I hate to even have to do this, because this was legit my favorite Chinese food place Ive ever been to and Ive been going here for years. But, I feel like fair warning to others and a little feedback to the restaurant might be good. Something tasted a bit off with the chow mein this last time. I wish I just didnt eat it, but I did. And it was the absolute worst case of food poisoning Ive ever had in my 37 years on this planet. Its been a week and I still havent fully recovered. I honestly didnt know you could get that sick from food. It was, quite honestly, just impressive. Im not trying to trash this place, theyve been awesome for years. But, please be more careful. That was insane and I dont know when Ill be able to even look at Chinese food again. That might have straight up killed an old person. Please just up the quality control.

Driving all over town and everywhere had lines. Then I remembered Gingers. Hidden away in a little strip mall. Been there for many years. Came back. No waiting. Service is awesome. Food is Fanfreakintastic.Please do try Gingers in Chico. You will Not be disappointed

Gingers is one of my favorite Chinese food restraints! The girls there are so friendly! It’s such a great environment! There dumpling soup is the bomb! There garlic chicken chow main and pork fried rice is also very good!

Went there today for the first time with my lady, ordered one of the family combos, and we were amazed by how much food we get for the money. On top of that, the foods were very tasty as well. Relaxing and clean environment, the staffs and servers were super duper friendly as well! This is definitely one of the hidden gems in Chico, 10/10 would come visit again! 😁💯

I went in Monday evening, shortly before closing, for hot and sour soup and rice. When I got home, the soup was, basically, broth — with only small bits of tofu slices and bamboo shoots; which, I paid over $13 for ($15, with tip).Being I found this unsatisfactory, I chose not to eat it.I brought the soup, rice and receipt back; and explained my upset. I was promptly given my $15 back, without question or hesitation, by the young woman with the super cute, whispy bangs.Though I was unsatisfied with the soup, and I didn’t quite enjoy my mother’s orange beef (too much breading, for me) — I found everyone to be polite and inviting, with great customer service and understanding,And for that, alone, I give Ginger’s five stars.

The food is five-stars, and I will probably eat here again. I will have to order differently because the chef and wait staff are not accommodating.I have eaten here several times. Each time was a to-go order. The food here was excellent each time.I like the way they do their lemon chicken. Lemon chicken is maybe my favorite Chinese dish. So I was excited to find a place that did it well and did it the way I liked it.The last few times I asked for no onions in my chow mien, the vegetable dish or wherever it could be taken out. I also asked for it with the personal combos (I asked for no onions). There was never any problem, regardless of it being an entree or personal combo, of getting it without onions (I dont like peas in fried rice either, I dont really like peas at all, they are just green mush).Today both the server and the Chef refused to leave onions out of the chow mien and fried rice. They said they couldnt do it with the personal combo.I was asking for no onions. For them to leave something out, which would be easier, unless they are not making each order fresh-to-order. They probably have the portions for the personal combo prepped with the onions already in the mix, and then they throw each order on the wok, and maybe thats why they cant take the onions out. Or whatever. Figure out a way to leave the onions out. Not everyone likes onions. Or some people might be allergic to them.I got a cheeseburger somewhere else, and now I have to find a new Chinese restaurant.

Delivery took 90 min. I wish I could give a good review, almost as much as I wish the food was good. It was not. I ordered the combo plate that comes with main dish, rice, chow mein and prawns. The noodles were soggy, soaked in soy. Rice dry, bland. A single small shrimp accompanied this meal. No fortune cookie, napkin, fork....nada.

I love gingers! The food is delicious and the staff is always friendly. The restaurant itself could use a little updating but the food mlm or then makes up for that. They have a great lunch menu. They also deliver and it had always shown up fresh and still hot. I would highly recommend Gingers the next time you have a craving for Chinese food.

We were feeling lazy and hungry on our vacation, and Gingers came up closest to us for Chinese food. Very Good. This is the best quality you’re going to get in Chico in this area of cuisine. Portions are HUUGEE at dinner. I usually have a much better time but the last time I ordered it sesame beef and the sauce tasted exactly like the orange sauce. Lunch provides a much more reasonable price. This place does deserve a 4.5. BUT if there is a problem with many of your sauces being the same, an insanely sugary sweet and sour sauce that is great, but please fix the problem if there is one in your sauces.

My family ordered from Gingers, so I read thru menu and found Chicken in Curry Sauce. Now, Im thinking a deep rich curry gravy...but, no! It was a very faint smell of curry in a chicken broth with chicken and veggies. I was so disappointed, grudgingly ate a very tiny serving just to see how it tasted...it was no better. Sorry...if I could give it a zero just for this dish.. I would. But the other dishes were ok, not the greatest, just ok.....rbb

Meals were cold, fried appetizers were doughy and cold, sauces were more of a soup and too salty, not really any flavor in the food. Worst was the smell. The chicken smell I can only describe as a cow stable. Something is definitely off with it, had to throw it out. Then we read all the reviews online about others having the same old chicken smelling bad experience and got food poisoning. Pray we dont get sick!

Ive been searching around Chico for a good Chinese restaurant for awhile, and after wasting my money at countless places, this place suprised me. The service was great, food came out in no time, and everything was great. Ive been there 3 times; the sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and the lemon chicken are all fantastic. The egg flower soup is delicious, as well as the spring rolls, and the crab puffs are to DIE for. The chow mein is good, and the fried rice could be seasoned better but isnt bad. For $8 during lunch or $10 for dinner, its way more food than any one person could eat. I love it here and wont ever try another place in town.

Not sure what everyones issue is with this place. You get EXACTLY what you pay for. The food is cheap coming in at $6ish for lunch, the decorations are for fall while its early August, and its not a professional setting. Anywhere that was acting like it was fancy and perfect would get a one star from me HOWEVER Gingers doesnt try and hide the casually dressed cooks, the average quality of the food nor the fact that its the same interior from when I went there 15years ago. They are here for lunch goers looking for a cheap meal at a sit-down place thats better than anything at the same price. They fulfill their clienteles needs and will continue to do so

I used to come here all the time. I have no idea what anyone ate to think its the best quality Chinese food your gonna get in Chico. That is simply false. Its cheap and they give you good sized portions. I eat here maybe 2-3 times year (I used to eat at Gingers 2-3 times a month. No I didnt get bored of the food either they changed hands a bunch of times and the quality got poorer and poorer). Just had Mongolian beef from Gingers tonight and the beef was tough and not dressed. I got 75% white onion no peppers and maybe two green onions (and thats generous). Shame really.

Gingers is my favorite Chinese food restaurant of all time and Ive had Chinese food in multiple cities, states, and 2 countries so far, so this is saying a lot!Their prices are incredibly reasonable and their portions are extremely large! The food has such rich flavor, you will have a mouthgasm every time!We are always greeted by the same sweet girl and seeing her makes us so happy! I cannot say enough good things about Gingers. Was surprised to find this spot. Having moved to Magalia from the Bay Area, I have had xlnt Chineese food. 4 of us ordered from the lunch menu. First off, portions were way huge for a very reasonably priced lunch menu! We all had more than enough to take home for dinner. The Hot and Sour soup was xlnt (I could eat just that and be happy). I had the garlic chicken lunch.The chicken was not crispy fried as I expected, but chunks of white meat in a bed of mushrooms and vegtables. They were not skimpy on this entree. XLNT! So was the fried rice. No hard kernels at all. My friend had the Sesame Chicken lunch. Crispy, sweet and VERY tasty. Another friend had the General Xous Chicken, and it was very very good. Crispy and tasty. The servise....great. We were left to enjoy the meal, and our waitress checked on us at 5 minute intervals. When we were ready to leave, the cook and the staff asked us how the meal was, and politely asked us to please come back again. So many restaurants are just happy to let you go without feedback. I will return.

I usually never review places, but I ordered a large won ton soup for delivery and the soup had a cover and was put in its own bag tied tightly around it (so I know it came from inside the restaurant) when I opened the soup there was a WORM in it! I called them and they said they could do nothing because it was delivered and it could have happened in the car.

First of all, make it very clear what you want when you order. My husband ordered fried wings and got fried prawns. The chicken chomain tastes exactly like top ramen. The foil wrap chicken was the worst chicken Ive ever had. The pork fried rice was the worst I have ever had. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism. We ordered online for delivery and the payment was processed and received a confirmation email. After waiting a little over an hour we called the restaurant to confirm the order and a possible delivery time since it was already 20 minutes past when they said it would be delivered. The man who answered would not take our name, phone # or order...just said yeah yeah he will be there. We live 1.7 miles from the restaurant. The driver NEVER showed and the restaurant, nor the driver called! We had to put our phone number in to place the order. So after years of going here we will not be going back or ever recommend this place.

Never got the meal, over an hour to find me right on the Esplanade then wanted me to pay for the clod food and got on his phone in my front yard, yelling to his boss and I had to escort his out insisting the whole time that he stop yelling and disturbing my neighbors!!! And...the mixed vegetable dish was the blandest Ive ever eaten in perhaps 200 Chinese restaurants Ive eaten. And...no one came by after serving the food to check in with us. And...no offer was made to box up our leftovers, from one of the very few times I did not want to finish my meal at a Chinese restaurant. Note to owner: try playing traditional Chinese music. It might increase your business. I wrote a letter to the owner about the music, and never got a response.
