Golden Dragon in Costa Mesa

Weve been here several times because the food is GOOD!!! Gotta have the sizzling rice soup...we got it for 4 people and stuffed ourselves 😆. Orange chicken is good as well as the Mongolian beef! Shrimp fried rice was delicious!!. Friendly atmosphere and good service. Definitely a go-to.

I recently had the pleasure of trying Golden Dragon for the first time, and I was blown away by the quality of the food. The flavors were bold and complex, and the dishes were beautifully presented. The service was also top-notch, with friendly staff who made me feel like a valued customer. I cant wait to come back and try more of their menu!

I have been craving Chinese food for so long now (since my only go to place Golden Garden was sold) so I out decided to go to this place. I had been warned by friends that the food just wasnt like it used to be here but I needed my Chinese food fix. So I got a dish I figured you just cant mess up. The beef with snow peas. Well, apparently you can mess it up because it just wasnt too my liking at all. I got it to go so I know the snow peas can get a little mushy in the drive if they are cooked just right to begin with so I opened the container to let steam out and hopefully save them from becoming mushy. It didnt work, they were so mushy I didnt enjoy them at all. And because they dont put any water chestnuts in the mix the whole dish was just a bunch of mush. I dont know what they do to their beef but it tasted fishy and I do not like fish. I ended up not eating most of it. I also ordered the fried won tons which were ok, nothing great and a bit greasy as well. I had buyers remorse and felt I just threw 30.00 down the drain. The restaurant itself looked run down and not very appealing. I remember a long long time ago how it looked and I can tell you it doesnt look like that anymore. Looks like its a wonder it passed inspection actually. I do not recommend this place even if no other Chinese food restaurants were within 50 miles. Now Im going to have to try and find a new place to get my fix. Im so upset with you Lisa and Jim (from Golden Garden) for selling my beloved restaurant while Im still living!

We come back often because the food is excellent! You must have the sizzling rice soup. Both the Mongolian beef and the orange chicken are delicious! The fried rice with shrimp was fantastic. Best food ever 😍

Our 1st time here. The food was sooooooooo good! Everything we had was nice, fresh, yummy, perfectly flavored, and overall just good! The hot tea was also very good. The wonton soup was also perfectly seasoned. I can honestly say I did not need soy sauce on ANY dish! Im coming back again for sure. We even got a hug when we left and a Thank you!

My wife used to come here often as a kid, finally tried her recommendation. I was very surprised by their walnut shrimp and orange chicken! Their egg rolls and chow mein were mediocre though. Place was super empty despite being rated the best Chinese food in Newport year after year. I would say to come here just to try their walnut shrimp. All in all, I would rate it an 8 out of 10

Always Great Food, Service is always great. Owners are the nicest folks youd ever want to meet. Eat here every time Im in Cali.

We were skeptical of all the polarizing ratings, but decided to give it a shot anyway. It wasn’t very good. Not terrible, just ok. Probably won’t be back.We ordered the white rice (did not taste good), veggie chow mein (no flavor), orange chicken (pretty good), and the Sichuan beef (weird flavor)

Delicious food served hot and fast. I was very pleased with our meals and the service. Nothing wrong with the atmosphere, but nothing special about it, either. Id definitely dine there again.

Is there ZERO stars? I ordered 20 entrees for my guests and the food was INEDIBLE that I had to place it in the garbage! The beef and chicken didn’t taste like meat, the noodles smelled horrible, and the vegetables were slimy! I called the restaurant and the manager instead of providing me with customer service told me “it’s impossible” and asked me to FAX the pictures of the trashed food. You can see them below instead, since I can’t fax and asked him to provide me with an email address, he said no fax is the only way. Anyway, both food and customer service was unacceptable!
