Service was good, food was ok, not great. Generous portions. The Orange chicken and the spring rolls were good. The sweet and sour pork was forgettable. The fried rice was mushy. I enjoyed the wonton soup.

Not Worthy to rate! How does Egg Drop & Wor Wonton Soups, Chicken chow neon & broccoli beef all taste the same? S&S Pork fried in bad/old oil… Very Disappointing, especially after $88.95. Even the fortune cookies were stale. The interior setting is very clean and well appointed. I brought this home as take out, my guests didn’t say a word, until I expressed my dismay of “Bad Chinese” and then they said it’s been bad for years.What a shame. I was looking for a decent meal, and got the contrary.

So there’s never a wait+ Nice parking lot+ Great views, lots of windows and natural light+ Decor is minimal but furniture and fixtures have a nice Asian style that isn’t tacky+ Ambiance is a little dead, but very peaceful and calm.+ Service is so welcoming, kind, attentive, and humble+ One of the very few Chinese restaurants in the area so I’m impressed with the overall experience+ Food and prices are very good. Worst service ever. Food was meh. Forgot to bring two items, yet charged us for them. Then disputed us over whether there were two sprites. Immigration laws need to be tougher. This is underscores why.

8/14/21TO GO ORDERS MAKE SURE YOU GET UTENSILS AND NAPKINS!!!We are here visiting and looking for Chinese food. Found Golden Gong and headed in to get dinner at (7:15pm)I ordered togo and it took 45 minutes! While waiting I watched several customers leave complaining about the wait and was figuring this wasnt a good sign.. Finally got my order and headed back to our hotel room on Monterey st. Opened up the bag only to find our $34 meal without utensils or napkins😡It was all cold and almost tasteless, however the lard used in the deep fryer gives a high class slick coating in your mouth! Yummy!Sweet-n-sour chicken is overcooked, wontons are overcooked, steamed rice was actually ok....So....in a short ITS GARBAGE!

I moved from the bay area to here two years ago and Ive done dine in and take out at there restaurant and there food is great! Ive eaten at almost every Chinese place in the area and this food was by far the best. Great service. Overall nice family owned restaurant!

Im sad to say that this place was not good. It was my first time here and last. I ordered the shrimp chow mein. The noodles were good but the shrimp was lacking flavor and not fresh. My friend ordered the general chicken which is supposed to be spicy and sweet but, it was neither. The sauce was runny and salty. I dont do well with spicy food and can attest it was not spicy at all. Not even pepper seasoning spicy. The worst dish of all was the walnut shrimp, it had an old unpleasant taste as if it had been sitting there all day. My friend tried one shrimp and spit it out. It came in a bed a raw broccoli, the Walnuts were plain not candied, it seemed the sauce was poured over the shrimp so some were not coated and the shrimp was boiled not fried. And to add to the damage it was $22 for this plate alone. We spoke to the owner who did not like the criticism and instead blamed us. She insisted that the food was fresh even though we got it within minutes of ordering. She refused to remove the walnut shrimp from the bill and only offered something else but still charge for the walnut shrimp. There is no point in arguing with someone who is in denial. We paid the bill and left. As a business owner I would never treat my customers this way. I use customers reviews and criticism to better my product. Unless this lady does the same, I dont see this place open for much longer.

The owner assaulted my cousin! Do not eat here. The customer service is horrible. I asked to keep the menu so that I could order food Togo and the owner literally grabbed the menu out of my hand and told us to just pay for my beer and leave. I paid for the beer and she grabbed my cousin and said she needed to pay for the food we didn’t even touch. I called the police out and charges have been filed.

Awful!! Please heed my warning. I ordered the Pu Pu Platter with a side of fried rice. The fried rice was obviously reheated, bland, and flavorless, with a plasticy texture. Its only contents was a few measly peas and processed carrots. Most disappointing was the Pu Pu Platter...it wasnt a pu pu platter!!! It was just an appetizer sampler!!! Just a few egg rolls and won tons.... It did have SOME meat, and although the wrapped tinfoil meat was fine, the skewers, although tasty enough, immediately got COLD because they didnt provide us with a classic pu pu platter fire dish! They should rewrite their menu...that was not a pu pu platter. Also, it was 20 dollars!! And the rice was 4!! Absurd. I had to go somewhere else to eat after because I was so disappointed... As a pu pu platter fan I am heartbroken.

I’ve eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants in the past. This is by far the worst. I ordered three dishes: Mongolian Beef, Potstickers, & Dragon & Phoenix with a side of rice. When I realized they hadn’t included utensils with my to-go order I went back to ask for some but got only one spoon & one fork for me, my husband, & daughter. The Mongolian beef was overcooked, the Dragon & Phoenix didn’t have a speck of seasoning, & the Potstickers & rice were dry. Even the soy sauce packets didn’t help much. The shrimp & chicken of the Dragon & Phoenix was especially off putting. For the price they were charging I expected quality but was disappointed to say the least. Panda Express is cheaper & better.

Service was bad, environment was not clean, and the food was disgusting.Not to mention I read numerous food poisoning reviews prior and found 4 small black hairs in my rice and then felt really sick by the time I got home.Please do not go here. I always passed by this place and have been wanting to try it. I finally took the time today to eat here with my girlfriend and it was worth it! Our waiter was extremely nice and friendly and always made sure if we needed anything. The food was absolutely immaculate. The egg flower soup was robust and flavorful. The beef chow fun was absolutely delicious and served with a hefty portion. The imperial walnut shrimp was the best with its sauce being so creamy. I’ll be sure to be coming back. I highly recommend eating here if you want a perfect authentic Chinese restaurant experience!

Weve been to Golden Gong several times now and had a really great meal everytime. They are very clean, friendly, and efficient. Their food is the best Chinese food on the central coast. Soups are exceptional! I had Cashew Shrimp today and it was delicious! Good portions (enough to bring home for dinner). Highly recommend.

Pleasant surprise. Im not terribly impressed with the Chinese restaurants in our area, however the food was good. Unfortunately the menu was pretty run of the mill, but the food was executed with fresh ingredients and tasted fine. Hot and sour soup was delicious, as was the chicken curry. Am excited to see roast and Peking duck on the menu. I will call ahead and order them on my next visit.

We came here for dinner on Christmas and we were told it would take about 30 minutes for food after we ordered. After 1.5 hours we had asked about our food and the owner told us they were prioritizing Togo orders and then she raised her voice and rudely told my mother she can leave if she wants, so we did. I will never put my family through this horrible horrible experience ever again.On another note throughout our wait we could hear the owners arguing and getting hostile with their employees which made me feel really bad because they really tried to make our experience as pleasant as possible but it seems like they were fighting an uphill battle with owners and the management at this establishment.

After coming for a while, our go to dishes are Sole Filet in Black Bean sauce, String Beans and Chicken, Pan Fried Noodles (with chicken or veggies), and the Imperial Walnut Shrimp. The soups and appetizers that come with the lunch and dinner specials are great. All the dishes are big enough portion that we usually have leftovers. Friendly service and spacious seating.

We used to go to another Chinese restaurant in San Luis Obispo but this became our go-to this year as the food was incredibly good and plentiful. We took home enough food for another dinner. Can recommend the wonton soup without the vegetables and I had multiple different items and every one of them was good. Its not like youre in Chinatown in San Francisco but its still damn good

Super fresh Chinese food. Yes, it is Americanized, but that is what locals want. They make fresh Wontons in their homemade soup.Since they use little oil or MSG, the food is not as savory asthe fast food chains...but is far healthier.You can always jazz up your food with their Chinese hot chilli & Chinesemustard....as well as Soy Sauce. They also take special requests.It is a mom & pop place. The owners, Joann & Alex, are as nice as Saints!

Came here for their lunch special and ironically, they give you a bigger portion of the sesame chicken (also came with a small side of steam broccoli) than the chow mein which was a bit on the soggy side.
