The food was ok - nothing really stands out. If I have to recommend it would be Tori Nasi Garlic (chicken /eggplant) and I would skip Kara Age(fried chicken) it was a bit dry. Everything was just まあまあ (so so) according to my Japanese friend.

Hello Viewers, its been a while since I re-visit Gochi Japanese restaurant. Gochi used to be my favorite Japanese restaurant in town. I love they are offering the some fusion style and non Bay Area traditional Japanese restaurant. I had a feeling all Bay Area sushi store are coming from the same master - Dragon Sushi Roll, Rainbow rolls, teriyaki chicken, sashimi plate, etc.this place offers different Japanese fusion cooking style such as Japanese dressing pizza, clay pot, and carpaccio beef. I enjoy these type of Izakaya style that goes along with the sake or wine instead of treat it as a full meals.if the group of people coming here and hoping for full Japanese meal, this is not for you. if you are coming to have sip of the drinks and tapas style, I will look no further.P.S - did I mention this place serve the foods way too fast? feels like its missing the izakaya style.Paul

This review is strictly on the food as we DoorDashed the food and didn’t visit the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. We typically eat a lot of Japanese foods but the innovative plates here are what caught our attention. The first item was the Sake Pizza. It was creamy, nice size pieces of salmon, and had a great flavor. We also shared an order of the Aigamo Steak, which was juicy duck breast in a hatcho miso sauce. The duck itself was moist, cooked perfectly, and the sauce was so good I could have eaten it with a spoon. Next was the Kani Cream Korokke, which was a creamy crab filled ball flash fried to perfection. Absolutely delicious although it had corn in it which I wish was listed as I am not supposed to eat. (I ate it anyways.) The Tori Karaage was one of the best I have yet so far. The chicken skin wasn’t overly fried and had the best crisp and flavor. The chicken itself was juicy! Lastly, we each had the Green Tea Crème Brûlée. Kind of pricey for the amount, but worth it for the flavor and the consistency.Overall it was a fabulous meal and I look forward to trying it at the restaurant next time.

We made a reservation before we came. We came to celebrate family member birthday. As I know, there is another gochi in South Bay. We arrived on time and got seated. It was fullhouse. The seat is japanese style where the table is low and you kind of sit on the floor. Interior is a nice japanese style look. Interestingly, even though it was full, there was not much noise. There are plenty of items on the menu that make it hard to decide what yo order. We ordered pizza, tempura, carpacio, sashimi, unagi meshi, and tanuki udon. The pizza is unique. We never had it before. The tempura is ok. Hamachi carpacio is yummy. Sashimi is average for me. Unagi meshi is yummy. It think it needs more sauce. Tanuki udon is average. The service is considered fast, and I think we were given a time limit for dining in. I wish the server could suggest what is popular or suggest what we should order.

Store atmosphere and service are great. But the dishes are either too sweet or too salty for me. Not very authentic Japanese taste. Some dishes tastes the same. Probably using the same sauce

It’s a very nice cozy restaurant with lots of options to choose from especially they include menu for vegetarian. Ordered veg clay pot, crab fried with nori, egg omelette with crabs, risotto balls, udon everything was good. Would recommend not to order entire food at once and tater place an order Separately for each course.

So much better than I expected! Every single dish was fantastic 😍 the app was a bit finicky tbh but the service made up for it. Loved the unagi claypot, the agedashi tofu, takowasa, scallops, eggplant with prawns 💯💯

GochiI had much love for their food for years and I kept taking my coworkers and friends here to have a good time. I guess it’s a wrap since I will never come back.I took girlfriend here the other night.1. The first server told me to scan the QR code to order. I scanned and it took almost a minute to load the menu. I added things to the cart but it cannot checkout. After five minutes a second server showed up and told me the ordering online is broken. I already feel a bit flaky at this point. I am wondering why they are not forthcoming at first.2. When I try to load the menu again, nothing showed up. I told the second server and he came back and smashed a paper menu on the table. I don’t know why he did that. The paper menu has a font smaller than iPhones’ terms and conditions and they are almost impossible to read.3. What really pissed me off is the checkout. I was double charged the taxes. After getting charged twice, I felt fishy and asked for a breakdown bill. The server told me I have to pay first to see the breakdown. She brought a POS prompting a recommendation minimum 15% tips of the double charged total amount. I am not feeling ok about this. I paid her anyway with 12% tips which you can tell I’m already mad and asked her to double check. She came back said the system is messed up without offering any sincere apologies, just saying the system was down and I would get a refund. To be honest It’s difficult to find a good Japanese restaurant at mtv owned by the Japanese. I felt Gochi has really been going downhill and it makes me disheartened being treated like this as a long term customer. I wouldn’t think they will survive a day in Japan with this type of service now.Sadly, good times have passed. I will not visit again.Btw, I would highly recommend people who dined here on 9/7 to check their bills.

We booked the table a week before, when we walked in, the Usher told us we have 90 minutes, is that ok for us, thats our anniversary dinner can I say no? And I am not having a cheap buffet dinner, Im paying full price for a high end dinner, why do I have to feel rushed to celebrate my anniversary. After we sit down, the servicer offers a digital menu or physical menu, we pick digital, since then I never see him again, I need to look for him and wave every time. The menu is boring, not much character, like Burdock fries..., They sold out for clam that day, no ebi sashimi, I have a hard time to pick an order. For the Sashimi, hamachi one piece thick one piece thin, tuna has tendon, mackerel had fish bones not one but three. Not recommended: you pay overpriced food and theyre not considering the service. Dont waste money.
