I have been coming here for a few years now and I must say the sesame chicken is amazing along with the orange 🍊 chicken. the chick dumplings are also a favorite of mine. The staff is always friendly the mom is always smiling and lovely no matter if you go in to have dinner or call in your order. Highly recommend

Older decor but looked very clean. The woman at front was like a one woman show taking phone orders, hosting and cashing out take out. She was efficient and kind. My dinner of Orange Chicken and small white rice $16 it was a plentiful portion, hot and an appropriate amount sauce. This seems like a simple, casual Chinese restaurant to enjoy with family or dinner during the week.
A couple weeks ago we ordered takeout and everything was delicious. We then had a birthday dinner for 8 people and the staff at the restaurant were so sweet and attentive. They even gave us plates to serve a birthday cake. We will definitely keep enjoying this gem in Northridge.
Our family has been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. Small and big groups the food gets everyone!! They enjoy it thoroughly. Theyve come from Canada, West Indies, Philippines they All loved it. AND the STAFF have always been amazing. Thank you!!
The service was good, but the food was okay. I havent had Chinese food in a long while and was hoping to be blown away as Id been craving it, but it wasnt meant to be.The Orange Chicken was more bread than chicken and way too sweet for my liking. I also hand the Mongolian Beef and it was good, not great.Ill have to try this place again to make sure it wasnt an off day.
The food is delicious and reasonably priced. They have both spicy and non-spicy dishes. The manager Jennifer and the wait staff are kind and friendly. They also have a banquet room that you can book. Dont forget to ask for the black cherry icecream for desert! You wont regret it!

Went there about 8 pm and apparently so did everyone else in Northridge! Family owned, they greeted what must have been an old customer with hugs. Everyone loves them. They were hustling in the kitchen, Ill tell you! It was only To-Go orders. Nice big portions at reasonable prices! Will be back next time Im in L.A.
This is the first restaurant that would come up in my mind if Id like to have Chinese cuisines with really local flavor. The staffs are very nice you can even ask for recommendations on those really local-flavor dishes.A good place to order several dishes at once and share with your family if you dont want to cook a meal. Love it!My favorite dishes are 海鮮豆腐煲 and 魚香茄子, recently tried 宮保豆腐 it was also very good 👍

I recommended this restaurant to my former students. I have been coming to this restaurant for more than 20 years. I recommended this restaurant to have a reunion here. My former students and I met and ate here. Bad choice will never come to this restaurant again. Never been embarrassed the way the owner and waitress did. Apparently the tip was not enough for waitress and she made a big scene in front of other customers to the owner. Waitress did not have good service; she was more concerned on attending other customers. Three times we ask for water and she rudely responded “wait” taking a long time to bring the water. Then owner came demanding my former students to give tip. It was such a horrible dining experience; felt betrayed after having recommended this place. Golden Hunan lost my business and recommendation not for asking for more tip but for how rudely they did. In the future if you are enforcing tip, have it posted for everyone to know and do not confront your customers in such a rude way. I have always left tip but the way they treated and confronted my guests was unacceptable.

This was my first and last time at this restaurant. Throughout our service we were constantly told to wait and were rudely talked to, thus the reason for the amount that was tipped. At the end of service when the waitress came to pick up the receipts she was upset about her tip. She fanned out the cash and said “that’s it?!”. On our table she scavenged to look for tips on the receipt. We were even asked how much each of us put in for her tip. Shocked and confused we told the waitress and she walked away upset to tell her boss. Her boss then came over to our table to tell us we had to give her more of a tip. This whole situation was shocking, confusing, unprofessional, and embarrassing in front of other guests. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant. I tip by my service experience and was not pleased. If they expect the waitresses to be tipped a certain amount that’s no problem but they should have it posted somewhere for customers to know.
Been frequenting this place for years, and I can honestly say this is one of the best Chinese restaurants around. Its run by amazing down to earth owners and the food is always spectacular and reasonably priced. Please do check it out.

We recently moved to Porter Ranch and was excited to find that there is a Hunan restaurant near the area. We thought it would be our go-to hunan place but we were very wrong. First, dont let the name deceive you, it is not authentic hunan cuisine but rather general chinese fusion place. But the worst part of it all is the service. I believe she was some manager of the place and Im not sure what her deal was that day but she was rude especially in front of my mother.The story goes when we ordered extra rice and simply asked much it was. She initially said $2 then later corrected herself by saying $2.50. So when we asked for clarity, she immediately flipped on us and kept insisting that she said $2.50 from the start then started offending us if we understand what she is saying when ironically way more fluent in English than her. She looked visibly upset to the point we know she just lost a potential regular and word of mouth over 50 cents...But oh well, its okay since we now know its not a real hunan restaurant and there are many other Chinese cuisine options in the area anyway.

Very nice people here. Food made take out. Was yummy. Noodles, kung pao chkn n orange chicken. Also a noodle chkn soup. The broth was delicious and veggies too but the noodles inside were not good. Tasted like boiled flour. Good amount container I’d probably willCome back considering it’s closed to softball field.

This is our favorite Chinese food restaurant. We have tried others in the valley but they can’t compete with this one. Since Covid they’ve stopped giving a scoop of ice cream after a meal but that’s not a big deal since the food is as good as always.

Even though I moved away, I make a point to come back every time Im in town. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu but the chicken & broccoli is one of my personal favorites.

Staff greeted us right away and server was on point entire meal. ❤️❤️ Egg Rolls, BBQ Pork Spareribs (huge!), Hot & Sour Soup, Fish in Black Bean Sauce, Hunan Pan Fried Noodles. Recommend all dishes but Fish in Black Bean Sauce was perfection (fish was moist; bell peppers and onions had a nice crunch)! Good sized portions and prices reasonable.

Recommend getting the family dinner, its a better deal. Annual tradition to go on xmas eve day. Note, prices on the website have not been updated. They are higher at the restaurant. That was a little bit of a surprise.

We also enjoy the egg rolls, the crispy noodles, vegetarian, fried rice, sweet and sour shrimp, and the wontons. I did suggest that maybe they add a cheese wonton to the menu!My favorite thing about this restaurant is the owners and servers. They are extremely friendly and helpful and when our daughter recently passed, they extended their condolences personally. 2023-12-07 16:45:44There are so many excellent Chinese restaurants in a short radius of Golden Hunan - but I would choose Hunan over the majority based on their quality, and quantity. What the food may lack in uniqueness, it more than makes up for in its ability to bring comfort. If youre paying $15/entree then you want a good amount of food - Hunan delivers.

2023-11-18 05:35:41I have been a customer for Golden Hunan for the past 20 years!! Even if I have moved away to Burbank, I still make sure to visit this restaurant as much as I can. Nothing in the local area will compare. Service and atmosphere are amazing as well. Will continue to visit.

2023-11-16 21:03:54Man sick all day next day food was truly horrible i had 1 piece pork 1 piece chicken won ton soup, 1 spoon! was a gel like horror of fat i had 1 spoon of noodles i just cant believe i ate even that, I was so hungry, anyway place was empty, i am used to really great chinese. not sure anyone here who gave 5 * knows what good chinese is!
