My husband and I were visiting Santa Barbara last weekend and found this restaurant on Yelp. It is a quaint restaurant with some tables outside that were occupied. Our server who I think is the owner was very friendly. The service was fast and we enjoyed our sushi. We’ll definitely come back when we are in town.

Disappointing after reading the reviews, we were excited to go here. Dont order a roll with shrimp tempura in it, they only put one shrimp in the roll so you only get shrimp in the first two slices of the roll, the other six have none. Pointed this out to the manager/owner and she said thats how it supposed to be. Been to a lot of sushi restaurants in my time and have never seen that. Given the price, it was not worth it, will choose somewhere else next time we do sushi.

Im surprised to find delicious, authentic, and affordable sushi in Goleta. The salmon sashimi we ordered was fresh, buttery, and delicious. The tofu agedashi was excellent. All the sushi rolls we ordered were also amazing. I believe the restaurant is owned by the attentive Japanese lady who served us. I will definitely be back again!

This is tiny little place with high-quality sushi.Their hours are conservative and they only serve dinner on the weekends. Service can be abrupt with very few smiles but if you go for just the food youre in for a real treat. Seating is very very tight especially if youre a party of four. The ambiance is as simple as the service is. While we were there we saw a curry come out of the kitchen that looked and smelled fabulous.

Unassuming sushi restaurant with fresh fish and decent prices. I used to come for lunch often when I lived in Santa Barbara. The chirashi bowl is one of my favorite things to order since you get a variety of fish. The house salad comes with mango for a nice twist.

Without a doubt, THE BEST sushi in Santa Barbara. This place is phenomenal. Their fish is top tier, their rolls are huge, and their prices are fair. If that isn’t enough to bring you in, the owners and employees are some of the friendliest and fun group of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of being served from. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out. I literally won’t eat sushi anywhere else in Santa Barbara.What to order? My favorite is the sunrise roll and the dynamite roll. The pizza roll is delicious too but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.If you’ve read this far, you should just go eat some Goleta Sushi House right now.

Extremely good sushi for the price! The tuna, salmon, and yellow tail were melt in the mouth tender and fresh, the sushi rice was delicate and delicious, and the special rolls were amazing (we got the tuna dragon roll, a daily special called the sunset roll, and the salmon avocado). My go-to sushi place. The store is extremely small and intimate. The staff know you by name. The proprietor is warm and very chatty. She always gives me special dishes or extra sake on the house because Ive been dining there for years. The food is excellent and usually arrives very quickly. The sushi rolls are much better than the cooked dishes, FYI. The cabbage salad is amazing. The food comes on quirky mismatched dishes and cups. Super casual atmosphere. Be aware that the restaurant is crowded on the weekends during dinner time. You might have to wait for a table outside. Im ecstatic that I started working down the street from Goleta Sushi House. I have lunch there frequently.

The older asian woman that works here always makes my boyfriend and I feel special and on occasion brings something new from the menu to our table that we havent tried before for free. The Goleta house salad with seaweed is delicious and unlike anything I had tried before. The ingredients are always fresh. Do try their calamari, you wont regret it.

Switching off the engine of the rental car, my hands reach for the door handle, eyes draw towards the well light Goleta Sushi House. The restaurant appears nearly full from the outside, it’s later in the evening on a Saturday night. Upon walking in, my partner and I are greeted politely by a determined woman, who is eager to place us in comfort in after our travels. We sit, our hearts open, ready to enjoy what’s been reviewed as a wonderful home for sushi. Our expectations were met and exceeded. The food was marvelous, sushi hand rolled to order, fish as fresh as the ocean air, our palates pleased beyond recognition. What really accentuated our experience though, was the hospitality, the connection with the incredible owner of this establishment. If you ever are blessed with the opportunity to meet this woman, you will immediately recognize her dedication to her family, her love of people, and the care for her work. Visit this establishment for the food and feel welcomed by a presence that extends beyond the ordinary.

Teriyaki out of a jar over chicken doesn’t rate more than a three in my world. The sushi was just OK we had spicy tuna and a California roll with tuna on top of it. There’s no special flavor or twist to anything here and the sushi is just average. The waitresses were very nice and very attentive. The sauce dishes were dirty.

The Sushi fish quality, and serving size are very good. Very satisfied. Two dishes (a big sushi $12.99 and a small sushi plate $5.99) was enough to quench my hunger. Street parking can be a problem, but let that not deter you. The seating can be, however, a bit crammed and there may be some cooking smoke in the eating area as it is not possibly well insulated from the kitchen. But yet, 5 stars.

Its a cold night & smokey outside due to the fires. The front door was propped open & I requested they close it. Our waitress informed me that the owner will not close the front door. I believe the waitress, as she seemed to genuinely want to make us happy. The owner overheard our conversation and proceeded to stare us down for the rest of our dinner (talk about uncomfortable). My wife and I were on our way of Goleta after my 9 year olds softball camp. My wife was craving Sushi, but didnt want a fancy sit down spot. I saw good ratings on this place and gave it a shot. We arrived in time for lunch as they have both lunch and dinner hours and were glad we did.We had a good conversation with the owner and she was a good hostess as well. The place isnt too big more a like a dive spot. The food was very flavorful and the portion sizes were very generous; at least what we ordered. Pricing was also very reasonable. I have paid a lot more for less and without the flavor of the food or hospitality of the staff.I would say if you want casual from start to finish, this place shouldnt disappoint. Also, gave it a 4 stars because an item we ordered was wrong... received beef teriyaki instead of chicken teriyaki; still delicious. We just didnt have the heart to say anything, but also because the beef teriyaki was great tasting mistake.

DO NOT GO HERE! THEY FRAUDULENTLY ADDED MONEY TO MY TRANSACTION AFTER I LEFT! Let me start of by saying the food was amazing! The waitress was also very nice, however, severely lacked in the customer service. The older woman (owner) was very short and rude as well. We had a tab of about $105, and I picked up the tab on my card. At the register, I added 3 strawberry ramune, which came out to an additional $11, no big deal. This brings the total bill to about $116. I did not leave a tip on the card, as I did not feel as if a tip was earned. Our drinks were barely refilled, we had to wait an exorbitant amount of time to get silverware, refills, food, etc. As of today, my square cash card alerted me that my account was negative, and it is due to Goleta Sushi House adding on their own tip! They added an additional $10 to the transaction that I did not authorize!

Ive been coming to GSH for years, I used to live in the neighborhood but still make a point to get out there for my favorite Tuna (or salmon!) Dragon Roll. I am a frequent customer of this wonderful restaurant. The owner, Vinh, is the most hospitable person that you can imagine. She treats me like a member of the family and makes sure that I am taken care of. This isnt a place with fancy atmosphere and overpriced cuisine. Dont be fooled by the size of this establishment, the portions are anything but small. The salmon sashimi, for example, is about 8+ pieces cut thick, about 3/4 inch thick. The rolls are huge as well.I typically power through 3-5 rolls and several orders of sashimi at other local establishments. At Goleta sushi house I struggle to get past 2-3 rolls and one order of sashimi.The fish quality is also on par with other local sushi joints, I have found it to be slightly better and more consistently fresh than other places.The owner is a delightfully attentive lady and the staff she keeps are helpful to the best of their abilities. Sometimes there is a language barrier with some of them, but they are always courteous and accommodating.

I dont know why this place rate is so high. I went to this place few days ago to get some sushi and other entrees. We ordered 3 katsu don, 1 beef bowl and two special rolls to share. We waited more than 30 minutes for our food and it tasted really bad.Katsu don has this weird sower flavor and the actual katsu has no taste. Beef bowl had less sauce and beef was too hard to chew. All of us were very hungry but we didnt finish our food because it was uneatable.

Stopped by after the lunch rush and had great chirashi. The rice was very good and the bowl was heaped with a generous portion of 4 kinds of fish + shrimp + avocado + tamago. THE WORST SUSHI... I’m a small business owner, and I really hate to give other businesses a bad review but how come this place got 4.5 stars I really wanna know. I’m sorry but if you say this is a good sushi, you never had a sushi before. Fish wasn’t fresh at all, and super thin I didn’t even taste fish but green onions, dynamite sushi looks like a sandwich not even a sushi, I never had spicy scallop on a rice roll before and this one was terrible, I was super hungry but still if I didn’t have soy sauce I couldn’t eat any of them, and I left it at least 7-8 rolls on my plate.. I wish I went to the other place that I found but I trusted this place after 4.5 and wanted to give it a try, but ended up I threw my money away...

Truly one of the gems of Old Town Goleta, if you havent experienced the food and atmosphere of Goleta Sushi house then you havent lived at all. Otoro was not a good cut and the rice was not good. Was poor quality rice and had way too much rice vinegar in it. The nigiri fell apart when it was picked up.
