I wasnt even that hungry but I finished everything I was given because it all tasted so wonderful.I dont even like olives but I happily ate all the ones that came with my salad.The bread came with a peculiar green dipping sauce. I was dubious of the sauce but it actually tasted amazing, as did the bread.The chicken with the chicken kebob... before you even taste it youre met with a wonderful charred aroma, and the flavor is even better.I only left off a star for service because the wait staff was pretty scarce even though I was the only person there, and they didnt take away finished plates as they were finished... but no big deal.Same with atmosphere. No music, shabby interior, but theyre making the most of what they have. Again, not a big deal. The place is clean and the food is good, thats what really matters (hence 5 stars!).

Just dined at this halal gem, and I must say their portions, both main dishes and appetizers, are incredibly generous! Service was brisk and our food arrived in no time. One thing to note: theres a distinctive aroma when you first enter, possibly from the spices they use, but you quickly adjust and it becomes a non-issue. The owner was especially gracious, adding a personal touch to our dining experience. Well certainly be returning for more

Halal sign is posted on several places in the restaurant and clearly on their website. We tasted Bolani and Combo plate and both of the items were so delicious though. We also want spicy and their food isn’t that spicy but flavorful indeed. Plenty of dining space even for a big family. Only the parking was a little bit difficult because it’s street parking. Overall recommended. ☺️

I ordered take out here and wish I had some time to dine in. This place looks really chill. The lamb was cooked perfectly. The sauces that came with my meal were delicious. Especially that beautiful red sauce. I want the recipe for when I go home! I highly recommend this restaurant and will return if I have a chance. This meal was well worth every dime I spent.

The dining experience at this restaurant left much to be desired. The service was slow, the food lacked flavor, actually not Afghan food and the overall atmosphere was underwhelming. I wouldn’t recommend it for those seeking a satisfying culinary experience.They don’t know what to bring first and spoons were very old and scratched, advertising photos on menus didn’t match with their real food menu

Nice outdoor seating and right on A street with easy street parking. Service was very odd, we never saw a waiter as the owner indicated that they’ll be out soon. Anytime we needed anything, we went inside and asked the owner and he seemed surprised that we were not served. We were the only customers dining. We ordered the lamb kebab skewers and the squash kaedoo. The lamb was excellent with nice char and flavor but the kaedoo was too bland. It needed something more. The bread and rice were good.

First timers here, I just randomly chose this place from a quick review of Afghan places near our friends house. Seems like some of the bad reviews and criticisms revolve around religious issues which thankfully I have zero allegiance to or interest in.None of us had been here before and three of us never had Afghani food. Four diners, four different ethnicities and no preconceptions. Tender, moist and wonderfully seasoned. I brought it home as leftovers and my 11 year old devoured it.The chicken kabob ranks up there with my favorite with Zareens and Mazra. Honestly like this better than Mazra and was more tender than Zareens, but very good. Chicken curry was nice and mild, easy for anyone to eat and flavorful.The yogurt based salad dressing was delicious. The Bolani was good and was a generous portion, definitely enough for four to share along with the meal.We all live a good 40 minutes away or longer with traffic but oI cant wait to come back here again!

I ordered the Qabuli Pulau, which is rice over lamb shank. It was good, not the best Qabuli Pulau I had though! There were some chunks of rice, which are not supposed to be! The Bolani was also good, even though there were some black burnt pieces on some. We sat outside, due to a strong smell of some sort of a cleaning product I guess. The service was mainly just for taking the order and bringing the feed and the bill, and not checking for what else we need.It is a decent place with good food and I will go again!

This place is a must if your in the Bay area/Hayward area. Wow the food was excellent, everything was fantastic. The service was a little bland but I believe thats only because some of the waitresses and busboy didnt speak good English. But tge food will want you coming back again and again and again.They were nice, communication was the only issue. I believe everyone in the restaurant working were all family.Go you will love it.

What can I say…this food is delicious 🤤. My husband and I love in Hayward and were getting tired of eating the same old food all the time. A girlfriend suggested Mediterranean and I immediately thought of Ghazni down the street from us and thought - why not?!I ordered family style -lamb shank, beans and rice, spinach, butternut squash and pita with leeks! OMG’sh I can’t even begin to describe how packed with flavor each dish was.The lamb fell right off the bone, the beans were seasoned to perfection, the spinach was fresh and creamy - and the butternut squash ugh 😩 incredible!If you haven’t already tried them out, please do! They get busy so be sure to order ahead or be prepared for a temp wait well worth it.

This restaurant sounded promising, but I was disappointed drove all the way there out of my way. The mixed kabobs platter was blant, although the pulao rice was good. I love Afghani food food and know my way around it, but this was below par. The Mantu was ok a bit on the soggy side. The bread included wasn’t fresh. They have tea, but it’s hot water and you grab yourself a tea bag, was expecting the Afghani cardamom tea. Prices are reasonable. Owner/customer service was good, they were friendly and nice.

This place has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. We placed an order for 5 plates totaling in over $100 today. Two of our plates look exactly the same but one order was chicken and lamb combo verses other was chicken and lamb. Neither of the orders were labeled so I called to ask if they can remake one because I’m Hindu and we don’t eat beef products. The guy on the phone kept telling me to sniff the plates and ill be able to tell the difference. I told him I don’t want to take the chance and would prefer if he could just remake my one plate out of the 5 plates we ordered. The guy on the phone said he can charge me for a new plate but couldn’t replace the order since I DIDN’T TELL HIM TO LABEL THE PLATES. Why would I tell him to label the plates that’s just common practice amounts restaurant’s. He then continued to tell me to bring the plates in and he can SNIFF THE MEATS TO TELL ME THE DIFFERENCE. I told him that’s unhygienic and I’m not going to have him sniff my food during covid especially. He told me he could charge me for a new plate and hung up the phone while I was talking. I’m extremely disappointed that we even gave them our business in the first place. Being that this is a Muslim restaurant you would think they under the importance of practicing religious restrictions. If you went to a restaurant and they have you pork and similar meat and told you to trust them based on them just sniffing the food how would you feel being that you’re a halal restaurant. This was the worst customer experience I’ve had in a very long time! I love supporting local small businesses but honestly this place is trash!

We sat first yet 3 other tables after us were served before us, same dish ordered. The servers weren’t sure who had what. They would go to each table with the platter asking who had ordered what. Servers were nervous, trying to be nice but not as profesional. A bunch of kitchen rubber mats all over the sidewalk next to restaurant, not sure how they get away with that. Would I go back? Maybe. We ordered $130 of food for takeout including a beef and chicken combo and a lamb and takeout combo(because we had someone who didn’t eat beef). They didn’t label the lamb or beef unfortunately and I’m pretty sure they’re both beef. When we called in, they said that we could bring it back into the restaurant and they can smell it and tell us which is which. DESPITE the health and safety violation in the middle of a pandemic, when we just asked for a replacement, they said that we’d need to pay for it. When I said we’re not paying for a replacement on an incorrect order, they hung up on us. I can’t tell you how much I advise staying far away from here.Response to vendor:That is completely out of line with what I was told over the phone. I was told that it was our fault for not requesting that the meals be labelled which should be standard. I was also told that if we wanted our order fixed, we would need to pay for the replacement. After I made it extremely clear that I wasnt paying extra to get the correct order, the employee hung up on me. The food was already thrown away because the meat was in contact with the rest of the food. On top of that, I have no interest in a new order at this point if the employee that answered my phone offered to SMELL my food in the middle of a pandemic to tell me which is which. I worry about the safety and health codes that the entire restaurant follows at this point

Authentic, I guess... not a connoisseur. The food was good and service was prompt and pleasant. My waiter couldnt tell me for sure whether certain beverages were available or not. The menu is very limited -- mostly kabobs and a pair of eggplant items. They could not accommodate my food allergy, so I cant recommend it if you have them.

So this is for Aug 2020 during the covid pandemic.Outside seating 3 stars. It was good. Not the cleanest. They need to pay attention to the tables AFTER the guest leaves.Service is 5 stars. They pay great attention to you.Food is very very good. I will return. Some option for vegans but the for carnivores it is the best. All food arrives in Togo containers and you must UNPACK your food and consume it. No big deal.

Once again I credit Yelp & Google (always cross-check!) for finding me another fantastic restaurant I might not have ever found otherwise.Ghazni is the best Afghan Kabobs in this area, hands down. We tried the combo platter and the lamb, so we were able to taste a little bit of everything. The chicken, the beef, chapli - all were extremely flavorful and tender. The lamb was also full of flavor and very tender. The cuts of meat and the preparation were perfection. The portions were enough to take home leftovers.Wed already planned on coming back before we even left. The only negative about this place was the long wait for our food after placing our order. Service is lackluster, like a family that doesnt really want to be there. Luckily they kept the warm bread coming and the food was so delicious once it arrived, that it negated taking off a star for this. Look for street or side-street parking.

This is the first time weve had a sit-down meal here but we ate takeout from here often during the pandemic. The dine-in portions are huge! The bolani appetizer is easily enough for four people - and we ordered the mantu appetizer as well... And four entrees. The sabzi and borani banjan are just fabulous. They were out of the kadu (highly recommended). Ive never had a bad meal here.

We were visiting Hayward for the evening and stumbled across this gem. The aroma in the air was incredible. The service was friendly and prompt (they warn it may take a while on the menu, it was about 2/3 full and we received our appetizer within 10 minutes and our food about ten to fifteen later). Just had an early dinner at this place with my boyfriend - I wanted my boyfriend to try Afghanistan food bc it was his first time and there were many great reviews about this place. But we were quite disappointed. Service was very slow... we waited about 20-30 mins for water and over an hour for our food. However, the waiter kept apologizing and tried to accommodate us, which we appreciate. We ordered mantu, lamb chops, and lentil curry. The mantu and lentil curry was on point. The lamb chops were a big disappointment - the meat was charred and overcooked that it was difficult to eat (as seen in the picture with the napkin, that was from eating two lamb chops alone!). I also order chai tea but never got it. This was prob one of my worst experiences at an Afghan restaurant - we do understand that it was perhaps due to a lack of staff and will give this another try next time. They did give us $5 off for the wait. With that being said, we do hope service and food will be better next time!

Excellent food, we ordered combo with lamb tikka, beef chapli and chicken. The meat was cooked really well. I especially enjoyed the lamb. Would go there again just for lamb.Bolani was very good and the serving was large. Mantu was really delicious a well.

Wonderful: ambiance, food & service. Behind the scenes. This used to be Rue Du Main, French. The muralist was flown to France to sketch what became the street scenes surrounding the upper dining room. Roll forward thirty years. The French store names are now Italian and the scenes still work.

They make a tasty lamb kabob and I highly recommend ordering the Bolani appetizer. The service is very friendly and prices are reasonable however they still did not acquire a liquor license which is a bummer for dinner-time.

This place is good! You can tell the meat is fresh and they cook the food on spot. Im Afghan, so take it from me the kabobs they make here taste like real Afghan kabob.Delicious and juicy. Order the chaplee kabob, comes with a fresh side of green onions just like back home. My favorite is the Teka kabob; chunks of tender steak.

I ordered their daal with basmati rice. First of all, their daal was SO undercooked! It was so hard. And their basmati rice was not basmati rice. Just plain white rice with a spice (that had no taste)sprinkled on top. I grew up eating basmati rice and theres no way that was anything near to it. And it was a $12 dish?? Wow. Highly disappointed with my order. And to top it all off, when I called and complained about my order they didnt apologize or even offer a refund. Just terrible.

This is th before Covid if my daughter was ordering food from here I was more than glad to get something also but since Covid I feel that their food has declined drastically tonight I had their eggplant di all I ate was burnt eggplant with very little yogurt the rice is hard and chewy and I would recommend that if you’re going to get the food go in and don’t have door Dash deliver it you need to go in yourself so you can check out your items and taste it because if it’s not up to your standards then you’re able to give it right back but they don’t have to worry about me wanting anything else from this place because their food is not good

Three of us had a late lunch that probably will cover our dinner as well. Between the squash birriani, the kebab, the Dahl ( the best I have eaten), and the appetizer of crepe like filled with potatoes, this restaurant makes among the best meals, I have had in a while. No fanfare, but wonderful visually, heathy and served with such grace, that we will be back here in no time. Did not have room for dessert.

Decent food but they screwed up my order (appetizer size for 3 of the dishes which should have been meals and we got one thing we didnt order at all instead of something we did order which wasnt there. Halal meat is served here per note stated in the menu. Owners are also Muslim. Nice little Afghani place close to downtown Hayward. Tried the Chapli Kabob plate and was pleasantly surprised at how much meat they give you! Very fat chaplis. Although I wish they were a bit crispier. The salad that comes with the plate is good, but the side of channa (garbanzo beans) and potato was way too small (it tasted good though). Friendly service and nicely decorated interior. Limited seating inside (approx. 9 small tables). Will come again to try out the other menu items.

Its new hip, clean, good basic food. Step out the box and try it. The spices are not overpowering just right. Nice place for business or personal lunch.
