Gen Korean BBQ House in Tustin

I love to cook and eat with friends, so I was excited to introduce Gen Korean BBQ to my friends. The restaurant is a casual Korean BBQ place with a wide variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables to cook at your table. I made a reservation in advance, as the restaurant is usually busy, especially on weekends.When we arrived, we were seated at a table with a built-in grill. We decided to start with the all-you-can-eat dinner menu, which includes 30 different items. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and explained how the all-you-can-eat menu worked. We started with a variety of side dishes, including soup, kimchi, pickled vegetables, salad, and edamame. The appetizers were delicious and helped to whet our appetites for the main course to be cooked.We were all excited to start cooking our own food, so we ordered a variety of vegetables, meats and seafood. Cooking our own food was a lot of fun, and it was great to be able to customize our dishes to our liking. Steamed rice was perfectly cooked and we topped the rice with grilled items. We also tried a variety of sauces, which added even more flavor to the food. We washed everything down with hot Saki.As we were cooking, we chatted and laughed, and it was a lot of fun to cook our own food together. We all had a great time at Gen Korean BBQ, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and fun dining experience with friends.

It was the first time I came here been wanting to come for some time. I made a reservation through yelp so we didn’t have to wait. Our server was very nice and brought everything out quickly and checked up on us a lot. I was very happy coming here and will visit again.

Quality of food has declined by a lot! KFC is now very cheap popcorn chicken probably bought from a grocery store. The spicy rice cake is like chewing on hard piece of plastic with no taste. Was not expecting this from Gen. They also brought our waters half way through eating. Ordered 2 salads, got 1, then the other after 15 minutes.They will lose their customers if they do not bring back the old food/menu and service!

Excellent service, great fresh food, and very clean. Highly recommended. Suggest coming in early for dinner.

My future visits are limited after coming to Gen almost every week for five years. I have spent thousands at Gen, and during almost every visit this and last year, I have been accompanied with nothing short of disrespectful waiters and untrained managers with inabilities to rectify situations. The last visit encountering Mark Bs dreadful behavior and Manager Kyle was the spark of this review. To keep this feedback short, eighty percent of the original employees that have been working here since they started have grown too comfortable with their jobs, where ill-mannered waiters, dishwashers improperly cleaning grills leaving past food educing cross-contamination, bussers leaving past food on the table and seat, and poorly trained managers, go unpunished. The employees at this location are unrestrained and have no regard for people spending money. The food here is absolutely comical since I originally came here. Days old noodles are presented to you in clumps as solid as a rock, and tofu soup comes out with no tofu with watered down broth. The downgraded small portioned meat is no exception either. Although I consider myself open-minded and can understand where certain areas in businesses dont shine such as the food, I at the very minimum do not appreciate being disrespected from servers such as Mark B., had did when he sarcastically told me I had broke a sun blind and did nothing when I politely requested him to help me close it during the last visit. I deal with a lot brain damaged people such as Mark B., and alike servers on a daily basis, but I am unable to teach employees at restaurants how to behave and to not treat customers with contempt. All these issues are at fault of the franchise owner and they hold full responsibility. Ive been far too lenient and theres a good reason why youll never see Koreans eating at this restaurant.

My family went to this location for dinner on Thursday night 11/2/23. We were seated at a table and received no acknowledgment for five minutes. Finally, somebody from the back had noticed us waiting impatiently, acknowledged us and went to get help. We ended up getting moved to a different table and had to wait again. at this point we were fed up and left. On the way out the receptionist told us “no worries”. Didn’t apologize or anything. In my opinion, it was a huge worry when we’ve been sitting at a table with no customer service at all. Poor management. Be better.

Great space with good food and great price! The service could be a little more better, but it was okay in general. The meats have pretty good quality, but I liked the briskets and pork meats the most. The chickens were not as tasty as we thought it would be. All the sides are delicious! If you haven’t checked out this place yet, make sure you do!

Wow.... this place is bad. It used to be smacking, but now.... Like really bad, like please do not go here ever again bad. Th

This place has changed. No hot sauce, ran out of radish wrap, and no cabbage KIMCHI - on a Saturday night… and we came early, at 5pm. Service was good, the staff is always very friendly and tried to help but seems like poor management to prepare for the night. The couple next to us also seemed bewildered by not offering banchan at time of sitting. They cut the time limit from 2 hours to 1.5 hours, but it took 15 minutes just to order and get drinks and any tiny bit of banchan. Everything was oily at the time of sitting and as they handed us plates/bill. The menu also changed, which threw us off but food quality was still good. I hope this gets better as it’s really the only local KBBQ around.

Maybe it’s because I live in garden grove but this is the worst kbbq I have ever had in my life lol never ever again. Save yourself and go somewhere else! The side dishes sucked and that’s how you know the rest will not be good.
