Gnar Bar in Mendocino

I’ve been holding onto this review for a minute as I got choked up writing it 😢. Got to stop and try a fun new addition to our exemplary culinary choices, this one was in Mendocino, the Gnar Bar. Its in a great location that’s had many different choices in its history, I’m not sure any was more interesting. It was my last lunch with my boy before he left for college. As we entered we were greeted with an amazing selection of drink choices and I chose the milk tea. Next was the cold selection of ready made choices like seaweed salad, california rolls and more. Then comes the hot counter. Im a corn fan and adored the cheese corn. The chicken sandwich was tasty too. They specially made the deep fried salmon roll for us, it was fresh and full flavored. The spam musubi was fantastic, my sons first experience with this dietary staple. It’s a great people watching spot. Great service, we will be back.Only in Mendocino

This spot is amazing. The owners are friendly and the food is top tier. Our kids even loved it! Lots of well made grab and go. This is 5 star across the board! A must go-to for quality poke bowls which was my favorite. BUT everything was amazing. So many fun obscure candies and bottled marbled sodas. We will make this a family stop every time we visit! So delicious and extra crunchy karaage! The sake marinade flavor comes through and if you ask for the chicken to be cut into smaller pieces before frying they’re happy to do it for you and you’ll end up with super crunchy bite sized pieces! Chris was super friendly at the counter and will make sure you’re happy.

Got some great insights into cooking no-soggy tofu and had a pleasant picnic in Rotary Park. Good stuff going on at Gnar Bar!

Walked by randomly, saw the spam masubi and had to check it out. Glad I stopped by, great pre made options, easy. Ended up with pork dumplings too.

I could not be happier or more impressed with our lunch at Gnar Bar today. The ramen was absolutely amazing. The veggie dumplings were cooked to perfection and oh so tasty. The only thing that outshined the food was the stellar team that prepared it. I will not miss the opportunity to relive the experience any time Im in Mendocino or passing by. Thank you Gnar Bar!

Delicious! Writing this as I’m finishing up the dumplings and spam musubi. We also got the chicken sando. Service is great - there is a great selection of hot foods, cold foods, Asian snacks and drinks. Super quick as you can pick up the foods you want and either eat there (there’s limited seating) or takeaway to eat. Would happily return! :)

Really good food that is ready to go! We had the beef bulgogi and lemongrass chicken. Both were hot, delicious and well portioned. Nice to have option in Mendocino!

We’ve visited 4 times now and I’ve been meaning to leave a review since the first visit. What a welcome addition to Mendocino! The food is delicious, reasonably priced, a close walking distance to the beach and headlands, and the service is warm friendly.They have a great selection of grab and go takeaway- both hot and cold. Or you can order off the menu. We’ve tried the: kimchi, edamame, rainbow roll, basil friend rice, lemongrass chicken, chicken karage, sticky wings, and spam musubi- all delicious! I’d say the standouts were the sticky wings and lemongrass chicken, but nothing disappointed. All fresh and flavorful!Gnar Bar is now our family’s go to spot. Even our more “discerning” teenagers’ palates approve. Keep it up Gnar Bar! You guys have a good thing going.

There’s not much open in Mendocino for lunch on a Monday. To my MAJOR SURPRISE this place was insanely delicious. Customer service is great, the food is so fresh and well executed. I had the cheesy corn, spicy cucumbers (An absolute must), and the lemongrass chicken. This place over delivers for the price. Make sure to stop in on your next visit to Mendocino.
