We decided to go here because my partner was raving about this place. Upon our arrival we were greeted. We had gyoza and it was decent. My miso broth chicken ramen was so DELICIOUS, especially with the hot sauce. The atmosphere gave me anime vibes with the different figurines, and Gundams right it the front entrance. I truly enjoyed looking at them all and the ambiance was mellow. Two of my friends who who are not ramen fan really liked their ramen from here which says a lot. The server did an alright job since he was not as attentive as he was with the table next to us but just something to work on. Other than that I recommend you stop by to fulfill your ramen 🍜 craving. 😋

I gave a 5-star review to Gomen before, and unfortunately, this time, it will be a 3-star review.The spicy champon lacked flavor this time. I am not sure if the management has changed. The usual owner wasnt there today when I visited.We were seated and ordered first. My food arrived a good few minutes before my husbands arrived. In between,another tables noodles were served, which it had never happened before to us when the owner was there.I will still go back to give them another chance since I have been there since the early 2003, and this is the only time that was not to perfection.

I can’t believe I’ve never left a review for Gomen. I’ve been coming here for over a decade now and it’s like my top 3 ramen places. Their mabo tofu ramen is my favorite and i haven’t seen it sold anywhere else. They have their fried rice which I also love, if you like vinegar, you should try it on the fried rice, it’s so good.Their service is also great and the guys that work there are super sweet and are just good vibes all around. Last time I went in, they were playing avatar the last airbender, it was perfect.

Hot ramen on a rainy day is just the right combo! The ramen was super filling and the broths complemented the noodles. Its a bit sad that the manga section was closed off due to covid, but overall it was a great experience.

Food was delicious. Soup base was a bit salty to my liking but my brother says its fine for him so I dont know its its just me or the soup thats the problem. Our guess is the chunky meat they had places in there getting into the soup base. Besides that minor problem everything else was delicious. We ordered a sushi roll where they had scallops on top (forgot the name of the sushi roll) and it was horrible. The scallop was obviously from frozen since it was chewy and I can taste the fishiness that comes when something is not super fresh. We had salmon lover roll and it was delicious. The sushi went well with their spicy mayo sauce.One star less because of the sushi with the scallop tasting all weird.

I didnt think anyone can go wrong with ramen until this place. The WORST ramen ever. No flavor, so bland, no garlic, and it had a pungent smell. They should just stop. Theyre giving ramen a bad name! The hard boiled egg tasted like soap. I hope they read this & fire the cooks or change their recipes! Ugh, so so disappointed!! Waste of $55 (four ramens)!

Legitimate one of the best ramen place. Price was very affordable. Portion was enough to leave you super satisfying. The taste was marvelous and definitely is hand authentic. The service was fast and friendly and I can imagine this place mimics the same in Japan. More ramen places should follow this high standard as Gomen does.

08:15PM On June 3, 2023, customer service was very rude. I went there to buy some ramen to go. These big guy approached me and asked me in an obnoxious manner, Can I help you sir? He asked me like i am lost or in out of place manner rather than as a customer. I then respond, Well, Im here to get a ramen. Although I am aware that my clothing is for house attire. He then asks me again if I want to dine in or did I place an online order. My thoughts are blank at that point due to that rude question before. And so I said I order online which I didnt and I take it back and said I mean I will order here and take as to-go. He then smirk at me and I felt stupid so I just walk away because he isnt helping me on my order anyway.Rude costumer service. I really want to try your ramen but I am not going back here just because of that. Blame that big guy at cashier.

Wow! Got to say some of the best Ramen I have eaten. The pork broth tasty and creamy. Had the Tonkatsu Shio Kakuni ramen. The Gyoza were crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I believe the noodles are customizeable as well.

Got the “meat lovers” ramen bowl and you get such a generous portion of meat for such a good price. The broth is not to my personal preference as I prefer the creamier tonkotsu broths. This can be just a different style but overall, the flavors are delicious and the texture of the noodles are just right. I do wish that the egg would be slightly less cooked and softer.

Very traditional ramen place. Even the atmosphere is pretty traditional. Youll be really big bowls of ramen for just the right price. Dont be afraid to ask questions because ramen does have a lot into it and the employees are really friendly and helpful. When you arrive, dont forget to write down your name on the clipboard to get seated; or else youll be waiting forever.

I known this place has changed the owner or chef. The taste is not the same, it surprised me when they asked me the level of spice! The taste is plain with plenty of spices to overcome the real taste of ramen, also the price is very spicy to compare with the previous owner. You are better to eat the instant ramen at home.

Completely overrated and borderline fake high rating or high rated but numerous low standard reviewers. Customers are constantly getting up to grab napkins, place is not very clean, fridge is broken, ice bucket that servers fill cups with is out in the open. There’s a foul smell of rotten pork fat near the kitchen, not clear what else has gone bad. Quality of ingredients in the dish are average and the pork broth was as unappealing or worse than the package powder types.

How? How can such a simple looking bowl of ramen be so complex? The char Siu pork was blissfully delicious. The fat on the meat melted in my mouth, but not in the flavorful broth. I got the black garlic ramen this time, but you cant go wrong with anything here. All the workers were so sweet. Even though I caught the dinner rush, everyone was so pleasant and took their time with me. I appreciated the love that went into the food as well as the customer service.

Gomen, a once beloved ramen joint, has unfortunately fallen from grace. Supposedly under new ownership, the restaurant has lost its touch. The ramen now tastes more bland than ever before, leaving me feeling unsatisfied after every meal. The broth now lacks depth and is no longer rich and full of miso flavor as it once was in the past.One of the most disappointing aspects of the new Gomen is the increase in prices. This place had the best deal on ramen and was my go to pick in terms of both taste and value. With the price increase, there are far better options. Even at the old price, it is hard to justify this place.On a positive note, the atmosphere remains cozy and inviting. The interior remains the same, if not nicer. However, this isnt enough to make up for the lackluster food and poor service.Overall, Im sad to say that Gomen no longer lives up to its former glory. While I wouldnt discourage others from trying it out, I cant recommend it with the same excitement as before. Three stars is a fair rating for a restaurant that now falls short of expectations. I likely will never return to this restaurant, which was once a very special place to me.

I have been to this place several times. I use to give it 5 stars but I dont know what happened on my visit that the Tonkotsu ramen I usually get tasted different a bit salty and smokey. Was the chef having a bad day/off day? This is one of the three ramen places i like - Gomen, Zuru ramen and Silverlake Ramen. Now, Zuru ramen in Artesia is better tasting. However, I will come back again in hopes that it will taste like a 5 star rating.

Some of the best ramen Ive had period! This place may be small but it packs a punch. The food and the atmosphere is amazing! Perfect for a date with your partner or a nice dinner with the family. If youre going with a party more than 4 there wait times can be a little long. But the wait is definitely worth it. My go to is the tonkotsu miso double chasu, with a ramune.

The food was great and well presented. Plenty of options for lunch and dinner combos. Service was prompt and the food arrived quickly, but not so quickly as to be suspicious. Our server was gracious and they even undercharged us for the meal. We rectified that on the way out to his copious apologies. Would recommend for lunch or a quick dinner stop.

This was my first visit and can see why there is a wait list during lunch. This was an amazing ramen experience. First of all the staff was friendly and polite. The ramen came out quickly as well as the appetizers. So much flavor in the ramen we all picked. As a plus, they gave my grandson his own cute bowl with plastic fork and spoon.

Since this pandemic weve been home dining but its not the same as actually eating out. Ramen and other soup dishes just dont taste the same as they do in the restaurant. Found out that they were allowing done in again and had to go and try it. They have removed much of the tables and there is a lot of space now. Servers take extra caution and they have you use your phone to see the menu, nice because you dont waste paper like other places. The food was great, as always. I like the spinach ramen noodles with my dish. You can always use the yelp app to add yourself to the wait list and to get an idea of how busy they are. My family really like eating here.

The ramen is consistently good.They offer a good variety of broths, noodles, toppings, etc. Takoyaki is tasty as well.The service is friendly, fast and attentive.The price is pretty consistent with most ramen places. I usually pay between $10-15 each visit.The place is small and gets very busy at noon with the lunch rush. Plan on a decent wait if you have a large group. I wouldnt come with no more than a 4 person group.There really isnt any other competition in the area that can serve up the same quality of ramen.Id give the ramen a 4 star, but taking everything else into account and the lack of options within a reasonable drive, this place deserves all 5 stars.

The best Ramen Ive ever had at a restaurant. The broth was the best. I ordered #2 which is with chicken broth. Everyone else at the table ordered #1 or #3. The noodles were my second favorite thing about the soup. Really really filling and tasty. Everyone was stuffed and no one could completely finish their soup. I had pork for my meat. Someone else ordered the #3 which had pork and beef. Although the beef was super tasty, it was a bit dry (I know its hard to avoid when boiling beef). I want to try the chicken meat next time. I will update once I do. Would definitely return and highly recommend. Oh! And it gets crowded quickly, so expect to wait if you dont get there right when they open.

Great choices and delicious Ramen every visit. The prices are extremely affordable and the service is quick. I always order the Tanmen Ramen with a side of fried rice. One thing that has changed is that they have a Yelp-check in system now. Makes it easier for Saturday nights since the lines are always long. I love eating here every time Im in the area!

I really like to come here specifically for their unique noodle options! My favorite is the tofu noodles (super low calorie at 10 calories a serving), spinach noodles, and kale noodles! I think its a fun option and good for those who are a little cautious of what they eat, or possibly cant eat regular ramen noodles.

We had ramen here one night. The ramen is just ok for us. The tonkotsu broth is not our favorite(not quite creamy enough). Egg is cooked well done instead of soft boiled like the typical Japanese ramen place. The barbecue pork and Chashu’s flavor is ok.We like that they offer a nice variety of noodle and even a low calorie tofu noodle.

Small restaurant and can often be crowded. Havent had issues finding a parking spot but sometimes a short wait especially during lunch. The ingredients are fresh for example they use real corn kernels and not frozen which I appreciate. The noodles are perfectly cooked and not mushy (al dente). The broth is light and not salty unless of course you choose the salt base. Overall the ramen is excellent.My only small complaint is that there is no substituting even if the ingredient is the same price if bought separately as an add on. I didnt want to spend the price of the create your own bowl and only wanted to replace the bamboo shoots of one of the smaller bowls with corn. I would have had to paid for the corn separately. I kind of understand though.

Didnt know this place existed until a friend suggested we have lunch here. There were 4 adults and 8 kids in our party. The staff did a great job of accommodating us in their small place esp during the busy lunch hours on a Tues around 12:45ish. The #1 was a good portion and flavorful too. Great food. Im not the biggest fan of ramen, but I like what they have to offer. Good broth, 5 different noodle options, and lots of tasty tidbits floating in the soup. Just had the katsu curry the other day and was hugely impressed. Came out super hot, good sized serving of crispy chicken, and LOTS of sauce and rice to accompany.They are very busy at lunch time so either get there at 11 when they open or wait until about 12:30 when the first wave dies down. If you show up between those times, especially with a group larger than 4 people, expect to wait a little bit for a table to open up. Great atmosphere, anime figurines greet you when you walk in and it looks like they have a manga library off to one side.

This is still one of my favorite Ramen places. The noodles are al dente and have a good bite to them. The broth is very rich. They are generous with their meets.The quality has gone down since the first times Ive been here. Hope it doesnt continue to slide. The Deluxe ramen was about half off for ramen week. Its a good size bowl of tonkatsu broth, thin ramen with a few pieces of bbq pork and pork belly, seaweed and corn. Overall I thought it was a pretty average bowl of ramen. Maybe not to my liking but hey everyone has their own likes and dislikes.The service alone made me not want to come back. It could be because they got rushed for ramen week, I hope that was the reason.Small place, rushed service with a average product. Id pass on this place as the OC has so many other places to eat.

I order my ramen differently, but I can honestly say the soy sauce ramen is good in flavor! It has green onion a few small pieces of bbq pork a half egg, a few bamboo shoots and comes with the ramen noodles. Really flavorful and better than some ramen spots out there. Shen sen still hits the spot tho! The kimchi has changed in flavor in my opinion but it’s otherwise good- just some times they serve little and sometimes much more. So consistency is not always there on side orders. I’ve heard the curry is good- not a curry fan but def on the rice bowls.. all good.

Phenomenal ramen only topped by Tokyo. Very good spicy tonkotsu. All kinds of noodles and a few variations on broth thickness. Plenty of options to add variety to your bowl with meat and toppings.Small place that can get very busy. Quick service every time. I ordered the Deluxe and lets just say that the presentation of the ramen was better than its taste. The broth must have been at the bottom of the barrel or something because it was one of the saltiest ramen broth that Ive ever experienced. I actually used my cup of water to dilute the soup, but that didnt help.Service was non-existent, the waitress came to take the order and drop off the check, thats about it. I flagged her down to order black sesame ice cream. That ice cream was the saving grace to this meal, which is why Ive given 2 stars instead of 1. The scoop was rather small and I ate it quickly to offset the saltiness of the ramen broth.I wont be returning to Gomen.

Gomen is my go-to ramen spot near Cypress! Always order the kakuni deluxe with spinach (or sometimes kale) noodles and on healthier nights Ill go with chicken over the pork. Be warned, the chicken comes out more dry than the chashu (pork). Ive had really delicious ramen broth in little Tokyo and in Japan, and this place is probably the closest tasting in our area. The service is quick and if you come before 6pm youll beat the crowd. Their gyoza used to be better, but the last few times Ive gotten it was meh (probably because it was packed and they were just rushing to get food out to the customers) instead of being lightly crispy it was mushy. Their takoyaki is good, wish the piece of octopus inside was bigger though. Will definitely be back here for my fix in another month.

Sweet modern little Ramen place with wide range of broth and flavor options, excellent fast service, and nice spacious interior.We ate both soy sauce and miso ramen noodles and they were flavorful and clean tasting, not greasy. Our order also came surprisingly fast.Gyoza dumplings were crispy with vegetable filling.Mochi ice cream and almond jelly were excellent.Check their hours before planning a visit, they are closed after lunch like so many Japanese restaurants.Definitely worth a trip.

The place was packed with diners with the same idea. However, the wait time was only around 10 minutes, so it wasnt long before my slurpfest commenced.Sitting at the counter, I couldnt wait to dive into my bowl of spicy tonkotsu miso ramen.Of course, I had to add white & red pepper, along with chili oil to kick things up a notch to my liking.The spicy tonkotsu miso ramen did not disappoint! Delicious broth, al dente noodles, a few slivers of pork and the rest of the gang warmed my tummy. Some people like to sweat out toxins in the sauna. I, however, like to sweat out toxins by eating spicy foods! The floodgates of my sweat glands opened up as I tore into each fiery spoonful of broth. My fellow ramen lovers with me at the counter were also sweating it out to the oldies with me ;p I wouldve preferred the egg to be runny, as opposed to hardboiled, but knowing that some ramen places charge extra for egg, its only a minor gripe. Also, the amount of pork, while tasting good, seemed to be lacking. Of course, seeing how my bowl of ramen only cost $4.25 + tax, maybe thats the reason why for the apparently miniscule amount of meat.I was as happy as a fly on dog poop, savoring each slurp & gulp of my piping hot bowl of ramen until I proudly registered myself as an upstanding member of the Clean Plate Club.Service was sufficient, as tables were promptly cleaned & readied for waiting guests. Seating for 5 at the counter, with tables packed with ramen lovers throughout the rest of the restaurant. Parking is in a private lot & can be hard to come by, depending upon when you go.Gomen, domo arigato! Your spicy tonkotsu miso ramen hit the spot just right! My first stop with my LALALA Ramen Pass was a winner! When I come back, and oh yes, I will be back, Ill have to order your highly regarded kakuni ramen.
