Authentic Japanese ambience, nice sized rolls. We particularly liked the rolls over our appetizers: Chris roll, Scallop dynamite roll, and seared albacore roll. Also had the matcha beer which was green. Guess its always St Pattys in Kyoto. It was bitter and mild green tea flavor, a neat experience.

Fuss free Japanese dining with quality food - it is pretty popular and almost everyone came with a reservation so I suggest doing so, we waited about 30mins for a table but it was well worth it!

If you are in Paso and want sushi, then this is the place you go to - no second runner up - this is it. The fish is the best quality you are going to find for miles and the service is excellent. Last time I went I spilled my bowl of miso soup all over my lap and floor and the servers could not have been more kind - I was so embarrassed and they made me feel like it was no big deal. They have earned my loyalty. But again, the sushi is the best around.

They were really busy and so we got sat at the sushi bar which was ended up being a really good food and eating experience. The chefs were creating some really good Lookin rolls. The service and the food were really good and enjoyable. We loved that the rolls didn’t feel like commercial and standard rolls. Highly recommended this place for sure

Been wanting to try Goshi in SLO but never got the chance! Found this gem in Paso Robles!! We got the chef’s omakase and was quite satisfied! Fresh and decent quality! Also got a shrimp tempura roll because it looked so pretty and tasty! They have half sizes which was great!

Ive always loved Goshi in the past, and got my favorite seared albacore roll again this time. But it just wasnt as good as I remembered. Im not sure if it was because of too much sauce, or that the roll itself wasnt as chilled as I was expecting. My fiance got the chirashi sushi don and said that he enjoyed it. The iced green tea was delicious and refreshing, the highlight for me.

My favorite sushi place in Paso, because of the calamari tempura roll! I’m a basic sushi guy, but it has everything I love. I also had the crab and asparagus hand roll, which was tasty and seemed to be real crab. My date had the katsu pork bowl, which was large enough to allow for a full second meal’s-worth of leftovers the next day!

Just finished another excellent dinner at Goshi Paso Robles. The Sushi Chef out did himself tonight. Everything was perfect! The staff was quick to refill our drinks and to bring out the side dishes. We have enjoyed coming here since they opened some years ago. We will continue to eat here every chance we can.

Overall a pleasant experience. Customer service was just enough to enjoy the meal without having to wait or feel annoyed. Food was simple yet delicious. We had the lunch specials, the salmon with teriyaki and tempura and the salmon tataki. Perfectly portioned for a lunch special even if it looks on the lighter side to the eye. However, neither of us were a fan of the salad or the gyoza.We would still recommend !

Amazing food, great service and the right ambiance for light conversation topped with some of the best music jam in the background.Make sure you try the Agadeshi Tofu (deep fried - softest tofu wrapped in seaweed and immersed in juicy delicious sauce). They also made the Eel Don for me even though it was not listed in the menu.Finally, dont leave the restaurant until you have tried the plum mochi (and pay your tab 😛).Have a wonderful meal!

On the plus side, their sashimi was delicious, with a great texture and lots of great flavors, and I really enjoyed their cucumber salad. Their shrimp tempura was good, and I dont even like shrimp normally. Oh, and the server was very courteous.Now, the downsides. I waited for my main dish for over 40 minutes outside (wouldnt normally complain, but the breeze was chilly), they forgot my bowl of rice (brought it out later after I asked), and when I asked for salmon tempura, I was hoping to get a baked roll, not separate baked fish. Also, my tea refill was lukewarm (if it werent a bit chilly out, I wouldnt have minded, tbh)I would recommend ordering their sashimi, though

If you know my reviews, you know that I almost never give a place 5 stars. Goshi deserves every star! I only wish I remembered the name of our waitress so her bosses can know that shes a part of those 5 stars.Ill start with the entrance, where you get an authentic Japanese feel starting with the giant Maneki Neko statue behind the host stand. Ill continue with the fact that it was a packed restaurant, but the host still managed to find us a table almost right away despite not having a reservation.Then, the service. The waitress had a kind smile and was so happy to answer questions and accommodate our needs. She checked on us frequently, but was never intrusive.Then, of course, the food! Oh my goodness the food! I cook Japanese food at home, and have eaten at many Japanese restaurants. The teriyaki don bowl was perhaps the best teriyaki I have ever had. They were willing to accommodate that I needed mine without the vegetables. My dining companion had the same thing, but with the vegetables. We both enjoyed it so much! The rice was perfect, the sauce delicious, and everything cooked to perfection! They accommodated me not having green onions in my miso soup, and it was excellent soup. Right amount of wakame seaweed and tofu, great miso and dashi flavor. Even the pickled ginger we requested was so much brighter tasting and wonderful than the same at other restaurants! Their wine and sake selections are also excellent, and I especially recommend the sake nigori (Im blanking on the name of it, but its in the photos I uploaded. Something like perfect snow is in the name.)If I were to have any complaints, there are two minor things. My dining companion ordered a Coke, and they brought out a glass of ice and a can of Coca Cola. He figured that meant no free refills, which is a little disappointing. The only other thing is that you have to call for a reservation, which wasnt clear from their website and is why we didnt have a reservation. We usually reserve online.

On our last night in town we walked over to Goshi. Once there we asked if the chef could make a spicy udon noodle soup for us. He did and it was delicious. It was a wonderful dinner to end a great week of wine tasting.

I ordered solely off the specials menu to really get a feel for the Sushi (Nigiri) and it was spectacular. We ended up ordering one of everything and each piece was better than the last. First time here. Dont see a reason to go back. Made reservation for five and got seated at two undersized tables that they normally use for four with another chair at the end. Asked for another table and was told they couldnt accommodate. Glad I didnt order my usual sushi/sashimi spread, it wouldnt have fit. Nothing on the menu grabbed me, so I went for the Chirashi Sushi Don. Fish/Seafood was fairly fresh, Rice was well seasoned, Tamayo and Kamaboko were fine. Wouldnt have been memorable if they hadnt put what I can only describe as a minced seaweed with Wasabi in the bowl. Wasabi is the one thing I dont care for at Japanese restaurants, so putting this in the bowl ruined the taste of the delicate fish it touched. Definitely not a place I would go out of my way to go back to. Think I will stick with Yanagi Sushi down the street. Still hoping to find a could Ramen place locally. Is Momotaro really the only place? Not bad either, but limited menu, and not a true restaurant environment.

We arrived shortly after opening, without reservation but were still seated outside. The weather was nice, so lets go! Our server was initially present and attentive, but as our dinner continued she somewhat vanished. Our table lacked dinnerware when we first arrived, but sometimes that gets dropped off a little later. We placed our order with appetizers all at once however our dinner items arrived first. Then we realized we were missing one of our dinner items. It wasnt a big deal as wed ordered enough food for ourselves anyway. So after waiting for what seemed like 25 minutes or so I went to find someone and just asked for the check. Our missing dish arrived along with the check, and the server said she could comp half of it since it was late. Having faith in my past experiences with Goshi, I said ok and paid the bill. I honestly dont know what to chalk this experience up to... overwhelmed server? being outside = out of mind? or has Goshi just gone down hill. I honestly remember the place being a lot cleaner though. Ill wait a while before going back and give them a try again.

Weve been here twice. The food is really tasty but three time estimates for pickup are a lot lower than they should be. We were told to come back in an hour, and still wound up waiting an extra 20 minutes.The takeout containers are all styrofoam, which made me sad. This used to be the best sushi in Paso by far, but, in my opinion, has slowly gone downhill in the last few years. It doesn’t seem as clean as it used to be. The servers get turned over more often and the gentleman who is usually the host seems disgruntled. They need to go through and re train the service staff. Sushi is still good, but everything else seems to be lacking.

Food was great. Unfortunately we waited almost 2 hours to get our food. Frustrating to get seated at 7 pm and watch 3 tables around you get cycled twice before we got our orders. On top of that, server had to be asked to remove plates, provide Wasabi and refill waters.Politely spoke to the manager whos reply was basically shrugged shoulders and said we had alot of orders...We were the last ones in the restaurant when we left at 930 pm*Update - Kudos to their manager who followed up with our feedback at the end of our meal and tried to do rt by us which we appreciated. Went for dinner on a weekday evening. Eventhough there were no special occasion but there was a line up at entrance. As a result had to wait to be seated. Fortunately a bar space were available soon and i got in. Ordered salmon roll, plum wine followed by a spicy tuna maki. Found the wine too sweet despite japanese plum wine. The salmon rolls were good. Howevere spicy tuna makis were dumped by sauce and to me it spoiled the pricy tuna. Overall was an ok experience relatively.

Fish was very fresh and of good quality. However the tempura batter was too sweet and the salad had slightly too much dressing. The chirashi portion was much smaller than the SLO branch and had fewer variety of fish on it. There is takoyaki on the menu but it is not written on the paper menu and they are referred as octopus balls.

My wife and I have been coming to Goshis for 3 years since moving from SoCal. The food was always good and the conversation at the sushi bar with Yugo, the head chef was lively and friendly and filled with new recommendations and menu suggestions. We would be met at the counter by an older Japanese gentleman (sorry I cannot remember his name) by a smile and a nod to the sushi bar and who would take our drink order as we sat down. However the last 6 months has seen many changes at Goshis in Paso Robles. First the head sushi chef, Yugo was injured in a car accident and was replaced while he recuperated by another chef who though competent is not real friendly. There is now no conversation or menu suggestions forthcoming from the staff behind the bar as there was with Yugo (who is back but spends time in the kitchen as well as time behind the bar four days a week). The quality of the food presentation has all but disappeared.Secondly the the older gentleman who would greet us has, as we were told by a waitress just last night, is no longer there having been fired for being being great with the customers but mean to us. His departure is evident in the lack of service attention by the waitress(s). We were not met at the desk at which we stood until finally notice by a napkin folding waitress. We sat for over five minutes before any of the three waitresses asked us if we would like drinks. Later I would have find a waitress (3) who were spending their time hashing out the weekly schedule in the back or gossiping while folding napkins off to the side for a refill on our drinks.Until the last few months Goshis earned a 5 star but needless to say it may be time to try somewhere else which is so sad because Goshis has been the go to place for very good sushi with a very friendly atmosphere in North SLO county but for now, not anymore!
