Visited around 5:30 PM on a Thursday. The place had a good crowd inside, but I found the outdoor seating with heaters more appealing due to the chilly weather.The order-at-the-counter system was efficient. I went for a variety of dishes: dumplings, the days vegetable special, cheesecake, fried chicken, eggplant noodles, and almond tea.The food quality was impressive. Everything tasted fresh, and dishes marked as spicy had the right kick. The fried chicken was a highlight, especially with its unique, house-fermented vegetable side.What stood out was the front-of-house service - professional, attentive, and genuinely kind, which isnt something you find everywhere.The cheesecake was light and flavorful, a must-try. The fried chicken, juicy and well-seasoned, was another winner. Id happily order both again.The prices are a bit high, and portions are more on the small side, but the overall quality makes it worth a return visit. This might be one of the top Taiwanese restaurants Ive been to.

We came here on a double date and everyone was super impressed! I was so happy with how many vegan options they had, nice selection of beers and drinks, cool desserts. They constantly change their menu so it will always be something new to try! The patio space is so beautiful.

Definitely a meal you will not forget! Tons of vegetarian options that will make your mouth water. Great balance of sweet and spicy. The oyster mushrooms are by far one of the best mushroom dishes I have ever had and the kimchi is amazing. The owners and staff will take moments to talk about the dish or two, that personal touch really make it feel special and you can tell how much they care about their craft. Definitely don’t pass this place up!

Loved this place since they were located inside original pattern brewery in Jack London Square. So delicious everytime. The chef is creative and and talented. Every dish I have here has so much care put into it. I always say to my partner, mark my words its only a matter of time before GTE completely pops off and we will need to wait in long lines to eat here. And we would still wait because we love it that much.

Mediocre and overpriced. Hard pieces of ground pork in the Lu Rou Fan were especially disappointing compared to my experience with the dish in Taiwan (where it costs about USD $2). Spicy noodles had too much vinegar and lacked spice. Also a tiny portion. The grilled bok choy for $7 was really steep for 4 half-pieces, when this much bok choi is $0.50 at a Chinese grocery store.

Ive been here several times, and this is the first time Ive seen eggplant noodle on the menu. This was the best thing I have eaten since coming back from Vietnam. I was going to get it again the next day but its gone from the menu now 😭Edit: its on the menu again and Ive been eating it twice a week OMLThe fried chicken is also so good, juicy and flavorful. I was about to burst but I could not stop eating.

Excellent food. Eggplant was super tasty and not greasy. Love all the attention to details for the food preparation. Took my mom and friend and they both enjoyed the authentic Taiwanese cuisine. Shout out to the friendly staff and head chef for preparing the delicious dishes non-stop.

Came in with super high expectations from all the reviews and was very underwhelmed by the flavors and the food. Service was impeccable but the only thing that had any flavor was the spicy noodles. The minced pork noodle was lacking salt and any real savory aspect. The king oyster mushrooms were extremely chewy and didn’t have enough sauce on them (they also came out 20 minutes after all the other food).The eggplant was ok but could’ve used a little more lasting flavor. My wife was hooked on the chips though and will be taking those to go.

Really liked the Fu-Ru Fried Chicken. Lovely experience dining in the outdoor area. Super friendly and patient staff. Highly recommended if you want to try some authentic Taiwanese food with some delicacy.

There are so many good things I could say about this place. From the food, to Chef Tony and Angie who run the show, to the welcoming atmosphere, Good to Eat is a must! I had the privilege to work for Good to Eat when it was a part of Original Pattern and I’m so happy to see their success in the brick and mortar. Everything we ate here was incredible. The standout was the golden kimchi, the heirloom tomatoes and soy ginger, the fu-ru chicken, and the spicy noodles. Both of the pocket dumplings were amazing too. Not to mention the perfect OP beer to pair with everything. The attention to detail from the flavors to the plating made this an amazing experience. I highly recommend coming with a group so you can enjoy and share multiple dishes. The service was wonderful as well, and overall, just such a welcoming and great time. I can’t wait to come back and I am already dreaming about that golden kimchi. 🏵 Thank you Angie and Chef Tony for your contribution to the Bay Area community. It is AMAZING what Tony and Angie have done with their new location in Emeryville. GTE is the place I ate the most this year, as their menu always changes and is always fantastic.From the moment you walk in, its like being in a friends kitchen. The staff is SO friendly; you can tell they care about making GTE a wonderful place to enjoy delicious Taiwanese food.Speaking of the food, I always get the spicy noodles and the veggie of the day (more often than not sourced from the equally wonderful Radical Family Farms), and a dumpling! Then I add whatever new dish Tony has cooked up. Ive never had a dish I didnt like.TIPS: Check their instagram for Saturday hours. If you get invited to one of their festival/backyard parties, go! They also cater!Overall, my experience at Good to Eat Dumplings was top-notch. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Emeryville area looking for delicious dumplings and other Chinese dishes.

This spot is AMAZING! The food--absolutely unforgettable! I have tried so many dishes here and each has been outstanding--fresh, nuanced, and delicious. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, and the cute patio area out back makes for a lovely, down-to-earth atmosphere for a date night or gathering with friends. They are very dog friendly as well, and the staff have always been so sweet to our puppy! And the customer service is impeccable--each staff member Ive met has been so kind and thoughtful. My native Bay Area foodie mind was BLOWN! We were first in line and ordered the entire menu. Sat in the “backyard” at a nice big table. We came on a Wednesday.Favorite dishes-kimchi- a new flavor you haven’t tasted!spicy noodles had the perfect chew and flavor!The fried chicken was a wow!The daily veggie dish was so tasty.If you come with one person or many, order everything!!!!! And share.Our servers were on point, authentically kind and knowledgeable about the food.We met the owner Angie.Overall, this restaurant is NEW- and open only 3 days a week. All good is made in small batches and it’s farm to table ingredients. The quality is clearly there in all of their dishes which change each day:The environment of the backyard garden feel, makes you feel like you are at Angie’s house. It has such positive vibes. The FoodGrabbing lunch with a friend, and the desired choice was dumplings. Good to Eat Dumplings seemed like an interesting new place, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered their Pocket Dumplings (Pork) plus Spicy Noodle Set and Spicy Sauce Wontons. The Pocket Dumplings had a unique shape, but is your typical pan fried pork dumpling. My friend and I liked the Spicy Noodle, it wasnt super spicy, but had a nice chewiness and flavor. The Spicy Sauce Wontons is Hong You Chao Shou (紅油抄手) with the same sauce as the Spicy Noodle. The food was not bad, but also nothing special.The MiscellaneousThe restaurant, or I guess you can also call it a popup, is right outside of Original Pattern Brew Company. You most likely can spot it on the road as you drive by. Seatings are mostly outdoor, but there are a decent amount. The menu has a split between the beers of Original Pattern Brewing Company and a small selection of food. The price is expensive for what it is, and the quantity is also not much. I would say this is one of those interesting places you might try out once.

This is a only place where I could find authentic Taiwanese food in the Bay. The flavor of braised pork with daikon tastes as delicious as what I used to have from my hometown in Taiwan. I will definitely visit often when they have new seasonal dishes.

I’ve been eating GTE for years - since the popups at Eat Real fest and First Fridays, so I was super excited to see they opened a brick and mortar around the corner from me. I finally got a chance to try the new restaurant and their food is even better than I remembered, and the ambiance is great too. We got the golden kimchi, chicken/basil dumplings and spicy noodles, and they were all 10/10. Their menu does change frequently, though. I look forward to them expanding their hours and to keep coming back here for years to come.

Food is pretty unique and tastes good. Different than what I would expect as Taiwanese food. Will I crave for them again, probably not. They claimed their food is made after ordering. But all I see is the kitchen and service still need a big improvement in their efficiency and how to speak to customers. We waited for the take out order for more than 30min for dumplings. They should have done a little better in planning. Golden kimchi, Lu tofu and all the dressings have to be made hours before serve for consistency. Dumplings should be freshly made a few hours before and which can reduce the cooking time to 10min. Even frozen dumplings can be done within 10-15min... I really dont see why it could take more than 30min. When I asked about how long I still had to wait after more than 30min, all I kept getting is we made it fresh so it is very normal to wait for more than 30min. Yea, you can tell that to a person who does not know how all the other fresh dumplings places work (DTF with a much bigger customer load, I usually wait for 30-45min, for only steam dumplings I waited less than 30min), and they could have said sorry about the wait, let me check for you instead of making customers more angry about the long wait. Luckily, the cashier knew how customer service works, and went back to the kitchen to check while I had to listen to things from that server who sounded very impatient. Even the food is ok-good, I would rather go somewhere else. The line for waiting to order was not long but still it was a very long wait.

I like the food, but it’s not as flavorful as I’d like. And, even though the reviews say it’s Taiwanese, I’ve not had any stinky tofu, grilled squid, oyster omelet, squid ball….not even a boba tea here….so while it’s good Asian tapas I had the tofu and I’m not feeling Taiwan. it’s a little overrated. Service is OK. It’s open seating but they made me move inside to accommodate a bigger party (who did not ask for, wasn’t waiting. And had not reserved my table).

Good To Eat Dumplings are so very tasty. At a lot of restaurants there are only a few appealing items on the menu, but here everything is delicious, and the rotate menu items so new things keep coming along. Good To Eat was a staple take-out during the last year of the pandemic and is even better in person with their dine-in only items. We’ve been fans of GTE since we first tried them in 2020. Whenever we visit Oakland we try to eat from GTE. This was our first time at their new location—wow! The food is amazing. We tried both dumplings, spicy noodles, spicy fried chicken, and a few other dishes. Flavor of all is on point.The kicker for us is the service. Wow. Our 2-month-old baby started freaking out 15 minutes into the meal. We tried to console her in the car but she would not have it. I asked to get the rest of our food to go. As I was leaving, Xi brought me a bag of complimentary wonton chips to snack on on the drive home. She was so understanding of our situation with a young baby and wanted to help us.I really appreciate that gesture!!! We loved GTE and now I feel grateful to them for caring so much.

A quick and direct critique: Lu Rou fan was a bit too lean and on the bland side; the soy and spices were not pronounced enough. Spicy noodle tasted ok, but not very memorable or special. Mellon tea was overpriced at $9 each, and the added lemon was unnecessary in it. The stir-fried clams were fine enough, smokey but lacking a bit in the ginger, vinegary and chili tastes. Service was mostly courteous but at times a bit smarmy. Space and atmosphere were refreshingly airy, clean and simple. Will visit again however to try other offerings and add to this review.

Excellent authentic Taiwan cuisine, with some interesting riffs. Their hours are extremely limited (only open 14.5 hour/week) but worth the effort to try out. While the food is excellent, what impressed us most was the service/staff. If I lived closer I would go there regularly. Highly recommended if you have a chance to go.

Dumplings were quite good, vegetable of the day was a bit bland/watery and lu-tofu was not my favorite texture. Liked their drink offerings (the guava rose is a nice NA drink for floral flavor fans, they have a selection of beers that pair nicely as well). Had the bao at their pop up a few months back that was the best of my life, so was a bit disappointed with this visit. The dumplings are still pretty solid though! Might try this place again in a bit to test other offerings (especially if they put the bao back on the menu).
