give a f*ck bit**. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE when we didnt even come about the situation in a rude or disrespectful way. While complaining to my server, the assistant manager heard the feedback that we were providing and asked my sister for a statement to escalate the issue to her manager. Below is a picture of the statement my sister provided.After hearing so much about how this restaurant is so great, and the customer service is spectacular, I am very upset that my first experience was not only an unpleasant one but one that we were disrespected and the foul language was uncalled for.However, although we had an unpleasant experience due to Teresa, our server, Joel, was extremely professional throughout our entire dinner, even before the incident happened, and was really courteous. He was also willing to listen to our feedback and let us speak with the assistant manager. We tipped him well because Theresas actions were not a representation of the excellent service he provided.

Great food and great service, we went around 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded at all, we got seated really easily! The staff was kind, attentive, and came to check on us often to change our or trays or clear plates. There were great options on the lunch menu - we got several rounds of steak, brisket, pork belly, calamari steak, and shrimp. It was a great bang for our buck, we were a group of five and all of us were way too full to even have dinner. Pretty good dessert as well! We got some sticky rice cake type thing (I forgot the name, but imagine a cinnamon roll, mochi, and a donut hole combined into one), and also macaron ice cream!

Ample of parking space. Saturday dinner obviously we had to wait for almost an hour, but it was worth the wait. The server who took care of us was very friendly and we were given much attention even when the restaurant was packed. Very good food, they dint have the tongue on the menu but overall the variety of the food, ambiance of the restaurant and the service was too notch.We ordered gulbi, 2 pork belly and rice on the side even before we sat down and the food was out in no time. We dint even order appetizers yet. Lovely and will be back again.

Mainly same marinate used in many of the meats so variety can be improved. There was a wait, for us about 30-40 minutes. The service was good but could have been better. Would recommend for once in a while outing.

I love Korean bbq. The restaurant is really beautiful and they have a lot of place to accommodate a lot of people. The food as always is delicious. The only complain I do have is that they didn’t have cheese corn. Every Korean bbq I been to always has that. So I’m as a little disappointed but overall I was pleased with the service.

Great service overall! Phil was amazing and he got our food out really fast. Only reason that I’m giving 2 stars is because one of the servers dripped hot oil on my arm whilst she was changing out our grill & she completely just walked away. After I told our server, he didn’t really do anything about it besides just being more careful when changing our grill (which I’m not complaining about but I wish they actually did something). I definitely will come again but maybe not sitting next to the grill lol.

Food was okay. Service was okay at the table. The manager was horrible at her job and extreme overwhelmed and under trained on how to deal with customers. After a $400 bill we tried to order some macaroons as we had a few in our hand the manager decided that we could not buy macaroons. Screamed behind us and then almost snatched the macaroon ice cream from my 7 year old. I will never go there again. Their management should be ashamed to call the manager working on 10/1/23 in the evening a team member I have never in my life been treated that way by anyone in the hospitality industry in my life. By far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.

By far the worst Gen Ive ever been to which is a real shame. Visited for dinner on 1/29/2022.When we pulled we went around the wrong side of the building and the door was busted out and covered in plywood. We thought that maybe it was out of business until we saw some people walk out.We should have left.We walked in and a woman was standing around waiting for someone to show up to the hostess stand because apparently she was picking up food to go? Finally someone showed up and she got her to-go bag and we put our name down on the waiting list.We should have left.I went to the bathroom while we waited. One whole sink was missing a fixture, the other sink was broken and wouldnt turn off, but only the broken sink had a working soap dispenser.We should have left.I have Celiac so I cant have gluten. Soy sauce has gluten, so I cant eat anything marinated here. Unfortunately almost everything we ordered that we know doesnt have gluten was out of stock. I settled on brisket, pork belly and a premium steak.When they dropped off utensils, both pair of tongs were visibly caked with food. I handed them back to the waitress and she said, oh theyre dirty. Uh, yeah.Dishes were also really chipped which I know is a health code issue. The new tongs she brought over were visibly broken with the plastic heat protector hanging on by a thread. (See pics)I asked the waitress if I could have a dish with only oil in it because I have Celiac and cant have soy sauce that was in my original salt / oil / soy sauce dish. She came back with a 3 compartment dish of oil and EVERY SINGLE COMPARTMENT had drops of soy sauce in it. Is this a joke? At this point I was over it and just had the green tea salt solo on my food. Meh. (See pics.)Food wasnt good and it just felt dirty. Worst Gen experience ever.We should have left!

This was my 1st experience at a Korean barbecue with my husband and it was amazing. The staff was very good and at checking in at good intervals instead of being persistent. They did change the grill pan various times during our meal which I truly appreciated. The quality of the meat also seemed fresh and really good

This was my first experience of this setting. There were bottomless drinks, - they refilled your glass at no extra cost. You cooked your own meat. You has a choice of different meats, loved the shrimps and the spicy chicken. The noodles were tasty. They had a rule. You had to finish your meat or you paid $5. Makes sense as it would encourage people to only take as much as they could eat and avoid waste. The waiters were great. Our waiter had a great cheerful attitude. Because the place is usually full, you may have some waiting to do for an open table.

So yummy! 😋 Wait time was not long for a party of 3, less than 15 minutes. Yah!!Good selection of meats to grill and a few appetizers offered. Everything was pretty good, once service started, our server came by pretty often and kept us informed of wait times for certain foods or other suggestions for ordering. People came by and cleared plates pretty quickly as well. Rice cakes appetizers were a little hard and their tofu soup was watery and tomato-ey tasting but other than that everything was very good!

Food is no longer good and I can no longer recommend this restaurant to my friends. We had lunch here today and we were disappointed with the time it takes for them to bring in the meat. The ambiance is still the same but we are there for the food which according to my and my family’s opinion is not worth the price. So well try other Korean bbq place and will not be coming back to this place.

Anything with the word spicy in front of it was great ie the pork and beef bulgogi, spicy chicken, spicy pork belly. Also the brisket was very good, but needed some kind of sauce, I felt. Would not go seafood here, shrimp and calamari was pretty bland. Service was excellent. Definitely a sit down and have an all you can eat lunch or dinner, and would be a great birthday spot. Takeout is def a no go here. The bang for your buck is sitting down at the tabletop grill. Will def be back.

Had a wait to be seated and during that time we noticed how hot it was inside this place. Turns out the AC was broken. It was a 100° day today and it was no cooler inside this restaurant than it was outside. We ended up leaving due to the heat.

Amazing BBQ!!! We love this place so much. Food is delicious and service is friendly. Their cucumber mint lemonade is amazing. Definitely try it. 25 dollars for each person and all you can eat. Good place for a birthday party and they will celebrate for you.

Paid $200 for a reservation at 6pm for 18 people, show up at 5:40 and they gave the table away because we werent here on time and then tried to say we where out of are reservation. After some talking we got two separate tables instead of the one for all the people to sit at and to make it worse this place has QR code menus 0/10 wouldnt recommend.

My first time at Gen and Ill be back soon. Great variety of meats and sides. The place is very popular and fills up fast. No reservations unless your party is at least 6 people. We had the garlic pork belly, shrimp, cajun chicken, galbi with all the included sides.

I had a lovely experience yesterday on 4/23/23. Not because of the food ( The food is always amazing and taste delicious ) but because of our server Vi. We had a party of 9 and he was phenomenal on coming over and making sure we always had what we needed. In my opinion he went above and beyond and made the experience a lot more enjoyable and comfortable. We went there for my brothers 30th birthday and he made his birthday that much better. Made a reservation over the phone a few days prior however was told the day of that there was no reservation recorded in the system. The front end staff was extremely nice and understanding and squeezed my party in anyways. The waitress who helped us was a superstar. This place was awesome! Its a set price for lunch and for dinner. $16 per person for lunch and $25 per person for dinner. All you can eat! They have steak, shrimp, calamari, chicken and so much more. You can order 4 things at a time. They give you rice, salad, sauces and other stuff to add as flavor. The portions are filling and perfect. Friendly staff and they are still learning their stuff but all around great customer service. The guy that helped us was very attentive. Definitely a place to check out. First time Ive been sworn at by a server anywhere. It happened more than once during the meal. Talked to management, who said they would address it, and it became very clear they didnt speak with her or send her home. No complaints, and outstanding service. Not the best Korean bbq in the area, but everything was great. The selection of items on the menu is not as diverse as some of the other area restaurants, but the portion sizes were perfect and allowed you to try more things. Because its a chain they have great systems in place and everything was very efficient. The ambiance inside is much more modern/hip/party like compared to some of the other kbbq restaurants in the area (I think they sang happy birthday 5 times while we were there and it was a Tuesday). I would definitely return with friends.

If you love all you can eat meat this is the place for you. The staff is helpful and kind, the quality of all the cuts and appetizers are always consistent and tasty, and for 2 people the price is below 70$ I would call that a win. Make sure to come in early and get checked during the busier days as wait times can take an hour at times, other than that everything is worth it in the end.

Awesome service... awesome food... we had a great time cant say enough about the staff at this restaurant everyone was so cordial and entertaining that it was this, that made the evening absolutely spectacular. My hands go up to the manager Manny for training his staff so well. Its not often that you go into an establishment where everyone has a big genuine smile and song in their voice when they greet you. The best Gen service Ive experienced. Malcolm was awesome, didnt miss a single thing I ordered. Didnt think it was possible from the other Gen Ive been too (Milpitas, Fremont, LA). Employee if the decade for Gen should go to him. Excellent service, alot of choices for meats. Soup is not good but its not what I would go to Gen for, so definitely skip soup. Brisket was great if you get the fatty cut. Bulgogi, Hawaiian steak were delicious and tender. Pork belly and pork cheek delicious too. Plenty of rice wrapper for the kiddies so they were happy too.

Good food at a great price point. The bacon is amazing and are the thickest slices of bacon you can find. The quality of food is high. This place gets busy so it pays to plan your visit before peak times to avoid the wait. I have seen other complaints about slow service. To be clear the staff hustles here and are far from lazy, etc. At least when I visited there were lots of people for a handful of employees. They were friendly and prompt all thing considered.

They have more selections of meat than Ive ever seen anywhere else and also Canada included.Food - They have a large assortment of banchan and actually offer unlike a lot of restaurants, rice paper, garlic and such that should be offered in a Korean BBQ meat restaurant.The meat is good, definitely have different flavors with good quality cuts the way theyre supposed to be.They offer large intestine which is a must have for me and my bf.I also appreciate the restaurant giving a free of the different dipping sauces becuase theres a surpsing amount of restaurants that dont give anything.Drinks - they have happy hour and sell Korean alcohol for a lowered price. $9 vs $12. Still high but its imported so no biggy. (In Korea, Sonu is 2000 won = $2 USD)Appearance & atmosphere - extremely extremely busy. We waited over an hour, we came at around 7? And we knew it would take long. I would say dont bother coming later than 8 because youll get one round of food which btw you limit is 4 meats per order and theyll close. Very modern, really cool blue lights and such. Definitely aimed to the young adults.Staff - I gotta give it to you guys, some of those customers were rude, and just plain inconsiderate and mean. Also due to the wait times I hear when ppl come in and you have to tell them its like 1.5hour wait and they throw a fit... Like you guys handled it with also having friendly and attentive waiters and waitresses. We got to see them buying food and dirnks for each other because lot of them didnt have time for a break and lots worked overtime. You guys killed it!4/5 honestly, I wouldnt say its worth the wait if it werent for the large intestine. No reservations, just a call list which is organized but I dont like restaurants who wont take reservations and that what this is, a personal review.It encourages snappy attitude like what I saw for the hour we waited and upset customers who they could have just taught them to think ahead and make reservations. Means you can still with but for those of us that knew we wanted to go, we would reserve.

Something Different great for a date night. Good atmosphere and fun. Prices more than fair for all the selections offered for dinner. Love the Green Tea Sea Salt with the variety of sauces. They bring out the meat selection and you cook it yourself at the table. Loved how quick they were to change out the cooking grill several times so clean. 1-Very good marinades and meat choices 2-decor was modern and new 3- the staff was experienced and on the ball 4- The only thing I didnt like was the banchan. They leave it out at the tables until guests arrive. The selection is also mostly whats the easiest to make. 5- My family and I will be going again.

We have been several times over the last 6 months and have tried a few other KBBQ spots in the bay and we still love this place the most.The price is perfect, they have quick service, friendly staff and the quality of the meat is by far the best weve come across so far. This place is an hour from our house and we pass at least a handful of other KBBQ spots but this place is so worth it!Our favorites are: beef short ribs, brisket, belly, bulgogi (spicy and regular), and the Hawaiian steak. All of its good but those are our favs and the meat cuts have a great ratio to fat and are marinated so well you dont need sauces or seasoning to enjoy them. Just let the grill get that crusty carmelization going and youll be in heaven! :D

They kicked him out but that was once we finished are food. He was bothering up and no one seemed to care to boot him out. We were a party of 9. Waited for almost an hour to be seated. Before we were seated the people from the counter took our first order of meats supposedly to have it ready by the time we are at our table. After we were seated, waited for another 30 minutes for the meats. Then the waiter finally came and said our previous meat selection was not inputted in their pad so he needs to take our first meat orders again. No banchans were served until after we had out first order of meats and we had to remind them multiple times about it. And when they finally gave us the banchans, we needed to share the 3 small saucers they served. We asked for kimchi but we were informed they were out for the night. Then when we asked for another round of the same banchans they previously served, it was already a different set but with kimchi. We ordered 6 soups only 2 came and when we told them, they said thats the only soup left. They had to sit us in one long table made of two short tables combined. Everytime we ordered it is supposed to be for the whole long table but they just tend to just serve one side. They were also out of the japchae. No available salads.. They were blaming the private party outside for all of the out of stocks they had.After the dinner, my daughter and I didnt feel good from what we ate. To top it off, I got a splinter from their chopsticks.Had an almost similar experience years ago in their Northridge location. Didnt think that the experience they give is standard for every store. I will promise this again and now I will keep my promise... I will never step foot in this restaurant again.

While driving this was looking for lunch we running to this thing we though should be fun to begin with my plate of rice came with an extra hair sent it right back order spicy calamari and yes after the food went it to the grill a hair was on the plate full of sauce we order some thin meat and pork belly nothing had any flavor except for the honey chicken everything else was just not good at all maybe some salt or.pepper may have helped but out table didnt have a pipe to pull the smoke and we ended up suffocating every now and again so I would avoid the windows over all OK SERVICE PRICE VERY AFFORDABLE FOOD ALMOST CLOSE TO BE OK ... maybe I didnt know what to order but we tried at least 9 items only one was good

I had high hopes for this place considering it was completely filled up. When my family and I got seated, we immediately noticed our seats had oil and greens on them. We went ahead and wiped the booth ourself then sat. We were given our plates when I saw yellow stains on the one handed to me. I picked on the yellow spot and part of it came off. We were initially just going to ask for a new plate, until it turned out that all the plates we were given were dirty. We were too disgusted to stay and eat there.

It was my first time here and I went with a group of 8. Seating was comfortable and the atmosphere was full of energy with a good playlist going. There was a nice selection of meats and what I ate tasted good. Now actually getting your meat delivered to your table took a little to long especially when you have 8 people sharing the only four meats at time that they allow. Then theres the issue of the wrong meats being delivered when it finally does arrive. We stood outside waiting for about 15 or 20 minutes and when we were finally seated, service took forever. By 8:15p we decided to walk over to the make-shift dining tent where the receptionist was located and asked for an update on our spot in line. At this point, it all went downhill. Several times we were told just 10 to 15 minutes more and to check back in. So, we waited and checked and waited and checked. 9:30P, we were finally seated, no place settings, napkins or utensils but we figured okay we are seated so lets just keep it going. Another 15 minutes later the server finally came over to take our order, so we hurried through and placed our meat orders along with waters. 15 minutes later he came back with some of the order along with an assistant for the waters. No tongs for the meat and still no utensils and side dishes we proceeded to start cooking the meats and in the meantime some chopsticks arrived so we used those to help prep the meat which was already on the grill. Finally the tongs arrived and we started to just eat whatever was cooked and still no side dishes and rice. After several requests and a lot of frustration we were finally told they had no more rice. At this point we hadn’t gotten any side dishes and the dipping sauces that normally come with the meal and we still hadn’t gotten the rest of the meats we initially ordered. We then proceeded to tell the waiter that we were simply done and that we needed to speak with a manager so we can do something about the bill which we said we will not be paying full price for. Along comes the Trainee and she proceeds to explain that she was not going to do anything about the bill because in her words, “it looks like the grill is really black you have been cooking and eating a lot of food…”. I said no more and gave her my credit card to process the payment. 20 minutes later she came back and said to me that she was able to take 1 person off the bill. I then asked her what she was implying about the grill being black. She said she was assuming we had plenty to eat. Which she was totally off base on, even the waiter explained that it was just because of the marinade and that the meat was just sitting on the grill. Truth of it all, we barely ate anything and got the worse place to sit. With plenty of tables open under the tent they decided to sit us exactly at the last table at the only spot of the tent which had the side flap open for airflow. It was super cold and I even had to get a blanket in the car which was 10 feet from where we sat. Though she knew the drama we went through and how cold we were she still proceeded to give us her presumptive opinion on why the grill was black; very unprofessional and definitely needs more training on etiquette and customer service. We were people simply going out to enjoy dinner on a Friday night and we ended up with 3 hours of frustration. 2 hours waiting and 1 hour sucking it up. I have been to several other Gen locations and really wanted to treat the family to a fun experience, how disappointing. The service was horrible at this location and managed by people that cared even less than the servers. I would like a response from corporate or management about this experience so I can better set my expectations when dining at Gen. At the end of it all, we paid the bill minus the 1 person she removed and I still tipped the waiter.

After complaining that portions were too small to accommodate the number of people we had, the waitress apologized and said she would give us double orders.Overall the food was really good but the service was not. As far as Korean BBQ goes -at least in NorCal, far & few. So Ill take a franchise KBBQ house when I can. Especially if the price is fairly decent ($17-25/per person) for all you can eat meat (HUGE VARIETY). Pro tip- go easy on the rice & water, and eat light before coming to get some all you can eat KBBQ.I dont think they allow call in reservations, so for dinners & large parties be prepared to wait about 20-30mins, depending on your group size.Staff is nice & rarely need to check in with you. They take your orders down, change the grill, & refill as needed. In the midst of employees quitting their jobs, the hostess was lovely - she kept a positive attitude and a smile the WHOLE time. This lady deserves a raise.Honestly if I did not need to pay toll, this would probably be a once every 2 weeks thing.Okay Im getting hungry just writing about this. Really really bad service. We were sitting down for 20 minutes with no sides, no rice, no water, and not a single server asking us if we needed anything. We had to ask 4 servers that passed by for rice and side and even then it took another 20 minutes for them. Not one server checked up on us the whole time we were here. This place is ridiculous. Came here for the first time, hungry, with my kids on a week night, I thought kids were going to complain about having to cook their meals, but turned out they loved it! The service was great, they were courteous with the meat, sides and drinks refills. The meats were fresh. They were quick to change the grills in between. If I could give this business a zero star rating I would. Today ordered through Uber eats, which had always been consistently good on delivering great food until today when I ordered from Gen. Simple order, 2 orders of spicy pork and spicy chicken with rice and kimchi. First they didnt have the any of the meat I wanted but rather than contacting me through the app which is the easiest thing to do, they subbed meats that I cant eat. Also they only sent one order of the wrong thing, like how can you not tell you have 2 orders when the app basically tells you that. This is a great place to bring friends! It combines great tasting foods with the fun experience of cooking it yourself, with incredible drinks too! It is on the pricier side, but you definitely get more than what you pay for. The staff are helpful, friendly, and offer excellent suggestions. There is plenty of parking right next to the restaurant, and it is within a few minutes of I-680. Visited this restaurant for the first time this evening for my sisters bday. Our party did not arrive at the same time and Chris let us know that w/ our medium-large group, the wait may be a while. He went to look over his reservations and came back to let us know he could accommodate us prior to a large party reservation and sat us. He was friendly through the whole entire encounter and his customer service was so awesome! I just wanted to put it out there to recognize him for being so accommodating and reasonable! I love the Gen brand and the quality of food they produce. The service was a bit shaky being there first week open I think. Expect a huge wait as other Gens get packed really fast. I went there for lunch and it was filled to the brim. Overall a great experience, management needs to walk around and ask tables how they are doing to make sure people are getting waited on. Service throughout the night was poor, we kept having to remind them about our orders throughout the night. When the waiter put on the metal grill plate. I notice the plate was still wet. I used paper napkin to wipe the plate before it got hot. The napkin pickup burned oil and other residues (soap, …) It turned out the plate was not cleaned well. I informed the waiter. He then told me that the manager said: this is unavoidable unless they change to new plate. What do you think ? Do you want your meat on top of this greasy, soapy, unclean grill plate ?I believe many Korean BBQ restaurants also have this problem. I visited this location for the first time last week. Before going I was reading lots of reviews to kind of get an idea of what to expect. However, I felt that lots of reviews didnt do any justice! This place is SO BEAUTIFUL! I never experienced any issues. The food would come out the way I ordered it. Sometimes you may have to wait a little while, for example we would get 4 plates each time and maybe 2 would come out and about 10-20 mins later the other 2 would come out. I think its best for the table to order as many plates as possible each time so that you dont have to wait so long. Plus the waiter recommended the same thing. I loved the service we received and the food was fantastic! I most definitely will be returning!

Not bad for Concord. My favorite is still the location in Milpitas. Our party of 6 was seated fast in 35 min on a Friday night. We arrived before the rest of our group to check in and were told 75 min wait. My advise, stay put and dont walk away to kill time. 5 group were dropped from list so fast when they didnt respond after their name was announced twice.We sat down at 7 pm. We all had the complete dinner under $25 pp. We were told rice has to be cooked, they ran out. We got rice toward the end of our meal. So half of our party were too stuffed and done with eating. Food was delicious and service was friendly and attentive. However The kitchen needs help. I ordered squid and it never came. The waitress asked if I still wanted the squid when she brought out the rice toward the end. I cancelled because I was done eating. Its tough for the waiters when the kitchen could not keep up. I gave this location a 5 to stay positive and pray that the flow in the kitchen learn fast to dance fluidly with the rest of the staffs.

Gen is one of my favorite chains in the area. When we go, we order the brisket and the Hawaiian steak the most. There are a few weird options like the steak braised in wine, but most of the options are solid.
