Golden Star Chinese Food in Redding

Stopped here for lunch on a Wednesday. Place was quiet, had a pleasant vibe.I had the lunch special. The soup of the day was delicious--lots of flavor, hearty and hot.Got the chicken and vegetables, and they nailed the flavors. Great food, will be back again :)

The won ton soup was amazing and full of vegetables, and won tons. The broth was light and delicious. I really enjoyed my meal here as well as the atmosphere.

I was a little nervous about coming here. We couldn’t get a taxi/Uber/Lyft to downtown so ‘settled’ for a more local restaurant. I’m pretty picky about food and had eaten a ‘so-so’ meal at a steak restaurant nearby the previous night but this meal was delicious. We had sizzling beef, Singapore Mei Fun, and sui mai dim sum. The mains were tasty and fresh (crunchy vegetables, well cooked meat). The servers were delightful and helpful. Great.

As soon as I walked through the door it was great service to begin with. Food is definitely made with love and in its unique flavors. I got the shrimp & vegetables with chow mein everything handed to me was perfectly plated and tasted so fresh the shrimp was so tender gotta say it’s the most flavorful Chinese. But most of all the egg drop soup hits just right with the crab wontons definitely recommend that. Server was just amazing and overall genuinely nice she got to us quick to make sure we are doing ok or needed anything. Did not have to wait long at all for food or service im impressed.

The restaurant is in the convenient location and the online ordering is easy. Prices were about average, maybe even better than average for the area, and the staff was very friendly and service prompt.I dont normally dislike Chinese food but, as a whole, I did not like the food from Golden Star Chinese. The fried rice was bland and the chow mein was not great. Orange chicken and sweet and sour pork was a lot of breading and not a lot of meat. It is definitely a different style of Chinese food than most of the other restaurants in the area.Overall, not somewhere Ill be going back to mainly because I dont like the style of the food.

Absolutely loved it. My wife and I had been trying to find a nice atmosphere for her birthday. We enjoyed a nice quiet evening with amazing food, fast delivery and low prices. This will be our forever go to Chinese place.

Went for dinner date and we each got the combination special. So much food for the price and was amazing! Had leftovers for lunch and was just as tasty. AND we sat, ordered, and ate all within 35 minutes. Great fast service and kind employees. Should be called Golden 5 Star

We had Mongolian beef and kung pao prawns on the lunch specials. The vegetables were fresh and not soggy. The only small thing we would liked to have had was sweet and sour and hot mustard for our egg rolls. We though our lunch was great and at a good price. We will definitely be going back!

Food was really good, especially considering the price and portion sizes. Our two year old loved it as well. The restaurant is nicely remodeled and all the staff we interacted with was exceptionally friendly. They stayed on top of our drinks and food came out quickly. All around great experience. I forgot to take pics until after we had already been eating so you cant really tell the portion sizes but we were stuffed and brought home leftovers.
