Most beautiful place to eat in La Jolla. But on top of the views, the food is absolutely perfect. The owners and servers take such good care of presenting the dining room and ensuring the cleanliness, elegance, and comfort. The servers are completely knowledgeable about the food, drinks, and wine. The food is presented in a magnificent manner and hot. We had the salmon tartar and the fish tacos. I had the most delicious hibiscus margarita. Simply perfect. This restaurant could accommodate large groups or small. Really wish we lived closer.

We went during restaurant week for lunch and enjoyed the relaxing ambiance and delicious food. The appetizers were all very good and portions just right. We liked the mussles and fried shrimp the best. In terms of entrees, the hamburger and chicken sandwich were good. The corn risotto was very odd in terms of the flavor, sweet and not salty. The texture was also a bit off, rather mushy. That was the dish I think we regretted ordering. Overall, we had an enjoyable meal. The La Jolla waterfront view from 2nd floor was gorgeous and we look forward to returning again!

So beautiful!!! My boyfriend and I had a table right at the edge of the restaurant. The sunset, the water, the wine, the atmosphere. Very romantic! The food is tasty, and there are plenty of choices! Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. Sorry, Im from Arizona so the pictures are all about the view!!!!

Had dinner on the roof top restaurant ! Amazing view of the LaJolla cove! Watched the seals and sea lions during dinner !Our entire family rates the restaurant a 10 ! The food was delicious ! We all had the flat iron steak, rigatoni pasta, lava cake dessert and espresso martini! All were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The outdoor heaters were perfect for the cool night. Definitely the best dinner of our trip ! Can’t wait to come back again !

My new favorite place! We were blown away by the view. You could hear the sea lions barking on the cove. The service was phenomenal, and the food and drinks were delicious! We had crispy shrimp, fish tacos, and sticky toffee pudding cake—all were amazing! Parking is easy and reasonable at the public valet next door. Staff were all above-and-beyond courteous and attentive, even with the 4th of July crowd rush. Be sure to make reservations! Can’t wait to visit again!

Great place to eat lunch, we visited last week and loved it. We ordered the cucumber salad, crispy shrimp, tuna sandwich and fish tacos. My favorite dish was definitely the shrimp, accompanied by sweet yellow chili peppers that complement the dish spectacularly and a tartar sauce that highlights the flavor of the shrimp very well. The dishes are generous in size, so we ended up satisfied before finishing all the dishes. This restaurant definitely has the best view you can find in the La Jolla area. I recommend accompanying the dishes with an ice cold beer to further enrich the experience. The kindness of the waiters will make us come back again.

We were recommend to go to George’s at the Cove by two people in Texas when they heard we were visiting so we made our reservations a month in advance online. We did need to make a change, when we called the person helping us was very helpful and had more options available for us to choose from. The food was superb. Our favorite was the smashed cucumber salad followed by the seared rare local yellowtail. There is a lift on site for those that have mobility issues. If you can get a spot on the edge of the terrace we highly recommend it but the whole terrace is lovely. There are heaters.

Both the Jidori Airline Chicken and Rigatoni dishes were outstanding. Also recommend the Warm Chocolate Cake for dessert.Shout out to the reservation staff for calling when they had an opening. Our original reservation was for 8:15pm, but when 6:30 opened up we were able to enjoy both dinner and the Pacific sunset from the Level2 open air balcony. Thank you!!’

Had to bring my family back to George’s at the Cove. Kids loved it! Great photos for everyone and even better food. We enjoyed the seafood and the nice views. Sea lions below if you have time after your meal. Good fun all around.

Delicious meal and excellent views! A bit difficult to find parking. But you get great views of the La Jolla Beach and the seals/sea lions. Super cute place. Recommend coming down here for the sunset views - and reserve the outdoor terrace!

Noisy place with great views of the sunsets at La Jolla. Try and get upstairs for best views. There is seating at the lower deck but the views are constrained with a feeling of being closed given the glass windows that did not open when we were there. Food is okish. The drinks are overpriced.

Like most tourists visiting LaJolla I like to pretend Im wealthy too so I frequent Georges to take in the awesome ocean view and the skinny blonde ladies drinking wine spritzers. The fish tacos are good and the least expensive on the menu.When Im done its back to New Jersey and reality.

I booked the premium ocean terrace seating for $300. $50 to hold the table and the other $250 to use towards our bill. Celebrating my husbands birthday and wanted to do something nice. We got to the restaurant, checked in and had 20 minutes until our reservation. Got a drink at the bar and realized… we could have just damn well sat open seating at the bar and not paid $300! I WAS SO UPSET. You had a view of the ocean from any table. Everyone was dressed casual and in beach wear. The food was okay and not worth the hype of fine dining cuisine. My steak ordered was medium rare and came out medium to medium well.All around, if I came back, I’m gonna sit at the bar. Don’t spend the money on the premium seating.First picture is table. Food was excellent. Limited menu so each meal made with love. I got the shrimp linguini meal and it had a little kick to it which was great. The sangria was also good, its made there.Service was meh. Impressed. We had reservations at the rooftop terrace for 4:30 today. We received a phone call from the restaurant at 1:00pm, notifying us that the rooftop would be weather permitting, and they offered us a table downstairs. Such a thoughtful and appreciated phone call!When we arrived, the rain had not started yet, and we were able to sit outside- husband, wife, 2 & 4yo. Incredible view.The kids crushed their salmon and broccoli- a refreshing meal after several days in Disneyland. Adults had the swordfish, steak, & side of fries for the table. Drinks: Margherita and old fashions. Finished with a cappuccino and a brownie/coconut ice cream as dessert for the table. All were phenomenal, flavorful, well prepared, & perfect serving temps. We are foodies, and this was all superb.To top it off, Hank our server, was a complete joy to have as our company. Kind, humorous, attentive, & thoughtful. He was knowledgeable about the menu, & ensured ideal food arrival times for a family with young children (kids meal out first). He was so refreshing, and unlike many, has mastered the art of conversation. Thank you, Hank, for helping us have such a relaxed, wonderful vacation evening!

You can sometimes hear the sea lions from Point La Jolla, which I lovedRooftop seating reservations were pretty easy to book on Opentable. I recommend the guac and pastas! When I visited The Cove at La Jolla I decided to visit this place too, I arrived a little later than usual for lunch, and unfortunately, the kitchen had already closed. However, the staff offered me a seat at the bar where I could enjoy some drinks and appetizers. Despite the kitchen being closed, the breathtaking view of the Cove made up for it. The service was exceptional, with the staff being attentive and quick to ensure that I was comfortable and satisfied with my experience, despite the busy crowd that day. Overall, this place offers a wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent service, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area.

Very over-rated place with poor service and lackluster food.We went for lunch on a weekday and I was expecting a good experience. Sadly that was not the case.The food we ordered was not properly cooked, or served hot.The service was very poor. There were only 12 customers in the restaurant, and the waitress didnt pay any attention to us, and seemed to resent it when we asked for a drink after the food was served.I would have expected better since there were so few customers.When the bill came I gave the waitress a $100 bill for our $78 total. The waitress informed me that they couldnt provide any change citing a policy the restaurant had of not using cash due to covid concerns. I asked if they would accept the $100 note and she said of course they would. Really?Anyway, Im not going back even if Im not paying after that nonsense.

Everybody knows the Cove, THE Cove at La Jolla, was a crowded place you can seldom find a parking slot.I visited the Cove several times, once with my family, once with my parents, once with my family and MIL, and also once with my daughter she had a room at the Cove and stayed there for several days for her UCSD final examination. That time, I mean I sent my daughter there to the hotel, and we were the only two people who wore the masks at the beach, it was weird, but we do scare off the pandemic.Guess what, I got a parking spot recently, just in front of the restaurant called Ocean Terrace at Georges at the Cove, just in front of it.I went there with my daughter at my girlfriends friends invitation. We walked up the stairs and sat at the top of the ceiling and I dont know what was underneath. On the rooftop, the weather was so good even in November. Little windy but still warm under the sunshine, we did some chat and enjoy the food.Its a casual and relaxed weekend morning at the restaurant, or maybe not the weekend but it gave me the feeling of a weekend. We just hung out there, ate food, and did chatting.The food was good, we had mussels, tacos, and hamburgers. I asked the waiter to cut the hamburger into two pieces and eventually, I got two plates with full fries, full onion, and tomato with a half burger, thats so good service. The patties I wanted medium, it was just the point of the raw medium with a little blood, I love it.I have to say its good, especially at the Cove, a tourist point that can provide so good food at a normal price, Good!

Beautiful view of La Jolla and Scripps… the yellowtail is always really good and some of the lunch food on our last visit, was disappointing! We were very surprised by the crispy chicken sandwich on lunch menu, it didn’t state it was an “Asian” style flavored chicken on it, and were expecting a crispy sandwich but was very surprised by the thick sweet sauce, sesame flavor on the breading and the fries were stale. We just wanted a regular crispy chicken sandwich 🥲 So that was overwhelming and misleading :(As always we ordered the signature vodka cocktails, pretty good.

A beautiful setting in La Jolla to enjoy the sunset. Service was top notch and extremely attentive. We enjoyed the jerk octopus as it balanced the right right amount of spice with cream sauce. The parmesan fries were decent but nothing extraordinary. I was slightly underwhelmed by the swordfish as the flavor was overpowered by whatever broth they prepared it with. I would return to try other dishes but probably will stay away from the swordfish again.

Overall, it is an enjoyable dining experience. While the menu doesnt creatively excite, the dishes served were well cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and attentive. Be certain to wrap up warm if you are dining on the top level after sunset. During my visit the restrooms were not available and we had to walk to the sister restaurant next door to use their facilities.

Great restaurant 5 minutes walking from The Cove in La Jolla. We dined in their 2nd floor bar and restaurant . This is my rare 5 star. Cool place on the ocean…inviting and clean. Intimate but informal. We had the crispy shrimp and Guacamole & Salsa to start, both were excellent. We shared a chicken entree and scallop entree, both were TOP NOTCH. Our server was personable and attentive. The mgr came to chat a bit. Even the black courant iced tea was outstanding. This was a homerun.

I’m so so disappointed by this experience. We came here 5 year old and we loved here. And I saw George’s at the Cove joins restaurant week, so we come here with our friends for this special experience. But they don’t take Restaurant Week serious at all, the service is super slow and unprofessional. The foods are so so, they are not bad, but definitely not the level as I remembered at this restaurant. My friends fish taco is very dry, I think the street fish tacos probably taste better. And the most thing disappointed us are the cocktails, they are not cheap, all like $15,$16, but we double they put any alcohol in it?! I mean, maybe because it’s during the restaurant week, so they lower their quality? But they just lost me and my friends from their future clients list. Plus their bath is very dirty.

This is definitely the one and only patio to visit when in LA Jolla. We stumbled on this place by accident, and I came back twice, and then brought someone, and they came back twice. This is our second time here. After Covid, this place seemed to need some improvement on its service. I guess it’s hard to get people to work in the restaurant business nowadays. Our waitress was the only one serving the entire second floor. So it took a bit of time for her to come around to us to take the orders. After the orders were placed, it took another long time before the food came out.Despite all the waiting, foods were amazing. I probably had the best burger I have had for awhile. The beef patty was cooked to medium well just as I had ordered and the sauce was so tasty. I finished the whole thing along with the delicious and crispy French fries.Spaghetti with clam was delectable. Loved the Al dente pasta and the locally sourced clams were so fresh.We also had a focaccia bread for appetizer. The bread wowed us as well. Overall. The foods were fantastic and deserved a 5 star rating. But service needs some improvement. I can feel for them with the COVID situation.Parking was horrendous. We had to park our car about half mile away.

Unfortunately our outdoor terraza reservation was canceled due to rain but George’s gave us plenty of notice and moved us inside to their best table by the window. The service was terrific and the food/drinks did not disappoint. Mojitos were delicious with just the right amount of rum. The burrata and guacamole apps, fish tacos, and crème brûlée were all delicious! Just needed more tortilla chips with the guacamole. Can’t wait to return on a sunny day so we can enjoy the outdoor ocean view!

Went here for a quick lunch and for the vibes everyone has been raving about online. I got the fried chicken sandwich ($16) and my wife got the Grain Bowl ($17). I was not impressed with my sandwich. The chicken was very thick so i didnt feel like it was cooked right. It was very wet and kind of chewy so I couldnt eat it. I was only able to eat about 1/3 of it before feeling sick. My wife was Egh about her bowl as well. Overall, I would say this is more of a vibe spot rather than a tasty food spot. Also, they add a 4% sure-charge as like a tip then add another 22% tip at the end of the meal. Just something to bring up. I believe theyre in business more for the vibes rather than the food.Not sure if I would come again.

We were lucky to get a table here, fills up very fast around sunset, even on a Monday. The view is fantastic, that’s definitely what you come here for. The food is good, but not worth the price. You can find better food at cheaper places down the street, but it’s hard to find a better view.I ordered the duck confit which was really good, but every other dish we ordered was just decent. If I come here again, it’d be for drinks during the sunset.

I was on vacation, so this visit was actually on Aug 18th, just hadnt found the time to leave a review until now. I should mention Im from the East coast so the prices out here are abhorrently awful and took some getting use too.We started with drinks at the bar because they werent open for dinner yet. I about died at the cocktail prices. My drink was just okay, I dont remember the name. My friends drink was made incorrectly, she wanted a dirty martini, it wasnt dirty. The wait staff was very prompt in fixing the drink. The other 2 in our group were happy with their drinks. We sat on the balcony over looking the cove, view was amazing.I dont remember the name of our waiter, but he said he was originally from Alabama. Im not sure if he was subconsciously doing it, but the more he spoke to us the more southern he sounded lol, but he was really great and funny and quick with the wit. Definitely made the whole experience enjoyable.On to the food. We got the octopus, parmesean fries and focaccia bread as appetizers. It wasnt a good start in the Im impressed with the food vs price category. Quite the opposite. They give you 2 octopus tentacles and a lot of filler. I dont eat fish, others at the table said it was delicious, but over all very disappointed at the portion size. The fries were $17.. yikes. They were akin to Steak and Shake fries sprinkled with parmesean and other seasonings. Just dont, youll cry at just how ridiculous the whole idea is. The focaccia bread was delicious, highly recommend!Entrees, I dont remember what all we got, see pictures. One person got a quinoa type salad - it was delicious and the portion size was on point for the price. Next person got the salmon, I personally felt like the salmon itself was small or dwarfed in proportion from the size of the plate, but Im told it was very good and the flavor combination of the salmon and bed of chick peas was very interesting. I got the chicken breast over blackened rice, again the different flavors was very fun, but I felt like my chicken was a little dry. The black rice was fabulous though! The last dish I dont remember, but he devoured it like it was heaven on earth. The entrees all around sealed the deal and it was a good note to end on.

I proposed to my wife 10 years ago and brought her here. We were full of sand and underdressed and the table next to us asked my wife if I just proposed to her and she said yes. We were 6 women in town for a 50th birthday celebration. The view was unbelievable, the food was delicious, and our server was great. Our only issue was managing our reservation. We called to reserve the VIP seating option where you pay in advance for a table along the ocean wall, but the staff to whom we spoke 3 different times declined to take payment. When we arrived for our reservation, they had a VIP table along the glass wall available, but then nearly gave it away to another birthday party. Since they offer the VIP option, they should prep their staff to manage it. Highly recommend this restaurant.

There are things I like about Georges but its not really my top choice in La Jolla. First off the view on the ocean terrace is great, but then again, the view is great at every place along the Cove. I also heard level 2 had happy hour but their happy hour menu is pretty lackluster so skip that. I did really enjoy the mussels but the rest of the menu didnt really entice me so we ended up going to a different place after a few drinks and appetizer. I dont mind paying for quality but I do think their prices (aka $16 for chips and guacamole) are pretty steep especially when there are better options around.

Youre paying for the view.I made premium reservations for my mother in laws birthday.The perks of making the reservation was nice, we did have a fantastic view and even had a champagne toast with the reservation.The service was okay - our server was absent a bit but some of that came from us chit chatting for a bit in the beginning. My father in law waited so long for sugar and ice for his iced tea that had melted I ended up having to go ask the hostess to grab some sugar and ice.He was nice, but I feel like prepaying for our time there made us not as much of a priority since I had already included a 20% tip.The food was decent. The burger was pretty bland and nothing special, the fish tacos were decent, halibut burger was good and the quesadilla was okay.We shared a a warm chocolate cake for dessert which was delicious.My mother in law got a little complimentary olive oil for her birthday and I felt that was an awesome touch.All in all, its a good place. I personally found it a bit mediocre but you really are paying for the view and I think thats worth it.Taking price into consideration, it isnt absurd. I paid about $200 for the reservation which included $100 food credit, table fee ($50) and a 20% gratuity. We added on an extra $11 from our food credit - so for four people it wasnt terrible since $50 of it was just the premium reservation to begin with.

One of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. It has it all: excellent food, great service, nice wine list and of course, a spectacular view. Grilled cauliflower was light yet layered with flavors: smokey, sweet and peppery with just the right amount of saltiness from capers and crunch from almonds. The halibut sandwich was light and crispy with a nice aioli. The tomato and cucumber gazpacho was delicious and refreshing. Coconut layer cake was flavorful without weighing you down.

The food tasted amazing!! I ordered the roasted half chicken whole my friend bought the lasagna. We ended with a warm chocolate cake for dessert. Our dessert was frozen cold when we first received it, but after I mentioned it to our server, they switched it out right away and brought over a delicious cake. There are three floors, which are all different. The bottom floor is closed with window views of the ocean, second floor has open windows while the top floor is open all around. If youre trying to get a good view, go during the day since you cant see much at night.

Cant say enough good things about this place. The experience starts strong right from the beginning with a beautiful entrance into the building. I sat on the Ocean Terrace which has gorgeous outdoor dining.The service was spectacular and the food exceed my expectations. I started with the Grilled Octopus. Awesome presentation and incredible flavor. Then I had the halibut which was buttery and flavorful. Finally, I finished with the Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake. My server mentioned that it was the only original dessert menu item that is still on the menu from the 80s, so I had to give it a try. I can see why it has been on there for so long! Absolutely delicious.Servers recommended all of my food and she hit the nail on the head across the board. Will be coming back again.

There are big views and then there are really BIG views. George’s has the latter… wow!! To sit on the edge and see over it all….snorkelers, seals, sea lions and the ocean. That’s not my usual lunch view. We signed up in advance for a reserved table… a special day for us, to ensure a great seat. Was it worth it… probably was!!! Not for every day, but that special seating was a memory!!! The food, the service, the pricing, all reasonable… but the view… won’t forget that!!!!

If I could give this place 10 stars I really would, everything from the service to the food to the view was spectacular. My boyfriend and I came here for our one year anniversary and they hooked us up with complimentary champagne. We ordered the scallops and the shrimp pasta, it was so good much recommend. Our waitress was literally the best she was super friendly and so attentive. All in all a great experience.

My fiancé and I had a lovely evening at George’s at the Cove. Definitely make reservations and show up 5 - 10 minutes early because they seat you in order of checking in. We opted to wait for a seat along the glass wall, which gave us wonderful sunset views.Drinks were wonderful. The citrus spritz pictured wasn’t my favorite but highly recommend the mojito and the mule.We started with the mussels, which had such great flavor. The grilled bread was perfect for soaking up the juice but wish there had been more.We split the rock crab linguini. I loved the delicate flavor because it didn’t overshadow the crab. However, my fiancé felt like it lacked flavor and seasoning. Overall, a great experience!

Our group of 3 were planning to order 3 rigatonis but he suggested splitting the food for us so we can get 3 different dishes so we can try everything! Wonderful experience 10/10 . The staff, food and location was amazing! We came here this past Sunday to celebrate my moms birthday, when I called to make a reservation I spoke to IRELAND who helped me out over the phone. I mentioned if we could get a table as close as possible to the ocean viewing that would be great and although seating against the glass is a little more reserved for parties of 4, she said she would leave a note to see if we could possibly snag a good table when we show up. When we got there the hostess walked us over to the BEST table on the corner of the restaurant against the glass for our family. The view was so amazing i forgot to take a pic, but you could see everything! KATIE P was our server and she was too was amazing. She was kind and attentive, our drinks and food came out shortly after ordering and just overall my mom had a wonderful birthday.

My wife and I came in for our three year wedding anniversary. We made reservations, got dressed up, and even though we didnt get seated at the window tables we still found our view to be delightful. We started with call drinks (Btw having a signature whiskey drink that isnt mixed with orange something would be nice) Caeser salad was fresh and the croutons are awesome. Wife had rigatoni, I had steak & fries. Both were good (hoped the steak would have deeper flavor), and would be worth ordering again. Dessert was creme brulee and a 10 yr port. Both were EXCELLENT. I feel like the only thing we missed was the standard of dress we used to see in these restaurants growing up. We ate next to people in sweatshirts with hoods on, slippers, Yoga pants, and gym clothing. I suppose for some people its nice to see others not making reservations or even getting dressed up get preferred window seating, but I guess I was raised old school with dress codes and a reservation list comes first attitude.

Wow I really enjoyed this place when visiting friends and family in San Diego. Go up to the upper level where you can sit outside under the umbrellas and get an amazing view of the cove. If you’re lucky enough to get a table right by the outside or if you wait a while it’s well worth it!The food was good quality and the prices are decent considering the number of servers there.Parking in La Jolla is always a challenge so if you don’t mind paying $10 plus a tip, you can use the valet parking at George’s (no validation).In all I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to revisit!

Went on a Wednesday night. Got nice seating with a view of the coves. Appetizers were good, but smaller portions than what Im used to. My son said his food was not hot but cold. The servicer was nice but did not offer refills on any of our glasses. My wife ended up passing me her glass. Ive been here a few times over the last 30 years. Now I remember why its not on the top of our list of places for dinner. TBH, I will go to the Brigantine in Del Mar before Georges anytime soon. As a photo tip, to get a good picture with the coves in the back, try coming while the sun is still up. Otherwise, its way too dark to see the water at all.

What a wonderful place in all these years it has not changed 1 bit. The first time my wife and I went was our first valentine before we were married 21 years ago and it was excellent then as it was this time.The only thing that I did not like was that online it shows that they are open from 11am to 10pm sering lunch and dinner but nowhere does say that lunch is from 11 to 2:30 with dinner starting at 4 to 10. I thought it was going to be optional to select either from the lunch or dinner menu. We arrived between the 2 and could not get seated until dinner time or they offered for us to sit at the bar and have from the appetizers menu which we did not want to do. So we walked around town for about an hour and went back. I think they should clarify the menu hours so people know.We still give them 5 stars ⭐.

Mostly fish dishes with a turkey panini and a burger being our options other then salad. I would have liked brunch items since it was late morning on Sunday.Having said that the food we ordered was delicious. This is a must stop in the La Jolla area. My wife and I were able to have lunch here with an Ocean view, and the food did not disappoint! First, the staff was very friendly and helpful. You could tell they cared about you having a good time. Second, the view is AMAZING! You can never beat eating a good meal looking at the ocean and feeling the breeze. We ordered the Open Faced BLTA and the Fish Tacos. Both meals were very filling. The Fish Tacos were some of the best Ive ever had. So meaty, fresh, and lots of flavor. The sandwich was made with some top notch ingredients and that made the simple sandwich really good. The next time were in town we will be stopping by again :).

This is a classic seaside ocean view restaurant at surrounded by lots of art galleries. Its actually have some pretty good vegetarian options on the menu. The mocktail was quite refreshing.The hostesses and our waitress seemed a bit harried and not super friendly but I noticed other waiters were being very friendly.The reason for the 1 star review is for the greed of the ownership. They add a “5% to keep the lights on and pay our staff” surcharge (tax). If you need to raise prices, raise prices on the menu items and let the laws of supply and demand work. They are already charging $22 for an Old Fashioned so I don’t see why they need to raise the prices…they are jumping on the surcharge bandwagon that has taken place. These surcharges only hurt the wait staff’s tips, because instead of my typical 18-20% I leave 5% less.

First off, the view was amazing. I don’t think there’s any other restaurant that has a better view than George’s. You can see the whole La Jolla Cove and miles out to the ocean. I have eaten at George’s many times on my trips to SD but am deeply troubled about my treatment on my last visit. I had a very short vacation and drove up from Coronado to La Jolla to eat and watch the sunset at George’s. When I arrived I was told there were no tables. I looked confused at all the empty tables by the glass - there were more empty than were seated. I politely asked if there were so many open tables why he was not seating. The rude host told me that those tables had reservations in over an hour and they were holding those tables for other people. I said I’m happy to just get a drink and appetizer and leave before those reservations I’m really just here on a very short trip to watch the sunset and enjoy a drink and food. He snapped at me that that was entree seating only. I said ok I had planned to eat ENTREE & apps (plus drinks) anyway and he said that I could sit at the bar. Disappointed I asked him if I could be put on a waitlist. He really didn’t want to do that and made it obvious but he did. I went and sat at the bar - the only one in an almost empty restaurant. The bartender could tell I was troubled and asked if I was ok. I told him that I was trying to get a table and I didn’t understand why I couldn’t be seated when more tables were empty than taken and there was plenty of staff working that area. He went and talked to the host and apologized. He said he’s young and i don’t understand it either. He said that when a table left he would clean it himself and seat me. I sat there for over an hour and watched the sunset little by little through the bar with tears in my eyes. Once it was dark I left the restaurant as there was no use waiting any longer for a sunset dinner seat. None of those tables ever showed up and those tables sat empty. I got a text about 20 minutes later a table was ready which means more reservations didn’t show up. Not only did this restaurant lose money holding tables open during a peak time but they lost a long term customer. I was deeply hurt and disappointed by this young man’s heartlessness and carelessness. He was not kind and he should not be the first experience. If it weren’t for the view there would be no reason to go here. I cried over this and wasted an entire night of my short vacation on this experience which I’ll never get back. If you’ve read this long I recommend walking next door to Eddie V’s or La Valencia where they are kind, welcoming and happy to help you view the sunsets over great drinks and food. Kindness matters and this place doesn’t care about people or their feelings. Shame. The host here should be fired, not only does he not understand or care that restaurants should be turning over tables to make money but he doesn’t understand that he’s a representation of this business and not a good one.

My husband and I come here for every celebration and once in a while just to treat ourselves. We request Parham as often as possible, because hes the best and most thoughtful waiter weve ever had. At this point we cant even call him a waiter because we see him as a friend. If the outstanding service wasnt enough, the food and drinks are to die for, literally. We would pick Georges as our last meal. Weve never had the same thing twice and each meal is more enchanting than the last. If we could afford to eat here more regularly, we would. Spectacular views with prices to match. Our family came for their prefix six course menu priced at $110 per person not including the bread. While the server was nice and attentive, the supporting staff that delivered and explained the food had terrible attitudes. Each dish was tasty but the portion size was too small. Food came out at the right times and while we waited, our beverages kept us upbeat. The mens restroom was a surprise to us because it was located on the second floor where the bar was. It was noisy, cramped, people yelling over each other to be heard, and it did not fit the theme for the higher class restaurant on the first floor. This was a poor management decision. Food was definitely good and it left a good impression, but for the price and staff attitudes, it wasnt worth it.

I got to be honest, I had waited a long time to finally get here and weirdly. I was totally disappointed, and my husband felt the same. It was in the later evening. The octopus was good, but the rest was just OK. The service was nothing to brag about and their extra 5% surcharge is absolutely ridiculous. They’re just taking away from the tips of their servers and it’s nonsense. Their bathrooms and the hallways Dash staircase going down to the restroom were filthy and I was surprised that the hygiene of the place was definitely below average. For being something that used to be considered a hotspot, they need to do some reevaluating. I don’t think I’ll be going back.

I was hoping based on the rating to get above 4 star treatment but it was very different.To begin with the hostess asked us if we are ordering food, if not we can sit at the bar open seating. I found it first time and very weird that kind of policy. What if we change our mind and want to eat, will you move us.We ordered drinks, Bloody Mary and margarita and none of the drinks came with napkins or straws had to ask for it explicitly.PS- I wish I had my camera on would have posted the picture. The bar preparation center was right in front to where we were sitting and noticed one of the bar tender saw a hair in on of the drinks, took it out and let the drinks go. I really wish I could have seen it before ordering would have left.Overall super hyped place. I would avoid it, especially when it comes to food and drinks safety.

I was looking forward to celebrating my parents 35th anniversary here! I called to see if we could be seated at a table by the glass (they offer premium seating for parties of 4, but mine is a party of 5), and they told me they don’t reserve tables and they couldn’t make any exceptions. I didn’t mind paying extra to include the extra guest. The hostess on the phone was not helpful and didn’t offer any other solutions, ending the call by saying everyone has anniversaries. Then abruptly hung up the phone. I found that response to be very rude and poor customer service. I canceled my reservation and thankfully found another restaurant that was more than happy to help make my parents anniversary dinner a special occasion.

I think Georges has some great potential to be flawless. I did the chefs tasting which is $120 per person. For La Jolla thats a great price. Ive been to many places where its more and of course less. I typically never leave a chefs tasting hungry anymore as most chefs have learned people want a little extra food. That was not the case here. Overall many of the dishes were executed flawlessly however a few of them were lacking the fine details that I expected to be perfect and the final desert was just not good at all, well I take that back half of it was good, half of it did not belong in the bowl whatsoever. By the time you have a few drinks you are at $380 for 2 people and I felt pretty meh about the over all meal. Ive been to many restaurants in La Jolla with a smaller tab and left much more satisfied. This rating is four stars however their whiskey pricing is so absolutely disgusting that I took a star off. To say that the pricing is highway robbery is an understatement. Its literally the most ridiculous pricing Ive ever seen in my entire life and whoever set those prices should be ashamed of their selves, what an absolute ripoff.

My wife and I visited this restaurant several months ago. But if you are going during the prawn season, I highly recommend this as a starter. They were cooked perfectly. The best way to describe prawns are a sweeter taste, almost like lobster, but with the texture of shrimp. Then for our main courses we had the Rohan duck and braised beef cheeks. Both did not disappoint! I am not a huge fan of duck, but this dish was highly satisfying. However, one of the best features of the restaurant was the view from our seat, even with a building rooftop in the view we were very happy to spend the evening with dinner and a west coast sunset. Do not hesitate to try this restaurant because we will definitely be back on our next trip to San Diego!

My wifes friend made a reservation at this restaurant because we were going to go on a kayaking tour near there. This was supposedly a popular restaurant in La Jolla. Our plan was to eat here at 12pm so that we could have enough time to make it for our 2:30pm kayaking excursion.My wifes friend and her husband were driving from Orange County and my wife and I were coming from San Bernardino County.When my wife and I arrived at 11:50am (10 minutes BEFORE our reservation) they would NOT allow us to be seated unless all 4 in our party were there. But they said we could go to the bar and wait if we wanted. As if Im going to spend extra money on this establishment that just inconvenienced us because of a ridiculous policy? I dont think so.My wife and I were hungry and probably would have ordered appetizers while we were waiting for our friends to arrive, but we just stood there and waited until our friends showed up. At 12:20, our friends finally arrived and they didnt even have our table ready that we reserved. We waited another 10 minutes and Im beyond annoyed at this point because my wife I were starving.Also, when my wifes friend made the reservation, we requested a seat with a view of the ocean. They sat us on the side which had an indirect view of the ocean but a direct view of a beautiful roof of a building next to us (sarcasm). You can see a photo that I attached here. So we asked why we couldnt get an ocean view and they said those seats are for PAID reservations. They never told us that before.After sitting down, we got served by a middle aged woman that wasnt friendly and had no people skills whatsoever. She wasnt awful but her nonchalant attitude just added to the charm of this place.The food was the only thing that saved this from being one of my worst experiences ever. The burger was excellent in my opinion. My wife had the fish tacos and they looked pretty good to me although my wife said they were just okay. My wifes friend had risotto and she was happy with it and her husband had the linguine with clams which looked really good. The only main problem was that it wasnt filling enough for him. Overall, however, the food was pretty good.When we left, no one said a word to us such as Thanks for coming! or anything else like that. All of the staff have a care-free and unfriendly attitude which we noticed from the beginning to the end.To sum up my experience here: The food is good and the views are awesome (if you pay for it) but it seems like they only care when wealthy people frequent this place. If youre just an average customer, dont expect to be treated with any ounce of respect.

The chicken sandwich batter was crispy which is impressive considering it was covered in wet sauce. The sauce was so good, subtly sweet and earthy. The parmesan fries were pretty good. The mussels were incredible; perfectly savory and creamy. I kept the sauce when we were done and dipped my sandwich and fries in it because it was so good, lol.More impressive than the view and the food, though, was our server Brittany. We walked in the Ocean Terrance and were told by Brad the bartender we could sit at the table we wanted in the corner (pictured; he said it was all open seating at this time on a Sunday, 2:30pm). A server brought us menus and took our drink order, then after about 10 minutes of waiting and looking over the menu, a gentleman came over and told us we were not on the waiting list and didnt have at least 5 people in our group to qualify for this table (we were 3). THEN he tried to sell us on a table in the corner of the bar area as the best seat in the house, table #65. IT HAD HALF AN OBSTRUCTED VIEW!!! When we walked into the place, the bar was completely empty and by the time we were asked to move the bar was now half full and all the best seats were taken. Thats a no for me, dogg. So we left. No more Georges for us. Too many other restaurants in our fine city that wouldnt of treated us that way.

I am a local and a huge foodie! I have been to pretty much every restaurant in SD, and Ive never been inclined to leave a review until today. We had reservations to celebrate my 34th birthday, Thiago was our sever. From the beginning he was uninterested, taking 10-15 mins to come to our table. As time progressed, it became apparent that every table was getting checked on except ours. We were one of the last tables left after lunch, not once did he come check in, we always had to hunt him down. He would deliberately walk by our table and look away, while spending a long time at the tables next to us always circling back to them. The only difference between my family and those other tables is that we werent white. Being a psychotherapist it became very apparent that we were being discriminated. It was disheartening to experience this, especially celebrating such a special birthday. I live in Del Mar and have never experienced this type of treatment. I had higher expectations of this place and expected their staff to be culturally competent. I have a very privileged life (thank God) and refuse to give my business/ money to a restaurant where their staff discriminates their customers. In addition, subject my children to this type of treatment. We still gave the server Thiago a 21% tip, because I consider myself a generous human-being. He stood there waiting on the wireless checkout kiosk then walked away. No thank you, no smile, no nothing!Please save your money if you are a family of color and go spend those $400 on another restaurant that will appreciate your business, I would hate for any minority to have a similar experience!!!!

We went on a weekday, early afternoon. The view is fantastic. You can see the view from anywhere on the terrace. The food was good I thought and priced okay. They sort of have a range with appetizers $12.00 appetizers to $35.00 salmon. Was it overpriced? Yes. $18.00 burger, country club prices, decent portions. We were seated at a table where the sun was directly in my eyes. We couldnt even see each other. The waiter was so so until he started making lots of comments loudly about me asking to move when I asked to be moved, talking about how the sun moves too suggesting Im going to continually ask to move? I first asked to bend the umbrella a bit. Just not a good idea to try and humiliate your customers publicly. Its a simple solution- get another umbrella. The umbrellas dont bend evidently to adjust coverage. Maybe some people dont care, but I enjoy looking at my familys faces and talking to them. There were three open tables, two on the side of the ocean and one in the back. There were two with a reservation sign on them. Whats that about? He wanted to move us to the back. I thought that was rude. I asked for one of the other tables. He said he had to go ask in case there was a reservation. I had a reservation and had asked to be seated along the side but they didnt do. It was all sort of weird. The waiters/waitresses seemed moody. He did come back and let us move, still making comments out loud. I wouldnt go back again. It was stressful. I couldve gotten food anywhere and sat in a multitude of locations and enjoyed a similar view. Were in La Jolla. He never mentioned a kids menu and didnt explain the menu well so I ended up with a really small 2x2 piece of salmon on my salad instead a normal piece of salmon you usually get and I saw the lady next to me get, (or was it deliberate?), with a different salad, theres a 4% surcharge on top of the orders and the lowest option for tips is %18. All of his comments certainly didnt deserve %18. It feels like service has gotten worse, but prices and tipping has gone up.

Jason at the bar and Alyssa on the deck took great care of us. I recommend their Sangria and Big Bleu (a dirty titos vodka martini with bleu cheese olives). My wife had the shrimp salad, which she loved, and I had the heirloom tomato salad with added steak! Loved it!

Fantastic food, amazing views! We were there for a corporate event and had the 2nd level from where you can see the seals at La Jolla cove; watch people walking around or swimming in the cold Pacific Ocean, while eating some yummy appetizers. Great location to watch the sunset, too, when not cloudy as it was when we were there.

Awesome views and atmosphere. The grain bowl I got had some many delicious veggies and the grains by far the best seasons.

Thanksgiving day 2019. Got into town this morning at 8am. Found that the food at the hotel just was not going to do. Found this area on google maps but most of the restaurants that claimed to be open were closed. Found this place and wow. Got our own table looking out over the sea. Watching the waves come in. Sitting under a heater(it’s mid 50’s out tonight)! Such great staff! And the food is outstanding. If you’re into that sort of thing really look at the customized floral cocktail book. Sure to make a great conversation piece on your coffee table since you can take it home for a small fee.

View 5 stars. Food while reasonably priced considering location was mediocre at best( 3/5). Service ok. Parking in la Jolla is tough but used their valet. $12 for 6 hours. But need to reserve the parking as well as meal ahead. Solid drink selection ad well

The food was excellent. The staff was very freindly the views were spectacular. I really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. I would highly recommend this place.
