Very good, nothing bad, if you close your eyes and eat their food, you barely think its vegan. Bao sandwich (to someone who doesnt prefer spicy food maybe not so good choice, but there are plenty of mild dishes to choose from), popcorn sushi - yum!, great California sushi, we loved all. See you soon well come for more.

After reading two google map reviews of Jain food options being available at this restaurant, I was super excited to try Jain ramen for the very first time. I ordered the build your own ramen - with spicy miso base, regular ramen noodles, toppings - broccoli, pineapple and bok choy, garnish - cilantro and sesame seeds. It was delicious and I’m looking forward to try all other Jain options in their menu. Definitely recommend this place and I can’t wait to visit it again.#jain-friendly #vegetarian-friendly #vegan-friendly

This was such an amazing experience. Ive been vegetarian for 9 years and havent had sushi since then. This was my first time having a vegetarian sushi experience and it tasted so close to the same thing, I had so much joy. Food is really good. The ramen is excellent. The vibes are Great. This place was awesome!! I’m happy I found it on the way to Warner Bros studio. Vegetarian friendly to the max :). We got the mushroom ramen w corn & kale, the dynamite roll, and the bao! Everything tasted super refined and palatable. The ramen miso curry base of the ramen was so tasty and hard to stop eating despite us being super full at the end.

2 vegetarians in from out of state. We enjoyed everything we ate. We got there about 45 min before closing so the were only doing takeout. Inside was quaint and cute. Small outdoor area for seating. Really liked the area. Waiter/Manager(maybe owner) we’re really nice and helped with the menu. Food was good. It was one of the better restaurants we had on our 3 days in the area.

SO GOOD. Try the mayu garlic and jalapeño ramen and the chicken teriyaki. The ramen is very flavorful, not too spicy. The “chicken” in the chicken teriyaki was the best vegan chicken I’ve had. It’s was super soft and tender. Not chewy and dense like a lot of vegan chicken. Can’t wait to come back and try again! Gave the atmosphere a 4/5 just because the restaurant is a little small so feels cramped at times. Other then that, can only say good things. Parking in the back is available.

Cute modern dining room for a date. Very clean. Good music playing. Great vibe. Which I was not expecting. I was just hungry and happened to pass by. Im glad I stopped to eat here. Great menu options. Food was yummy. Nice to have another vegan option in the neighborhood. Definitely returning for both dine in and take out.

Gokoku is an excellent vegan/vegetarian sushi restaurant. Everything was well prepared and tasted amazing. The edamame was perfectly flavored and was hard to put down. The popcorn roll was my favorite because it came with popcorn chicken pieces piled on and scattered around the roll. The hard tofu ramen was not the greatest but I would give the other ramen options a shot. Unfortunately they only had one server on a Saturday mid afternoon (around 3pm) so it did take some time to get service. It seems that they would definitely benefit from more seating especially on busy days!

This place is SO tasty!!! The vegan bao is amazing! The bao itself could be better but the filling was other worldly! We also got the mushroom ramen which was really good but not super different from veggie ramen at regular ramen spots. I’d definitely spring for beyond meat in your ramen for a more robust experience. Amazing service and super cute restaurant. Would def recommend as a vegetarian ramen lover!

Wow! All I can say is that my days of eating boring vegan sushi is over!! No more avocado rolls! This place prepares their food with so many delicious ingredients that it makes me so happy.I had the Popcorn Sushi Roll and the Tempura California Roll. I wanted to try something popular and something classic, and I was not led astray! The “popcorn” was the best toppings I have ever had on sushi .. I think this is my first time having sushi where I didn’t even reach for the ginger and wasabi because all the flavors held their own!I cannot wait to try more of this menu, I will be back sooner than you think.

Never had vegetarian Ramen before and we loved it. Many thanks to our friends son, Zeff, who recommended this gem of a place. Frankly, I was skeptical but, was pleasantly surprised by the depth of flavor in the Ramen. I had the Crazy Spicy Udon Noodle Ramen and my husband had the Mushroom Ramen and both were delicious !! Excellent quality mushrooms and tons of veggies complimented the beautiful vegan broth. Spice level was perfect for me..hit all the right spots on the tongue and the stomach 😊. We also had the popcorn vegan sushi roll and believe me you will not miss the fish. The wonderful flavors will blow you away. Definitely going back !!

Great vegan spot!! We ordered the Mushroom Ramen, Hardtofu Ramen, and Beyond Meat+Carrot Sushi rolls. The Ramen was delicious. All of the Ramen on the menu is labeled as spicy, but you can ask for it in the non spicy broth, which is what I did for the mushroom Ramen. So good! The noodles were delicious and decent thickness. I felt it was savory and not too salty. Tons of toppings in the soup too. The bowl is HUGE. This is a VERY filling meal. I was full by the time I got to the sushi rolls.😅 Highly recommend this place!!

Extremely happy with my experience at this place! I came here for my birthday on 3/22/21, and I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor, presentation, and homely vibe at this location. Highly recommend for anyone vegetarian or vegan (even gluten-free)! My sister, a long term vegetarian, said it was the first time she was able to enjoy the fancy sushi. Myself, having recently turned vegetarian, also enjoyed the sushi very much and it more than hit the spot I was craving! We loved it! Not very clean. the tables are dirty and the bowls seem to always have a residue crust… this is why i’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars. also the service gets annoyed if you ask if they could wipe the table down smhfood is BOMB though. i wish they didn’t use so much plastic bc i would get takeout all the time.it can get busy during mealtimes but just go during an off time! small bathroom inside.

This place is so delicious! The broth in the ramen has so much flavor! I got the mushroom ramen, vegan spicy tuna roll and the avocado smoothie. The food was great but the smoothie didn’t have any flavor. It tasted like crushed ice. It had a little nut flavor but that was towards the end of the smoothie.I didn’t know it was vegan until I saw the menu. I just happen to pass by because my work is close to this place. I was craving ramen. I usually go to another popular ramen place but don’t think it’s that other place is that good.

I want to give this place a better review because we need a great vegan spot and they have great food. However the service was bad when I finally dined in for the first time. The woman was kind of rude and blamed me when I said we got the wrong item. Even if it was my fault (I pointed at the menu when I ordered) there was a better way to handle it. ALSO, in the year 2023 everything was plastic for an order in?!??! Except the straw, which is the only thing that sucks when its paper instead of plastic. So that was crazy. I just really feel badly that eating vegan means 10 times more plastic than necessary with this restaurant. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Having a vegan ramen and sushi spot in the valley is so great to have. It was our first time going to Gokoku today and I had a spicy tuna cut roll and the mushroom ramen. I was very happy with the sushi roll and look forward to trying different types next time. The ramen was pretty darn good but i hope they add other non miso bases in the future. Anyways 5/5 solid lunch place with lots more to explore on the menu! Service was good too!

We came in at 8:15pm on a Sunday, very excited to eat here. Didn’t get to unfortunately. When we came in (2 of us), they had another restaurants customers sitting at their outside tables. The host was so weird and asked us if we’d like to have him remove the customers but why were they sitting there in the first place?? He then told us we could sit anywhere inside. We picked a 4-top and were handed menus and a waitress came by and dropped off water and plates. I was just about to order an appetizer when he asked us to move to a smaller table. Just in case a larger party came in… there were other 4-tops available..confused, we got up and went to the bar and sat down. He then asked us to move again!! bc it was too close to their “to-go” orders haha. He tried to sit us 2 inches away from another couple in the corner with the harshest lighting. No thanks. I first saw Gokoku on YouTube being reviewed by Tasty! Parking was terrible due to the traffic going in and out of Universal. Going in and out of the restaurant for pickup/takeout was super quick and the food tastes impeccable! Good portions, lovely flavor, and a cozy meal. :)

Vegan ramen (except for the egg we added) tastes great. We did not miss meat or dairy at all. The low oil option was bland. The curry comes on a bit too strong. However, they were both rich and brothy and tasty in its own way. The noodles were fresh and chewy. We did not try gluten free but surely will next time.

My favorite ramen spot in LA! I always say I’ll try something new, but I can’t say no to their mushroom ramen!! Not only is the food amazing, the place is really cool (I recommend sitting at the cute wood bar), and the staff are so so sweet. I’ve never had a bad experience there. My only qualm would be that sometimes you get your drink in a plastic cup even if you’re sitting in, so perhaps best to ask for a glass when ordering if you’re concerned about that as well!

Best vegan sushi I have ever had.There are so many options - over 30 different rolls, and they’re varied and complex and colorful - not limited the usual standard veggie rolls! The black dragon was especially good.They’ve got inari which is always a favorite. They vegan bao was fluffy and fresh, with flavorful and tangy filling.Parking was super easy with the lots off to the side and around the back. We interacted with multiple staff members, and all were super friendly and helpful.We chose a build-you-own ramen this time, but I’m definitely coming back again really soon for that mushroom ramen or that naked ramen!

Second time eating here last night. While food was good. The service was lack luster. My friend and I had to ask for things multiple times. She asked for a refill of her water and ended up going to pour the pitcher of water herself because the waiter forgot multiple times. Condiments same thing. Ridiculous. They were a little busy. I wanted to like this place even tho Im not vegan. The ramen looked good, the broth was flavorful, but too salty and the black beans were tough. All in all, not terrible but not particularly good. Service was ok. Atmosphere is minimalist, concrete floor and only marginally comfortable. I had thought I might go back and try the dishes which looked pretty good, but I just cant.

I always have a hard time choosing just a few vegan rolls when I live so far away and I cannot frequent a location, but with the two times Ive visited so far everything was wonderful. Their vegan sushi will definitely have me coming back in the future. Online ordering says it takes about 40-50 minutes to prepare and it was accurate both times. Definitely order well before you plan to show up

I moved to noho in September and have been eyeballing this place for a minute. I finally decided to come in with my lady friend on Christmas Eve and the place was busy as hell. Despite this, we got some incredible food in a timely manner.I highkey recommend the Volcano Roll, it was super delicious. Once ordered they missed out a dish and claimed we hadnt ordered and that now the kitchen is closed so no more orders. Small, intimate, all veggie place in LA close to Universal Studios.As a vegetarian, I am used to having only one or two options at most in a Ramen shop. So, an all veggie Ramen shop is most definitely welcome for me. It does feelt great to know that you can virtually eat everything.And the Ramen options they offer are all excellent as well. I went for the build-your-owm options: the classic miso broth was perfect and the noodles tasted fresh.I also really liked the atmosphere in the shop. Its small and intimate, run by just a few staff who, despite a lot of customers both dine-in and take-out, are running a tight ship and are very attentive to customers needs. Quick and friendly service.If I am ever in LA again, Ill definitely try to drop by again.

Conflicted on this place, and wanted to give a better review but I cant. The sushi was completely slathered in sauce to the point where there was more sauce than sushi. It looked like a taco bell cheesy gordita supreme more than actual Maki. I think the underlying sushi may have been good but there was so much cheese and sauce it was pretty disgusting and I felt pretty bad afterwards. One possibility is that it wasnt very fresh and sauces were used to cover up this fact. Presentation and service was good but since the food was a miss I cant give a better review. I will return in a few months to see if anything has changed, and will update review.

Wow! Glad we went here for lunch! Had the Hot and Hot spicy creamy sushi roll and the Pineapple Ramen. Both were packed with flavor. It was like a party in my mouth! Tried this place for the first time because of the great reviews and the gluten-free noodle option. Ordered through the website, but when I got back home, noticed the boiled egg was marinated. After calling the restaurant, the manager let me know that the marinated egg and jalapenos has soy sauce and were not safe for those suffering from wheat allergies. They apologized and advised to call as a follow up to any future orders to make sure the staff were aware that the person ordering was allergic. They replaced the ramen with a fully safe substitute and even offered to give a full refund. The ramen and the California roll were both great. Although I did a pick-up, the place looks nice for sit down, just be aware that space is limited and probably fills up during lunch and weekends. The staff were great and seemed very organized for pick up, the manager was understanding and helpful. Will definitely order again.

Ive come to this place many times, and the service and food are wonderful. They have many options (Ramen, sushi, fried rice, appetizers). Their Ramen is tasty (love the wood ear mushrooms, kabocha squash base for a lot of them) the Garlic spicy ramen is great- (not that spicy at all- would like it even spicier actually) but extremely filling as well. I also got to try their vegan sushi (Volcano) for the first time & it was crunchy & scrumptious- I would recommend for sure. I got the poke bowl and it was half spicy mayo and half rice with some toppings, with more spicy mayo on top. The rolls were also just ok, i dont think the spicy mayo should be put on takeout rolls though. Caterpillar roll was not what you normally get. This place is one of my favorite spots in Los Angeles. I’ve been to Japan three times and I’ve frequented other vegan sushi spots throughout the city. This one tastes the most home style delicious. The head chef strictly uses fresh vegetables and ingredients that transport me somewhere else. When she’s at the restaurant she might even make you a roll off the menu. Regrettably, I had the singular most negative experience as a Uber Eats driver at this establishment out of 2,323 deliveries I have completed over the course of the last 15 months (where I currently hold a 100% customer/vendor satisfaction rating as a driver).At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Monday 7/5/21 I arrived at Gokoku to pick up a small order of one ramen + a cucumber salad for their customer Victoria.I was repeatedly advised by various staff that the order was forthcoming in 10 minutes, almost ready, theyre packing it up now..... after 35 minutes, the owner finally approached me to see whether I had been helped (during which time a large party of 7 also experienced their order failing to be placed despite already waiting for 30 minutes).When I expressed to the owner for a second time my frustration at having been misled regarding the status of the delivery, the owners wife who runs the kitchen actually took time out from all the orders she had thus far failed to serve up and peeked over her partition while pointing to the door demanding: YOUR ORDER IS CANCELED! WE WILL NOT SELL TO YOU! GET OUT! By the time I spoke with Uber Support, there were 3 missed calls from the very hungry customer whose order Gokoku accepted but failed to complete.The owner himself fails to realize that delivery drivers are not JUST A UBER DRIVER, but they themselves are consumers in the neighborhood with family, friends and colleagues who will receive either an endorsement or a complaint about their business - the best (free) advertising (or negative feedback) for any business is word of mouth.The owner fails to realize that this just Uber driver is a semi-retired former restraunteur (who dines out every single day) and is a current owner of multiple shopping centers who has Jersey Mikes, Shake Shack, etc. as her tenants (one center locally in NOHO). The arrogant superiority of shes just a Uber driver is not only abusive and defies common decency and courtesy, it made a forgivable situation in a poorly run business inexcusable.EDIT: Response to Owner/Shanshan,I am pleased to know there is video record of my experience at your establishment. Your account confirms the fact that a delivery service provider contracted by YOUR customer to facilitate your business with her is characterized as a trespasser and is just a (lowly) Uber driver. My post is a 100% accurate description of what transpired during my attempt to perform this service where 45 minutes later, you showed utter disregard for my time, disrespect toward me personally and your customer was left hungry without the food for which she had tendered payment.As stated, it was I who reported your business to Uber Eats for investigation and requested the police be called. Ultimately, it did not deserve any more time investment on my part at the scene, and even less so now. You have a good day as well. I hope you come to the understanding as I conveyed at the time of pick up that by virtue of being your customers designated representatives, we just Uber drivers ARE your customers. Im going to be super honest, the potstickers were absolutely tasty especially when paired with the soy sauce. Now the Ramen... not sure. I wasnt completely sold on it. I ordered the mushroom Ramen and the Chef didnt even bother to cut them into smaller pieces. Flavor, it was lacking. I had to add a lot of soy sauce and chili.

I really want to like this place and support this business, especially because there arent many vegetarian ramen shops around, but we were so underwhelmed that we wouldnt come back... The waiter was very helpful and friendly, but the food however came out SUPER slow. We waited 45 min + for our food when the restaurant was only half full. The ramens we tried were really mediocre at best. The soup was salty but not much flavor. We also ordered a kimchi fried rice, which was a salty spicy mush... very disappointed.

I love this place. I was so glad that I found this gem in Noho. Their foods are amazing, could not believe vegetarian would be this tasty! My favorite is tomato ramen, I can eat this everyday:) I am checking off their menu one by one, so far I love them all. The plus point is their service, so friendly and nice. I am Gokoku fan :)

Vegetarian ramen is hard to come across since its a difficult meal to begin with. Having tried many ramen places (non-vegetarian as well), I was delighted to find this broth full of flavor.The broth was sweet and had a light texture. It really gave this ramen the vegetarian experience without sacrificing flavor. An assortment of vegetables are complimented as well: kale, spinach, green onions, shiitake, black mushrooms, and cabbage.The spicy miso rice was also good. The rice wasnt mushy mushy and tasted great.Overall, Im glad with what I chose, and the service was also great.

Its good sushi but the way they gave me 3 little packets of soy sauce for 2 rolls and one of the rolls had 3 tempura broccoli pieces, thats 19 pieces and 3 soy sauce packets arent enough. I asked for chopsticks in the instructions and added utensils to my order and got none. I thought they forgot so the next time I ordered I put my request in caps and they requested a $1 upcharge per roll to give me 5 soy sauce packets and chopsticks.... I spent $30 on sushi but cant have chopsticks and soy sauce without spending $2 more? Thats just bad business to me. Thats like being charged for ketchup when you order fries or for a spoon when you order soup. Being nickled and dimed to have the items to enjoy your food is a shame. I declined the charge and decided to buy of a bottle of soy sauce at the store for $2. And the second roll I ordered for work Ill just bring the bottle there too since its too much to ask for packets from here. And Ill eat my sushi with a fork. I just recommended if youre like me and really wont enjoy your sushi without soy sauce to have your own.

My boyfriend and I went today (Sunday) around 1pm and it was nice and empty, maybe 2 other customers at most. We ordered the tantan ramen, egg fried rice and eggplant bento. I didnt try the fried rice but the eggplant and ramen had great flavor. The Thai iced tea is made with almond milk and tasted great too. Customer service was alright too. They didnt have music playing but the TV was on, would have preferred some music as it felt a bit too quiet. The decor could do with a little facelift (maybe add a couple of plants) but if youre just rushing in and out then I guess the decor doesnt matter. It was a little hot today and I wish they had the air conditioner on. Overall food was good so Ill be back!

I was happy to find a vegetarian Ramen spot. As I walked in to place a take out order the first thing I observed was one of the cooks in the kitchen standing over the trash can wiping his nose with a tissue. He proceeds to throw the tissue in the trash can, wipe his nose with his arm then walked away without changing his gloves or washing his hands. I waited a moment to see if he was going to do so, instead he noticed me, walked over to ask if I was being helped, asked the server to assist me then he went back to stirring food with the same gloves on that he had not changed since wiping his nose.
