If you love shrimp fried rice, theirs is the best I have had in California!!! Their Salt Pepper Fried chicken and spicy pork chops are also cant miss. The other dishes were good but not great, including orange chicken and Mongolian beef. Food comes real fast and is always fresh. The service is very friendly. The prices are good for the amount of food and quality of food. The only negative thing is the location, in a strip mall, is very basic. But parking is never a problem!

Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings!Yup, it’s what makes Golden Chopsticks Restaurant and its rival Royal Mandarin so popular.Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings are a staple at family gatherings in San Diego but this is the first time I dined inside the restaurant.Golden Chopsticks Restaurant is a mid-to-large sized, casual, sit-down Chinese restaurant located on Plaza Blvd and Palm Ave in National City, near IHOP and Jo-Ann’s Fabrics. Getting here via Google Maps is easy but the parking is a bit crazy. It has a shared lot between businesses - plenty of parking spaces but most are unavailable during the weekend. Consider your vehicle choice before coming here because the parking spaces are tight for large trucks and SUV’s.The ambiance inside the “private” room to the right was beautiful - open and brightly lit with natural light. I say private room because our large party took up the entire space minus 2 tables. I loved the large artwork in the back wall. Noise level is loud here. The staff were able to service our party and get all the dishes and drinks out. The tableware was neatly organized and the condiments were plentiful and easily accessible at every table. We had a preselected, family-style menu across all the tables, which included their famous Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings. It was better eating it dined-in than served in party trays at the family parties I’ve had in the past. I did, however, like the Salt & Pepper Squid (Calamari) more than the chicken. The Beef Broccoli was my favorite of all the dishes. We also ate had noodles and fried rice. While I enjoyed the dishes, the post-meal inflammation did not.Overall, it’s a decent spot for a step-above-casual-dining Chinese food. The salt and pepper dishes are addicting but I’ll probably stick to the Beef Broccoli.

Probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in National City. The service is very fast, especially when ordering takeout. I have yet to place a takeout order, even during the middle of the lunch rush, and wait more than 10 minutes for my order. The salt and pepper wings are amazing and are my favorite dish here. The fried rice is all right, and I recommend the shrimp fried rice. I also enjoy that when you dine in for lunch, they still serve soup with your lunch menu order, and the dine-in portions are huge compared to the relatively inexpensive price you pay for a lunch special. Parking in the area can be challenging as there are many businesses in the shopping center, and the parking spots are small.

Food was really good and very fast service. Maybe a bit too fast our appetizers came out with the main dishes making the dishes lukewarm by the time we finished appetizers and soup. It’s a very popular restaurant so expect to wait about 20 minutes. It can be a bit loud and crowded my chair had zero space from the person behind me. I did notice one main dish was a little bland but maybe it’s not the house favorite but overall and most importantly it good food and great service.

This place is epic. Do not ever sleep on Golden Chopsticks. This is a staple in the San Diego / National City area.Service: I dont know what yall are doing, or how youre managing your employees, but the management is doing a great job. Ive been here multiple times and everyone is super friendly, attentive and accommodating. Huge, huge fan - and Im not even sugar coating this.Food: Okay, so potential controversial statement: the Salt & Peppered wings are good, but not great. And no, they are not to die of. Theyre pretty average in flavor, to be honest, but you get a generous serving for what you pay and its definitely worth it. And most importantly, theyre delivered fresh, hot and juicy. The green onions and garlic toppings though - mhm. Absolutely divine. I couldnt help, but eat spoonful after spoonful of it. A good bang for ones buck. Definitely order this dish, if youre looking to add some protein to your lunch and/or dinner. We also ordered the Beef Chow Fun and Orange Chicken, which were excellent. The Chow Fun was generous in portions, charred and cooked well and the beef was super tender. Overall, my table and I were huge fans.Overall, if youre looking for some comfort Chinese food in the San Diego / National City area, please check out Golden Chopsticks. Theres a reason why youll see a ton of locals and foodies frequent this restaurant at all hours of the day - its worth it.

We were told this place had excellent dishes and they were not wrong! It wasnt too busy, barely a minute wait. They have a lot of options on the menu, vegetarians wouldnt be disappointed either. The food tasted so good. I got the cream cheese wotons and the vegetarian egg Foo Yong with a side of rice. It was so good and so much that I had to get a to-go box.My friend got the shrimp soft noodles as well as the salted pepper chicken wings. He loved both but the wings especially. This place serves huge portions; you wouldnt be disappointed. Now the service. The place was buzzing with servers all round. Filled up glasses with water every so often, asking if the meal was good. They were so nice and helpful. I understand that this is part of their job, but they excelled at it that it must be praised. The only gripe we had was that they did not offer us a drinks/tea menu neither did they ask what we would have liked to drink. We probably wouldnt have ordered any drinks so its not a major issue.Overall, this place is top notch if youre in the mood for some Chinese food. Despite it being a Chinese restaurant, dont hesitate to try out the lemon pepper chicken!

Friends, the family went to Golden Chopsticks because the kids like it, and secondly they are always FAST!!! So I give 4 stars only because Im generally not a Chinese food eater (though later Ill do reviews at other Chinese restaurants that I enjoy), I had a headache, and because I had to base some reviews off the family. So I will say the family enjoyed the Sweet and Sour Fish (fish is always a winner with me), Walnut Shrimp, Mongolian Beef (my favorite because it was flavorful and the meat was soft), and the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings (super crunchy!). I love Jasmine Tea, and took the remainder home in a cup. This place is always full of people even during the week, so you know its a good thing!!Came again 5/18/22 changed rating to a 5. We ordered the Fried vegetable rice, orange chicken, and salt and pepper chicken. Lots of leftover, the food was delicious! The important part was that the restaurant was open for late night eaters. We came before 8pm and when we left some time after 9, they were still serving food. Prices a little higher likely due to inflation.

Really impressive Cantonese restaurant in Mira Mesa! I’ve never really heard of this place before, and my friend told me this place was recommended by one of her friends. And we loved here! We came here at Tuesday lunch time and the restaurant was pretty full already. We had a seafood&tofu pot, a Kung pao chicken and a stir fry rice noodles with beef. All of them are nice, I highly recommend the seafood & tofu pot, it feels pretty authentic. The owner also gave us a plate of fried wonton skin and soups for free. I definitely will come back to try other things.
